SMS Inbox shows Contact Numbers instead of Names

Hey all,
I've had my Kaiser a while now, and I love it to pieces. However...
When I open my SMS/MMS inbox, I see all my texts, but instead of showing the Name of the person who sent me a message, it shows there number (i.e +447870111111). This happens if I haven't pre-saved the contact to my phone (Even though the contacts were saved on my simcard). What's more, I thought copying all the contacts from my SIM to my phone would work, but no look. And now, I have 2 sets of all numbers! (one on SIM and one on Phone).
So My questions are:
Is there a way to have my SMS inbox show the contacts name, rather than number?
Is there a way to tell the Kaiser to hide my Sim Contacts, and just display my phone contacts.
I've searched and searched for these issues, but cannot find anything. I'm fairly technical so am usually good with these type of things. But any help would be appreciated.

for the second question, use kaiser-tweak ...
there's a option under [contacts] where you can disable sim-contacts.

Just to confirm I'm not a jinx, can somebody else who experiences this issu please post?

When you store a contact after receiving an SMS, the SMS database is not updated with the contact info and so the Inbox will show with the number alone! But after storing it once, the next SMS will be named with the Contact. This is how it happens in Windows Mobile or the way it handles the messages. The updating is not done in all SMS after a contact is stored as it would slow down the device.

Thanks for that Carty, now i know I'm not going insane!
It's a shame it has to be that way though... Standard mobile phones usually update themselves when you've saved the number as a contact. Ah well, I still have the best phone ever!

Experiencing The Same Problem
Try to include the country code and for sure you'll have the name appear. Problem will be, when that person is calling from the same country... Country code will be omited. So you wouldn't see the name of the person who's calling... and vise versa

Wow this thread's a blast from the past
TBH I've not noticed the problem again, which could mean one of two things:
1) The problem has now gone after Flashing a WM6.1 ROM, or
2) I haven't had any "New" people send me a text.

I haven't had an issue with numbers showing on an SMS instead of names (as I store my numbers as +447976123456, but I did have a REALLY annoying issue with SMS delivery reports having the number instead of the name.
This would have been fine if I sent one text every now and then , but as a heavy texter it drove me nuts - never knowing whos message had been delivered.
Just in case anyone else is having trouble with this - try the attached file - it lets you change the format of the report you get when your SMS is delivered!

Sim contacts read wrong, doesnt lookup contacts in new sms

Hey everyone, having an issue with my TYTN II.
The contacts from my sim card have gone all weird.
They show up the second word first and do strange things.
i.e. if i had jim - john it shows up as -jim john.
if i had james c it shows up as c;james etc
and when im typing an SMS it wont autofind them, i have to hit the "to:" button and go in and find them, and its messed up cause its reading the names wrong...
Any help appreciated!

I guess you did check the options of the contacts list... didn't you?
I don't think the Kaiser would mess them up without any external input
Err... although yesterday my Kaiser erased the whole contact list without saying a word! ...and against my will!

Had not checked the options, but did just then, couldnt find anything to change it
all of the contacts have a /1 after them, forgot to add that.
any thoughts?

Queued SMS messaging

hi all,
i travel on the underground trains a lot, and sometimes its the only time i get to write / reply to text messages.
however when i click send all i get it "SMS CANNOT BE SENT" message and it gets saved in my drafts. then i have to remember later to re-send them.
is there not a way that we can queue the messages in our outbox so that the phone immediately sends when it gets reception?
my old phones used to do this but it seems newer ones dont..

just wanted to ask if people understand what i mean? i found a similar topic to this form last year with no replies also.
my old HTC (200mhz windows mobile 5) had no issues with this, so may be this is just a registry fix... ?

There is an easy way to do this...
type all the message in ur Tube Train
once all the messages are there in your drafts, go into your drafts folder, select all the messages and click menu>move and move it to outbox. Once your phone will get the reception sms will automatically go

see but this is the problem, if i do not have reception already then sms get automatically moved from the outbox back to the drafts folder.
i know you are trying to be helpful but i want it to do something different!
imagine this, you are on the tube, then you get off and make your way through the crowds up to the street level onto a crowded busy street where just standing in one place would be in somebodys way.. so i walk to where i have to get to and immediately once i am there the client will be asking me questions or i will be working to make a good impression for us..
it leaves little time, and by the time i would remember i would already be at home wondering why i havnt had a reply!

someone must know where to point me to find an answer?? i cant be the only one!

i've asked on a few more windows forums to see if anyone knows. ive also had a look through the registry myself to see if there is anything obvious which there isnt..
i'll keep posting back with my findings.

I really understand what you mean. That little thing keeps annoying me too, most of the times I believe I've sent the message but I haven't, leading me to missunderstandings.
My old Nokia n70 didn't have any problems with that....sometimes I miss that phone so much!

no that will not help. threaded sms is a PITA and is not what we are wanting.

Hi. I have two questions about sms, I have a kasier and my brother a diamond, the first problem he has is about sms, that he can't send more than 1sms long, he can wright more caracters but only one can be send. He said he had no problem before.
The second one is a questions about a future that my kasier and many other models have, is that when u try to send a sms, at the number line all u have to do is punch a first later and a popup will show every name saved related to that letter. How come on diamond it is not, is it any solution so he can have that on his diamond. thanks in advance

Em Using diamond last 1 year.i don't have problem sending a msg bigger then 1.
yes in diamond u have to wright first letter of contect name and it will show a popup .

sms contact typing
I haven't had any problems sending more than one sms at a time. For the name to pop up i had to use Diamond Tweak to get them to pop up.

Thanks for the tip, but i surf around the diamond tweak v.0.5.3 the latest one thats what the phone has, and i could not find anything relatet to sms popup names. can u be more specific on how to enable. And pleeeeease some help if anybody know for the sms problem. I seen many other people having problems sending sms in other posts but no solution.

[Q] Show date AND time for old SMS

Hi,
using Windows Mobile 6.1, SMS list shows the time for SMS reveived today but only date for older SMS.
1- Is there any way to SHOW the time for older SMS?
2- If there's no way to show it, is there at least a way to KNOW this time?!
It seems an incredible lack to miss an option to show SMS details including timestamp and also the EXACT used number (because some contacts may have many numbers and the SMS thread only shows the contact name!)

Try copying the sms in question to sim...

When viewing your SMS, on top of the screen you have the name of the contact, just go up to see the date and time.
No clue for exact number instead of the contact's name.

I think you need a new certificate and sdkcerts to fix compatibility issue !!!
