Hi everyone i need help here to sort out my lost Micro SD Card For My GENE I Was Using IT When Suddenly My phone Switched Restarted When I checked My File Explorer It does not Shown My card When i put it on card reader it first shows disk is not formatted do you want to format when i give yes it gives error that windows cannot format the drive and another sad thing is it shows the size of the disk as 2.0kb only any body please trouble shoot i request all senior members to help......

my sd card also got same problem.
Try USB Card reader. In case the USB Card Reader is able to recognise the SD Card, format it while connected to windows desktop/laptop.
your sd card will be not format with windows format utility, it will be format by DOS . Use this method
Open windows xp
click start --> program --> acessery -->
commond prompt
you will see a box, Type here
>format k: ( press return key)
note : k is the destination drive where your SD card ploughed
follow the instruction.... enjoy
Try Card Data Recovery. It can help you recover kingston SDHC card data

hi i installed wp7 then after it i go back to win mo 6.5
but my device can not detect my micro sd card i format it and i change my sd card with new one but my device said no sd card include in tools format sd card said # the storage card has been damaged and unable to be formated #

So you are saying that you previously had WP7..So after changing ROM (windows 6.5 or Android) you need to format your card with Panasonic SD formater so it can read the full capacity of your card....BUT.....! You are saying that you did all this steps and still your device doesn't recognize your sd card and also you changed the card with a new one! HMMMMM......
Most probably a hardware problem (sd card holder and reader in the device)
Imo something went wrong with Installation or so! Dunno!
Some guys here said that WP7 will burn your card or something!
What SD cards did you use?

when i connect my phone to pc mass storage showe mass storeg but when i click it no data sho and my system tell please inset meomry
when i want format my sd card from my phone th phoe alert the storage card has boon damaged and unable to be formated
is this the hard wear probiem or soft wear problem

Connect your SD card via card reader to PC and try format it. If you don't see files or PC don't see this card - it can be damaged.
Card reader u mean the card adapter? i don have 1 of those
and when i connect my phone along with the external sd in it
the phone recognizes it as removable disk H but i was not able to open it
does this mean its not damaged?

The file system (partition) on SD card is broken - you need format SD card

Any other method to actually format it without the card adapter?
The easiest way is connect card via card adapter to PC and check that card and files are visible. If card is recognized but you can't access to it you need format it.
You also can do this in your own phone: in settings - memory - try disconnect external SD card and then erase/format external SD card.

Theres no such option "erase external sd" theres only erase sd card
i know this would earase my internal storage but i did it anyway following ur steps

formating/erasing options depends on which rom you use.
When you connect phone with PC and tap mount SD card (or something like that) on phone screen, you should see card on PC - can you see it? You write that it has assigned drive letter H - right click on that and format it.
I tried that it says "theres no disc in drive H:" Please insert a disc and try again
try mount SD card with and without USB debuging.
try format SD card via recovery
If you have different SD card try it to eliminate ROM/settings problem.
i cant erase my external sd because its not detected
the recovery cant mount it because the external sd is not found
trying with and without debugging also didnt work oh my god

In your case there are two posibilites:
1) sd card is damaged - logically (file system/partition) or physically
2) phone is damaged - logically (ROM bug/phone settings) or physically
If you put other SD card in your phone and phone will see it and you will have access to files from that SD card you can be shure that phone is ok

Did you format the card on/in the phone? Don't format it on you pc
Are you properly ejecting/unmounting/removing the device from your computer? I've had similar issues with my digital camera when I forget to eject he card from my Linux computer. I think the files don't get closed properly. May not have anything to do with your problem...

Hi, I have had the problem with class10 sdhc card. it randomly lost data (or whole sd card unmounted when locked screen). I use class 4 instead. However, lost data appeared (a week ago) too - and it was (perhaps) because I didn't "eject" before unplugging... but usually I don't do it, and everything was ok.

In my Lumia 635 i put an 8gb micro sd card in it and it says "cant use sd card" upon turning the phone on... So i use the option there to format the sd card.... after the phone formats it, it has 256.00kb used 199.67mb free... So my phone has made a single 200mb partition on my sd card.... So then ill take the sd card out and reformat it on my computer to 8gb again and put it back in the phone and the phone says "cant use sd card again" and the same thing again... I've used many different formatting tools.. SDFormatter v4.0, BOOTICE, Windows Disk Manager, etc... but nothing seems to work.... Please help me someone...

Hi there, have you ever 'played' with this sd-card, as in partitioning ?
I recommend you try the GParted Live-cd, (also found on Hiren's (restored) 15.x).
steps to take:
-Clean the whole card (remove partitions)
-Create one (and only one) contiguous partition (FAT32)
-Place the card back into the phone, format from there
Please let us know if this works for you (and us) :fingers-crossed: If not, the card might be fried, or worse, the cardreader in your phone... Anyway, for about 10 bucks you can try a brand new card...
