my Hello IM! is gone! - G1 Apps and Games

I paid for Hello IM! months ago from the android market. Just recently i flashed a new rom, when i went into "my downloads" hello IM! was no longer listed as "purchased" and i cant seem to find it on the market.
anyone else notice this? kinda lame! it was a 10$ app!

I just searched for "hello" on the market there and it came up as the 5th result. Did you login on the new phone? Did you use the same account as you did when you purchased? Apps are linked to accounts, not phones. I know it isn't a great deal of help but it's all I can think of.

i can see it in the market just fine. what rom did you flash?

interesting i cant find my paid apps nesoid and hyperspace, iw onder if there is something up with paid apps disapearing?

Actually oddly enough I just helped a friend with the same exact problem.
Find multiplefacets inc's support email, explain the situation and tell them your account info. They would have your purchase history on file and they can get your purchase back to you very easily.

the issue is with the rom you flashed probably...it probably doesn't have paid and protected apps allowed.

Mybackup Pro Question

I have been lurking through these forums (and others) for a bit and I have noticed talk of copyrighted apps disappearing from the marketplace or those with root that have put their apps onto their SD card.
The new MyBackUp Pro App gives you the option to backup all of your apps to your SD card. Has anyone had any issues with certain apps disappearing from the market after utilizing this feature? Thanks in advance.
well, my backup has been around for a while, ive been using it for months, however they added a few features with pro, but mosty its a donation. anyways ive never had a problem with any program as result to mybackup, and definatly one of my favortie/must have apps.
Cant find mybackup in market?
I upgraded my old fully working version of mybackup to the new piece of **** scam one that crippled the restore feature and now its forcing me to upgrade to the pro version.
1st of all how os it an "upgrade" when u cripple an app and then force u to upgrade to a paid version to get it to work again???? Wtf??
And 2nd, has mybackup disappeared from the market for anyone? I've tried typing all sorts of jeywords in for it and it won't pop up? Even the notification that mybackup provides with a shortcut doesn't work? It says sorry this app could not be found? Please check spelling? W
Wtf happenes to this once excellent app? How did it go to such useless ****?
Can anyone help me find it again???
Thanks

The application made it clear that feature from the free version would expire. Also, there was no upgrade to expire the features, it was build into the application when it was released.

do you work for free???
if you can't afford $0.99
then you can't afford a G1

Paid apps are not accessible to all of us, and this move on their part puts a lot of people in limbo. I can't use the old, free, version anymore and I can't buy the Pro version. Caught between a rock and a hard place, and I'm not enjoying it.

MyBackup Pro
If you are still on the free one and find that you cant backup or restore. This is not true, you are only allowed 2 Backup sets, so if you have more, deleting them (or moving them to another machine) and freeing up the backup sets will allow you to create another backup, just not one of Applications. Also, you are able to restore any of your old Data backup sets, again just not applications...

From what I've heard yes as well as non us users. I use rc33 and have never had a problem finding any app.

its the same for me... kinda sucks, id go rc33 but done really want all those tmobranded stuff (since im not in the usa) i guess i can always delete them like i do with the amazon mp3 thing
on the other hand, for some reason my main gmail act is unable to be registered for google checkout and the only and last reply the "google checkout team" sent was "i am unable to use checkout on that acocunt" ive sent them 3 emails after that with no reply whatsoever, and i dont find an 800 number for them =(
I'm in Norway, and thus have no access to paid apps.
I noticed also that MyBackup Lite is no longer available.
I would gladly pay for MyBackup Pro if it was possible, but as I don't have the necessary access to the "paid apps market", and since rerware have no "buy directly from us" option on their webpage, I'm out of luck having MyBackup work the correct way.
So here were my steps to still be able to perform a backup using MyBackup lite, before I'm about to upgrade to 1.5:
1) search google for "mybackup apk" and download the apk
2) use appinstaller to install
So far so good.
4) launch MyBackup - receive the "there's a new version, please upgrade" message
5) answer "no", try different things but still receive the same message. There's no way I can perform a backup to SD
6) Think about it: how is the application able to know there's a new version available? It must poll some servers somewhere
7) enter airplane mode, effectively bring the phone completely offline
8) start mybackup again, perform backup to SD card
~Christopher
maybe i can shed some light on this, as i have had the same problem for a while now. the problem is that if you have any G1 with the ADP firmware on it, NO paid apps will show up in your market. this is done on purpose by Google. Google even has it included in the agreement for any ADP phone... The reason is that the copyright protection does not work on the ADP firmware and all paid apps that are bought on the ADP phone, can be ripped from it and then spread around the internet. I started with the Tmobile g1, and then went to he ADP 1.1 firmware, and i could no longer access any of my paid apps i bought while i had the original firmware on it. Now i have the ADP 1.5 from JF, and still same problem. The only difference i noticed with ADP 1.5, is that the apps do show up in "my downloads" and they will actually install. on my phone specifically though it would only do it over ATT, but not over Wifi... which was strange, but i havent gotten to the bottom of it yet. The apps that are supposedly missing are all there. they are just not viewable in the market with any phone that has the ADP firmware on it.
Thanks,

USAA [email protected] .apk outside the US?

How do I download and use the "[email protected]" app from USAA bank from outside the US? It's free but I need to get a legitimate copy of it for obvious reasons. I emailed USAA and did the obvious Google searches before posting this, but I am getting nowhere. I am making the assumption that they are limiting it to the US market (I'm in the UK). I am running a compatible version of Android, so I should see it, but I don't. Here are my basic questions:
1) If I got the .apk somehow and installed it here in the UK, would it work from here?
2) Would using a wifi connection with it be different than a mobile network?
3) If #2 is yes, could I configure my router to use a US proxy?
I really like the idea of taking a picture of a check with my G1, and depositing it that way. If anyone has figured this out please let me know how it works. Thanks.

These are assumptions, not answers:
Most likely it would work from UK in any form you try to use (WiFi/network). I would assume since USAA will have clients outside of the US for obvious reasons there would probably be no check that you're on a US carrier.
If you're having trouble getting the apk, I could download it from the market and send it to you. Send me a PM and I can email it to you.
Here it is. Hope it works from abroad!
Sweeet!
Thanks, r4d14n7. I appreciate the help. I just tried it over wifi and it worked no problem. Haven't tried it over 3G but I bet that works too. I was using the regular [email protected] before, but this is even better.
** Mods if you can change the title of the post to "[email protected] .apk outside the US?" it would help others searching for this same issue. I'm a noob and I wasn't able to type it out correctly...thanks.

What phone and version are you using, because I DL'd and tried to install, but it keeps giving me "aaplication not installed".
I'm using Sprint HERO, but version 2.1, so I should be good to go, thanks.
forty01 I'm using the latest stable Cyanogen build (4.2.15.1) on a HTC Dream/T-Mobile G1. I downloaded the .apk to my desktop, then transferred it to the memory card on the phone over USB, and disconnected the cable. Then I just navigated to the .apk file in Astro file manager and opened it (touch the .apk file in Astro and then touch "open app manager"). I've got the phone's SD card partitioned with the apps running off that (apps to SD). You probably did the same thing but I'm covering all the basics here to avoid any confusion. Hope you get it working. If I left anything out here just ask for help again.
Yess i have the htc eris and can not find the mobile banking app for regions can any one help??
That was downloaded from the market just before I posted it (10Mar2010). I'm running a G1, but I'm not sure that makes any difference. I'm a little noobish when it comes to apks
I overlooked something obvious here but I'm learning. I just tried the "Market Enabler" and now I see the USAA app from overseas. That's got to be the simplest way to grab it, and keep it updated.
Can I get this to work on Cupcake? I'm running the Aloysius ROM on a CDMA Hero. The software version says 1.56.651.2, and the .apk above won't install.

Not on Cupcake (Android 1.5), it runs on Donut (Android 1.6) or higher.
From the USAA website... "The Android app is free and available now for devices running the Android operating system version 1.6 or later."
You will have to upgrade to a newer version of Android before installing. When you do, grab the USAA app directly from the market. Use the Market Enabler (search for it) to get the app if you are outside the USA. Good luck.
Reviving this thread. I have a GSM Hero (U.K, unlocked, not Orange) running Android 2.1 and still cant find this USAA app in the market. Anyone know why?
** Update August 2011, I removed the attachment, it's a year old. The only correct way to do this from outside the US is to root, use Market Enabler, and get it in the Marketplace.
Here's the newest version of the app, attached below. (Removed)
First thing you need is a file browser to navigate to the .apk, once it's on your phone's memory card. Find a file browser in the market if you don't have one yet. You will have to enable installing third-party sources, your phone will prompt you if you haven't already. The problem with this method is that you can't update the app, and you have to trust my attachment as being safe.
A better way is to root your phone, and install Market Enabler (Google it). Requires root access, but it works perfectly. You can use it over wifi, 3G, whatever. You can use it to browse a lot of different markets. Plus, you can download the USAA app directly from the market, and update it that way, too.
Post a reply or PM me if that doesn't work out for you. Also, email USAA and ask them to make it available outside the US. I did, and they aren't ready to do it yet. Silly, considering who their members are. Just my opinion.

I agree with everything you said. Did you actually talk to USAA about that? Yeah, I went looking for Market Enabler etc, but you need root (as you said). I can't find a reasonable guide for rooting a stock 2.1 GSM Europen Hero (unbranded/unlocked). Is there one?

One thing I didn't think to mention yet is to try something like App Brain. I haven't used it yet but it's pretty popular on this and other android forums. I think you can set up an account on the website, load their app on your rooted or un-rooted phone, and load apps that way. Worth a try.

Thanks so much r4d14n7. I was having problems getting the app from the market as well. I live in Belgium.
But now that I got the app up and working, I tried to use [email protected] and it is telling me it cannot find my location. I have GPS and wifi on and both the maps application and my web browser on my vibrant are working. Any suggestions?
tpmaxwell2 I've never seen it try to get my location. I don't think it needs it. USAA is just limiting the download availability to the US. Once you get the .apk, anyone can use it. I'm using it no problem from the UK and it never switches on my GPS, nor is there any delay launching the app. It just comes right up. I posted an updated version in post #14, scroll up a little to see it. I've got that version running on both my rooted G1 and a stock, unrooted Desire from here in Europe. If you try it and still get location errors or other problems, post here again so we can figure out the problem.

So I enabled wifi location and the app worked! Thanks so much!!
FYI...
I ran across this thread after trading in my iPhone 3gs for a HTC Desire HD. I went into the market to download the USAA app, and it couldn't be found. As suggested above, I installed market enabled, set as a t-mobile phone, then searched again. The USAA app showed up in the search, I installed it, and it works fine. BTW, I'm in the UK as well. Hope this helps for anyone else having the same problem.

Missing Apps in Market after update to FroYo

So I updated to FroYo manually thanks to the methods posted here. I've nearly reinstalled all my apps with the exclusion of one; Square. I cannot find it in the market and thought maybe the dev pulled it, but it shows up in 2.1 and web-based market browsers, just not in 2.2. Anyone else experiencing this? Can I just force the apk onto the phone somehow?

This is not root or something else regarded - everyone has these issues.

Great to hear I'm not alone, but being an early adopter can sometimes blow (in the BAD way) =\
Is this being discussed in another thread? I did a search prior to posting and came up empty
EDIT: Mods, thanks for moving this to the appropriate forum. I've seen mention of this issue appear in various threads, though no thread of it's own. Will wait for devs to catch up with 2.2
I reported the same problem on modaco last night... I'm sure google will enable de protected apps this week, just a slight oversight on their side.
i had same problem, just put them apk on your sd card and install it. if it is being a stubborn app like a certain few just copy/paste or move them to data/private-app and install from in there. should take care of it 4 u.
Same problem here (Tapatalk Pro and Extended Controls missing).
when you create an app you can set a max api level to support, or not.
applications that have that set won't show on newer devices.
exzeus, square, and a few others seem to have done it...
give them about a month or so and you should see them come around.

Having the same issue here. Wife's N1 can't find WeatherBug Elite, or the Helix Launcher in the market. Even after reboot.
Same. Paul actually fixes it in his roms by changing the Rom fingerprint. Some of the unofficial nexus updates he integrated did the same thing to protected apps. Once fingerprint was changed, it seemed to have done the magic. I'm guessing that he will do the same next week for froyo.
Same here my paid app wont show up which means I may be losing sales so I'm pissed right now

How do I get my PAID APPS back on Froyo?

Hey guys, I've read intermittent pieces of advice so far, but I know I can't be the only person dealing with the fact that none of my paid apps are in the market. Is this dependent on the developer or is there something I need to do?

Google have released an update before adding it's signature to the market?
Seems like an odd way to go about doing stuff to me.
Quite a few apps seem to be missing (drocap, Tower Raiders Gold)

Plenty of paid apps on mine. Did you wipe before installing?
Lots of apps are marked 2.1 only by the devs.. until they get updates they won't show.
Are the apps that you specifically paid for showing up, or just apps that you have to pay for overall?
Both.. I have a long list of old apps that I bought ages ago and don't use any more, plus the usual collection of 'highlighted' new paid apps on the main screen.

As far as I know Google didn't release the update. It was pushed to members of the press and employees at Google. I've yet to see any evidence that it was pushed to a significant portion of the customerbase.

Yes. Same as 2.1, basically..
Yeah I have the Top Paid category. But what's interesting is that when I wipe the device and reboot it, during the initial setup it restores all of the applications that I didn't pay for automatically. I have a feeling that maybe this is the issue, but I'm not sure how to turn that off.
It's supposed to do that for all apps, but it's never worked for me.. I always have to pull them back with Titanium Backup.

[Q] Problems with Marketplace

Hi. I'm an old Leo user with WP7.. (used a tutorial here on xda for installing the wp7). I've managed to do everything i wanted. Everything is working fine. Got the activation code for Marketplace via Live support on Microsoft. Marketplace works great.. Well, the free apps work great.. Here is my problem: I can't buy apps.. Everytime when i try to buy an app, I have to add a credit card.. I fill out the form, press Submit and than the page says: Error. Try again soon. 2 secs later i get an sms from the bank, saying that I've succesfuly paid 1.13€.. The app that I'm trying to buy costs 2.49£.. so WTF?
So that's my question. Also I'd like to know, is there any way of installing Doodle Jump (that's the app I'm talking 'bout) besides Marketplace? Am I able to install it as an .xap? And if so, where can I get the .xap file??
Looking forward to all kinds of answers!
David
Sometime i have problem with marketplace if i use the 3g using wp7. Maybee it works with Wifi? Never had any problems over there. Also If you buy an app I think u can reset your phone and reinstall it without paying again if you logged in with the same live id. Did u try to install it again? install or buy at the bottom in marketplace? good luck anyway couse i would like to know the answare myselfe if i gonna buy apps in the future.
Hello David,
I had the same problem in the past with the initial release 7004. Everytime I tried to active my credit card via Leo it gave me an error. Some weeks later I was able to activate my credit card.
Have you used the latest build 7392?
Btw. we will not answer questions about software which is not free of charge.
