Something Similar to tcalendar? - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

Does anyone know of a good widget calender app that will show the date? There is tcalendar, which is exactly what I'm looking for, but doesn't seem to work on the Hero.
If anyone knows of anything similar, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks..
Marc

check pure calendar widget. one of my favorites

Thanks for the reply, but I'm looking for one that just today's date and once you tap on it, it takes you to your calendar.
Thanks..

I downloaded tCalendar as well because of the day/date display. That bit works but it does not launch the calendar app. I left a comment in the Android Market to that effect and hopefully it will get fixed.

Yeah, I got the same thing. It's exactly what I'm looking for, if it just launched the calendar app.

Might be missing the point here, but...
The HTC widget shows the date (both the small and large versions) and when you tap the date it opens the Calendar app.

Thanks..that is helpful, yes. But, was hoping there was just a small icon.
Thanks..

ok, without sounding like a noob... what is this?
thanks
EDIT: nevermind... found it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=600959
Oddly enough, after I install this its not showing up in the "Widgets" list? Anyone know why? I've installed it like any other .apk file i've installed before.
Update:Figured it out, the app is called "News And Weather". Sweet application!
Genie Widget - Are sources available somewhere?
Is this kind of backport a "binary hack" or are sources available somewhere?
If yes, were can I find them?
Thanks

Same here, I don't see it either after installation.
I found it under News and Weather in my Android Widgets section. The news and weather icon is fine, but the weather only app displays with font too large to display all the information.

long press ur screen
under ur "widgets" category select news and weather
I'm new here and have sort of a dumb question. How do you get this onto your Eris? I mean since you can't install from sd card without root right?
edit: Nevermind. I had a hunch that if I downloaded it onto my phone, Astro would pick it up.
I uninstalled it. Reason being because whenever I would wake the phone up I would have a major lag in Sense. I found out that the Genie Widget would almost try to play catch up with the way it slides through all of the news it has on the widget. I put up with it for a couple of days but then I just got tired of always having to wait for it to catch up with itself. Cool app though
I haven't had any lag or problems with it. Although I disabled most of the news and mainly use it for the weather. htc's weather widget wouldn't update right for me

If you have the Android SDK you can use adb to install it. It's not too user friendly though, you have to know what the directory is and stuff.
It's faster once you get the hang of it.
Here is a clear version if anyone's interested.

Weather Widget update

Hi,
I wonder if there is any way to make the Accuweather widget to update the location automatically ?
I come from a Note 2 which widget automatically updates its location, and it is something I lack.
Of course the possibility to pickup something from the Play Store remains but still I would be keen to use
the genuine apps.
thx !
I would like to know this too! Cant get it to update location
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Ditto, I like the weather widget would like to stick with it. Anyone?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
On my one you click on the app which makes the settings appear in the top right corner, then you can set it to use your location every half hour, you also have to allow location services in phone settings.
Edit...
Ah ok I see what you're saying, after coming to work my phone still says my old location and I've been here more than half an hour, but even then it's not exactly accurate.

Thank you for your reply. I have already done that. the weather forecasts and trends are updated every hour (it's the way I have set it up) but not the location.
The Sony-built-in News/Weather widget allows this, by the way. There is Accuweather and then there is "News & Weather". See if that works for you.

yes I'll give it a try !
Even if the Sony widget is quite ugly !
Indeed, the Sony widget is updating its location. I'm going to stick with it a bit.

[Q] Pedometer widget?

Hi, is there any way to display current state of pedometer as a widget? Something like built in pedometer clock, but without the clock, and maybe with a personalized icon. Perhaps a Zooper widget?

All data for the pedometer is placed in /data/data/com.sec.android.app.pedometer/databases/pedometer.db so making a simple widget thats updated when you turn the screen on would be a piece of cake...

Pretty please with a cherry on top ^^
Would it be possible to add start/pause button as well without entering the app itself?

To read the data from the db is a simple task, to alter the info of the application is a different thing.
I´ll have to take a look in the pedemometer.apk to see if I can find any intents that support external triggering.

I´m planning to start the work of a test-version of a Pedometer widget today. I´ll post here when I got something worth testing.
Sadly I haven´t found anything usefull yet regarding the start and stopp. I concentrate to get the visual first and will digg deeper later on.

I'we done some testing with different results. Seems like the pedometer gets disturbed sometimes and stops counting until I enters the pedometer app again. But have only tested a little inside, no long walks outside so it may just be a lag in the update.
I can release an alpha just for testing purposes. I'll try to get it out tonight.

Here is a first output as a test:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9508466/WalkWidget_v0.1a.apk
Update of the count is done upon Screen on or tapping the widget.
The total is a addition of Run steps, Walk steps and something called Up & Down steps, doesn´t really know what the last is but it´s a counter anyways.
Try it and see how it behaves.

That sounds pretty awesome and I'd like to thank you for working on this.
To me the pedometer app seems really limited. I can't see what I did the day before, or how well I'm doing over all on a weekly or monthly average since it doesn't seem to return any data beyond just one day. Is that kind of a thing something you'd be willing to address maybe as part of a non-widget screen in your widget? (like tap the widget to go in to see more verbose stats)

Stock calendar app

Anyone else think that the 5.0 stock calendar app is a step backwards, no month view on phone I mean WTF?

I find the new design to be frustrating indeed. Don't see the point of removing the month view.
Tapping on the month name, will reveal a full calendar..
There's a Month view.
Swipe left, right to see the following month or previous.
yeah...but no decent calendar widget either? any suggestions for a great calendar app with widgets to choose from? How about Jorte calendar?
Yes it does. Love this calendar
The old calendar had a month view with your actual appointments displayed on it this new one just tells you the dates and then I have to remember which day to select it to see it. The old one i could see straight away what i had going on all month.
I dont understand how stupid people who change these things are what goes through their head? You are meant to add features not take them all away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the best calendar widget hands down. I have it on my phone and it's the only one that I've used for a long time.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.underwood.agenda
I also think they messed up with the calendar. They need to bring back that original 30 day default view with those colored lines for different events. The 5 day view is cluttered, unreadable and difficult to navigate. I like the material design but it's not complete. I sent Google a feedback and the research team contacted me about it. They sent me some additional survey about the new calendar where i expressed what what was good and bad about it. Hopefully fix is on the way.
P.S. I encourage others to send your feedback to Google.
Open calendar - Open that side menu/hamburger menu - all the way on the bottom you will see "help & feedback"
You think this is a step back? I like it

When month view is as useless as this, yes.
They've gone for aesthetics rather than functionality. I like it too.
Looks like they finally listened.
I use aCalender.

[Q] using agenda on android wear

I have a LG G watch R since yesterday. I have been trying out all te functions and different apps but I can't seem to get it to make an appointment in my google agenda. I have tried saying different things using google Now but the only thing i get it to do is to view my agenda for today. Is there a way to make entry's in my agenda using the smartwatch?
I'm still trying to find out how everything works.
Use an app like "CalenGoo" and you can add calendar event and also Task.
Thank you for your reply. So at the moment the watch can't do this by itself? It needs an app for that? That sounds strange to my but i guess i will look into that suggested app. Thanks.

Try saying "Agenda for March" - it showed up next weeks appointments (test entries) for me - otherwise if you just say "Agenda" you get today only. If you say "Agenda for month" you get full size calendar page on the screen which you cant see - and a warning that it takes a long time to display.
Jeff
Yes you can display your event but not add event without specific app
