Help - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hy,, i have a hero and he have some SIM lock, please HELP,

If you have a CDMA Hero, it is quite impossible that you have a SIM lock, because the CDMA Hero does use SIM cards! Please post in an appropriate section, and use *search* before doing so, because SIM locks have been discussed many, many times!

Dave

diamond question

sorry for the silly question, but im new to this windows mobile, is there anyway of finding out if my diamond is a gsm or cdma type phone thanks for your help.
Type?
My understanding is that CDMA devices don't have a SIM card, so you could check that first?
ok thanks for your quick reply. my phone does have a sim card so i presume its a gsm phone.

gophone sim does not prompt sim unlock code

I have a weird issue, and was hoping that maybe someone could shed some light on what I am seeing.
I just got a used G1 on ebay, which I want to unlock. When I put an ATT GoPhone sim in and boot the phone, I am not prompted for a sim unlock code. It is not unlocked, I know the this as I do not connect to the ATT network at all and cannot modify any of the APN settings on the phone. I know that I need the prompt for sim unlock to actually unlock the phone. Fortunately, I just found an old international sim laying around and that one seems to trip the prompt for the sim unlock. My questions - why does the GoPhone sim not cause the phone to prompt me for an unlock code?
Thanks for your time.
Hmmm that is a good one. I used a normal att sim and it asked for the code, is it a older sim? Maybe one from the cingular days? To weird man.
the gophone sim is a new sim, just purchased and activated. I know the sim is okay, because I can use fine in another phone.
I have an unlock code on order. Hopefully, using my other sim to trigger the code request, I will be able to do the unlock. Hopefully, then, the gophone sim will work fine. I hope to post positive results back later.
thanks
Yea you can unlock it with any sim and switch to another and it will work. I know a few people on here use att gophone sims so you should be fine.
so I was able to sim-unlock the phone using a different sim.
I still have a real problem though - when I put the gophone sim in, I still find myself unable to connect. I even go to settings>wireless controls>Mobile Networks>Network operators and try to manually select at&t. When I do, it says "registering on at&t" for a while and then says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network". Again, I know this sim works - I have been using it in another phone.
What do you think I am doing wrong?
Thanks
It sounds like something is ****ed up with the sim, even though it works for the other phone. Do you have any friends with att sims? Something really sounds off here and if it isn't sim related then I don't know what it could be.
will try to find someone with an AT&T sim, but I don't know what the deal is. I even tried an international sim (that should roam on t-mobile here), but I could not get that to connect. I have tried putting in a tmboile sim and that seems to be the only thing I can to talk to a network
As a side note, no APNs show under settings>wireless controls>Mobile Networks>Network>Access point names when I put non-tmobile sims in. When I add one, it still does not show up on the list.

I will open a new thread as the thread title no longer accurately reflects the issue.
Thanks,
Ryan
There is a thread for ALL APN's in one of these dream forums. try that one, make sure you save the APN when you enter it to, dont just hit home or whatever.

[Q] First touch - TP2

Hello everybody!
I just bought HTC TP2 (not new) The exact model is PPC6875US.
I have some general questions about it. The guy said that the phone is unlocked. I put my SIM card ( bulgarian gsm career ) but I cant find network. The phone says - "No Service" and I am not able to chose network manually - but I have some in "Set Networks". My career is also there.
So here is the question. Should I change my radio to be able to get roaming here (in USA) and then to change it again then I come back to Bulgaria ?
The current software is:
ROM 2.01.573.3
Radio 2.18.00WV
PRL 15088
PRI 1.63_027
General question - my phone should be CDMA & GSM , so which HardSPL should I use ?
I am sorry if the questions are stupid but I was reading the forum threats last 2 days and I got very confused :/
Thank you
P.S. This is my first WM phone, so any help will be welcome
ok, first off, be very careful when flashing radios to make sure you pick the correct type ! (CDMA or GSM) You can permanently brick your phone by flashing the wrong type of radio.
It sounds like you have a CDMA phone, but to double-check, have a look at the model number, which is written underneath the battery. If it's a CDMA phone then it will be "RHOD400" or "RHOD500". If it is indeed a CDMA phone, then even though there's a SIM card slot and the phone can talk to GSM networks, you must *only* flash CDMA radios. You also need to use CDMA ROMs and CDMA HardSPL.
Right now you're in the wrong forum if you have a CDMA phone. Go into the CDMA sub-forum and you'll find HardSPL, radios and ROM links under there, and you should be able to find better advice about how to use a GSM network on your phone.
This isn't ROM development. Should be moved.
Seems like a reasonable question for this forum to me, just that it should probably be either in the radio sticky thread or the HardSPL sticky thread.
Of course it's a reasonable question, but not for this forum
This should be posted in the General Rhodium section.

[Q] AT&T Sim Lock

Hello,
I have recently just got back to the U.S from europe and have been given a blackberry phone with an AT&T sim card by my father. And have a HTC Topaz running ENERGY ROM but when i put the sim card from the Blackberry into the Topaz it doesn't work. It says:
Sim Lock
"network is locked, please input unlock code"
I used to have a pay as you go AT&T card last year and it worked fine but this one doesn't seem to work on my Topaz.
Any ideas on how to make it work?
I appreciate all information and help handed!
Thank-you in advance!
