NESynth for Iphone..developer needs help porting to Android. - G1 Apps and Games

So, I stumbled across this app for the Iphone..
http://www.newforestar.com/nesynth/
It's a really cool synth program..using vintage NES sounds. Here's a youtube clip showing what it can do..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wwz87Ih4uc4
I emailed the developer about getting it ported over to Android. And they seem really interested, but he needs help. Here's his reply:
Hi !
I am Ben Hoshino ≒ dj_samurai.
Thank you for sending mail.
I'm sorry that a reply is delayed,
My check wasn't sufficient.
I have gotten excited very much because the fellow appeared.
I think that it is the following to be necessary for the android port.
1. Port of audio engine
・・・A port will be able to be done easily
if it can writes the audio data to the audio hardware for playback.
I think that it is suitable to use "android.media.AudioTrack".
2. Port of UI
We must make UI which looks like NESynth by Android as well.
I am studying both Audio-Engine and UI.
Are you accustomed about programming of Android?

Android at work(video)

Here's how it looks like.

That looks pretty exciting. I really like the home screen with the scroll app that allows you to choose your programs.
With $10M being handed out to any people developing good stuff for this platform I'd say the future looks really Bright!
This looks awesome. I would switch to this as soon as similar applications that i use on winmo become available for this.
Nice it seems like java can be used for development. Maybe i can finally improve my java skills. I think i feel enthusiastic enough to develop for this.
Hi,
Does anyone know which phones were used in the video?

multi-track recorder app?

I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later, but has anyone made a 4-track recording app for Android yet? Please, please, please?

Considering it has exactly one mono input until some netbooks/notebooks/desktop computers come out running it, why?

With a four-track (or more) recorder you can layer tracks recorded individually to create and mix songs. There's a (reportedly) decent iPhone app called GigBaby that does that and more (drum machine, etc.).
Great Idea
It would be a great idea even if you had to buy some external hardware that plugs into the mini usb port to make it work.
Something like this maybe:
http://centrance.com/products/mp/
Or maybe even a battery powered bluetooth input device. (None out there yet but would be nice)
I like it, this would be great for the traveling musician.
It sould be neat to record a little something as a concept until you could hit the studio. It shouldn't be too hard, take a voice recorder app and just overlay the recordings.

At the risk of sounding like a complete nerd...Forza app request

There's a very good tuning calculator out for Forza 3 that's been written as a flash file. Does anyone know how difficult it would be to make this into an app?
http://forzatraders.com/forza-motorsport-3-car-setup-tool
From reading on Forza forums others have requested the same thing since it's currently an app for the iphone. I have a feeling it would be pretty popular.

We're all nerds! This would be kind of cool. I just bought Forza 3 and playing it little by little. Still trying to figure out everything I can do.
This might be something I'd be able to develop, I've been playing with the Android SDK and looking for an idea for an application that would be useful but not too difficult for a first real project.
I'm not totally sure how Feuerdog feels about derivative works, it looks like he's ok with them, but I'll probably PM him first to ask, just in case.
No promises, but I'll look into it.
Sounds good! I remember reading a thread where someone asked him about an app for the droid, he didn't have the desire to do it himself but was receptive to the idea of someone else doing it. I looked and looked but couldn't find the thread again.
I've talked with Feuerdog, and he's completely open with the use of his calculations for any type of implementation, so I have the green light from him.
I'll play around with prototyping some of the UI and calculations, see what I can come up with. I'll probably work on getting the math working first, then making it pretty second, since an ugly functional app still does something useful!

and if you could also find me a way to view my leaderboards from my phone you would be my hero im in the top 100 in the world for AWD drifting
Just an FYI there's an app on the market now, ForzaDroid by Thomas Weitzel. Works perfectly and looks like it's using Feuerdog's formulas. Results match up perfectly with the output of the flash application.
Looks like it's the same short of app I was going to be making, glad to see there's one already out there. I'll put mine on hold and not worry about it unless there are problems with ForzaDroid

What I'm about to say is going to stir up a bit of controversy, but Android lacks any sort of good music app. Someone should try to replicate the iPhones Music player UI as best as possible.
man i tried so many times but no developers wanna go that route of duplicating..
so i tried something way different then hero..g1...iphone..
i havent seen one like this..
even if i can trade services/applications (mobile or computer) or something to get atleast a music app for me created lol.. that would be sweet!!!

Then may I suggest that you have bigger buttons. Remember most android phones are 3.2" screens. Simple, discreet, seperate buttons on the bottom.
One app will pwn them all. Tunewiki. 'Nuff said.

.................
Well i dont own a G1 anymore..i now have a cliq
On my old G1 i never got to use earphones because it didnt support the 3.5mm....on the cliq it does! I love it buttt one huge thing is the quality of the sound. I have Bose earphones...they sound really great on my iPod and other MP3's but not on the cliq. The EQ is really nasty..so aanyways my questions are
Is this only on the cliq?
Is it possible to change the EQ at all?
Can someone please make an APP with this feature?
If this CANT be done, then why not?
Hope someone replies
thank you and long live ANDROID!
While your proposed layout looks great, that text is so small that there is not even any point of putting the info on there.
Basically you can get 8 lines of usable text with enough buffer around the words to act as buttons.
In your track list pic you are running 14 lines.
That's like a 10 point font change. And I think the phone's default is like 8 point font.
A lot of the functions you are showing are similar to Tunewiki.
And Tune wiki comes with last.fm built in. Has a built in widget. Not to mention the ability to interface with Flyscreen.
What would your player bring to the table that is new or different other than the basic look?

the buttons are actually big size of a 2x2 2x3 widget... they can very!
and as far as the text its just an idea not really much one needed just a feature of marquee type scrollin...

2. it will be a app in the market...and a .apk to install in here...and if anyone knows or needs it in a .update i guess i can find someone to sign it in there and ill load it..
**only if i can find a developer who is interested in makin a music player app**

yeah i worte my player with the intention of making it capable of doing that, as well as adding songs to the current playlist. it makes the initial writing a bit more complex but real pays off
Off topic slightly, but yes there is an equaliser it is VERY VERY good and really works.
I have some great headphones but always thought the sound from my Hero was lacking in treble.
You can even change the volume level for each channel separately.
Anyway screen shots attached, but wait for it....... it's £18!!!
it should be a good app comin.. cant wait!!

Cool man. I'm running it on a 854x480 screen but I do have the emulator to test out other resolutions. Plus I have a 480x320 old phone that runs Android to test on. What resolution are those phones?
Its pretty fun to play right now, but really I can do all the testing myself for now... When I add obstacles and the ability to bail I will let you test. Got any cool suggestions? Or do you want to play with it first?
edit: forgot this is the Dream forum, if I'm here I should know the resolution. I just Google'd "Android skateboarding game" and this thread came up. I used to frequent the Vogue forums here.
Looks great, man. Wanna play this too!

Thanks but you ain't seen nothin yet. Check out all that I added in one week:
Skateboard Game for Android - Pre Release Video 2
Levels, physics, a character, and dancing! Anyone that wants to test this out on an older phone would be beneficial to the game. I've tested it on Incredible, Droid 1, and Droid X. The Droid X slows down to 10 FPS or below very often, thanks to the crappy software. The Droid gets ~30 fps and the Incredible gets ~40 to even 50 fps.
I'm going to wait another week at least before I let whoever contacts me to test this, since I have a few things to tweak and add before I will be happy with it. But let me know so I can put a list of emails for people who want to test. I might release it as a demo on the market in a few weeks, to get some early feedback before I build the full game.
I have a Dream and a Magic, I'll test it on both for you

Great! Message me with your email and I'll add you to the list of testers.
whoa
Wow this is looking good! I also found another person working on a skate game and it looks good too! I have a Nexus one if I can test on that too
Just some constructive critisism...(which I'm sure you already are doing by now and have completed ) maybe the person will have legs that bend and the board looks a little more realistic BUT im sure this is just an alpha and even the beta will be unreal!! good work man keep me posted with PMs too
Rofl, not bad. it has potential for sure!
you know what...
Right below this thread was the thread on getting a ps3 controller to run with android.....can I say EA SKATE?
New Thread!!!
I made a thread for this game in the Android Apps and Games section. Here's the link:
