Help with Creating Cab File

I have this comm manager that I found from the forums a while back.. It was made my Mfrazz..... This installs correctly and works fine... However, I wanted to change the color of the buttons from blue to a maroon color that fades to black.. I opened the cab file and found quite a few files and an XML file... I found out the the other files were actually .png files renamed. I renamed them to a .PNG file and and used Gimp to edit the pictures. I then renamed the files back to the origion file extension and rezipped the files using winrar into a .cab file format. When I attempt to install the comm manger. I get an unsucessful error. Heres a pic of the comm manager that I am changing around as well as a copy of the cab file that is not working properly.
Any help would be greatley appreciated. Maybe you could enlighten me on what I did wrong.
This is not an issue where the comm manager is opening in the background. I think I might have done something to the files when editing them to change their colors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The picture on the right is the comm manager created by MFrazz.... The picture on the right is me trying to install the cab file that I created. I just edited the pictures of the comm manager to suit the theme on my phone. I have been searching for a comm manager and decided to make on my own..

Can´t delete fontfile in windows folder

I´ve read about the option, to change the font of TF3D. There was a zip-file with 4 fontfiles inside, all of them i have copied to the windows folder instead of \windows\fonts, because on my device there isn´t such a folder. After doing a softreset my TF3D has changed its font. But when i try to delete this files, it doesn´t work. Not by the file-explorer on the device and not by the explorer of the pc when connected using ActiveSync.
Is there a way to delete this fontfiles, so that the TF3D changes its font to the old one ?
Another question : How can i change the fontsize of TF3D-Font ? The calender on the home screen is a little bit too small.
Thanks.
Disable TF3D then reset and try to delete the file.
No, it doesn´t work. The files cannot be deleted.
Maybe i should let them on the device, by the next hard reset they will be deleted anyway

So, how to change GT540's font?

I've been trying for several days to change system fonts to the ubuntu font, and every tutorial I've come across doesn't work with my rooted GT540.
Has anybody managed to do that?
I tried using both update.zip methods and by means of applications... no luck with both methods.

I couldn't get it to work either. I think the fonts are overwritten when the device is booted. Would be nice to change the fonts.
Finally, I got it working. Lg GT540 doesn't use droid font, but some other font named SJSans.ttf, wich is also on /system/fonts (I've never noticed this font there lol)
Just replace that font using root explorer. Just in case, fix permissions of replaced files to be like the other ones in that folder (I don't know if this is necessary though). Reboot.
Here's Ubuntu font family, with filenames ready to copy paste in /system/fonts.
It didn't work for me, some texts were readable but some weren't the clock wasn't showing..

It depends on the font you use, of course, and your language. If you use something like tahoma, everything should work, because this is a very complete font with support for many many characters and languages.
The ubuntu font works perfectly with Portuguese language.
I had to reupgrade and make a hard reset, the clock WAS missing! And my phone is set to English. I tryied the ubuntu fonts cuz i really like them nothing but trouble..
Ubuntu font pack works like a charm with Polish language, thanks a lot!
howdy guys - don't know how I ended up here, but if you're familiar with the regular method of changing fonts on android, the optimus is a bit different;
normal Clockopia.ttf is your SJGothicFull.ttf (this is the lockscreen clock)
normal DroidSans.ttf is your SJSans.ttf
normal DroidSans-Bold.ttf is your SJSans-Bold.ttf
I haven't tested this, but this should work for you guys with any font (you can even change the ones in my thread if you know how) Best of luck
Edit - again, if you know how, the new version of the comfortaa font is complete, so that should work as well, if not better than ubuntu.
I had same issue with clock going missing.
if your using root explorer.
hold down the font file you just move to system/font folder
select permission.
User - tick first(read) and second(write) box
Group - tick first(read) one only
Other - tick first(read) one only
so it should now look like
SJSans.ttf
[date here] rw-r--r--
restart and I got my clock text back along with my new font

[Q] Can I change the color /theme on just the dialer pad?

Is there a way to change just the contacts and dialer pad to any custome color(love dark blue) on the Eclipse 3 Rom at all?...I have tried ex-dialer but that just adds a dialer.. I want to change to stock dialer..
Thank you
Rich
sorry for typos....I meant custom colors......and... Want to change the stock dialer.
Thank you
hello
no problem, copy your blurdialer.apk from system/app/ to your PC
and open this apk (by winrar) and to change backgroud edit file
go to /res/drawable-hdpi/bg_dialer.jpg
if you need to change dialer number backgroud color
go to /res/drawable-port-hdpi/dialer_background.png
dial numbers are in
/res/drawbale-hdpi-finger/ folder
you make easy edit this files overwrite with old one and, and move back blurdialer.apk when you done to /system/app/ in your droid
Hi Niko..
Thank you soo much!.. I have spent ages trying to do this .. I am a little unclear on some things though... I will put in quotes what I don't quite understand:
1-"open this apk (by winrar)"-- Is that the app winrar?..Like unzip the file then edit the hex numbers? to change the colors?.. I have only done anything remotely closely to that about a year ago..
2-"/bg_dialer.jpg" - what do I edit that with?.. just Notepad? or PaintNet
3-"dialer_background.png"--same question about what do i edit that with and is this just changing hex numbers or actually changing a picture, like changing the colors of pixels? and in that case I guess i need to be very careful to stay in boundaries..like not bleed over a couple pixels?...obviously that would not be a prob if i am just editing hex numbers.. I have never learned code..
4-"you make easy edit this files overwrite with old one and"-- I do not follow this.. I'm sorry...
Thank you again... I don't know why Droid 3 is so difficult to change the contacts list and dialer colors...
Rich
ad1. if you have instaled winrar on your PC you make look in all android applications xxxxxxx.apk and pull out and insert files
ad2. you need to edit by some graphic editor (paintbrush is also ok for that )
ad3. as ad2. you make easy change everything on this picture (but do not change a resolution)
ad4. when you done with editing your images open a orginal APK file with WINRAR and copy there a this new edited images (overwrithe the old one)
and pase edited xxxxxx.apk file to your system/app folder in your Droid 3 phone
sorry for my not easy to understand eng.
Thank you!!.. no problem about eng :good:
Well that was interesting...lol... Thank ** for nandroids...I did not know how to transfer files even with MyPhoneExplorer.. Just kept having probs that I did not know how to fix so I guessed and nope.. I took the dialer.apk..swapped files and put it back...not quite that easily though...and then couldnt even open the dialer nor contacts..I did a backup right before I started playing around.. I need to learn from square one how to do the advanced stuff..
Oh well, One of these days I will look back and laugh that I did not know how to do that...
Other phones just had apps that would change the theme of the dialer, but not droid 3 at least not with Eclipse 3 that I have found yet. I love the stability of Eclipse though..

Niko- Would you happen to know anything about editing Go Contacts.apk themes using APK Multi-tool? Thank You!!!:fingers-crossed:
I relize that this is the wrong thread for this, however I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE, I have a LG Optimus Zone 2 with the same problem, I don't have the dialers or backgrounds described, I changed all that I could find: LGUSTelephonyProvider in system/app and LGContacts, LGContactsProviders, and LGTeleService in system/priv-app, have tried different dialer apks, and even Holo themer from the x-repository, Can anyone help?

Curious about this as well
i'm also curious about how this is possible..
My guess is that Sense is using it's own font from some HTC resources, rather than the usual Android system one. So the usual apps for switching this will be changing the wrong thing...
It'll probably require some Sense-decompiling stuff...
*Edit* well- maybe not. There's a whole bunch of Fonts in /system/fonts, maybe you're just changing the wrong one...
Try TrickDroid Roms Tweak package. There you can choose and install some Fonts.
You can change the default font before flash a custom rom.
I don't know how to make a update.zip so... here's my way(doing it on the PC).
1. Rename fonts which you want to use to;
"Roboto-Regular.ttf"
"Roboto-Bold.ttf"
"Roboto-BoldItalic.ttf"
"Roboto-Italic.ttf"
2. Open a custom rom with winrar.
3. Drag&Drop renamed fonts into system/fonts.
4. Flash.
If you use TrickDroid, skip 2,3,4 and do this;
1. Open TrickDroidThemes.zip with winrar.
2. Drag&Drop renamed fonts to additions/fonts/asap
3. Apply theme. (choose "asap", of course)
you can also disable the low battery beep sound
I hope it helps
