Kaiser LCD into Touch Pro? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

My Touch Pro screen has been dead for a while now and I just realized that I have a slow Kaiser right here and the screen looks to be the same size...
Of course the lcd that ships within the Touch Pro is a lot nicer..
anyway, would I be able to take the LCD & Digitizer out of the Kaiser and use it with the Touch Pro?
I'll be posting this in the Raphael (Touch Pro) forum too because otherwise I need to know of a recommended website that has a lcd/digitizer at the lowest price.. ebay has some at 30 that are lcd and digitizer but ya never know if it will actually work good!

lol teh funny!!!
my parrot died...i missed polly so i plugged in my ferret's heart and brain and a bolt of lightning and a jolt of electricity later, i cried "it's ALIVE!!! it's ALIIIIIVEEEE!!! muhahahaahahahahahaahhaa!!!"
ummm no, sorry, no, just no!
EDIT: thought i should state the obvious...kaiser has a QVGA 320x240 screen and Touch Pro has a VGA 640x480 screen. even though the physical size is the same, sadly electronics are not so simple. theres a lot more to these things than just plain physical dimensions. go for the replacement part(s) from ebay or other online suppliers as suggested (most likely) in the Touch Pro WIKI.

ok np ty.....

Replacement screen?

Hey there.
I got "faulty" Diamond from a shop. It has one minor issue with screen. They told me that glass broke on the screen and now the screen has two small scratches.
So, where can I buy replacement display/screen for my Diamond and is it easy to change? I asked from a local repair and they told it would cost something like 250€/300$. I tought it's a little bit high prize so I was thinking if you guys could help me out.
on ebay there are diamond screens for sale
Not a very bad price also..

Thanks alot. That is really a decent prize.
Has anyone of you guys changed HTC Diamond screen? Is it a big operation?
Never done it to a diamond.
If I look @ the service manual I hate to say: yes, you'd have to take some time, there are a lot of steps.
But it's doable, just take your time, read the service manual first to know what to expect.
Then carefully take all the steps in the manual to disassemble the device.
replace the screen, and re-assemble according to the service manual.
I wish you good luck!
BTW You could also buy an extra digitiser (touchpad) for if the touchscreen is damaged.
maybe this will help you http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-diamond-digitizer-p-2128.html
Hi be very carefull with the screen , i just changed my lcd at a HTC service center, the screen is composed by 3 parts the digitizer (touch screen), lcd display, and the front cover ( the metal that you see around the screen), all this parts are changed in one piece, you cannot change only the touch screen or the lcd because, it can be done without damaging the lcd. Dont buy from ebay only the touch screen because you wil and up breaking your phone.
Ps the screen ( front cover, touch screen, lcd display) cost me 110 euro.
Here are some pictures of my old screen.
Thank you all, for your replies. I've ordered the parts and should get those by the start of next week. I think I'll manage to do it, didn't seem to be that hard.
Thanks again.

Thanks for your reply.
I allready have found many cheep offers for a digitizer.
But my question is whether it's possible to change only the digitizer and not the hole part consists of digitizer and lcd screen...???

Tocuh screen doesn't work

First of all, HI to every one, this forum is excellent and u are doing excellent job.
I have one problem, yesturday my htc tytn Ii felt down from half meter and from that time my touch screen is not working . screen is working fine but touch no ...what can i do? to open a case and see if conector is maybe disconected or ? is there need buying new lcd screen?
You can try opening it up and disconnect/reconnect the touch digitizer ribbon cable, if that doesn't work buy a new touch screen digitizer. They're fairly cheap.
so correct me if i'm wrong, there are two parts on the display? lcd screen and that touch screen digitizer??and digitizer is on top?
Yes, there's the LCD screen, then on top the digitizer.
the digitizer costs about 15 bux on ebay, and the lcd with the digitizer costs about 50. my touchscreen stopped responding awhile back, so i had to replace it. word of advice though. the digitizer is kinda build into the lcd, and it is a huge pain (atleast 4 me) to replace it. i ended up cracking my screen doing it, and had to but the whole lcd.
so your suggesting to buy entire lcd screen with digitizer on it?
You can get the lcd+ digitizer from yallstore for 35$ http://www.yallstore.com/htc-tilt-tytn-ii-att-8925-lcd-touch-screen-replacementt56-p-874.html
Which is exactly what i ordered on thursday after my screen cracked.
Replacing JUST the digitizer is quite tricky, i don't know if any of you guys have done it (i have) and it was pretty darn tricky if youve never taken fiddley things apart beware! the digitizer glass is glued on (around the edges) to the LCD, a sharp knife around the edge (the glass WILL crack) and a careful replacedment (i had to solder the ribbon cable on) should help there is a guide somewhere where someone has documented their attempt!
so can i be sure that my problem will be solved with new lcd screen?
please guys i need anwsers fast

Can you be certain this will fix it? No. It's about 99% likely, however. I don't know about you, but I pay alot more than $35/month just for my service. I haven't done the screen on my Kaiser, but I did on my Excalibur, which my son then inherited. To be honest, the Kaiser looks easier from what I've read.
it most probably isn't a software problem, so yes buy a new LCD+digitizer and replace both.

Touch Diamond 2, Touch Pro or HD?

hi all,
i am planning to buy a new htc model and i am thinking about getting either a td2, hd or pro. currently in our country we only have hd and pro, td2 will be available in 2 weeks time. wgich do you think should i get and why?
By the way, do all of them have haptic feedback? it was never mentioned in any site i checked.
Thanks everyone!
Cheers!
You could think of it in this way:
They are all the same with the following differences:
1-Diamond2 is the smallest & cheapest.
2-HD is similar to Diamond2 but bigger in size, bigger screen (in dimensions) & more expensive.
3-Touch Pro2 has slideout keyboard and screen is middle sized between the other two. it is also most expensive.
If you meant Touch Pro1, then it has the smallest screen of all three, but it does have a keyboard.
So based on your prefrences, you can only decide.
im planning to buy a new htc device this coming weekend, does the hd have the same rom with the td2? because i saw in some reviews that the td2 has more tabs and new touchflo. is the back housing of the td2 gets scratched easily? is the hd upgradeablo to 6.5? sorry for the questions.
thanks all!
Hey man, I don't own any of these devices, but I am planning on buying a td2.
Heres my comparison :
TD2 has better video recording, slightly nicer pictures than the hd but a smaller screen but improved tf3d(respond better), TD2 will also get a official 6.5 wm upgrade when it's out. Also has landscape qwerty keyboard now.
Too bad it has a extusb port for headphones, you have cheap converters though
HD has a big ass screen, but lower video recording resolution, is more of a pda than a phone. However, won't get a official 6.5 wm upgrade, but roms give you that, it runs on the hd. Also a 3.5mm headphone jack, very nice feature. However, feels really big, you can see this as a pro or con.
Tpro2 has a real keyboard, but a 3.2 mp camera(both hd and td2 have a 5mp camera), don't know if it gets a official wm 6.5 upgrade, this phone is too expensive in my opinion. Pretty much same features as td2.
It depends on what you are looking for, if you are looking for a phone like htc phone with better ability to make pictures and video and a slightly more polished software, go with the td2.
If you like watching videos and like a big ass screen, go with the touch hd.
If you want the same features as the td2, with a real keyboard but a worse camera, go with the tpro2.
Moneywise, I would say TD2 if you want the best deal.
Overall, in my opinion, I would say get the Touch Diamond 2 or the Touch HD.
Hope it helps
thanks zerosilver
my maincincern about the td2 is its back cover which scratches easily. does it have a haptic feedback? i heard hd has it.

TD2 has haptic feedback and its screen is as sensitive as an Iphone's. Except that it can also sense fingernails, while the Iphone can't.

what about the back cover, does it get scratched easily? so td2 is better than hd?

WRONG. Haptic feedback does not mean it's a capactive touchscreen (aka iPhone's thermal touchscreen). It's not also, that's the difference between windows mobile phones (most of them anyways) and the iPhone. iPhone has thermal (capactive) touchscreen and htc uses a pressure touchscreen which goes by pressure points.
Just to be pedantic, capacitive is not thermal. It use the fact that your fingers can conduct electricity, so touching the screen change the static charge of the screen locally. Nothing to do with temperature, deal cold fingers would work as well as warm ones ;-)
But because it is based on conduction, capacitive screen are intrinsically more sensitive than resistive ones (based on pressure). The slightest touch is enough to change the static charges, in fact it already change slightly even before the finger touch the screen. On the other hand, there are no stylus that work for capacitive screen, at least for now (except fat conductive ones, but they do not allow drawing anymore than your fingers).
So resistive screen still have an advantage: you can get very precise drawing using sharp objects with pinpoint contacts (stylus, fingernails,...)
BTW, TD2 has much better finger detection than my older PDA....but on the other hand, handwriting recognition and drawing does not work as well: it is accurate in term of positioning, very accurate, but it is slow: drawing a line or curve on the screen work, but the curve appear with a very noticeable lag behind the stylus. That makes handrawing or handwriting possible but slow (I have to slow down my hand to get good results).
Anyone noticed that?

Spare digitizers on ebay... are the good?

Hello, since the screen (digitizer) has several annoying scratches I want to change it. I've searched on ebay and I've seen many cheap sellers for hongkong or china... Are those items as good as the original ones?
I purchased a new lcd and digitizer for my touch pro from ebay. I know its for a different phone but i cant see any difference between the diamond and touch pro other than the screen shape. (i have also had a diamond) It was £25 for the pair of them
To be totaly honest i cant tell the difference from the original. The touch works perfectly. The lcd screen is also equally as good.
As i tip i would get the digitizer and lcd as one unit, i have replaced several digitzers and lcd screens on alot of phones and it can be tricky seperating the 2. For the few extra quid in my opinion its not worth the hassle, or the risk of damaging one.
Thank you for the advice
eBay Screens are good IMO
I have purchased a couple of Digiter / Screen combos from eBay. So far I have not had a problem with any of them. One that I had ordered was from New York {HP iPaq}, & the other I ordered was from HK {T-Wing/Herald}. I just bought a used Diamond & it has a small scratch on the screen. This is annoying the Hell outta me so, I looked on eBay at screens. I usually try to find a true OEM replacement. I think that I found that @ this eBay page: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260468938303&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT . This is the best deal that I have been able to find. I know you're not in the US but maybe this helps anyway.
I bought a digitizer with lcd from ebay. The seller is from china or HK. The digitizer working good but the lcd quality abit lousy. display kinda dark compared to the original lcd. perhaps the pixel not same as the ori.
Anyway, if you think of just getting the digitizer, shud be fine. however you must be assure that you can replace it as it kinda difficult to change. unless you very confident on you soldering skill.

Prestigio multipad 8" split screen

Hello, i got for free Prestigio Multipad Thunder 8.0i 3G (PMT7787_3G_D), but screen is split, about half screen to one side of the cleavage is dead... But LCD is good, view is so clear and bright.
I try find out how change this model touch panel (she is from glass), but in russian forums i found just that to LCD with touch panel is full face glued and most people say that they spoils LCD when it try distinguish it from touch panel. Maybe something is to try to distinguish this model touch panel? I see in youtube some people separate LCD form touch panel with hot air fan-heater and strong fishing line, but some people in Russian forums says that the glue for this model is very hard (harder than Apple or Samsung). In internet china shops i see glass touch panels for this model in sale, it means that it is possible to change them, but how? Or for the new touch panel replacement match UV glues? Is this device worthwhile the risk to remove the touch panel and only buy touch panel (16$) , or if i failure to remove the touch panel and LCD will damaged simply forgetting that tablet pc, and maybe this device worth at once Buy the LCD with glued touch panel (60$)?
P.S. Many thanks for the answers in advance.
P.S.S. Sorry for my terrible english knowledge :/
I would say any device that you purchased for $60 is not worth repairing. If you do decide to repair it, then you'll need a heat gun which will cost you an extra $20 or so to buy. So you're going to pay at least $30 to repair a screen that might not survive the repair process.
I have people who lend for me good bosh heat gun, and i have good flat work table. I don't know where i can buy touch panel with glued lcd (ready to use LCD+touch) for best price, in aliexpress cheapest offers is out of stock... i write to services who repair touch screens, i got answer that cost me 30-50$ with parts and replacement, hmmm from they get screens :/ because i just find cheapest for 60$...
P.S. yes, this device is cheap now~100-150$ (i got for free) but it with Atom series intel procesor, is this procesor not a miracle? Good stereo, good 8" ips screen...
