HardSPL for Retail Unlocked Phones - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

Hi I couldnt find a definit answer but I have a unbranded unlocked retail phone. Do I need to do a HardSPL on it as ive only ever had branded phones before which I have had to run HardSPL on it first before flashing new roms.
Im hopeing i dont have to then i can easily put on the stock rom back on incase of warrenty issues.
If someone could clear that up for me it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Having an unbranded/unlocked phone will allow you to use any SIM card easily enough. But, if you want to flash a custom ROM on it, you will still need to install HardSPL on it.
For warranty purposes you can always reflash the stock SPL to relock it. All the information on this can be found in the HardSPL sticky here.

how can i use WIZARD with VODAFONE ROMANIA network ?

Hello everyone !
i have just bought this device. not yet received it ...it's on it's way. I want to find out what do i have to do with the rom or whatever to make this device work on vodafone romania network?( vodafone bought CONNEX )
I'm not sure what rom it has, most probably T mobile .
And further more, can you tell me how to upgrade to this rom?where can i buy it from and how to flash the deivce. I've read that u can only flash the rom with a specific ver...an older version.
HELP?
10x a lot
after searching a little bit ... it's not the rom i need to flash to use it on vodafone, i have to unlock it.
ok, anyone can tell me what DO I NEED to unlock and make it useable on vodafone romania?
PLS ! 10x again
Unlocking
If you do a little search around here, you'll find a software called Lokiwiz, and all you need to do is follow the instructions and you can unlock your device. it's a good Idea to do a CID unlocking as well (with the same software) before you upgrade the ROM. Right now I've been using the Mr. Clean ROM for a couple of days, and it's working fine. I would recommend that one.
Hai Noroc!
If it's T-MO branded, you will definitely have to unlock it before using it back home in good old RO
like i said in a pm, i kind of know what do i have to do. my only worry now is the downgrade to a 1.xx rom.
With the mda still CID locked & sim locked i have to downgrade to a 1.xx rom in order to use the lokiwiz right?
So, to avoid any problems while doing this, which rom should i use for 1.xx version?

CID Unlocking and ROM info on uk Tmobile Vario

OK I'm thinking about trying a different ROM, I have alot of programs installed that are included in some of the ROM's on here, so I guessing I would save some memory by installing a custom ROM? also removes some of the Tmobile crap? Will it be safe to install any ROM on here?
I dont understand all the different names (aku etc)
I have SIM unlocked it, but not tried to CID unlock it yet.
I have IPL/SPL 2.21 on the loader screen, is this a G3 model?
Installed with latest Tmobile ROM (This was wireless G enabled)
I have searched on here for info, and found some, but because its a delicate procedure, I would like to be sure before I risk it.
Can someone tell me how to CID unlock it and install a ROM?
Should I even bother, or stick with the Tmobile one?
Thanks

read the Sticky for the definitive guide to CID unlocking and upgrading G3 wizards.
If you follow every step in that tutorial you will:
a. have a CID unlocked wizard capable of being flashed with any wizard rom, custom or otherwise
b. you will KNOW that you device is CID unlocked because you did it yourself
c. ROM's will actually flash because your CID is unlocked.
NOTE: you currently have a 1.08 bootloader. You cannot flash a 2.xx custom rom until you upgrade your bootloader to 2.xx. The easiest way of doing this is flashing the much promoted T-Mobile 2.26 rom. Of course if you follow all the steps in the unlocking tutorial you will end up with IPL/SPL 2.26 and be CID unlocked.
ok, thank you
it says that it voids the warrenty
But i thought it was a made-by-tmobile download?
And can't i just reboot it to the original version i have right now if there are any problems or anything? Will the notice? is it possible?

If you want WM6 you will be voiding your warranty as you won't be able to flash it unless you are CID unlocked.
There currently is not and most likely NEVER will be an official WM6 carrier rom for the Wizard.
If all you want is the latest carrier rom from your carrier then all you have to do is go to their website and download it and follow the instructions. You won't have to worry about CID or warranty voiding.
As for them noticing, maybe, maybe not. It really depends on who you talk to. If you stay with roms only made and released from your carrier you won't have anything to worry about as you can flash them without doing anything that will void your warranty.

How to "undo" hard SPL for Tmo TP2?

Hello Guys,
I’m a noob to this and planning on flashing my TP2 for the first time. I am wondering if I need to return it back to factory settings for warranty work of some sort, I know I am supposed to reload the original Tmo ROM, and then how can I go about undoing the HardSPL and locking the phone back?

Everything you need to know is HERE
there are some files there which allow you to reflash the stock SPL, but are they specific to the phone/carrier?
That thread is for an AT&T Tilt.
Thanks,
it's not only for att tilt. if you read it you'll see how to relock your phone in that thread
Just re-lock the phone with the latest stock SPL.
Please ask in the correct thread.

Flashing Back to Stock ROM

can anyone give me a step by step on how to flash my ROM back to STOCK?
if you want it for warranty reasons then you will need to flash the SPL also to stock. you can just download the latest ROM from HTC website and flash it. it will give you the stock ROM on the existing SPL.
End of the post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2710548&postcount=1.
Remember you will also need to go back to stock spl if for warranty purposes.

nevermind what i said there, for sum reason it works again now
I've kinda got thesame question. I flashed a stock rom (latest EU rom from HTC site), then stock SPL (1.14) and then the stock rom again. Is this enough to be able to claim warranty without HTC finding out about custom roms/boatloaders?
Thanks

That depends. What was your original rom and spl? Are you entitled (via location) to use the new EU rom, eg if you live in America then this may not be acceptable to HTC.
When you boot up the new rom, are the screen colours ok as this will tell you if you have the right spl for your rom? If you have the latest EU rom, I doubt that 1.14 spl would be the right one, but it could be I guess. With the stock rom, you should also get the stock radio. So provided you have the stock rom available to your area, with the correct matching spl and the radio, there is no way to tell of your exploits
Thanks for your reply
The problem is that the screen of my device won't turn on anymore (Device powers on, I can connect with activesync, digitizer works fine) so i have no way of checking if I have the right SPL or not...
I also have no idea what my stock rom/spl/radio version was.. I live in the Netherlands, and through the official HTC site i flashed the latest rom, which included a radio (a radio version was part of the filename). What I'm trying to find out is:
Could 1.14 have been my stock SPL, or was that version never used on any Dutch Blackstone?
If the spl doesn't match the rom (wrong colours) that isn't much of a problem; I can tell them I tried to update my rom because I thought maybe my screen would work again after I installed the latest ROM... But if I have a SPL that was never even used I don't think they will buy that
According to the wiki there are 2 Dutch roms - one would require a 1.14.0000 spl and the other a 1.54.0000 spl. So I guess either of those would do.
When you flashed the rom from the website, where you still using hspl or uspl? Depending on the rom you flashed you will need to flash the matching spl. Do you have the full notation/naming of the rom you flashed. This should give an indication of which spl you will need.
As much as I appreciate ClydeB1 for assisting you, I fail to see a reason for this thread. A thread already exists for flashing advice, i.e. the dummies guide. Also the HardSPL thread exists and has advice on how to flash back to stock. So depending on your query post in either of these.
The initial query and reason this thread was created has been answered, so no need for this thread to remain open. Thread closed
