Is there a hack to open up 3g? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

DSL reports about 900 down on my 3g speed. Average I guess, is this a restriction T-mo did to my phone or is that as good as it gets?
What about latency and other factors that determine speed? Are there any improvements to be had?

Your data speed is determined by a few factors. How much backhaul (T1) is supplied to the BTS or Node B (cell site); how much traffic is on that particular cell site (you will get faster data speeds at 2 or 3 in the morning due to less traffic); how far you are away from the serving cell site.

I was hoping there was something similar to MTU.

is there really any need to go faster than that on a cell phone? wish i had 3g in my area or edge, lol

This is a backend issue, not on your phone. You can get a lot higher speeds if you are doing a file transfer with multiple connections. This is my network utilization when I tether my phone and download from usenet (10 simultaneous connections)

Look at iphone 5 3g almost same as lg nexus 4. now look at iphone 5 lte . much better .
but what if there was Lg nexus 4 running DC-HSPA ? it might do alot better than . so the battery might not suck .
The Nexus 4 does support DC-HSDPA.
Does anyone know why the iPhone lasts a little over half as long on 3G than on LTE? Seems quite odd to me.

Their LTE seems to be better optimized than their 3G technology.
Pre-production unit.
Nothing to see here.
We already have a thread discussing this here

Sprint Nexus 5 speed tests

I have to say that I am impressed with the N5 on Sprint. I have not used Sprint in about 2 years and I must say I feel so far the network has improved in my area. I just did a speed test and got decent LTE speeds. Nothing like Verizon but impressive for Sprint, especially that Sprint's coverage map shows no LTE for this area that I am currently in. I am at work, my coverage at home is even supposed to be better (NYC/NJ Area). Maybe this Spark thing will actually work out. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Also the N5 is an amazing device. Kit Kat is an extreme improvement over JB.

where are you located. I'm in morris county and thinking about trying out sprint with my n5, but wonder about the coverage.
I'm in Green Bay, WI and I clocked 27mbps down this morning and we just started getting 4g signal about a month ago. I was shocked!
I am in midtown NYC and have terrible LTE speeds. Most of the times the network reverts to 3G. Sometimes it is 4G LTE but the speeds are barely 1 Mbps.
Can someone please help? Is it my phone or is it the LTE coverage in NYC? Thanks in advance.

Internet is speeding up then dives to almost 0Mbps over and over again

my internet seems to be ramping up and the diving.
take a look at this
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/262745654/WTF ISP.png
my phone is getting blazing fast speeds while my PC is on a roller coaster.
i dont even know what info you would need to help with this.
win 7 x64 ult
arris modem
linksys router.
router was not hooked up for most of the test as i bypassed it.
but the speeds did not change when i hooked it back up and my phone is still pulling full speed from the router so modem and router seem to be working fine. the only thing that i can think of is that my network controller is messing up but what on earth would cause it to ramp up slowly over 2 hours then dive only to do it over again.
ask away i really need this to stop.
edit: there was even an updated driver for my NIC that i just found that came out about a month ago and STILL no better.
Do a jitter test, I'm sure it's caused by jitter.

Weird WIFI SPEEDS

Hello there. I am Using red magic 3 rooted+twrp with Android 9 CHINESE version (v2.45). Everything works great without any issues, but lately i have been geeting weird wifi speeds. For some reason i get less download speeds than my upload speeds. I have 100 mbps broadband connection and i only get around 40mbps speed. TO work around this i installed a magisk module named WIfi BONDING(QCOM). Earlier it gave me double the speeds like around 70-80mbps.BUT at that time also download speeds were lower than upload speeds..AND now whether i remove or keep the magisk module i get 40-45mbpss download speeds and 70-80mbps upload speeds..Also in pubg i dont get good ping like before.earlier i used to get 20ms ping..now i get like 40ms minimum..can anyone here tell me how to fix this issue..I am Irritated with only the ping issue rest i dont care as much. and I ASLO have poco f1 on that i installed the same magis module.on THAT device i get full 100mbps download uplaod speeds with minimum ping of 20ms...not sure what is the issue here with my red magic.. why is it acting strange??

Question Disable 5G?

I'm using an unlocked model and the "5G" (not UW) on Verizon is much slower than the 4G in my area. Is there any way to disable it?
It's 20mbps vs 100+mbps
Just go into network and change from 5G/4G/3G/2G to 4G/3G/2G

Mine doesn't have those options.
A lot of issues with 5G and it's implementation both networks and on phones.
Rarely does it justify its existence except in limited areas. It's also a known battery hog even if not in use. Blame Qualcomm's bum rushing for that.
Avoid any 2 chipset solutions for 5G like the plague.
At first I had minor regrets of not having it on my 10+... now I'm damn glad I don't!
Try this
From play store download the app "Phone by Google"
Open the app and dial *#*#4636#*#* it's gonna open a secret menu,go to set preferred network type and change to LTE/CDMA/GSM/WCDMA
