Backup for Root Users - myTouch 3G, Magic Apps and Games

Does anybody know where I can get this? I just got a new Magic because my old one bricked, and I had it on my old one & made a backup on my SD card, but now I can't find it to restore my backup.
I was sure I got it with the fatality hero rom before, but I just installed that on my new Magic & it's not there, and I can't find it in the marketplace either. Does anybody have an .apk of it or mind pointing me in the right direction?
Thanks.

It's in the market, just redownloaded it 2 days ago. Just do a search "backup"

Just looked again, it's not there for me.

I just took another look as well, can't find it any where either. Maybe the Dev is updating or pulled it. You could email him direct. http://blackgins.wordpress.com/

MOD EDIT
Thread moved to Sapphire applications and games forum

Well, you are not only one... i can't download it either...
even http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.bg.smsbk is empty page...

I couldn't find it at the market this morning neither, good thing i have use "Backup for Root Users" to backup the 'apk' which include the app.
I uploaded the version i have here:
Link remove by moderator. If anyone wants it then download it through official channels such as Market or developer.

Removed from the market
The dev might have pulled the app from the market due to bugs, see his blog post http://blackgins.wordpress.com/2009/08/29/news-on-backup-for-root-users/. That post talks about version 3.3, but the last version I've seen in the market (2010-April-02, no updates since) was 4.1.4. I've uploaded it here:
Download Backup for root users 4.1.4 APK
Link remove by moderator. If anyone wants it then download it through official channels such as Market or developer.
NOTE: I've just tested this version on a rooted Nexus One with CyanogenMod 6 RC1, and it couldn't restore the SMSes and MMSes. No wonder the author removed the app from the market. There is still an old version that might work, Backup for root (old).

The APK thread (freewares only)

Hi,
Due to the impossibility to download apps from Android Market for thoses who are running Haykuro G build, I suggest to post here some "must have" apps in order for us to continue to live without the market for some days/weeks
Personally, I'd need AKNotepad, ASTRO, AndFTP, Android VNC, Meebo.
Can someone post the latest version of theses apps here?
I've already tried to find them elsewhere but it was always old versions.
As these apps are free I do not think it breaks the T&Cs of this forum
Thanks in advance
i need meebo, i will post all my APks soon.
That's a great idea but I believe haykuro found a work around. He posted earlier that he was able to download 10 market apps. without troubles. He said the weekly update will be later tonight may be morning (basically said he had to work until 10pm). Don't stop on that account though, we need a better, more up-to-date thread for .apk s

Does somebody have Sprite Backup Beta 2 for Android installed?

Hello, this would be a big favour to me and a wonderful help. I backed up my data with Sprite backup, installed a new rom, and was very sad to see that Sprite backup is no longer available!
If somebody has Beta 2 of Sprite Backup installed, would it be possible to send me the apk file? That would be so so so wonderful.
I am planning buying the new version when it is out, but I don't know if that will help me with my beta 2 backup and I sort of need my contacts back.
Thanks a lot!
It's still there just have to buy it ($4.99), if you bought it before it should be in your downloads section in the market. Just redownload it.
Clinton
It's not available to me, more importantly though, I need the Beta 2 version in order to restore my Beta 2 backup files.
I would be happy to buy and try and see if the new version can restore beta files but it is not available to me.
Here it is, you need market enabler installed to be able to see/buy it in Canada.

dancerobot I sent you a PM.

You can find the beta 2 download at

Market enabler doesn't seem to allow you to see paid and copyrighted apps. I'm not sure why but I know me (and many others) can see paid apps with ME but not apps like this.
Also, Julian, thank you, I saw it on the sprite site. Hooray! I hope this thread helps some others locate it and retrieve their data.
Thanks again everyone.

Anybody have this apk?

With the problems we are experiencing with the market on a few of our eris roms I was wondering if someone could help me out. I cant access the my verizon app and was wondering if someone could post the apk. Ive searched but havent came across it. Its a free app so there shouldn't be any problems posting it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Edit: Nevermind, I restored a previous nandroid backup, pulled the apk that I wanted, and restored to my most previous backup.
Here you go
Check the Links or QR code in my signature, my market app restores the market.

It force closed on my in the middle of doing it's thing I guess, i hit wait but it just locked up and sat there for ten minutes. Ive since installed the V3 leak with full market but I just thought i'd let you know it didn't work for me. Seems to work for everyone else though so no worries.

Swype for Nexus 1

I am trying to look for it on the forums, but it seems to me that it was a beta version from swype that was released to android. Is that version no longer working, and are there any non-buggy versions out there? I want to buy a nexus one, but I am hooked on swype for my HD2, lol.

What's up with swype references being broken?
Have all threads about it been deleted from XDA??
The thread this one links too and even the one linked in this official post have been deleted.
So, again, how can I get Swype for my N1??
The .apk I found in the web said it was expired and asked to download the latest version, which doesn't exist apparently...
Please help.
Since the beta expired, I'm thinking that all mentions of a swype apk are considered warez...or something
Swype has asked on their website to not use these other versions. If you sign up on their website, they seem to send out an update every 3-4 months that you can download onto your android device if you don't have it pre-installed already. However, this latest update seems to be a little screwy at times.

You get Swype by signing up for access to their closed beta when they are accepting new people. Swype is not released to the public, so links posted to it well keep getting deleted. The only legit way to install Swype is by logging in to your Swype account and installing it from their dashboard.

[Q] Stock Android 2.2 Calendar files

Does anyone know where I can get the stock Android 2.2 Calendar?
*bump*
Does anyone know where to find an up to date apk file of the stock Android calendar (not the TouchWizCalendar)?
Is there still no better solution than the detour around CyanogenMod?
It's in the App Market.

Thank you for the info, but in my post I asked for the apk, a file which can be downloaded on the PC.
I believe this is it.
Calendar.apk
Here is CalendarProvider.apk just in case you need it.
Ian
Thanks again, this is exactly what I need at the moment.
A link to mediafire or any other filehoster is a good solution for the current release. In order to spare you from being bothered again in the future by me or anyone else with the same request I would like to know if there is a "direct source" which always has an up to date version?
I just did a search on Google, downloaded and uploaded it to Mediafire.
Google is the easiest way to get almost any file you need.
Also, most cooked ROMs come with an app folder with all current apps for the OS release.

I did that too, but I did not find any source apart from the cooked ROMs and some filehoster links which did not seem to be very up to date or "official".
Don't keep me in suspense which non-ROM Website did you use as source for the mediafire download link you provided?

I already mentionened, that I want to know if there is a better/more direct solution than following some outdated links posted by users in forums or always checking if an app is included in some mod.
I often come across free apps which can only be downloaded in the market. I already got the market running on the Android emulator (which requires some modifications described in several tutorials). But the market on the emulator does only show a limited number of apps compared to the market on a real mobile phone.
So the motivation of my request is also learning if there is a better solution than the previously mentioned workarounds.

Not that I know. I use the search on this forum and Google.
I found the calendar.apk file here.
Google led me there.
I download some of the new cooked ROMs and look at the files included with them. Sometimes there are newer versions of files. This is not quick or easy, but it's what I do.
