Problem buying paid apps - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

Hi, I have had my hero a fews weeks now and just rooted and updated it in the last few days. I am really happy the way it is working and so decided to buy a few apps from the market, I picked Recordit and went through the process of filling in all the fields for my credit card, but when I try to save it I keep getting a message that a server error has occurred and to try again or cancel. I have tried both with wifi on and off but with no joy. Does anyone have any ideas why I would be having this problem.

I've found the solutions. I've got the same problems, and I've thought that a hard reset will solve it, but not at all.
Here the way. First, you must have register your gmail account at the very first boot of the Hero (otherwise, hard reset is required). Than, open a webbrowser on your desktok pc and go to google checkout checkout.google.com. Registrer your credit card to your gmail account. Go back market; than, you can make your credit card cry!

same problem for me here, gonna try this in the evening, will report here!

Thanks Diamond that worked perfectly, these forums have been a great reading source the last few weeks and have given me the confidence to do so much more with my HERO which I think is one of the best phones I have ever owned.

perfect, that works!

Has anyone been able to solve? [1.62 ROM + Gmail Mobile]

I am pulling my hair out in frustration at this point...
I bought the Tilt about a month ago. Been coming here to learn about stuff (only registered today), and I do want to thank everyone as it has been a wonderful experience.
Anyway, one of the first apps I DLed was Gmail Mobile, which worked fine. Then I upgraded to the 1.62 ROM yesterday night. Since then, Gmail Mobile refuses to work, claiming upon login "Network unavailable" and that it "needs a data connection". Of course, I have an unlimited data connection which is working flawlessly for everything else (including Google Maps Mobile).
I've found a number of threads here and elsewhere indicating that this problem is not unique to me, and I've tried every suggested approach plus some I thought of myself. Still no luck.
Has anyone been able to figure out what's causing the issue?

go to settings--connections--connections--advanced--and make sure that media net net is selected for both and make sure that you uncheck the proxie settings. that should clear it up.
if u dont use media net(wap proxy) then use my isp profile

Are paid apps tied to one handset?

I might have to send mine back, if I were to buy some apps and then get a different handset, can I still use them on the new device.
Kev
no they are tied to your gmail account. So if you send it back you can restore them on your new device without having to pay again..
I can verify this - I have apps that I bought for my G1, still in my downloads when I got my magic and again have been transferred to my Hero. Linking to your gmail account is a really fair way for software to work -
On Win Mo it was often tied to the IMEI so if it bust or you sold it you had to buy again or grovel for another code....

Thanks Both, that is good to know.
Coupled with a post I have read on here from someone who apparantly got a refund very simply on an app, it is making Android look really good.
Only issues left for me are.
1. Trying to forget how good the iPhone is (at the things it does)
2. Try to increase font sizes on Hero.
3. Try to solve the frequent "a network error has occured, please retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen"
4. Solve the seemingly poor wi-fi reception.
5. Try to forgot how none of those things are an issue on iPhone

Lot of things there that you have compared to the iPhone, what do you like better than the iPhone though?

Nahhh get a iPhone. The Hero's not for you. It's 'orrible. You won't Like it.

Dayzzzz - Get set for going off to the Ed Festival...
It appears to be tied in my experience. I bought video safe and photo safe on the g1, and on upgrading to a g2, it am unable to install those apps. It appears that trying to reinstall is making an attempt to charge my bank card again.
I have emailed the supplier. I would see what they have to say.
You might get a checking credit card details message but I think this is just to check that its the same as the one that paid. I've never been charged again for the apps I've bought, including copilot .

G1 google signin.

my g1 was DRC92, I managed to downgrade with not too much effort (the <enter>reboot><enter> works) now when it came to starting up it asked me to input my g mail details. Did this but couldn't sign on thanks to no wifi.
After days of messing about (most of the time spent in adb) i'm giving up and posting for help. ADB always says offline so i cant do anything with that i have no other lead to try and have tried 2 computers.
I don't know anyone with Tmobile so cant borrow a sim.
I did manage to get GPRS up by pressing menu on the signin screen then deleting all the APN's but t-mobile uk then changing that to my networks (o2) details the Symbol pops up and i get the arrows like data is being transferred but i get the error signing in. is it not allowed to let me sign in on 02? is there something not allowing me to sign in on o2? I'm really stuck and have been trying for 2 days done LOADS of research but nothing so far has helped.
Its not rooted (just got it so not 100%) is there anything i can do to bypass this screen as i have tried a lot even putting a custom rom would be fine with me if someone can link me to one that lets me avoid signup but again not too sure if i can install it if i need to be rooted...
Thanks for any help its much appreciated.
Wouldnt you know it as soon as i post gmail lets me sign in problem solved. Thanks for looking maybe custom apn settings will help others that cant do the adb thing?
I'm in the same position as you. Only i'm on 3.
I took my G1 back to 1.6 so that i could flash to Cyanogen6 and i stuck on that screen (as it claims no connection could be made).
Is there any little things you did? Been half a day like this now.
And i also can't get ADB to work. It see's my phone, but claims "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
EDIT: Read the details on APN setups and i have 1.6 working! Thanks man! Owe you one
Glad it helped, I actually did the whole APN thing as soon as i got the phone so i should have remembered but i have a really sucky memory :/
Anyway this should save people messing about enabling wifi and such through adb Glad it helped it will save someone else a lot of messing about too i hope

[Q] Exchange ActiveSync not working

Hello Everyone,
I have just purchased the new HTC One, and have gone to setup the built-in Exchange ActiveSync for my work account.
I used the manual setup and everything went fine up until the very last step. I press the Finish Setup button and it goes away and process for about 20 seconds and then it returns with the error "Failed to create the account. Please try again later."
I've spent the last 30 minutes with HTC's tech support and they were unable to resolve it, and suggested I return it to place of purchase.
Has anyone else had the pleasure of this issue and did they get it working or not ?
Thanks
Nicrad
All fixed now, Android need to give better feedback when an error happens, so it is easier to find the issue.
Nicrad
I too have this issue, could you tell me how you resolved it. Thank you.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I get the exact same error when adding any Exchange account (hotmail, live, outlook, etc..), so I'd like to know what you did to make it work !
First time I have this issue also with HTC One. Used to work find with Desire HD. Any help would be well come!

[Q] Google Play Error 403 after factory reset [MOVE REQUESTED]

Edit: To mod: If possible, please move this thread to a non device specific subforum, as people with different devices are experiencing the same problem.
So today I decided to factory reset my HTC One, and install back some applications I had previously.
However, after the factory reset I am unable to either install or update any application, with the Google Play Store returning: ""{app}" could not be downloaded due to an error. (403)".
I've been looking around a bit and have seen quite some others with this issue, however no solutions have worked for me. What I've tried:
Logged into Hangouts and confirmed mobile number.
Removed Google account in settings --> Go to Apps>All> and force stop Google Play Store, Google Service Framework and Download Manager, then clear cache and data for each --> Added back Google account --> Restarted device (without launching Google Play Store).
Using a new gmail account.
Clearing Proxy: I've looked in my Wi-Fi and APN Settings, both of which have no proxy set to begin wit.
Using 3G instead of Wi-Fi.
Another factory reset (repeated other steps afterwards).
Installing apps onto my device from my PC (it won't attempt to install them on the phone).
Please note my phone is not rooted and I'm not planning on rooting my phone any time soon.
Thanks in advance,
Errors4l.

Interesting, this is happening to me also after a factory reset of my HTC One. Tried all of the above, my phone too is not rooted however the bootloader is unlocked.

Yeah I've encountered quite some threads of people having this problem with the HTC One, however their solutions have not worked for me. Hoping someone can bring an answer to this thread
Yea it just seems unusual that it has happened to us pretty much at the same time under the same circumstances, maybe there is some issue with the store rather than our devices, I hope so!
Having exactly the same problem, tried everything. Even got a new handset because of the original issue which caused me to perform the factory reset. Maybe a problem with Google Play?
Hey guys!
I did a factory reset on my LG Swift L9 today
and also can't download any app from Google Play
due to 403. It may not be related to HTC One only.

I've got a new Nexus 5 delivered to me hours ago, first time using it and i can confirm the same sadly, hopefully it will be resolved soon !
What would be the quickest way to alert a mod so that the thread can be moved to a non device specific forum?
Hi all,
Picked up a Nexus 7 today - it was initially loaded with an old build of Android (Blue connectivity bars not white etc) and everything seemed to be working fine. Notification popped up for me to install the latest version, so I stopped what I was doing, got it installed and I'm now stuck with the same 403 errors as everyone else.
Looks to me like a Play Store issue but damn infuriating seeing as I can't even put any basic apps on my shiny new Nexus.
Noticed on another forum earlier that someone was having the same issue, and a guy responded saying he'd returned his Galaxy Tab to the store it came from today (Curry's, I think?) and after the staff there contacted Samsung - they were told that it was an issue with the Play Store. No obvious citations of course, but seems pretty legit what with everything else going on.
And now we wait...

I changed the title and inserted a request in the first post, hope it'll get noticed faster this way by a moderator
(Not so) sorry for double post.
I just tried again, without making any changes to my phone, and I just downloaded 3 different apps (2 I had previously, 1 new one).
Need a confirmation if the problem is solved for other people (with different devices) before I request a close.
Yeah, it works for me too now!

Nope, still 403'ing over here. But I'll keep checking in case it's gradually being fixed.
Still getting errors here too.
403 =/
I'm glad it's not just me.
I tried resetting/clearing everything thinking it was my phone cos I just recently rooted and flashed this brand spanking new HTC One (it was a replacement for my broken HTC One that had a working store :crying, until I went ahead and Googled this annoying error.
Seems like it's a problem on the Google end! =/
Get same error, tried RUU reset and ViperOne ROM.
Still 403 error! Very annoying
Spent 2 hours or so messing installing cyanogen on my new nexus and thought I'd ****ed up. Then googled it. I can believe it, talk about bad timing. lol
Looks like we are not alone...
