Source please? That would be great news.

why ?
if you move your stereo speakers as close together as the speakers in a phone would have to be
you'd have to rest your head on them to get the 2 different sources experience
with a phone it would have to balance on your nose

This is true in most cases, but the N95's speakers are quite good and noticable, even over a small distance.

GSM-Arena is one of the most legit sources. They have it. Just type Xperia X2 on the site's search bar and read all 5-6 pages of the "preview".
The speakers are located where the battery is location. The long but narrow slits are the speaker grille. The grille design on top and bottom of the phone is just aesthetic.
Now all we need to know is if the speakers are loud and crisp.
If it's as loud as the Touch Pro2, I probably still won't get it.
But if it is as loud as N95 and as CRISP, I will highly consider this phone.

I don't think you know what the heck you are talking about. W960 has 1 speaker and it's mono.
It's not that loud. I even think the Xperia X2 will be louder and more crisp.
Well... the N95 has got to be 2 times louder too.

Hm.. That's weird, because the N95 still has the best speakers on a phone to date.
Maybe you had a faulty one or something? Have you heard other N95s except the one you had?
When people say N95 I take it they mean the 8gb version, because the first one sucked big time. I don't know if they upgraded the speakers though, along with the other things they upgraded.

Well yes that's true from all the nokia phones, the N95 has the best speaker so far..

mine was a black 8gb, did not seem faulty (heard a standard n95 which i think was worse but not another 8gb version) i had a w960 at the same time, and i was comparing the 2. maybe next to a standard phone it was good but the w960 i had was really good. have u tried a w960? to compare?

"stereo" speakers on both sides.
still not gonna buy it just for this & its cam.

Not the w960, but plenty of other device. There are some that are louder, some that are more "crisp", etc. The N95 has the best speakers OVERALL. At least from what I have compared it to. Second place goes to some phones in the Walkman series.
I guess, I have to find a w960 and come back to you on that hehe.

Ganondolf are u sure? The N95 has very crisp sound and you could notice the bass in which most phones can't even do that.

My TD2 has arrived!

First impressions:
Faaast! Much smoother operation than the Diamond.
Screen is beautiful. Can render websites and read them without zooming in. It's quite recessed under the touch screen though, about 1.5-2mm. Feels a bit disconnected from the touch screen.
If anyone has any questions I'll keep an eye on the thread this evening.

Hi, I've installed TTN 7 and it loads up without a hitch, but I don't have any maps to test it fully right now. I'll see what I can do.

What do you mean by this?
Does it have a "plastic feel" when you touch the screen or is it hard like the Touch Diamond ?
Is the stylus hold magnetical like in the diamond 1?
Sweet! well tell us more please especially what stesa asked could you please check out if there’s vga recorder?
Have fun with your new diamond they say diamonds are a girl’s best friend but I sure do think it’s now also men’s best friend too!
Hi all,
Just checked and it does do VGA video recording, the quality isn't half bad. Also a screen protector is supplied in the box.
The phone feels a lot faster than the Diamond and the new Touch Flow is a big improvement, hiding most of WinMo.
With regards to the screen, I'll try to explain... the original Diamond touch screen sits just above the actual display and there's no noticeable area in between. The Diamond 2's display sits a 1 or 2 millimeters below the touch screen, so there's a bit of a gap. It just takes a bit of getting used to. The good side is that you don't need to apply more pressure at the edges of the screen as you do with the Diamond (eg. where you had to press a bit harder to grab the scroll bar, or hit the 'X'). The overall feel of the screen is the same as the Diamond.
Just remembered... I grabbed a map for TT7. It works fine as far as loading the app. Map displays fine and got a GPS fix, but I haven't been out so don't know if there's any lag. Also I couldn't figure out how to get it into landscape, but I don't use Tom Tom so that could just be me. IGO8 also works, but I have the same version from the Diamond (VGA) so not all of the screen is used. I think this can be fixed though.
The stylus isn't magnetic :'(
Cheers.
hows the camera?
Speed to launch cam app?
Speed to take an photo?
Photo quality in good light and in poor light? (really miss a photo flash?)
thanks.
Congrats, how is the speaker quality, i.e ringtone volume, is it loud and clear, I've heard, the first Diamond was not that loud, any difference?
thx

OK, the camera sucks... no not really, quality is about what you'd expect, but it's sooo quick compared to the Diamond 1. I don't really have any daylight right now, but I took a few snaps. The camera app loads in 2 seconds flat and takes the same to shoot. In comparison, 4 seconds to load on the old Diamond and 6 seconds to take a picture under the same conditions.
The speaker... I put the TD & TD2 next to each other playing the same track alternately and the TD2 is a fair bit louder and clearer. Calling the Orange lady was a treat, I could actually hear her on loud speaker. With the Diamond her voice is distorted at anything more than two thirds of the volume.

The size worried me when I was thinking about dropping £400 on one. On paper it's not much bigger, but when you get it in your hand you really notice how porky it is, if you've used a Diamond that is. However, for a smartphone it's a good size and I think the Diamond is perhaps too small considering HTC ran out of room for a decent battery and speaker! I personally think it feels good in the hand, and I really like the larger screen.
Oh and I'm not loaded or anything, but did get a bonus from work so thought I'd waste it on something I really want, but don't need! Still paying a contract for the old Diamond
Glad to hear the audio quality on this thing is good. Now just imagine the the clear sound of the Rhodium!

No, I mean you'd notice how much larger it feels if you'd used or have the original Diamond.
Another thing, the body of the phone is a plastic mold with some kind of metalic coating. It looks fine, but doesn't feel as solid as the Diamond 1.
Battery and life without scroll wheel / nav buttons
I'm soooooo close to getting one of these, but trying work out which contract to get it free with, in length terms anyway - the new HD2 is due in September-ish and will come pre shipped with WM6.5 and have a beefier processor, (600Mhz apparently!) Do I go for a short contract then upgrade later, stick with a long contract and stick with it if it's good enough and get the handset free, or just save my cash and get the HD2?
Aaaaaanyway....
How's the battery life?
Any audio glitches like the last Diamonds' manilla playber?
Can you adjust the default level of the zoom bar in opera - eg does it zoom in far enough? Can you zoom in further than a double tap as you could with the Diamond 1's scroll wheel?
Is Flash Lite included?
How does it handle video playback?
Is the G-sensor any better? I think WM 6.5+ will use shake settings for navigation - flick right for next message etc.
As for the size, I personally find the Diamond 1 just that little too small to be able to operate one handed comfortably, so maybe I'd appreciate that, not sure.
Oh, and you lucky "£^%"£$^!!!!

Best is

Anything with a tegra 3 is generally rubbish with sound, as they have a crappy DAC. Anything with a Wolfson DAC is good GENERALLY

I really liked the sound of the One X. Galaxy devices have to have some mods to make it sound ok. Once I got my Nexus the sound was awful until I rooted it and flashed some mods. Now it's awesome. Same with every device I ever used or got my hands on. Without mods it's like trying to drive a car with the handbreak on.

Oh, of course you can! I would have died without any DSP-Manager is a MUST-have. The rest differs from which type of phone you have and so on. I use ACID sound engine. It's a mix of a few great sound mods and together with AwesomeBeats it just rocks But it doesn't work on any device. Great on my GNex but e.g. doesn't work on my dad's DHD. But try DSP-Manager, you won't regret it.

Never tried anything on CM7, but I can show you my setup. Bass is really, really high here. That's because my good earphones broke and I have to use the cheap, crappy Samsung ones, that came with my phone. Have to turn the bass up as hell to even hear it. But here you go:
Dynamic Range Compression: OFF
Bass Boost/Beats Boost: EXTREME (I would keep that, no matter which earphones you have - Of course just if you like bass - I do)
Loudness Compensation: Try out from STRONG to STRONGEST (dependend on earphones)
Virtual Room Effect: OFF
My soundcurve is now really disorted because of my cheap earphones but it was always the best for me to do sth in a "u" shape. It can be a very weird "u" like here but it was always the best for me. I'm not an expert though, just telling you my personal experiences.

Can I get it on cm7 ??
and did u flash awesome beats mod??
Sent from my Incredible S using xda app-developers app
Latest DSP-Manager doesn't work on CM7. U need ICS or JB for that. AwesomeBeats is just working on AOSP ROMs. No Sense, no Touchwhiz. And yeah, I'm running AwesomeBeats in combination with ACID sound engine.
The bass is so high because I have very crappy earphones and I have to push the bass up that much to get sth of a normal sound. With better headphones I would do half of the shown or even less. Just try out what's best for you. Usually it's this "u" shape but it's dependent on which earphones you use and what their permormance is.
Earphone soundcurve has generally a "n" shape because they're optimised for middle frequencies.very high and very low ones are weaker. A good sound should be more or less flat so that you can hear what the studio wanted the music to sound like. Using a "u" shape equalizer compensate the n shape of the earphone. Then as said before some very cheap earphones lack of bass frequencies, particularly the small ones. However the tendency for today's headphones is more to have too much bass. You'll have to edit your curve depending on your headphones and also depending on your tastes and music style. You probably won't put so much bass to listen to jazz as to listen to dubstep.

It's just really dependend on your earphones. If I had set an "n" shape for my old good earphones it would have sounded very weird. I guess every pair handles the sound in an other way so you really gotta try what's the best.

Ah, now I get it You're right. That should be the reason why a u shape is usually the best. On my 2nd broken pair (Sony) I have to push the mids a bit more than the highs. So again, dependend on earphones. On my beats I had to push the highs a lot and the bass just a little. And with my crappy Samsung pair it's like in my post before. Sound is still not that good, though. Just barely can hear any traces of a bass guitar:/

[Q] HDR Microphone gone from the specs?

I just noticed the "HDR Microphone" is now missing from the specs of the One:
http://www.htc.com/uk/smartphones/htc-one/#specs
Checked other regional sites and it's the same situation. I don't have a screenshot of previous specs but I could swear it was there. Can you guys confim it was there?
And if they removed it - it's interesting why? Because they expect future revisions coming without it because of this Nokia/STM case?
That's me never sending my phone back to HTC for a repair then.

They'll have to have a certain amount in stock so that they can repair any handsets already supplied to the public I think...
Just noticed your location, Bangor in the UK?
But if this is really the case and they won't be putting these HDR mics in the future I would expect a clear statement from HTC. I know this might be uncomfortable for them but they should be clear about it so we know what we're buying. This really is a great device so honestly I hope they manage to obtain similar MIC technology and will put it into the One.
yes I believe it'd be the STM case. I think they're revising the technology so hopefully they come up with something
Here is why
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/nokia/10012034/Nokia-blocks-HTC-One-microphone-supply.html
http://www.computerworld.com/s/arti...ion_blocking_sales_of_microphones_for_HTC_One
http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/22/nokia-preliminary-injunction-against-htc-one-mic/
I was quite sure it was connected with this Nokia/STM case, but now they removed this from the specs so the most important question is what kind of MIC they will be putting into the One once the current stock from STM is depleted?
replacement mics will no doubt be interchangeable with the STM ones. Whether or not the mic will be like for like that remains to be seen but on the onset, it appears could be non HDR....
btw how do you test the HDR ability of the mic.... when im talking on the phone and its pretty windy, the other person can still hear the noisy wind - i thought the HDR mic would cancel all that out...i have an early april build btw
---------- Post added at 11:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:59 AM ----------
actually just checked - the UK site still states HDR microphone.
Yeah don't panic to be honest, all they have to do is find a like for like part (one that wasn't especially made for the Nokia 720)

Where? If you go to http://www.htc.com/uk/smartphones/htc-one/#specs there's no mention. I've read your PDF but can't see it on the page when I go there.
Added a screenshot of the HDR mic(Before they removed it.)
I really doubt they'll be able to add another HDR mic on it though... As the patent is not the chipset but what the chipset brings or what makes it unique.

btw how do you test the HDR ability of the mic.... when im talking on the phone and its pretty windy, the other person can still hear the noisy wind - i thought the HDR mic would cancel all that out...

HDR means "High Dynamic Range". Microphones found in phones generally have a limited dynamic range: either they're good at picking up quiet sounds, but quickly start to distort if you're recording something loud, or they can handle loud noises but soft sounds aren't picked up at all. The current HTC One mic contains two separate membranes, one optimised for loud sounds and one for quiet, and switches automatically between them depending on the volume of what's being recorded. So you can (for example) record the sound at a rock concert without distortion, but also record someone talking. A non-HDR replacement mic will have to compromise between loud and quiet performance somehow.

No, it's for helpful for example when you're at the concert and want to record a video.
Shows for me:
SOUND ENHANCEMENT
HTC BoomSound™
Dual frontal stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers
Studio-quality sound with Beats Audio™

ah right ok.
i recall reading a review, i think anandtechs or engadgets, where they mentioned that in a busy environment, near road works the other person couldnt hear anything at all other than the callers voice...
hence why i thought the HDR mic would cancel out the wind in a way.

Wind noise is a bit different from traffic noise. The One has a double microphone, front and back - when noise reduction is active, anything where you get more or less the same sound in the back microphone as you do in the front is screened out, on the assumption that it must be background noise coming from a long way away. Anything that is mostly in the front mic (e.g. you speaking into it) is preserved. Unfortunately wind noise is caused by the wind blowing straight into the microphone and is directional, so you get different wind noises in the two different mics, and the noise reduction system doesn't recognise it as background.
The noise reduction system has absolutely nothing whatever to do with HDR. HDR is about being able to record both loud and soft sounds accurately. (And physically it's about two different membranes in one mic).

does boombox give surround sound feel ?

hey , actually v40 having 2 speaker so with that would we get surround sound feeling like pixel phone has ? Because in specs it says to have Boombox Speaker - inner resonance chamber along with top and bottom speakers provide greater sound levels for boosted bass

It only has one speaker. I think what it is referring to is the bottom speaker and the earpiece speaker which is not a speaker for media but for phone calls. The listing is a bit deceptive unless they actually did what Samsung did with the S9/S9+. The speaker setup on this is just like the G7 ThinQ as far as I can tell.

No it's not true
The earpiece is on when playing music, it's not resonance chamber effect, you can remove the Sim tray to test it,

It is the resonance chamber. No sound comes from the earpiece except during a call. If music came from the earpiece, there would be a difference in sound like the sound is partially muted like it does on the Samsung S9 & S9+. I have checked multiple times on my V40 and my wife's G7 and neither have any sound coming out of the earpiece except during a phone call and neither have the partially muted sound if the eirpiece is covered like the Samsung Galaxy S9 did when I had it and tested it on that phone.
As far as the comment that removing the sim card tray to test just proves more that it is the resonance chamber. The speaker in this phone is not at the bottom of the phone but more towards the middle to allow it to make use of the resonance chamber. Feel free to Google it, there are multiple sites as well as videos on YouTube about it because a lot of people talked about it when the G7 came out and it also pertains to the V40.

Thanks for posting this.
I had this same question too when there was a short lived V40 thread that closed and reopened with all the old posts gone on here.
The marketing material seems to indicate stereo speakers, but some users chimed in saying they had a hard time noticing... at the time I was trying to find a good Left to Right channel stereo test video on youtube to verify the channeling, but couldn't find a good video to suffice. I still don't own a V40 but will consider one if the price is right.

The LG US website shows nothing about it.
Edit: I just checked again using Poweramp and I do hear music from the earpiece and I notice a change in the sound if I cover it and the speaker and then remove my thumb from the earpiece so it is possible it was activated with the last update my phone got a couple of weeks ago. My wife's G7 is still on Oreo 8.0, and I don't know if it is working as it also got an update that same week.

Best headphones for the Poco

I have been using a set of iPhone earbuds and the volume is sooo low I can barely listen to any calls or even music outside of being alone in a very quite room...any ideas of anatomically shaped in-ear headphones that are REALLY LOUD?

I have some QCY QS2 Bluetooth earbuds which I find myself recommending to anyone who'll listen
They're great, nice and loud and cheap enough (<€20) that you can lose one without heartbreak! Really good battery life too
I doubt they're the best you can get, but they're plenty good and good enough value that you're not afraid to use them
u can try ibasso it01 .. its good iem all around
I have done some research because my budget was 2000INR (28.17USD) and bought a SoundMagic E10C.
Very impressive, extremely balanced sound stage with enough emphasize on lows, mids, and highs. Braided cables. 3 button remote. Metal body. Fairly loud. You get a hard case, two adapters, 7 pairs of eartips including a double flange one. Really satisfied.
Another one I would recommend is Sennheiser 275s, don't own one, but good one, not as good as the above tho.

It's all about the headphones' sensitivity - note that getting "really loud" (so "really sensitive") earphones is absolutely not a good idea for your ears - trust me, I already had problems with that, you don't want to listen to too high volumes. So what you need is a pair of headphones that go a comfortable level of volume.

I agree with that, if you are on a tiny budget these are the best I ever tried.
If you have more budget and want headphones (not earphones) there is the Focal Listen Wireless which spends for 150/200 bucks with Bluetooth and a great isolation - so you won't need to push the volume very high. And still, it _can_ go very loud.
Hope that helped
Best Earphones to match with Pocophone
Try KZ-ZSN Pro or KZ-ZSN HiFi . Really suites the Pocophone and match it with a Ringke Case, The Earphone will mix with the design of Ringke Case:good::good::good:
I've tried several headphones with the F1 . Bose quite comforts , soundmagic E10 ,senheiser hd215 ,August Bluetooth headphones and none of them come close to the Tin Audio T2 hi-fi in ear headphones , they have better detail ,wider sound stage ,very loud and better more controlled bass . The only downside to them is the cable as it tends to tangle ,this can be upgraded as they have MMCX cable connections . They are £42 on Amazon .

Buying good headphones is a nice idea but without V4A, they won't perform to their maximum.
Most users here know that.
I have JBL cs100si, sennheiser cx 180 street ii and boAt 900 wired headphone - all these sound good but with V4A they show what they are capable of.
As far as quality is concerned try and stay away from wireless stuff.
All the best :good: hunting for headphones.

I use Yamaha EPH-M100 headphones quite loud sound, excellent bass
Sony XB400
If you don't mind wires around your neck.
Try Sony XB400. They are really good for the price point.
They will cost you around ₹3000 if they are on a sale.
The best parts are :-
12mm Drivers.
16 hours of continuous use.
Fast Charge.
Bluetooth 5.0
Works with any Assistant.
And generously good Quality.
I've slept on headphones and also slept while wearing them.
They have gone through a lot of tug and also been stretched many time but they just work fine.
You cannot get better quality at that price.
I am using the usb-c port for Bang&Olufsen Beoplay H3 with Sonata HD DAC Cable II which makes you audiophile crazy. With flac files the music is perfect

It is true V4A reduces audio limit to 16bit audiio playback?
Btw, i am using RHA650, that are working very good, but requires more burnin. For those who are not looking bass heavy earphones, this are best in budget.

Yes that used to be the case with Poweramp earlier. Recently however it shows 24-bit 48kHz in Poweramp. Can't set anything higher than 48kHz.
In NeutronMP however 24-bit 384kHz is shown even with V4A active.

I have used V4A from the beginning primarily for its headphone-correction feature, namely Viper DDC. Didn't need to tweak anything else. However ever since crDroid's Q builds I find volume to have gone down quite a bit to the point that I really need to crank up the volume when using my Superlux HD681 EVO. In Pie ~85 was sufficient but in Q I need to set it at 92-98. For some tracks even that is not quite enough. For IEMs like Soundmagic E10C or ES18S no issues at all however. Any tweaks in V4A that can boost volume a bit w/o introducing noise? Thanks.
