No, there is no slot for a sim card in my CDMA Diamond. The radios in the CDMA and GSM phones are very different. There is no way the radios will work.

Oh I see thank you for that information I just figgured because my GSM diamond has that option for WCDMA thats why I think the Diamond works both ways.

Anytime, I almost bought one for telus and it wouldn't even work on Sprint, they are both CDMA.

Common mistake, WCDMA and CDMA are completely different things. WCDMA is UMTS, high speed 3G for GSM phones. CDMA is its own type of network separate from GSM, using no SIM cards. Many people mix them up, but just make sure to note the difference. ;-)

Has EDGE, not EVDO, this is a GSM Diamond, plus the numbers are 3700, that is also a telltale sign.
That's a standard UMTS/WCDMA + GSM version.
But for AT&T, you will only get GSM coverage. The UMTS/WCDMA 3G on that phone runs on 900/2100mhz, whereas AT&T uses 850/1900mhz for its 3G.
If you want to have 3G right away, you should go pick one up from BestBuy which is selling the 3G 850/1900mhz version. Of course if you don't want 3G (or don't want to pay AT&T for a 3G plan) then it won't matter.
As you can see on the web site theres 2 version of HTC diamond one is 3 band and one is 4 band is there any significant difference? because currently I bought the Quad band from that web site Im kinda confused because for some reason theres many version of this phone.... and one more thing the 3G for AT&T is that the one they call the Media Net because I added that to my service which will start on the end of this month I just want to know before i spend money on something that wouldnt work on my phone thank you once again for the knoledgeable people here...

X1a/X1i ROM and Radio Support

I'm wondering if all ROMs and radios are compatible with both the X1a and X1i or just one of the two. Thanks in advance!
Yes. All ROMs and Radios are compatible with X1a and X1i.
Thanks! And also, all radios are compatible with all carriers, correct?
Yeah thats right.
Although, I would note that in my experience, the Radio that came with my X1i last year (probably the oldest one and original Stock Radio for the device), did not keep signal with the UK Hutchison 3G Network (2100MHz UMTS/HSDPA)... But Radios from 1.10 to 1.14 are fine. ... Thats just an observation I made.
So any news on 1700-2100 3G support for T-Mobile US? Are there any radios available that are compatible with this network?

no update? im still waiting to see if i can speed up my all powerful X1 to my scrawny g1's speed
Radios are from I gather are merely firmware updates for the communication radios (GSM, 3G, GPS, Wifi, BT) in your device. You can't change from a X1i to a X1a with a flash, you'd have to change the hardware.

There are loads of sites available through google (http://www.google.com/search?q=diff...-ca&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1) which details the difference between the CDMA and GSM cell phone network technologies.
Seeing as you're from Canada basically Bell & Telus = CDMA. Rogers = GSM
Thank you Rumball

i'm not for sure, but, i don't believe you will. if i recall, T-Mo USA uses the 1700/2100 bands. by the way, which HD model do you have: the T8282 or the T8285?
I have the T8282 model

so have you tried your phone with a T-Mo 3G sim? i recall reading that T-Mo must grant 3G access to 3G subscribers (certainly could have misinterpreted what i read). it's my understanding that both the T8285 and T8282 models have active 2100 bands. this being the case, you'd think one could at least get 3G service on the 2100 band.
No T-mobile 3g
Both models do not support USA 3g T-mobile.
OK Thanks, I was hoping someone on here cooked up somrthing to make it work.
Unfortunately not.

ROM for Sprint phone on AT&T USA network

I have a Sprint touch pro 2, SIM unlocked by http://www.htc-unlocks.com/, to use on an AT&T USA carrier.
I don't know what kind of ROMs I can flash on it. Do I use a gsm ROM, a CDMA ROM, (I understand there is a difference, correct?)
It was a Sprint phone (CDMA), but I'm now using it on AT&T (gsm).
Could someone please list a few examples of ROMs I can flash on this phone?
thanks
CDMA ROMs, GSM won't work.
CDMA ROMs
Can you give me a link or 2 to some CDMA ROMs, I've looked and looked but can't find any!
thanks much!
go to ppcgeeks.com. that site mainly has cdma roms
Had a general question about the Sprint TP2. If unlocked, will it work on the 3G T-Mobile USA network??? According to PhoneScoop.com, it appears that the Sprint TP2 IS compatible with the WCDMA 2100 mode. Could anyone confirm this?
There's also a CDMA sub-forum for Rhodium here. But as has been said, go to ppcgeeks for CDMA ROMs.
