Music transfer from computer to G1 with artwork? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For a windows computer? I need a program that will sync music with artwork to my G1 artwork got from iTunes.

Have you tried doubletwist ?

Yes but before I sync I need a program that add's automaticly some album artwork.

Android looks for the Artwork in the ID3-Tags, so you need to put your covers in the ID3Tag, i didn't find a good app for it yet, but you can try MP3Tag.

Using it right know but how do you batch download artwork?

No option for it

After spending hours one night using a Windows program to edit the tags, I resynced all my music only to find the art still did not sync. Then I saw some screen shots from mikey1022 in a development thread. A screenshot showed a program in his app drawer called album art grabbed. So I downloaded it and it worked. Even for all my Christian artists(not mainstrream so I'm assuming they would be harder to find.) The author said all music apps would use the art from that program.

WOW, nice app!
Thanks for the tip!

Windows Media Player? It tries to find art work on the internet AFAIK.
I hate to say it....but.... iTunes is pretty easy to use when you need to mess with your mp3 tags. My wife has iPod so we already have it installed so I just use that, Find my artwork in Google image search, copy highlight album in itunes lib and just add it to the song info. Pretty easy IMHO

*sigh*Its me again...looking for more apps.

My friend downloaded a program for his G1 called Tunewiki. I was wondering if there was a similar program for our windows mobile devices.
What is it? Is it like Music ID that comes installed from ATT?
No. Its a music player that automatically searches for and displays lyrics. It also gives options to see music videos for the song you are playing on youtube plus other neat features.
Update: Found a nice music player that downloads lyrics called MiniLyrics, but nothing as in depth an tunewiki. Maybe one day the devs behind tunewiki may port it to WM...only time will tell.

Im pretty sure there must be something like this among those 20-30 thousand apps for WM.
I remember using some player that displayed lyrics (if attached) while playing mp3, and it had option to find lyrics on some website. I can't tell you details because it was so many years ago when I was using VOQ smartphone, but what I mean is: keep searching

Good point, tunewiki is no longer available for new users. They complain that there are too many users for what they can support. I'm looking at the minilyrics now.
Well, I sent an email to the guys over at TuneWiki, and according to them, they have ports for WM and Blackberry in the works. Its pre-alpha though so it might be awhile. Oh well, at least they are planning to bring this wonderful app to WM!

Album Art / S2R Player Help

Hello All...
I have spent DAYS reading here and other places on the web looking for an easy 1step solution for my problem... I have installed S2P and it is great... I love to play the game "Anything your phone can do, mine can do better" to iphone people.. lol.. Anyways, here is my problem..
The S2P software was not displaying the album art so I couldn't do the cool flip throug hte CD thing... So in Monday I decided to try to fix that... I did some reading, and checked if my WIndows Media Player Mobile would display it.. it wasn;t either...
I WAS jsut dragging and dropping onto my SDHC memory card... Read that is the problem as I need to sync it using windows media player on my computer to get it to work... I tried that.. nothing.. I deleted the partnership and tried again.. Still nothing.. I erased the mediaplayer data file from the root directory.. tried again.. nothing nothing nothing..
I read about downloading the cover manually and inserting it as folder.jpg.. That worked perfect.. The problem with that is I have nearlt 50GB of music files.... And that would take forever... Isn;t there a way to just make the hidden album art visable so it goes when I drag and drop? I remember in the OLD days you could see the JPG files in the CD's folder... On my computer, the album art IS There as I can see the image when I use explorer or when I browse my library using MEdia Player... I tried the old trick of making the entire music folder and all sub-directories invisible and then visible to un-hide anything that was hidden, that didn;t work.. I also tried some programs such as AV Album Art Fixer (I just get an error when that program tries to load), MP3Tag and a few others... My problem is I am looking for something that I just point the program at my music folder, and it just either enables all existing album art to a visible copyable file, or something that will automaticall download/copy/whatever the images to the correct folders. Then when I copy them it will "just work"...
I don;t mean to sound lazy, but it is a big pain to have to manually click every album one at a time or to find them myself, download the image, rename it and copy it... Also, please don;t yell at me for not having found the answer myself in another forum or website as I really have been looking for days...
My phone is a HTC 8925 / AT&T Tilt.. But it is unlocked and I am using another carrier (I got Wifi access as well a slower wireless internet working on it). I also have the USB Sync with it as well...
My computer is a Core 2 Quad system running Vista Ultimate x64 edition.
Thank in advance for your help... I really appreciate it!
And on a side note.. a BONUS you could help with... when I scroll through the CD's I manually downloaded the art for.... it scrolls the "narrow" way... I would really prefer it to scroll sideways instead so the CD image is bigger... I tried "opening" the phone to change the rotation, but that didnt; work and seemed to cause problems... This is a minor thing but would be an added bonsu if you coudl help me with that as well... Again, Thank you so much for you help in advance...

WinampRemote

I don't know if you guys are familiar with Winamp but I use it on a everyday basis and wondering would there ever be an app that can access the server to connect to my phone
God I would love that app.
Or better yet, a remote for Songbird.

It pretty much kills every other player out there.
I agree, i use winamp very frequently, and would love to control it remotely. The only way i can thing of is via some sort of web front end. Search the plugins on the winamp site and tell us if you find anything of value.
I looked but many of them seemed unsuitable.
Try the BrowseAmp plugin for Winamp.
You guys know that orb is winamp remote right?

Nah we're looking for a winamp remote CONTROL, a bit like how gmote works, except specific to winamp as gmote seems to launch its own player and i'd prefer to be able to contol winamp using a normal app.
its possible to do it using the andriod-vnc-viewer, but its not that easy, gonna check out browse amp and then edit the post
Edit:
Tried BrowserAmp, Wow, its badass. http://www.thasler.org/index.html
skins that are worth a look in :

i would suggest a few improvements, like a button to add the whole folder to a playlist, but for the size is perfect.
Thanks

Album Art

i know it's an old issue and i has been posted plenty of times but does anybody know if there has been a new development in the way to convert album art for music files so they will show up on the Dream. With all these new cool music widgets it just seems silly not to have album art for my music. I tried the windows media player way and all my music still does not have albums when put onto my G1.
If you have already read all the old discussions and you didn't follow the instructions in them, what would be the point of starting a new thread? You'll just get the same information, namely install and run MP3Tag or some other automated metadata editor with cover art functionality.
Album Art Grabber in the market will retrieve all the album artwork for your music.
i made this thread because i did not find anything new and useful in the old search thread and like i said i wanted to know if anything new has been found out on how to do it.
Thank you that App worked great.

[Q] How to hide files in Galaxy S?

Hello everyone.
I was adding some files to the Galaxy S. Now I want some of them to be hidden so that they do not show in gallery or video player (incase of videos) for everyone and I can make them visible when I want them. Is it possible? If yes can someone please tell how to go about it or is there any app for it?
Regards
keep a blank file with the extension .nomedia in the folder that you want to exclude from media scanning..
You could also use "Vaulty Free" app that moves selected images and videos into a virtual vault which then requires a password to open and view. This also ensures that they do not show up in gallery and video player.
Hope this helps.
put the files you want to be hidden in a folder, and put a dot '.' before the name, like this:
.folder
this will hide it if you have, 'show hidden files' unchecked in options

I tried vaulty free. It looked to be a good app which would do the job but somehow when I locked videos through vaulty free they showed as "Images" in the vault! which wouldnt play. Also it took quite some time for 1 video too be transfered which was about 40 mb. So I guess it would take too much time if the quantity and size is large.

I had known about the nomedia trick but it displayed the files in the "my files" option. Adding a . before the name looks promising.
When done with nomedia file I guess it would solve the purpose. Would have to try this combination.
Thanks for the help folks.

The default action when you login to Vaulty is to display the stored images. Click Menu --> Videos to see and play the videos. Yes it does take a long time to transfer large videos.

Did that but it doesnt show anything when "videos" is selected and when images is selected files are show but they dont play!
Strange!! It works for me perfectly. I am assuming that you are able to play those videos outside vaulty using the stock video player.
How did you add the videos to vaulty?
The way I added is while the video was playing in the stock video player --> Menu --> Share Video --> Vaulty Free.
The only issue I have with Vaulty is I can play only one video at a time after which I will have to reenter the password.

Hmm yeah that is strange indeed. The videos work fine in the stock player but arent recognised in the vaulty free. It may work again if I reinstall the app but I will first try the other method as I would have large no. of files and adding them with Vaulty would take much time and as you just said it wont help if I have to enter the pass again and again after watching each video!
