Gps not working after 6.5 update - Touch Diamond CDMA

I just unlocked and flash my sprint touch diamond with MightRom wm6.5 and I must say its pretty sweet. The only problem that i have is indicated in the title. I use google maps and in 6.1 i used to go to menu and hit gps and it would get gps and give me my location. But after the update it just keeps searching for a gps signal and can never find one. Any thoughts?
Also i tried googling it and looking through multiple forums and the only thing ive come up with is people that have verison say that you have to turn location on in settings but i dont know how to do that...and im not sure if this applies to me or not.
thanks

Same Probelm
I have searched ppcgeeks and cannot find a solution. A few users are experiencing the same problem with MightyRom6. I tried to enable GPSone settings in QPST with no luck. Any help?

Yes, go to settings and make sure location is set to On. You could also enable AssistedGPS in the registry with a 32KB log file to help.
If you have QuickGPS installed then use it. If Mighty excluded it then I suggest you get it.
Also, did you change radio's when you upgraded? If so you may need to flash back to the radio version you had before. Make sure you have the latest PRL update as well.

No Gps On Flashed Tilt!!

Guys and girls. I flashed my new tilt to ftp://xda:[email protected]_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.rar. It worked fine but I was hoping to be able to now use the GPS with live search. The only problem is it does not find the gps. Is it under the intermediate driver? Or has AT&T royally messed this phone up so much that even unlocking it wont allow me to use the GPS without paying? Any Ideas? Also I do not get the cool HTC home screen with the big icons and the large clock. Anyone know if those are specific cabs?
thanks
Steve
Do a forum search on GPS. There are quite a number of posts/threads addressing this issue, and lists of viable solutions.
I tried and could not find anything.

Wifi and proxy settings problem

Hello,
I've installed several roms Duty's, Shap's and HTC original.
I'm setting up a proxy on connection settings.
Every time i turn on Wifi it erases my proxy settings!!
Is there someone with the same problem?
Thanks.
Known problem unfortunately and I have not been able to find a fix up until now - although I think today I might have cracked it.
I will report back when I've thoroughly tested.
Same problem here. The SOCKS server stays however, or at least it comes up by itself!
Opera used to support a separate proxy but now it doesn't. So a fix is needed for mostly anything to work.

There are two cabs on dutty's Kaiser cab collection that i don't no if they related with
this problem! They are name removeHiddenProxy4CWS_0522.cab and restoreHiddenProxy4CWS_0522.cab.
Can someone tell us what are they for?

Thanks...
I've installed the latest roms provided by Alex and the official HTC roms. All of them have the same problem!!! This is really a crap. For me it's a bigger problem then driver's.
you may try ProxyOn.cab in this site (search it)

GPS has died

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I've got a UK T-Mobile Vario III.
I've updated my ROM and radio a couple of times and have now discovered that my GPS isn't working. To try to fix this, I've reverted to old ROMs and radios but nothing seems to get the GPS going again. When I load up the GPS Tool and click open, no messages appear in the window at all. I seem to recall that when my GPS was working, messages would appear as soon as I clicked open, even if I was indoors and there was no chance of a signal getting through.
Radios I've tried are: 1.27.12.11 (my original radio), 1.27.12.17 and 1.27.12.32.
So it seems as if the GPS hardware is dead at the moment. Can someone suggest something that I can do to fix this?
Many thanks in advance!
I had a hiccup with the GPS lately. I installed and ran "GPSTest" and it helped sort things out for me
It may take 3-30 minutes to get a HDOP score (as mentioned in the linked post), but at least you'll know your GPS receiver is functioning properly.

Thanks for your replies. Something is definitely wrong as when I run GPS Test, it scans the com ports numerous times and then gives up and tells me the GPS is off. This is so annoying!
start gp test.start your navigation prog.go to gps settings,go to built in gps,use manual settings, use com 4, baud 4800.go outside then try.this worked for me
ive used this on tmobile and o2.both devices are now working fine with gps.
Download Franson GPSGate. It will force start the GPS. You can start & end sessions with it at will pretty much. It's also great because it allows you to use many GPS programs at once.
If you can't find it PM me & I'll upload for you. It's free to use in standard mode w/o internet tracking, server connections, etc...
I think there must be something more fundamental wrong. I've installed GPSGate and when I selected "wired or in built GPS", it is unable to find anything. It looks as if I'm going to have to get this repaired unless anyone has any other ideas...
Have you tried running uickgps to give the gps a kick start?

Yes, I've tried QuickGPS but no joy. But because GPSGate can't even detect the hardware, I think it's more of a problem than just not being able to get a fix. It's almost as if the driver or something isn't working.
You may want to check all the registry entries for the GPS. There is a link at the bottom of the Wiki that lays them out for you.
Having done hard resets and also reflashed the ROM, I don't think it can be a registry problem. Pretty sure it must be a hardware problem so it looks as if I'm going to have to get it repaired :-(
Clutching at straws here but could it be down to the fact that I flashed Schapp's WM 6.1 to the phone? I notice that a number of official 6.1 builds require a newer radio so perhaps flashing Schapps changed something else and now (even though I've gone back to 6.0) GPS will only work with one of the newer radios?
i have the same exact problem and it also started after i flashed schapps wm 6.1!!! ekhh did u find any solution?? thanks

Exactly same problem here. I flashed Schapps 6.1 ROM and the GPS is DEAD. I'm thinking about sending it in for service.
Anybody has any ideas?
the only solution i was able to find is to flash to schaps 6.1 rom. the gps now works fine. i guess once u flash to 6.1 ur gps will only work with 6.1....this should be a sticky

Strange that yours works with 6.1 as the other posts all seem to have the same problem with the GPS completely dead. Sounds as if the 6.1 flashes to a part of the ROM that the 6.0 ROMs don't flash to. Surely must be reversible, I'll post a message in the Schaps 6.1 thread. Fingers crossed...!

Omaralt, you da man. Worked perfectly. Even my miomap works this time with schaps 6.1 rom (which it previously didn't). Thanks a lot.

I don't think that this is true - I flashed several WM6.1 roms (and their radios), ending up with Sleuths, but after a while I noticed that it took considerably longer to get a GPS fix.
I returned to Duttys v4 with radio 1..27.12.32 and GPS is working fine and gets a fix as fast as before.
I don't know what the original problem was but in general I found it took longer to get a fix for all WM6.1 roms.
Dutty seems to have a 'team' of great beta testers helping him with his roms and I'm sure that one of them will notice this with his current private beta roms. If so then expect a fix soon.
its not about taking time, when i open up any of the gps programs (gps fix, etc), it doesnt even find the gps! it scans all the com ports, and when it gets to com4 the gps light comes on, but then it scans the other com ports and then tells me no gps found. if i put teh settigns on com4 it'll spend a few mins "looking for gps device" and then say gps off. by upgrading back to 6.1 it works now...
Try a other RADIO ROM
I think it has all to do with the RADIO ROM....

Telenav problem..

Just wondering if anyone is having the same problem with telenav, or if there is a fix to it. Ive looked around the forum with search and cant seem to find anything but telenav not being compatible with custom roms.
Im using Dutty's latest rom with my Tilt and i recently just added telenav to my phone, when i bring it up, it connects fine and gets to the screen where you select "drive to" and "maps". When i try to determine my own location to record it, i hit go and it basically brings up the connecting box where it goes from 0 to 100% but it doesnt move at all for me after a few mins anywhere i go..also i cant do any routes for the same reason..it seems like its just not making a good connection when im outside. I checked my connection settings, proxy is not on..set up for medianet on both connections as i read from another persons suggestion, but still no go..
assisted gps is also turned off..i can do quik gps and everything else just fine but it hangs when trying to download the route...ive re-installed the program also but no go still.
anyone have any ideas to what might be causing this?
if this problem has been resolved, ive looked and looked in the forums but maybe my eyes are blind lol.
thanks for any help.
I'm running Dutty's latest 6.1 dated April 9 and Telenav and have no issue. Runs flawless.
ok
What are your connections settings, are you on medianet?

Yes I am on medianet. Proxy is disabled.
gprs setting
is your gprs setting set to chap authentication, i havnt touched this but mines set to chap, but this is auto configured when setting up the network with att?
still not working..
Yah my telenav is still hanging up at getting gps when trying to find route and my location...installed gpsgate and changed the radio to 1.58.16.27 not sure what else to try..
Can't remember, but do you download telenav through Pocket IE after you flash the custom rom?
I can't remember if it auto-decides what download you get based on your PIE useragent, or if you select the product for downloading... but if it's based on UserAgent you may run into issues...
Cellular video, for example, does not work if the UserAgent is not the Tilt
yah
i downloaded the cab through a txt message i received from att. i selected att and then my phone and it auto installed from there.
only thing i havnt tried is changing my rom but i dont see how that would help..im using dutty's apr 1st release.

First, did you Hard reset after rom flash at the "Tap here to alighn" screen? Second, did you install Telenav prior to any cooked rom flash? The reason I ask this if you got the file from AT$T while you were using a stock rom then that is fine, but if you got while you were using a cooked rom, it is probably a bad file. The reason is that most cooked roms have the PIE User agent set to TYTN II not HTC-8900 (AT$T Tilt) which could cause a corrupt download if you indeed have a Tilt. I suggest uninstall, power down, power back up and try the file I attached. I have installed it with every rom I have tried, literally dozens and never had an issue. When I say power down, power back up, dont do a soft reset. Use the power button.
yah i always do the hard reset after flashing. i dl'd it with dutty's apr 1st rom..i selected the file based off carrier and phone model. I will try your cab after work..im hoping it will fix it haha thanks man. Once i get home i will let you know how it went

i started up gpsgate b4 i ran telenav, its saying it has gps data coming in but no position..
im clueless..lol

Just a question but do you have assisted Gps enabled? If so, disable it. If that doesnt fix it, maybe try GPSTest?

GPS problems

I've tried my gps in a load of places and the closest i've got my location to is 1500 m.....
I've done it alongside my friends N95 and he pretty much instantly got our location spot on with his google maps app, but my diamond couldnt get it.... left it for about 5 minutes before giving up!
Any help would be ace
Did you load the Almanach Data before?
e.g. Did you ever started QuickGPS before?
Have you clicked on the menu tab in google maps and clicked on the use gps button.
I havn't started quickGPS before, but yes, i did tick the use GPS button. It said searching for satelites in a small blue box at the top of the screen and then that disappeared.
I've never got a fixed location off of it letalone trying it at home, work, town, everywhere
Try the quick gps application first,it will help by getting the latest satelite information.
What version rom are you using.
Errrm, bit of a noob to the whole winmo scene, diamond is my first and i ony got that about a week ago....
How do you find out the rom version?
Also, another seperate question... is it worth updating ROM? I've been to the other forum and heard names like Bepe and stuff, but it doesnt mean anything...

Start > Settings > System tab > Device Information. Your ROM version is in there. If you have 1.35 or 1.37, then YES it is definitely worth updating. Whether you use a stock ROM or a cooked rom (like Bepe) is up to you.
I'm following this thread because I've had similar problems with GPS, even though I've already followed every advice I found when searching. It's not a high priority for me though. Anyway, I've played with both the Windows and Google GPS settings, every combination thereof, and everything else I can think of, but no real luck. At ONE point it was working, but then I flashed another ROM and never got it going again.
i got a ROM: 1.37.405.1
Radio 1.00.25.03
which means????
I had it working using the same ROM/radio versions as yours, AND I JUST GOT IT WORKING AGAIN! I know I tried this unsuccessfully since flashing 1.93, but this time it worked...
Leave the Windows GPS settings at default. In Google Maps GPS settings, set it manually to COM4 and 19200. Go outside, and tap Use GPS. It will say "initializing" for a while (give it time), and get a fix. After the first time it's slightly faster, but still seems pretty damn slow.
thanks, will try those settings tomorrow when it's slightly less cold, dark and rainy outside
cheers
