SDHC Card class - HD2 Accessories

Hi all,
Just wondering if the class of a microsd is worth considering when purchasing. I'm after a 16gb card but read somewhere (PCpro?) that there was very little difference in reality between different class cards.
Let me know
Thanks

X1 MicroSDHC Class Speed

Does anyone know what is the MicroSDHC class speed rating of the X1?
i currently have a SanDisk Micro SDHC 8g Class4, and i'm planning to upgrade to 16Gb. is it better to buy a 16GB Class6?
4 vs. 6 that's the different

What the heck are you talking about? Any card will work on the Xperia. The X1 does not have an internal card so it has no MicroSDHC write-speed rating.

I'd take the Class6 card - needless to say my card is Class6 already
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SD_card
he's asking if the x1 can support those speeds or if it will be a pointless waste of money

sorry for the late reply.. yep ale07 is right, i just wanna know if there would be any difference if I use a Class 6 or Class 4 card on my X1.
well I guess I'll go for the Class6. can anyone recommend a GOOD brand? Transcend is the most common and the cheapest.. but I've read bad reviews about their products and same goes for Kingston.
I wonder why Sandisk isn't making any Class 6 cards.
i've got a transcend and have no problem with it...
i also have 3 sandisks and also have no problems
so personally i don't think branding is really that important
Prob no difference. The class rating is the MINIMUM guaranteed write speed it will do (barring any host-side issues). I have several microSD cards, all class 2 ranging from 1GB to 16GB and all of them provide over 20MBps read speeds.

Class 10 sd cards

Does the G1 support class 10 sd cards?
Also, using a custom rom, can I partition the card so that a 32 gb sd cards works?
You obviously know something nobody else knows about... where to get a 32GB class 10 uSD card..... link please?
http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/16/...hc-card?icid=sphere_blogsmith_inpage_engadget
But to answer your question sjbayer3, I'm not sure if the G1 supports it.

Good luck jamming that into a uSD slot.
Its about 4 times too large, physically.
LOL.... I love these threads every few months.
The keyword you have missed OP, is the word micro. Micro carries a LOT of meaning.
either way you guys have been pretty pathetic with answering the questions:
will a 32gb micro sd card work in a g1?
my bad on the micro part... yes class 10 sd cards exist... im unsure if a micro sd class 10 exists

Well you have internet so I'm sure you can google it and find an answer...I know I did. And if you looked at my first post there is a link there that answers the question that YES Class 10 Micro SD cards do exists in 16GB format.
Can the G1 use a 32 gb micro sd card

Nobody really knows the answer to your question. I'm guessing mostly because the 32gb microSD cards are almost worth as much as the dang phone itself. In the meantime, you can buy one and try it....if it works let us know as well.
On every search that I ran on google everyone keeps saying that the G1 doesn't support them.
the g1 should work with all SDHC cards 4gb - 32gb when it comes out

But still nobody will know because they'll probably be like 150 bucks
You could always buy one and see for yourself, I have not heard someone do it yet, but maybe you can and report back to us what you find out
Remember that sdcard and micro sdcard are DIFFERENT...
I ordered one for my hero, if it doesn't work, I'll put it in my camera. It's backordered at the moment... I'll update. I'm pretty sure that the G1 and Hero have the same SD compatibility (2.0) and I think that the class 10 is SD 3.0... so I have doubts
well, i have a class 10 16gb MicroSD Card in my Leo and it's working fine.
Also i have 2 more 16Gb cards (1 x Class 4 and 1 x Class 2), between the Class 2 and Class 4 i don't notice the speed difference when playing around on the phone but i do indeed notice the improvement in speed when using the class 10 one, so my guess is Class 10 will most likely work fine in all HTC phones using that slot form.

[Q] Does it matter what kind of SD card you use?

So I only have one right now that's in my phone so I'm thinking of buying one for the NC. Obviously I want to root so does the class matter?
I'm using a class 4 and it's fine for watching videos at 1000+ kbps.
Most seem to be Class 4 at the moment.
Also keep in mind that the class doesn't mean much, depending on who you buy it from. Class 2 cards from reputable companies like Sandisk and Kingston tend to perform much faster in benchmark testing and real-world usage than so-called Class 6 or even Class 10 cards from eBay specials.
Also, does the SD card have to be inserted at all times for the NC to be rooted?
No. The directions under rooting tell you to remove the SD card after rooting.
But I recommend a Class 4 card or better from any of the major brands. You can check NewEgg.com reviews for particular ones.

Thanks! I didn't read through the instructions all the way yet since I don't have my NC yet.

question before i get a nook

was wondering if there is a requirment on what class sd card you need to have to run android been lookin around and havent saw anything yet sorry if its obvious.
thanks for any help.
mods can delete this after i get a answer.
if you plan on booting any roms off of a sd card, you're going to probably want a sandisk class 2/4.
And yes, the brand makes a difference.
im pretty sure i have 2 8gb class 2's i was told that it wouldnt be fast enough is this true or would i be ok?
it's actually not the speed, it's the random write speed per se. So it has to do with sandisk for some reason in particular. It's possible that they might the OEM providers of their actual internal flash, which would explain things actually.
I haven't looked in the tear down thread to be absolutely sure, but I wouldn't be surprised.
Class 2 is great.
If you got any OLD sandisk cards, that they don't make anymore, they are even better.
alright cool i got a 8gb class 2 sandisk card thanks for the help.

compatible 32gb cards

hi,
I'm just looking at upgrading my HD7 to 32gb. I've found a class 4 card that i know will work 100%, but i'd much rather buy a class 10 card. Does anyone know if SanDisk SDSDQU-032G-U46A will work ok? available on amazon. or has anyone else had a class 10 32gb card working in their handset?
thanks in advance
will keep this thread posted with updates to try help others in future!
I know some guys are using a 32gb - Class 10 - micro SDHC in their hd7's and just about any 32gb micro SD or micro SDHC card will work now... Just not micro SDXC cards. Not a 100% sure if the SDSDQU model will work for sure though, but if it's a newly manufactured card it should work! If there's a return policy, get it and try it, if it doesn't work return it and get the 32gb - class 10 - SDHC.
You can bench the card that you get in a PC using CrystalDiskMark 3 http://crystalmark.info/download/index-e.html
and use the 4000MB setting. Then you can post what type of card you got and the benchmark test results in this thread here

and theses guys should be able to help you further with it!

tanks for share
I just picked up a HD7 to have a play with WP7. Was not intending to upgrade it but when I inserted the sim it did not go in correctly so I had to remove the back anyway. I had a 32GB Lexar class 10 which I know people have reported as not working. I've been running it for five days with no issues. I've loaded music, movies and apps all run nice and fast with no stuttering
the only card that work very good is only old class 2...Sandisk is perfect!
Im using a sandisk 32gb class 10 the red and black one with no problems at all
rocking a sandisk 64gb here
