ok first of all i did try searching but very little came up and tried the few solutions that were posted but to avail. for quite a bit now ive been sending double texts messages here and there. it wont happen with every text, ill say about 20% of the texts that i send get sent twice. now im using [June 15][PDACorner] Ultimate-X.V8 -21068 rom with spl 3.34nonstuckingspl with radio 1.71.09.01. i switched spls from 3.56 and ive tried many radios. so if anyone has any kind of insight i would greatly appreaciate it..thanks!

Well there's a couple of things i'd do change SPL like others posted. "I think you using the mentioned SPL"
Change ROM see if still persists.
If still an issue phone your carrier and ask if any problems with your account "without mentioning anythin bout cooked ROM"
I had it happen once when 7 messages where sent but just hard-reset and all was fine.

im going to try and revert back to another spl. so far ive tried 3.34 and 3.56. ive been using pdaultimate's roms only but other people don't have the same problem. thanks sytlez...ill report back to see if its fixed
I think that it is a mixture of carrier problem , connection problem and inherently the way SMS works. My phone does it , my wife's iPhone does it and my son's LG Vu does it. Not all the time but enough.
In any case it has nothing to do with development of new roms, there is a software forum and a general question forum. Just because you don't get an answer one place does not mean, post it in every section until you get the answer you want.

doesnt it get annoying at some point?
and i didnt post in EVERY section. ive only made this thread in this section and i asked in the pdaultimates rom thread. how would i know the double text problem isn't related to custom roms/radio/spls? thats why im trying to find out what is causing it and how to fix it.

Your gonna want to post in the thread that your using for the rom. IE if your using PDA Ultimate rom post this issue in his thread. Not open a new thread in the rom dev section.. That said i'll leave this thread open in hopes you get a answer but i moved it over to kaiser general to keep our dev area clean of questions as it's meant for rom develoupment.

oh i did post in the roms thread...but like the majority of the time small problems like this doesnt get much attentiion and gets blown off. so yeah...i flashed to pdaultimates's x2 rom and see if it fixes it

I find that if you help yourself - by finding out as much as you can first, maybe trying a few things and having them fail - then people are far more willing to help you.

See first thing I noticed - everything you asked in this post can be found by just searching the forum. Themes [I assume you do mean themes] can be found by a simple google search. How to install on the XDA[is that a phone?] can be found in the users manual. Upgrading the ROM might be something you wanna come back to once you know your phone a little better. Live with it a little while...

Thats so much better....
1. I take it you mean the ROM. You don't wanna delete the OS. You wanna upgrade it. I use the MDA/Wizard so I'm not to sure about the upgrade for the mini but I'm sure someone has cooked one by know. Again. Just search for "Mini s Rom upgrade."
2. Once you find the upgrade, it'll tell you how to install it. Read that post carefully. No since bricken the thing.

People do help newbies, and that's part of the job. I'm getting worried by the number of people saying that we don't help newbies. We were all one once, but for God, I suppose (I guess that's what he was doing for the first 5 days, blinging up his phone!)
Anyway, I don't know anything about the o2 stuff. I've got an o2 phone, but basically reset my phone before it installed anything from the extended rom. This basically means, extended slowness. You can then pick and choose what to install to customise your phone, resulting in a faster phone.

Many people recommend Wisbar, a customisation program to change the look of the phone. It's heavy, uses a lot of memory, but looks good.

There are many similar threads on the board, but my recommendations are, install SmallMenu, gsfinder, (and for me, VJOkButt). Anything else is cosmetic or optional, these 2/3 are essential.

1. to remove it try doing a hard reset, then boot up in coproate mode and enter 0506.Failing that to temporarily remove it go to start->settings->remove programs and remove O2ActiveUI. This will only make it go until your next hard reset. If you want to get rid of it another way try removing the file from the startup by: fileexplorer /windows/startup remove the program called o2 startup and do a soft reset.
2.no prgrams needed
3.you need to get wisbar advance forst, then get the xp theme on that and it should work
4. get a program called spb pocket plus, great little app and tcmp movie player too is good after that it's down to personal preference
Try www.freewareppc.com for lots of freeware.

Sorry about your Feelings Chris.
I felt the same a few days back when I joined this forum.
But People who scorned at me were probably those who had never even heard about the forums I am Moderating on; (these forums have nothing to do with XDA developement however) But I can assure them that had they posted anything "seemingly stupid" on those forums I would have gladly helped them.
Vijay Was extremely helpful in explaining to me the way the world runs and the Way THIS forum Runs (excuse the caps).
He came to my rescue and set things right about it and I am glad that he is here as are some other members who have been very much helpful.
This forum is a Great place for newcomers as well as for experts.
At first if you dont understand things u might feel confused; but later on as you go thru the posts......things become clear.
At least they did for me.
I have read your posts and what you write was, what I felt just 2 weeks back when I joined, Only I took it all in my stride.
Chris maybe you had the guts to speak it out loud..

I don't like slapping anyone down, because who am I? But sometimes, I think people forget that we're all people with brains and familes and feelings, not just meaningless posts on a forum.

OK, I'm game. Normally, I've been on here a couple of months and am pretty good about just finding my answers via search, but no luck on this one. Maybe I am just lost in the huge number of posts in the DamageControl thread.
I've been on DamageControl since last Friday. I read about ESPN coming to Sprint TV, so I decided to reinstall Sprint TV and see how it looked.
I grabbed the apk from Flipz prekitchen and used the package installer on my phone to reinstall. Sprint TV worked fine. Then I opened it again up later to show my wife, and I got an error message "You must be a Sprint customer to use this application." Eventually, I tried uninstalling Sprint TV and reinstalling it. It worked on the first try again, but again, later tries gave me the "You must be a Sprint customer..."
Ideas?
damage isnt actually a sprint rom its a verizion rom so more then likely thats the problem and really wont be fixed till we have a sprint 2.1 release it might work on the legend roms though thats worth a try

its all about ease of ascess man one thread with mad problems is much better then spreading the problems out amongst multiple rom/custimaztion/literally every thread you can think of
Isn't it a idea to make a list of the costom ROM's you can get on this forum for your Topaz.
Some short information what you can do with the ROM, what does it change if you compaire it with the stock rom, etc, etc.
If you change this into a sticky everbody can quickly see what kind of ROM's are available for your Topaz.
As a rookie in this world I really like to see all of the ROM's but wich one should I take, there is to much information on a lot of different pages.
If you don't agree this plan, this post can be deleted. Just searching for easy start up's for beginners like me. I allready found the page how to flash your device, it's clearly

Yes I saw that even before posting it. The thing is there are a lot of ROMS so putting it up in a sticky isn't that easy to over see it all. At the moment there is no quick comparing, etc.

The mods unstuck it because there were too many sticky threads, they consolidated them into the one that is mentioned by ThrashMan.
It was an executive decision.
You are more than welcome to update the existing one with newer ROMs but please stick to the format.
I noticed Duttry's ROMs aren't even on there...

I see there is a radio rom here that you can flash that supposedly increases battery life and signal now does this rom work with Damage's rom (i prefer as video works) also if you do flash to this new rom what are some downsides to using it can you revert back to default radio?
None the less I have to also say jesu GREAT JOB GUYS this new rom has changed my phone comp both Fresh and Damages roms were leaps and bounds above sprints default and I am just dumb founded on why these guys dont work for htc or sprint themselves ill be donating at the beg of the month to both of you guys great work!

as for your question, was it really necessary to make a thread about this? if you saw the radio posted on a thread, simply click it and read the directions. use search to see if it works on damagecontrol. it makes things a lot faster and gets the forum less cluttered. there's even a tutorial on geekfor.me step by step for flashing the radio.

Definately. If you don't "something" gets left behind as, for sure, the startup gt i9000 logo at startup will still be there. At least, it was when I did it anyway.

it has NOTHING to do with i9000 or captivate roms, or even not wanting to answer the question...its called common sense, some people have it, and obviously some people dont. i question peoples common sense all the time and notice that as time goes on, people use less and less of it.

Just wondering if you have any done any quick searches. I have used the search function many many times and often found that even though the questions might have been answered before, they do not show up in the search. It's not like this question is posted on the Captivate Android Development section. It is posted in the right section so why ***** about it?
As to the OP, I wouldn't know since I haven't flashed a i9000 rom yet but if you have any problems, you know that you should go back to stock and flash cog.

Preach it brother! It has been verry frustrating getting info on any androis phone. It seems that the devloupers live in their on little world and are to good to help out someone who needs info.
I do have to chime in here and say that this is actually could have been answered with commone sense. i9000 is for the european community. So with that said always flash back to a stock condition when going either way from i897 to i9000 or i9000 to i897. Once on that base rom then you can choose to flash either back to stock or just flash over provided you are going to the same based rom
However I can say that even though this may not have been asked exactly before there are more then likely references to what to do in this instance in many of the threads. Again it also sometimes helps to think outside the box when doing a search as well.

seriously, though. go to ANY friggin ROM thread on these forums and the recommended way to flash is always FLASH BACK TO STOCK!!!! how hard is that? where did you get your rom? did it magically show up on your phone or did you download it from somewhere and follow some instruction on how to install it?
