Do you guys think this is legit? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

im a bit skeptical since it is on ebay what do you guys think?
http://cgi.ebay.com/1600mah-Spare-B...ries?hash=item518c118338&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Sounds why to good to be true and if it is I would be quite concerned about it's safety

i have bought many items from hong kong on ebay
i thought the g1 battery was 5v and not 3.7v? maybe i'm wrong
heres a feedback from someone who bought the item:
"As Described, Havent seen the benefit of the xtra capacity yet, but it works gr8"
1600mah Spare Battery for HTC G1 Google Phone NEW (#390071957890)
I would trust him since the guy has over 30,000 transactions, and has feedback of 98.7%

ok im going to bite the bullet and purchase it (30,000 transactions and 98.7% positive sounds pretty good to me!) and if it isnt 1600mah at least i have a spare battery

jadi929, I love feedback following on eBay too, you can easily uncover some rampant lies (like following the same "untested" item back through several sales).
I'm still in the market for a high capacity standard size,
I bought this one as a basic replacement: http://cgi.ebay.com/z388-Battery-Fo...ries?hash=item3a51ceee23&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
It came this morning, but they've sent me this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/T-MOBILE-HTC-OE...ries?hash=item5ad2ee643b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Whatever, it was only £2.50, and since those are cheapest prices, I've kinda of got a more expensive one.
Currently waiting on this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-G1-T-MOBILE...s?hash=item4ceabd1c59&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177
So hope you can post something positive on that one, maybe I'll have one too.

No they are 3.7v, charging is at 5v so it's compatible with USB.

Battery Recommendations

My OEM battery for my Advantage is starting to show some age. I can't seem to find an OEM replacement on the web. I've had checkered experience with replacement batteries -- especially from ebay -- in the past. So, I'm wondering if anyone wants to make a recommendation for either a specific battery or specific web vendor.
I know there's another thread about batteries, but they seem to focus on ebay batteries or one which costs $82.00. That's a bit pricey for me.
Thanks!

so, if you'll excuse my ignorance, what's so special about the mugen battery? I've looked at them but was wondering why they're so expensive. 200ma more doesn't seem worth that kind of premium. However. I'd consider it if it were worth the extra cash.
thanks again.
Its more on the principle, you get wa you pay for! Mugen lasts longer and i believe they have a better warranty for them.Mugen specializes in extended batteries. If you just need a battery but dont have the cash ,then the 20$ battery good for now,no problems so far its been almost a month and charges hold well.
any one got links to those 2400 batteries?
i've checking ebay and googling online, but i can't find them
I am tempted to get one as a backup for when I travel...

Genuine Nexus S Batteries?

Hey everyone, just looking for some extra batteries for my Nexus S, and I am struggling to find some Samsung Genuine ones. I have read about the Behold/Moment batteries I think, but I would prefer official ones first, however you may prove me wrong
Something along the lines of this (desktop charger for the Galaxy S) would also be nice to have, so I don't have to put it in the phone to charge. Would the above mentioned batteries work in such a charger?
I would also prefer and Aussie power plug, but I have plenty of universal adaptors lying around so it's no biggie
I'm just wary about getting dud batteries, having only had bad experiences with cheap ones before.
Cheers!
Ok I found this on the US Samsung site, http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/AB653850CABSTD, lists the Nexus S as compatible and also the Moment, so I may as well just get a couple of those Moment batteries off Amazon from thePruneDanish, as it seems to be the best for having real batteries, not copies.
I will still try and find more on the dock though.
Ok, on the dock front, I may as well get this one: http://www.cellphoneshop.net/m850desktop.html
But just one question about it. On my Nexus, if I charge via certain USB cables it will come up as USB connected and charge slower (I know why, that's not the point), so if I used a USB cable to power this charger, to charge the spare battery, would it also be slower? Or is it a hardware thing only of the Nexus.
Sorry for starting a new thread before finding out everything Just this last question! Then mods may delete it if they choose.

This one comes with the correct plug:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300454233992
Works great, but when the charger is standing upright, the battery tends to pop out.
I bought a battery from the danish prude, and it is both genuine and 1500mAh. He seems to be out of stock, though.

Thanks, I had found that one, may get it as it works out a couple of dollars cheaper than the previous one (shipping mainly ).
As for thePruneDanish, did you get them to ship internationally? I just saw on the Amazon product page that is 'Shipping: Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S.' can't be shipped outside of the US. Is this because it is a battery? And they can't be shipped easily or something? Also what is postage like to Australia (I have never been able to understand the shipping price table on Amazon :S )
Thanks so much for that though!

Sorry to question, but how can you tell if it is 1500mAh? Does it say on the battery itself, or does it have similar life to your original battery?
Ok well after some further investigating I can't seem to find any of the batteries on thePruneDanish's eBay shop, so I went local again. I found another listing for the exact same batteries by the same guy as I mentioned before, just this time they only had model numbers of the batteries (which is how I found it). Same price and all, however they have sold 12, which makes me comfortable.
Link is here.
I'll just bite the bullet and get 2 of them I think hopefully because they are all the same seller I can get them at the same time!

One of the questions is about the mAh, they replied 1500mAh so I guess it's half valid there. I understand it's a bit iffy, so I asked them if it's genuine and I'll see what happens there. That other seller still would be good if I could find some!
Edit: Can't find any mention of OEM anywhere on the page, dunno why I thought it was all good before. I hate it when the pictures aren't like ones taken by the seller! Off to look again I guess

It should work just fine, it just means that it's definitely not genuine. And that the mAh rating could be a bit optimistic.

The original AB653850CA battery was 1440mAh, before the Nexus S came along. It's a difference of 4%. Possibly measurable, but not noticeable.

I'd prefer to stick to genuine batteries personally, maybe it's nothing but when ever I have used generic ones in the past they suck, even worse than the near dead battery they had replaced. This time it's just for extra power however.

4% difference doesn't bother me in the slightest, it would be nice to have more but I really don't care So basically you have to trust the seller when they say it's 1500 or 1440 etc.

AllGamer, if the price is what worries you, how much would you expect to pay for a genuine battery, I'm not sure how long the Behold has been out but surely it is long enough for retailers to get them other than Samsung?
considering Samsung websites sells it for $30ish, anything less than $20 i'll be questioning
as the originals usually have some sort of margin to how low they can go
it might very well be real ones, but we wont know until we peel on of those stickers off, and or do a Meter test on the battery
so who wants to be a guinea pig?

Yeah, what worries me is that maybe they are real batteries (genuine I mean) but have some fault, ie water damage. Because I just had to change my SIM then and I saw the water indicator on the side, where the pictures dont show...
I wonder what the margin is? Anyone here work in retail and can give us an estimate?

Cheap eBay Sourced 1500mAh Batteries

I just ordered a 3-pack of 1500mAh batteries with a battery charger for like $12 shipped from eBay. Since they are coming from Hong Kong, I have a bit of a wait, but has anybody tried the eBay batteries on their Xperia Play?
I used similar batteries on my Samsung Captivate with no problems other than they seemed to be only slightly less capacity than my original (based on non-scientific gut checks at the end of the day of how much charge I thought I should have.)
In searching before posting this, I saw some nightmares in the HTC forums where they peeled back the label from their batteries and found them rated by another label 500mAh less than what the top label said.
I'll report back either way when they arrive.
Got them in today. I took some pics to show what they look like right out of the pack. Notice that they all have the same S/N. Hmmmm
The charger has a USB port at the bottom and glows red when charging. If it is like the other eBay battery chargers I've seen, it will likely turn a different color when full.
Will report back once I've had a chance to use them.
Good luck with the batteries. I couldn't find the offer with 3 batteries so maybe they took it out in the last month (ebay.com).
If they turn out to be ok it could be a good investment for an emergency. Looking forward to your results.
I picked up the batteries from this seller.
As it turns out, two of the batteries seem to be bad. I sent a note to the seller to see about making it right. I'll update the thread with whatever the outcome turns out to be.
Regardless, the one that is working is doing a great job. I've been using it in place of my original battery, and so far, I can't seem to tell any difference.
Update: I accepted an offer for my Xperia Play, so I won't be following up here. I sold it with the good extra battery and am probably going to get a Samsung next.
I bought a set with 2 batteries and they seem to work fine, just slightly less capacity as the original. I know just charge the batts separately and swap them when I need a new one.
I got this response from the seller:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for shopping with us.
We apologize for the inconvenience. We are now processing replacement for you.
Customer satisfaction is important to us, as a token of courtesy, there is no need for you to return the original item to us.

That was really nice of them. I checked the seller but they won't ship outside of the US, even tho it's coming from Hong Kong D:
There's a chinese company that makes 1800mAh batteries for the X10. They work in the play, and are good quality. All the reviews said they actually offered better battery life, unlike a lot of cheap alternatives. I can't remember the brand name, but they're black with gold writing.

Normally I wouldn't trust third party batteries from eBay, although I did buy an extended battery for my laptop off of Amazon over a year ago (third party) and it stills holds a charge fantastically.

SAMSUNG QI Wireless Charger Stand PAD FAST CHARGE Dock for $39.99 fake?

I just bought this thing off Ebay and didn't do my homework because some people have bought other wireless chargers that were cheap like this one. I'm going to go to Best Buy and will pick up the original one to compare to the one that is coming. The one off ebay is $39.99 while the one's on BB is $69.99. Sounds too good to be true. I already contacted the seller and told them that I WILL KNOW if it's fake. I'll post my findings here so no one gets screwed like probably I did. I'm going to return it (almost certain).

I saw a video on YouTube where someone waswas explaining tdifferences between a fake wireless charger and an original wireless charger. There were somesome subtle differences and you could only tell by having the original and fake one side by side. I think that someone mentioned that the fake one would only do a "wireless charging", while the original one would say "fast charging", when you would put the phone (S7 edge) on the charger. Also there are power bricks that are fake too. Honestly, I would only buy these charges from BB and maybe B&H. Not even AMZN, because there have been fake ones in there too. I'll pick up the original one probablyprobably today from BB. The one from Ebay is coming tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath.
OK, so I just picked up the original wireless charger pad for $75 at the local BB. Now I have to wait for the one coming from eBay. I also bought a car charger that is supposed to be from Samsung too, but BB doesn't carry that one. I'm also weary about the car charger. It sucks to have to deal with this, but it is what it is.
Update: just tested the car charger bought from Ebay (hopefully original Samsung charger). My phone does say "fast charging", so I'm thinking that is a good sign.
I've just recently taken delivery of four of these (black) sold and shipped by Amazon.com LLC for $36.34 a piece.

Some of the stuff I buy from eBay ends up coming from Amazon. But anyways, after carefully looking at the one that came from BB and the one that came from Ebay, the Ebay one seems original, but it almost looks used (the BB one looks more glossy, if that makes sense). Also the chargers look slightly different. The Ebay one has a V in the back, while the BB one has a VI. Also, the packaging is different too, so I'll probably be returning both and buying one from AMZN like it was mentioned above. Even at AMZN you have to be careful because some sellers do slip fake chargers in there too. So bottom line, don't get this from Ebay.

Precisely why I referenced Amazon.com LLC as the seller. Maybe others have had an experience dissimilar to mine, but I've never received a fake product from them - and even if it were to happen, has anyone ever had them deny a legitimate return?
With Red Weasel Sales (TM) you take your chances. Maybe you'll win, maybe you'll get burned.
If you find out it's real, and there's more, please post up links. Nobody wants to pay full price lol.

Anyone found a good battery replacement?

Still have the original T800 going strong. Problem is battery is crap, understandably. I replaced it with one I bought from eBay. Looked just like the real Samsung battery, but didn't work like a new battery. Maybe it was pulled out of an unit. Have to charge all the time and it'll fail soon probably.
Anyone found a good reasonably priced battery? There's newpower99 but man they are expensive!
Thanks
I bought one last year for my T800 from the seller below via ebay. I've been happy with it - it basically doubled my battery life - though not quite as good as the original stock battery when I first bought the Tab. I didn't look to see if they still sell them.

Supposedly they are an authorized samsung parts distributor

I have used that kind of brand in an old Sony ebook reader. In the end I checked the serial number of the battery provided and it was a rebranded Cameron Sino (a honkong based company) battery.
As far as I could Google, CS specializes in replacement batteries for devices where the vendors do not provide any for end users. Not sure how good they are in the long term.
They say they have all the necessary brandings, but as we know the CE logo is just a sheet of paper nowdays and how far can you trust chinese companies with what they say about security brandings.
I always have a bad feeling by using third party batteries because I know about the fire risks li ion batteries can cause if they are badly manufactured (who knows where the cells for the CS batteries come from). CS probably does not produce their own cells, but also just puts cells together from who knows where. But take this with a grain of salt, I could be wrong here. Also do not trust vendors who say they sell original batteries. I once bought overpriced Apple replacement batteries for a 2009 laptop, in the end I ended up with the usual no name trash sold for this machine but twice the price.
I´d say it is overdue that we get laws to force the OEMs to provide original replacement batteries for every device sold. They also might stop doing stupid things luke gluing battery cells to the cases that way or stop making battery replacements as hard as possible. We need a right to repair forced by law.
