Flashing the Diamond - Basic question - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello!
I bought the HTC Diamond, and it's based on a German ROM (ROM-Version: 1.93.407.1 GER). It has the Windows Mobile OS 6.1.
My question is: Am I (up to 99%) safe to flash it? I would like to flash it to a English-based ROM. 4 info: Any SIM works in my phone, so it's not locked.
PS.: I have been flashing the HTC Artemis (p3300) already - 1-2 yrs ago, but it's better to ask ppl who know it better
Thank you in advance,
Amir

I suppose I need:
1. HardSPL Util
2. RUU
3. ROM of my choice: e.g. EnergyROM
anything else?

Bingo.
hardspl is in my sig. and you pick any ROM you want from the ROM's thread.

EnergyROM it's nice, fast and all, but it eats all of the diamond1 RAM!
I suggest you try ROM in my signature, or if you want 6.5 ROM try BsB ROM's.
My 2 cents

Cooking a Rom

Hello,
I want to cook a Jade Rom. This would be my first experience with cooking. So I have some questions to you.
1.) Before I flash my HTC Hermes i have unlocked it (CID-Unlock) and load a new Bootloader (2.10 Olipro). Have we this stuff also for the Jade?
2.) I search XDA and found, that I can't take my current Rom from Jade. Where I can now find a German Jade Rom?
3.) Can I test the cooked Rom on Windows before I flash it on Jade? (Windows Emulator need .bin files and I found only .nbh on the Jade kitchen)

Does anyone know how to test the ROM without flashing it to the device?

Orange Branded HD - Upgrade ROM

Hi Guys
Ive done a search but cant find anything specific so im starting a a new thread.
I have a Touch HD which I got through Orange UK.
Rom version sis: 1.19.61.1 WWE
At the moment im told that I cant receive any updates directly from the HTC site and orange dont really seem to care about offering a good after service.
So my option is to flash my phone with a new ROM, however which version to go for is my biggest question and I really dont have any idea. I understand the flash proceure. WIll any ROM allow updates from HTC site?
Thanks
Craig
hi
i also have a uk branded orange touch hd
i flashed it with the latest official rom from htc (the one that needs a serial number to download and the orange serials dont work)
just use a serial provided in the offical rom upgrade thread to download the rom from htc and use uspl 2.5 to flash it
i used uspl 2.5 to upgrade the rom
all info can be found using the search fuction on this forum
i also made a dump of the phone before i flashed it, just need someone to rebuild the .raw files to a flashable rom
hope this helps
math
Nice one Math, that helps a lot! Will give this a go over the weekend.

Ok, where do we start? Which ROM you choose is really a bit like asking what car should I choose to buy. The choice is entirely yours based on what you want and what you like.
I think the first question to ask yourself is what do you want? What Windows Mobile OS do you want? WM6.1, WM 6.1 with Touch flow, WM 6.1 with the latest version of Touch flow or WM 6.5 Beta. I'm sure there are more but lets keep it simple.
WM 6.1 or 6.5? HTC Touch Flow or not? What is your native language as you have nothing set in your profile etc?
May I suggest you have a look through the first few posts of each of the ROM threads for this month and see what takes your fancy. If you ask ten people you will get ten possibly different answers.
Look at peoples signatures and see what most people use as most display what current ROM they are using. Maybe try a few, but I suggest use the safest route and follow the instructions to the letter.
Its always a matter of personal opinion but I like Duttys current WM6.1 with TF3D XT3. It's the latest and well tested with fewer bugs than the stock ROM from HTC (IMHO) and is based on the latest technology from the next gen HTC phones.
Do your research and enjoy!

Yes, the choose is your, but as an Orange user myself. I was bored with the official HTC Orange Rom and decided to flash my rom. Did manage to keep the back up on original rom in cause of warranty reason. I have try quite a lot of cook rom the only problem I had was mainly with battery life wasn’t good and will not last for a day or so. Since with this rom, HD|ROM||WWE|| ** EnergyROM HD Series 21042 - Final Topaz Manila ** || Build 40909 || man!! The software and battery life is incredible. Yes I would recommend to you

where did u get this rom from? link?
couple of newbie questions. I also have orange phone ...
If I upgrade to the latest HTC rom will I loose all my programs installed in the phones memory?
Will I loose my programs/they stop working (e.g. Tomtom) that have been reigstered with the phone (in add/remove programs) on my memory card?
Can I restore everything from a backup (sprite) ?
Is there any way of goign back to the older ROM if I need to send my phone back for warranty reasons?
Thanks

Thanks for info. Just to clarify a couple of things..
Will my sprite backup restore all programs and settings to the new rom version?
How can I backup my existing ROM? I'm guessing the official ROM is a HSPL?
Thanks

USPL and HSPL these are different method of putting new ROM to your phone.
you will find more information in here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Flash1
with this method you can get a backup of your current ROM

Thanks again. I never thought it would be so complicated. I thougth someone would have created a GUI for this stuff, its amazing what they have GUI's for these days and this is still command line.
Still unsure as to wether I can restore my sprite back up after going to 1.56 rom though. With the amount I have installed its probably not worth the effort for now.

Some questions

Hi there!
I was just offered a Trinity, so I came here looking for information on how to update it. I already read a lot of things and managed to install the latest Radio and tried some custom ROMs, no problems whatsoever.
However, I still have some questions I can't find answers for:
1 - Why use a custom ROM? Isn't it possible to use the original WM and then install only what you want?
2 - If it is, where can I find a ROM with the original WM6.1 and 6.5?
3 - If not, what is the least modified ROM I can get with 6.1 and 6.5? Or at least some ROM with only the basics.
4 - Is TouchFlo the same as Manilla? I've seen both words but I don't know the differences.
Thanks in advance!

1. Flashing Custom ROM is faster then installing a whole package like with manila2d.
2. No, trinity only ship with original 6.0 ROM.
3. If you want 6.1 ot 6.5, flash an Ultralite ROM or cook your own. For p3600i 6.1 - try this
p3600i 6.5 try this
If you have the original p3600. Check the Trinity Upgrade Article in the wiki. Remember Lite ROM.
4.TouchFLO is the original that is shipped with the Elf/in
Kaiser etc... Manila is TouchFLO3D and it is bundled with the Diamond and Pro. And Manila2D a slimmed version of TF3D that is used in the Viva and 3G and can be installed in most WM phones.

Downgrade To W.M 6.1

How To downgrade w.m 6.5 To w.m 6.1 ?
I Search All The Fourm , But Not Find Anything ..
down a 6.1 rom
Your search was flawed.
If you really searched, you would find this: Blackstone Wiki with all informations you need.
download a 6.1 rom you like, do task29 first and flash it.
read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377 and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653604

It's so easy! if you have already done HSPL, and I'm sure you've done it before, if you have wm6.5 now
I by myself several times switched between 6.5.x & 6.1, all you have to do is to download a ROM of WM6.1!
here below you can see some of them!
1. Topix 3.5 WM6.1 Manila 2.1
2. Park Basic 1.3
3. Cloudy 0.2
4. Black New III by Kenia
And USPL will do nicely - my HD is working proof...
Performing Task 29 would not be bad idea if device was flashed often.
I recommend to flash latest stock 6.1 ROM you can find for your device. If not, latest Orange UK will be pretty good choice, due to later version of radio (1.14).
AFAIK, Park Basic is discontinued...
I would suggest to flash a stock ROM since it already has 6.1 and then flash a 6.1 ROM of your choice. I've experienced issues when i downgrade from 6.5 to 6.1 sometimes.
Just to be on the safer side, flash the stock rom and then flash the 6.1 rom of your choice.
I would suggest to flush stock rom and to stay with it The last one for ORANGE is a perfect rom imho

A guide for downgrading already exists. Just scroll down to the ottom of the first post in this thread
Reservations about Orange ROM
Hi, I wouldn't use the Orange ROM. I spent some time getting rid of it. Main drawback is the AGPS. It insists on making a data call everytime you want to use GPS software. Also, no Google mobile map, and when downloaded from Google, no satellite view. I would recommend the standard HTC 1.56 ROM, that uses just GPS and is just as quick.
Regards
Mike
I have Garmin and Igo software working flawlessly. No data calls made ever. GPS works fine. I dont use googlemaps so no opinion on that
I made a 6.1 ROM a while back.. check my "Energy" thread for it.

Well, a-GPS can be easily disabled, so that's no big deal. There are several tools to do that here on forum, like HD Tweak. And you HAVE TO disable it if using iGO...
But standard ROM is also not a bad idea... not bad at all...

Can't agree more With all due respect and gratitude to the cooks and the hard work and efforts they put into their roms, for a basic user like me the stock rom turns out to be the best and Ive tested quite a few custom ones.

[Q] Flashing Xperia X1

Hi all.
I have Xperia X1. I have flashed windows mobile 6.5 on my xperia with hardspl and my coustom rom.For example i whant flash htc diamond or htc aria or any pocket pc.Can i use with same hardspl and rom with which i was flashed my xperia or no.Please ask me all about pocket pc flashing.
you can't flash ROMs from other devices to the X1, they have different drivers etc. It won't work, maybe you will brick your phone. In one word: No it doesn't work!
ONLY X1 ROMs on the X1

But i whant WM 6.5 ROM, which will work in any pocket pc, from where i can get that rom.And one question, i have 2 HardSPL for xperia x1
1. 0.72 OliNex
2. 0.78 OliNex
Which are difference in these 2 SPLs, i dont understand.I installed my rom under 0.72 OliNex , working good like under 0.78 OliNex.
And can i use same hardspls for flashing different pocket pc, or any pocket pc have her hardspl.
0.78 is the newest version. Use this version.
You can now choose every ROM in the XPERIA X1 Rom Section.
You can flash your X1 by using the SD-Method or the normal one.
There is everything explained.
Hope I helped you.

Yes, i know that 0.78 is newest version, but what are difference, please explain me all about SPL.And i have downloaded new ROM and i like it, but processor working 100-120 MB, very high, but when i flash different ROM procc. working 70-80, what are problem that procc. working 100-120 MB (More than 50%).
I don't know the difference between 0.72 and 0.78 but there will be a reason why they updated this version. The processor load is depending on the different roms. For example the Energy Rom, needs more battery than Dynamics odr x826 do. Now it's up to you which version you prefer. Roms with HTC Sense (Manilla) need more RAM than clean Roms

I can tell you that I prefer x826 rom but now I am thinking to switch to Dynamics. I had Energy rom but that needs to much batterie.

Yes, I have a X1
Go to the ROM Development section, in my opinion the most beautiful ist Energy rom GTX style and fastes should be Dynamics and x826. You find the links for Download in the Threads of theses ROMs
