Can't connect MDA to ActiveSync after ROM update

Also posted here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=242769
I've updated my T-Mobile US MDA to the shipping k-jam ROM and it seems to work fine, though I can no longer connect it to ActiveSync. When I connect the device, Windows detects it as a "Windows Mobile-based Device", but says that it cannot find drivers for it, so ActiveSync can't see it.
I've been looking around for a place to download drivers, but haven't found them. The iMate site has a support area, but without an IMEI to an iMate device, I can't get access to it. Do they have the Windows drivers in there?
I have tried reinstalling ActiveSync 4.1 from both MS and from the T-Mo CD, and my firewall is off.

Windows Vista USB driver problem

Hi all, ive been looking on here for a while now (and several other places too) for a fix for this. i have a cingular 8125 that works fine with all versions of activesync on windows XP, but on my home computer i have Vista RC1. i have downloaded WMDC and instaled that and i get all the way through the installation fine, then when i go to sync, it loads all the USB driver untill it gets to on that says "Unspecified Device" and fails. I havve tried the "WHOS" reg patch and several other things inculding checking for udates with the device attached, installing with the device attached....you get the pic..its bewen driving me nuts. Anyone either kow of a fix for this or have the driver(s) for me to install on the computer? Thanks in advance
Corey
Also...this has always been an issues since the stock 1.8 rom. i then tried the stock cingular 2.25 rom, the first release of the molski/faria/kyphur/etc. 3.3 rom, and the PDAVeit ver.2 WM6 rom and all have given me the same result. any ideas? i cant seem to find any driver anywhere, and im starting to think that maybe i have something wrong with my device.
bump for some help?
Vista Buisness N
Vista Buisness N confirmed not to work with active sync. Wait until Microsoft releases a patch. Probably tommorow
cool, thanks for the info...i hope it works on RC1 too.... do you know if it will be available from windows update or will i need to search microsofts webpage to get it? thanks for the help
I have vista ultimate got it a few weeks back and i ran into a problem with my mda because there is no active sync. I had to get the sync center version from RC1 to get it to sync right. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx thats where i got it from you can give it a try.

i already have that and tried it :-( thanks for the thought though
::edit:; that part installs correctly, its when i plug my 8125 it says its looking for driver for an unidentified device
RUU under Vista
WMDC works fine for me (RTM build). The problem I have is eing unable to run RUU under Vista - it crashes after my Wizard goes into bootloader.
Someone seen this too or am I the only one unlucky?
bootloader
This is a very common problem. Ithink it has something to do with the rapi connections
Not sure this works, but have you made sure that the remote-NDIS network card is set to have the IP address assigned by the DHCP instead of using a static ip address (default)?
I am weary of upgrading to WM6 or Vista due to compatability issues. Even though the tech whore side of me is foaming at the mouth to them up and running I have read and think there are still too few drivers and support for Vista. Plus I need $134 to upgrade from business to ultimate

vista kind of sucks but wm6 is great.
Vista is just really annoying to use. I have Vista/sever 2003/xp on my laptop and I almost always use server. I think mostly because I develop web apps. Server just works, no crap.
WM6 is a very very welcome upgrade over wm5 and overall it seems less buggy than even the latest AKU's for WM5.

ActiveSync and Vista

Hi, can anyone help?
Running Vista from my laptop and want to synch my Vario II with it (currently synched Vario II with XP running desktop). Tried to instal ActiveSync but laptop tells me it's already there but I can't find it in the programmes list and it won't find it on a search.
My laptop does recognise my memory card in the Vario II but won't recognise that it's actually in the Vario II - i'm confused. When I conect the Vario II I'm prompted for a password several times but I can't actually synch.
Vario II is running WM5, have considered WM 6.1 but would I still be able to sync with the XP desk top if I install it.
All a bit confusing and frustrating this, I'm not a techie so basic answers please (if possible!!!)
Thanks

Vista works fine. You can get your phone bricked by not doing it right, it happens in all operating systems.
vista uses wmdc - windows mobile device center & not activesync. so go to the link mentioned on the 2nd post & dload wmdc. should be fine afterwards.
1 thing that bugs me with vista/wmdc is that everytime you sync your device, it changes your device ID to "windowsmobileXX" for my prophet and now to "HTCXX" on my touch pro where XX is a number. So some of my programs that need device ID for registration gets screwed up.
edit: i've never had any luck with flashing on vista for my prophet needed to use vmware running xp. haven't flashed my touch pro yet...
Here is a guide i wrote to flash Htc Himalaya's aka xda2 devices in Vista, the steps should be same :

Problem HardSPL'ing my Touch Pro 2

I got past the whole activesync hates Vista part... now I have windows Mobile device center going.
All is connected, synced, and ready to go!
Problem is.... The minute I launch the HARDSPL program I got the phone shuts off... then when I run the program, it says its complete almost immed.
Any ideas?
Im trying to flash the energy 6.5 rom on my tp2.
Also, if you know if this rom offers landscape support id appreciate that as well
its like spl'in your phone. once you are connected to wmd look for the rom you want. have the customruu and nbh file in a new folder run the ruu.exe and it'll do the same process
no need for the hardspl.
also if the tf3d is 2.1 it will support landscape. 2.5 won't.

RDP Won't connect

I recently upgraded my Tilt with a Kaiser ROM found from this site. Everything is working flawlessly except RDP. Internet and all other data connections work fine on the phone.
When I try RDP however the status changes to "Connecting" and never connects or gives any error messages just stays at "connecting". Left it running overnight and in the morning it was still "connecting". Our firewall and Windows Server 2003 computer are configured correctly to accept remote RDP connections. In fact we use this remote RDP connection from Windows XP/Windows 7 computers several times a week. I have verified the windows mobile phone is using port 3389. Its Finster869 WM6_RDP. I'm stumped. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks in advance.
Try it on a diff computer on a diff network.
Different Network
I have tried connecting the PDA phone to a different wireless network than the default AT&T MediaNet (HSDPA) with the same results. By different computer do you mean different PDA phone? I know that I have connected successfully with this phone in the past when it was at windows mobile 3.1.
lol @ windows mobile 3.1
i believe you mean windows mobile 6.1
anyway, that cab from Finster869 seems to be the correct one FOR WINMO 6.1
however, you should mention which ROM you have currently because, after all, the problem started AFTER you changed the ROM, isn't that so?
if you are now running a windows mobile 6.5 or windows mobile 6.5.x ROM, there is a thread about a newer cab of remote desktop that works correctly on windows mobile 6.5/6.5.x...search for it!
if you come up short in the next 24 hours, i will see if i can find the thread or pull up the cab from my storage card and attach it to my next reply in this thread. lets hope search gives you better and earlier results, because search is your friend.
good luck!
lol yeah I meant windows mobile 6.1 not 3.1
The ROM I loaded is TPC_V11_Kaiser_Loaded.rar. It has windows mobile 6.5.
The only newer cab of remote desktop thread I could find linked me to a german website that when clicked our firewall blocks Conficker.gen (Worm) blocked.
Couldn't find the cab. Do you have one?
Thanks!
try this one:

Hmmm that one gets me further but I get a pop up saying "cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connectings, tap settings". My existing connection is AT&T Media Net cellular line (GPRS, 3G) connecting to access point name wap.cingular. The problem may lie with this cellular connection although I don't see an option to configure it otherwise. Anyway thank you for the new client.
try connecting to another computer on another network.
I got it to work. Didn't do anything except try again. Thank you!
