have you tried turning off or unchecking the boxs in Settings>System>Battery?

yes i tried, but then the backlight won't turn off now for power savings when i am NOT making a call. Is there any option for not turning off the backlight or going into sleep mode only when i am making a call? thanks

install this...

tried but still not working, it will go into sleep mode after 5 seconds during the call but the call is still on.
thanks anyway

the problem is a known bug.
Try pressing the on/off button (top left) for just a second when ligth go off.
bye

what for you want to keep it alive?

Turning off during call
Go to Registry, then go to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
Change the key "Sleep" value to 0

Screen Turning Off During Calls?

I just got my Kaiser and am playing with it and noticed one annoying thing so far.
The screen will turn off during a call and I have to hit the "power" button to get it to come back on.
Is this normal? This is the first PPC Phone that does that to me and I haven't been able to figure out what program to adjust to make it stop behaving like that.
Thanks!
I have read about this at 2 other places. It's a feature I think and it's 'solved' by using the scroll button untill the screen gets dark again

You need to change the backlight settings.
I've adjusted it, but the backlight doesn't dim. The screen goes out entirely and you have to use the power button for it to come back on.
Normally when the backlight dims, touching any part of the screen will resume the normal brightness. When this blanks the touchscreen is "off".

from what ive read it seems to be a feature to save battery life and keep you from accidentally pressing buttons on the touchscreen with your ear. i dunno if there is a way to shut it off though
I can see how it would prevent me from messing with the keys and all that. It's fine when I'm on the call, but its annoying when I listen to my voicemail and then go to hit keys to do something and realize I need to hit the power button first .

Hopefully HTC will be addressing this issue - for those experiencing it, no backlight, power, or software app, or any other settings have been discovered (as of yet) to eliminate it.

FYI: I found that modifying the DWORD stored in:
Code:
\HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastDormantDisplayDuringCall
from "1" to "0" will leave the screen on long enough for voicemail use (probably falling back to the backlight/power settings)...

Kind of.
\HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight\LockLevel\
Change LockLevel to what ever value you want the backlight set to when your device is locked.

Thanks Jason,
I tried that before and when I change the value to "1", it completely dims out my phone and I haven't even locked it. Any suggestions?

try 4. That should be 4 notches up on the backlight slider in the control panel.

And may I ask how one accomplishes this? I have no idea how to edit the REG in Windows mobile.
Thanks!!
Do a search for PHMregedit, it's a good, free, mobile editor.

I wish I had this problem! I can't keep my backlight on during a call! EVERY time I check voicemail, I can't see the keys, because the backlight keeps going off. The only way is to go into settings EVERYtime!

To Create this "Problem", download Advance Config , you'll need .NET 3.5 for this app to work...
Scroll down till you get phone settings and disable "Phone sleep during call" and / or "fast sleep during call"...
Registry:
"HKLM\Drivers|BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastDormantDisplayDuringCall"
Change value from "0" to "1"
Will turn off after a few seconds

Locking diamond

hi everyone!! i found that if i press some time the end call buttom, there are a few options that i could do, one of them is to lock the diamond... and i set long press the end call buttom to lock the device...
diamond locks when long press the end call buttom, but doesn't go sleep... is there anyway to put the power buttom to do the 2 things simultouneasly?? when you press the power buttom, it locks the device and put it to sleep! is anyway to do this??
I believe that when the device is in standby from pressing the power button all the other keys are locked with exception to the power button anyway? I know its not exactly what you're after but it seems a simpler solution than any others I can think of.
Some sort of script would do it, either MortScript of SKScheMa, to first lock the device (by launching Endkey.exe) and then power off.
Edit: There's also an auto keylock setting that I think locks the device anytime the power is off, maybe that's what you need?

Hi this is how I have always locked my diamond by pressing power off it locks and turns off the screen also, this is performed by a registry edit, using a registry editor and going to Hkey-current-user\controlpanel\backlight\autodevicelockenable and changing from 0 to 1, this will also auto lock everytime the backlight turns off so you may have to change back light off time
that should work.. but there isn't a simply way to put the power off key to do the lock of the pda and to switch off the lights??
isn't a way to do this??

Check these two threads... it looks like Armstrom's lock does the job.

turn on screen during call

How do you trun on screen during a call? Once it times out and display shuts off. I needed to turn display on to turn on speaker phone or mute. When I hit end (pwr) button, the call hangs up.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Todd
easy way is to just hit menu and you'll see the screen again
Mine usually comes back on when on a call if I lay the phone horizontal face-up. if that doesn't do it you can press the back key, menu key or tracball.
None of those work for mine. I am running Nightly #99 with stock kernel.
Try going into settings / call settings then scroll down to keep screen awake longer and check that I think that might help hope it does good luck

[Q] Power button ending call

This seems a little strange to me - whenever I use my phone as a speakerphone or through my Bluetooth and the screen powers off, there is no easy way to turn on the display again without either ending the call (Power button) or going through the camera by holding the shutter button and then hitting the home key.
Does this happen to anybody else?
I'm on 14.1.G.1.518.

Try again without "Adapt to lighting conditions" in Display > Brightness. And when the screen go off in the middle of the call scroll the phone. If the screen show up keep it in that way. If not try disabilitate also Optimized Backlight. Restart the Phone. Sometime happen with Android.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no luck.
I found what the issue was - under Accessibility options, there is an option Power button ends call. That was enabled.
I don't remember enabling that option and I've never had the need to enter that menu.

Ok, but I don't understand why the screen do not show up anyway after call or even in the middle of the call. That option don't do that.
