upgrade 2.2 to 2.2.1

Hi guys
I have recently bought a second-hand SGS, after having used Iphone 3gs.
All nice, a few issues, you could help me with:
1. Wifi - I get it only through AllShare, read this is the solution. Correct.
2. GPS - installed Igo - works sometimes, some other time it takes 20 mins to get GPS signal. Solutions??
3. Lag + enter an app (AngryBirds for ex) and it turns whole screen black for 1-2 minutes?
4. In Kies on computer via USB it says:
Current Firmware: PDA:JP7/ Phone:JPP/ CSC:JP6 (ORO)
LATEST: PDA:JS4/ Phone:JPY/ CSC:JP1 (ORO)
A bit of background. This phone was on Orange Romania, the seller unlocked it for me, I'm on Vodafone Ro.
If I update to new firmaware:
- do I lose apps and settings?
- do I get a Orange branded version?
Right now, no orange bloatware is installed.
Many thanks guys!
The best solution: make a factory reset, put it into download mode and flash Gingerbread (latest 2.3.3 is an official version ). Your Galaxy will run amazing fast after doing this in comparison to now. You can make a backup with Titanium Backup (just save apps, but NO system data), but it's better not to restore but downloading from the market.

You can backup stuff with Titanium but is better to start from a fresh installation and redownlaod everything just to be sure.
You get the orange version only if you download the orange ones (for example from samfirmware), not for custom roms here.

com.android.phone crashing alot!

anyone experiencing this problem? I'm getting A LOT of crashes.
I'm not using any task killers what so ever.
Rooted or not rooted? Stock ROM? Custom ROM? Under what conditions does it crash?
Stock ROM and I have no idea what the circumstances are, it seems sporadic.
Hmm. Are you rooted? You could try fixing the permissions using the ROM Manager app if so. If not, perhaps a re-flashing of the RUU might be in order to fix it.
Hi!
I am having the same problem. My Acer Liquid E keeps crashing. It is reproduceable: when I log on the network the first call I receive is without problem, when I receive the second call com.android.phone crashes and the network is dropped (input SIM key). Then I can again receive one call without problem.
My phone is rooted (z4root) and I use Titanium Backup. I can solve the problem by resetting to factory settings. But it keeps coming again after a couple of days. Of course I would like to know what causes this but at first I would be very happy to know how to get rid of the problem when it is there ... Titanium is not so helpful:
When I restore the Titanium backups:
-I first restored my user applications plus settings without problems, after this everything still works
-Then I restored some of the green marked backups in Titanium Backup. After this the phone starts to have this problem again.
Does anybody know which backup this might be? I mean: solving the problem itsself would be great but at first it would be nice to be able to get the phone working quicker than factory reset. Maybe this could be achieved by resetting to an old backup with Titanium Backup (just need to know which one ...)
Help would be appreciated! Been browsing the net a long time and could find lots of ideas how to solve this but none worked so far.
My system settings:
-Acer Liquid E
-FroYo from the start (updated from .8 to .14 when I first had the problem)
-removed some apps from the rom - but nothing essential and I know that non-essential sounding things like maps or talk are actually essential. I removed things like twitter, roadsync, etc.

daniu, unfortunately it's unlikely anyone here will be able to help you as you have a completely different phone. This forum is only for the HTC Incredible S.
Hi!
I know ... but I am not really sure this is a problem of my specific phone. I read a lot about this kind of problems for many different phones. Mine is not really that common - but I think I will crosspost - thanks for the hint
Daniel
Actually this is also happened to my IS, running ARHD 1.1.5 with latest radio.
I notice this bug after i flashed my radio to non-stock radio.
I haven't try to revert back to the original radio, and the bug remains mystery.
com.android.phone FCs can be caused by incompatible older version sim cards. Try consulting a retail store of your carrier to check if there's a need to upgrade your sim card.

Hi!
I read about the old SIM-Card idea but I doubt it in my case cause the problem can be reinstalled with Titanium ...
EDIT: this link may be interesting for this problem.
Regards Daniel
I have had the same prob on virgin AU stock rom. Did factory reset and kept getting the same problem. Sent the phone back and they replaced it. Getting the same FC after about a month on the new phone :/
Hi!
I don't think that this is a hardware problem. That's why I think you can send your phone as often as you want. They cannot give you other software than the one you can get yourself ...

[Q] How to make Google Now to work ??

I bought my HTC one from a buyer. The phone was relocked and tempered. The ROM seemed to be stock. Google Now was working great...
Than to get OTA, i ran my original RUU and everything is back to stock now with OTA's.... but Google Now says " Google Now is not available in your country" .... changing a ROM can make Google Now work or what?

Anyone have a stock Nandroid backup for a recent One on Three (UK)?

As the title says..
CM or TWRP format would be good, but I'll try anything!
Unfortunately, being a dickhead, I've managed to screw my setup before I took a full Nandroid backup.
I'm not quite sure what happened, but Google Account Manager & Play Store refuse to work (with an "unfortunately xxx stopped working" message) so I can't use anything requiring a Google account.
I've searched the threads here, but haven't been able to come up with anything suitable.
I've managed to find a backup for the older ROM, ( M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID H3G__001 / 1.28.771.x (Three UK - Thanks to shrubz) ) which loads fine, but the touchscreen fails to work.
Any help much appreciated.
Or any way to get the screen working with the backup I have??
I am a sad bunny.

Restore from HTC Backup "stuck"

I got my HTC One M7 Dual SIM (t802w) phone back from service. Before I passed to the service I wiped my phone with factory recovery menu. I would like to restore my phone status from HTC Backup as it was before sent to service. Basically looks right (SMS, WIFI, calls restored) but when "restoring application" (or similar because I am using in Hungarian language) seems that goes into a loop saying "58 of 64" and start over and over again. At the same time application installation in progress. When application installation itself was ended the "restoring application" loop still happens. I go to the Google Play and there was around nine more update. I updated all. Then got still updates even Google Play says there is no upgrades, for example fot HTC Backup application itself. The mentioned loop still displaying "58 of 64" and start from "1 of 64". When upgraded HTC Backup the loop disappeared but restoring process is finished (or canceled). Then I am not able to run manually restoring process because the system says that my already restored. That means I lost (or was not able to restore) a lot of settings for applications. My widgets settings and my homepage setup gone (or was not able to restore).
Is there any known reason for this? Any process to solve this loop and able to restore my phone? It is very frustrating that I have backup and I cannot use therefore I need to setup all my application again.
I am using the latest stock HTC firmware and my device is not rooted. I found some topic similar to this but those are because there was some version or firmware changing. I am not like that I would like to restore exactly to the same firmware as it was.
