Finding Device ID on Opal - Touch Viva, MDA Basic General

How can I find the Device ID on Touch Viva (OPAL)?
My PDA has a Italian ROM, if somebody know how I do that, I really appreciate.
Thanks

Take out the battery and look at the sticker on the body.

S/N or P/N
Excuse-me but I'm looking for a ID Device and nothing about S/N or P/N;
I need the ID Device to activate my software TTN7 wich i use with a external gps antenna!
Thank you.

Cingular 8125 bluetooth issues

Hey guys..
Well i want to star by saying this site is asome and alot of helpul information..
Thank you to those who work hard to help others...
Well let me start by explaning a lil of my problem that im having with this phone..
I happen to love this phone just hate the Rom that cingular or HTC has for it.. Well i have a BMW that comes with bluetooth and it shows the calls on my car screen but i know its a 100% issue with the phone that i can't access my contact to the car.. I try every other phone infact also a friend has a PDA with tmobile and that works fine.. But my Cingular 8125 just acts stupid in my car.. I when ahead and follow the intruction for the update of the rom that is posted here for the phone.. I when ahead and unlock it.. It work ok... Then i upgarded to the custom AKU 2.3 ROM which also install good.. My question is? It is the current rom version there is that has been made or there is a better one? the reason for my question cause i see that when i check the device info i see the rom itself didn't change much and its still giving me a problem with the bluetooth on my car ..
I have this as follows:
Rom Ver. 1.5.4.2 WWE
Rom Date: 11/8/05
radio ver. 02.25.11
protocol ver. 4.1.13.12
extrom ver. 2.25.11.102
Please anyone can help me.. i would be truely greaful for the help.. I been working on this for days and can't harly sleep anymore trying to fix this problem...
Also wondering why my shows the Rom Ver 1.5.4.2 when i just did the AKU 2.3 which shows the rom /radio etc should look like this:
2.25.11.1 WWE
5/11/06
RADIO 02.25.11
PROTOCOL 4.1.13.12
Ext ROM 2.25.11.102
You need to CID unlock before you try to upgrade.
Your phone is not CID unlocked.
Its there a way to confirm if its unlock or lock becuase I even have the unlock files and the lock files the software makes before doing the unlock and it rebooted phone and it said that was the confermation that the phonone would be unlock..
Well here another thing, I just took my parents Tmobile phone and put there sim card on my phone it it works.. It won't work before when it was lock..
I beleive that means its unlock.. Unless if there is another lock your speaking off and im not sure.. Im sorta new to the whole cell phone thing..
Ok it looks like i have a bit of a problem..
As per the dirrections it looks like everything thing when well with the unlocking.. The phone is unlock when i used a Tmobil Sim Card it works ...
But when i try to load the rom To 2.5.11.1
but it looks like it just gives me the 1.5.4.2 wwe then i did it again .. It tells me congratulations the phone is ready to used..
when i check the ROm ver is still the same as before..
lanceny, the SIM unlock and CID are two different unlocks. You must CID unlock to change ROM. SIM unlocks allow you use other SIM cards. CID unlock will allow you to upload different ROM.

The top portion of the copy/paste shows the SIM unlock, notice the input. The SECOND portion (lower half) is a CID unlock. To update the ROM on a Cingular 8125, which is CID locked, you will have to unlock the CID, for my particular version it was C for CID unlock. Please note - this will VOID your warranty - so do so at your own risk.

What problem are you having with the BMW car kit and your phone?
The Issue I have is that you cant scroll through the contacts with the steering wheel.
So far the only fix I have found is from www.jetwaremobile.com. After installing that I can now scroll through my contacts. When somoene calls me it shows the caller ID on the screen but it doesnt work perfectly. When someone calls me I get *me lastname meaning I get the * and a few letters of the first name then I get the full last name. I havent figured out why that has happened but at least I can make outgoing calls with the steering wheel.
Hope that helps.
I can't view the contact at all...
the phone doesn't let the car pick up my contact list...
saids contact empty.
i just updated the ROm i will let you know later today if it work or not..
with the contact
Also mengesb thank you so much that was the problem.. I fell so stupid cause i thought it was only one lock and i had done it.. I guess i was wrong and i thank you so much..
On Guys thank you all for all the help..
The new Rom its working ok...
The Problem that i first thought it would get fix with the new rom 2.25.11.1 WWE i thought it would fix on issue with the bluetooth, Well it did Not ... Still having a problem with my Cingular 8125 and getting the phone book to Syn with my BMW Bluetooth system..
For some reason the Car trys to pull the Phone Book but it still shows on the screen of the car Phone Book Empty.. Not sure what else to do and not sure if Rom 2.25.11.1 WWE is the latest there is.. If anyone knows of any newer one that may fix this issue please let me know.
And to answer the previest question.. With the issue of the stearing weel button, it doesn't work as well with me.. My caller id on the screen of the car shows the number doesn't show any name. Maybe thats because the phone book won't show out in the car to show the name that is associated witht he phone book number..
Please anyone can help me...

Hey Red,
I don't use Beemer BT but I've skimmed the site you posted and just have a thought (probably nothing but what the hey).
If you are using any filters to determine what contacts are synced with your car BT make sure you don't have a typo in any of the fields..

Thanks for the input but what typos would you mean? All of my contacts are displayed like that when someone calls me. Maybe its an outlook thing as my contacts are listed in outlook lastname, first and that is how they are displayed on the phone. I did change them to first name last and I get the same result.
Suggestiions?

Yes, I done just that...
The software jetwaremobile doesn't make it work as well..
Ok the main problem i have on the BMW is that the Bluettoth doesn't allow the contact to work on the BMW screen. I can Pair with the car and all.. I can receive and make calls just find.. But i have to make the calls from the phone itself.. Because when i used the car phonebook then it tells me its empty when i have 382 contacts on the phone.. as you may know it trys to save on the phone memory not in the Sim card.. BUt not sure if thats the causing the problem. But since i install the jetwaremobile software when i click on phonebook on the BMW screen it tells me Please wait and i let it 30 minutes or more and then just freezes the whole phone part of the system.. I have to go to the back and reset the system otherwise the phone will not work again.. I try to do this numerious amount of times.. I also try to send contact one by one on pairing mode but freezes as well. I try other phones and they work in about 30 secound the contact its on the screen..
I don't mean to sound like i don't know what im doing but i know im doing it right atleast to the intructions from here hehehe
Let me know if you know any other way.. I'll try to take picture of it and post them ok.. If its ok with you...

Orange SPV M700 - It has GPS?

Hi everyone
I am new here and this is my first post, so please go easy on me.
I wanted to start by congratulating all the contributors on this forum on a great job done.
I’ve just ordered an SPV M700 on Orange and have a couple of questions
1- I need to unlock the phone to be able to use an O2 Sim card in it.
2- I want to be able to use The GPS in the phone.
To use the O2 SIM do I just need to do a SIM unlock, or do I have to do a CID unlock to? Err what is CID in the first place
My understanding is that the Orange ROM has the GPS enabled, am I correct? If so, all I have to do is install software like Tomtom Navigator and all should work, right?
As you can see, I am not that technical and do not want to mess the phone up by venturing into un-chartered territories.
Thank you for any help
1, yes you just need a SIM unlock. You will find the necessary tools on this forum to do this.
2, it seems that the current batch of Orange phones are shipping with the gps enabled rom, so yes just install tomtom.
I think CID stands for country ID (or something like that), you only need to unlock this if you intend to install firmware from another country e.g. the gps enabled Depod firmware. Providing your orange supplied phone has their most recent firmware you won't have to worry about this.
I've just found out what orange are doing. ONLY their Business phones have it enabled.
So if you order the phone on a personal account you don't get the GPS enabled.
However if you order it on a business account you can have it.
The third option is to learn French and flash the publicly available french rom to it.
(That's assuming you want it to be supported by orange themselves)
Else use one of the cooked roms and you're sorted.
EDIT: I've just got off the phone to Orange. The third option above would still be covered by insurance. Though if anything goes wrong it would have to be listed as a technical fault and go back to their free post address.
no, you are wrong, i am personal account, the rom is gps enabled
You flashed it to enable it. The GPS ROM is there but with one of the earlier firmware versions which doesn't enable it. (I got my information directly from Orange. If you were lucky enough to get a business phone sent out to you then I'm extremely jealous (and ask you again to upload your firmware ) but after about 40 mins of bouncing me around centers and giving me lame excuses or saying they were the wrong department I finally got a straight answer out of 2 seperate departments saying this was indeed the case)
If you look on the Orange site:
Business:
http://www.business.orange.co.uk/se...s&c=OUKDevice&cid=1044134008063&extarg1=Phone
It can deliver you directly to your meetings, thanks to it's built-in GPS with Sat Nav from Orange.
Personal:
http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/handset/orange_spv_m700/features
No mention of any GPS is listed.
I know the GPS is there and functions as I've used a cooked ROM to enable it.
Plus as has been pointed out you can freely get the Orange France version of the firmware which has GPS enabled.
no no no, i didn't flash it before enable it, i can use the gps with tomtom 6 when i first got the phone, i need to flash it because i need to make it sim unlock..( i got it on 28/02/07, from the orange shop)
and even the manual with my spv m700, it also mention about the gps.

This is good News
I will get mine tomorrow - hopefully
Alas, I need to use an O2 Sim card though, so I must go down the SIM unlock route. I am in a dilemma between
1- Using the Prof's unlocking solution here
or
2- Paying up the $38 for peace of mind here here
Forget about solution 2

SPV M700
Just to let you all know:
I just spoke to Orange about upgrading my M600 to M700. Vry nice lady ( after three atempts) has confirmed that M700 has GPS receiver built in. It would not show anywhere on Comms but it is selectable once you install SatNav software and it is on COM9.
So I think that anewers the original question.
Happ Navigating
Got my SPV M700 from Orange yesterday.
I went into the favorit > Sat Nav & downloaded Orange's Sat Nav program (It woked a treat - No ROM flashing or anything ) It actually guided me back home.
So yes, Orange UK ROM is 100% GPS enabled.
the-oneil not all are coming with GPS enabled. I know as I've seen 2 so far which came without the GPS working. Must depend on the batch they send out.
i think that depends on which rom version, that one with the following version must have GPS..
Operator version : 19.123.1.615
ROM version: 1.23.61.5
Rom date : 01/25/07
Radio version : 1.30.00.01
Protocol version: 32.63.7020.08H
I didn`t have to enable GPS on my M700. I installed a sat nav system ( Navigon MN6) and it connected by itself. I have a black M700 but on a personal account. The black ones were originally only reserved for new business accounts. Don`t know if that is significant.
I have now just installed Route 66 Navigate 7 in place of Navigon but it can`t seem to connect to the GPS receiver. Anyone help with that? I can only find one way to access the GPS seetings, in Systems/connections/GPRS Settings, and the only option is to change from PAP Authentication to CHAP Authentication. I don`t know what the difference between them is ( I`m not a techie!!) but it makes no difference anyway.
Any advice would be appreciated
Don't confuse GPS (Global Positioning by Satellite) with GPRS (General Packet Radio Service). If you mess with the GPRS settings, you may stop your phone from being able to use mobile data.
The M700 doesn't come with the GPS control panel visible, and generally speaking you don't need it to. Windows Mobile 5 comes with a software patch which distributes a GPS signal to any application requiring it, but some GPS applications can't work with this. I presume Route 66 may be one of them (as is TomTom).
Go to your Route 66 settings, and in the GPS setting options, set COM port to COM9 and Baud rate to 57600, which are the default hardware settings for the M700.
Now go to somewhere with a clear view of the sky for about 10 minutes, to allow the program to download all the necessary satellite information.
the-oneil,
I did the same as you with my brothers Trinity but I have a small problem with the internet settings.
I downloaded a cab file from a forum request on this site but it did not work for me and so I then copied the settings from a site called 'filesaveas' and itwork for me except in one way.
When I try to access my brothers Hotmail account via Pocket MSN I could not do it, however when I accessed Hotmail via Internet Explorer it was ok.
So I have some kind of error in the settings somewhere that still needs to be resolved. I contacted O2 for the settings but they would not give them to me because it is not an O2 handset. The screen asks me repeatedly for 'Incoming Email Password', which is exactly the same one as when I use Internet Explorer to acces Hotmail.
So let me know if you get the above working on yours and perhaps I could copy your settings.
Cheers!
And good luck!
Thanks NeilM,
Trouble is, I`ve tried and tried to find somewhere in the Route 66 menu where I can change GPS settings, but no luck. I`ve been checking through the files using File Explorer but can`t find anything anywhere that allows me to do that. Can you suggest somewhere I might find it or would it be pretty obvious, like going into the main menu in Route 66 when it`s running, and looking for a GPS settings tab. There isn`t one. It has a tab called GPS information but that just gives GPS status info, no way of changing any settings. Guess I`m stuffed!!
According to the Route66 help, it only supports Bluetooth GPS, not inbuilt receivers.
In fact their compatibility list is so old, I wonder it works on any current device

Thats great, thanks for letting me know, I can stop messing around with it now and go for something else or get a bluetooth receiver. The built in receiver isn`t that great anyway. I read somewhere that it was an 8 channel receiver. I have tried Navigon MN6 already with my M700 and I noticed that it`s positioning leaves a lot to be desired. I wondered if it might be something to do with the receiver as I didn`t expect it to be a SirfstarIII. So I might at some point just get myself a decent quality bluetooth SirfstarIII. Any recomendations?
Cheers for now

Smart Phone Newbie needs guidance

It may be stupid questions for some of the members here but I hope they would understand me Im just starting to use my first smart phone, I have a HTC touch Diamond and it says that It has a A-GPS and GPS does that mean I have an internal GPS hardware? Also my question would I be able to use GPS navigation on my device free? not like other phones that you have to pay the network carrier to have GPS on your device? If so can someone educate me on how to do this thank you.
Hi and welcome!
yes, you have gps hardware in your diamond. you can use for example tomtom 7 (use search to find th .cab file, it's somewhere here on xda-dev.).
so you only pay once for buying a map on www.tomtom.com
so find the .cab, put it on your device and start it from explorer and then buy a map...

thank you for the response, is the GPS network dependent? I asked because alot of my buddies keeps telling me that i have to pay my network "At&T" for the GPS service thank you
no, you don't have to pay anything to your network provider if you use tomtom... the GPS-signal is for free and has nothing to do with the AT&T or other providers network!

Hardware details

Hi, do you know if it is possible to get hardware specification of htc diamond?
I'd like to know if gsm modul is connected via real serial port (if I'm able to send AT commands to it). I have not succeded yet.
I also need to know if it has only one address space (for system and for gsm modul) or if there are two address spaces. I'd like to get info about neighbour cell towers, which should be possible if I'd have access to gsm address space.
Thank you very much for any help.
hello, have you tried looking in the wiki ?
There's a lot of info there & you can see basic hardware specs on the HTC Diamond section aswell as many articles that may help.
To get exact specifics of your Diamond try the Device Database & search to find the model you have.
Hope that helps.

Someone have an idea to solve this problem?
Is there ROM portion where I can put a fake MAC or recover the original?
Tanks for the attention

The cause of thit issue is the same of MicroP error...
The solution is to open the Diamond and after removing the MB unplug & plug the connectors behind.
But pay attention, is required hardware experience

What is the MB? You can explain better how to do this?
Regards,
Can you take some photos of how to deal with it?
I found this very helpful when I dissambled the Diamond:

It is in Russian, but with the pictures included it is quite easy to follow.
Good luck!
