Diamond ESN swap? Not clone - Touch Diamond CDMA

Okay, I'm on my
5th Touch Diamond and I am sick of the phone
I have a Blackberry Storm sitting around and was
curious if I could swap the ESN's
(so the Blackberry gets the Diamonds and the Diamond gets the Blackberry's ESN)
I'm just 6 months into my contract and
I miss 1/2 of my calls.
Ideas?

vario 3

an now due an upgrade. I have a vario2. I rang tmobile and they are offering me a vario 3 for £30 on a 18/12 contract and for £80 on an 12/12 contract... Aparantly they have none in stock and are going to call me back when they have more in a couple of days.
Is this a good deal ? I wonder if i should ty to barter at all. I have been on flex35 and W&W plus for 17 months now.
I no some funky pda phones... eg the xperia x1 will come out soon... should i wait .... or pay more for a shorter contract
You'll get many answers to this one, all different It all depends what you would use it for; I got the vario3 because it had High speed internet and built-in GPS. If you're looking for a workhorse that can be used to connect your laptop to the internet, then its worth considering. If you need high quality, high-speed graphics, then maybe not.
Its all about the need for features versus the desire for a new shiny toy. I waited until T-Mob had the vario 3 in stock, then switched to them from O2 (where I had the XDA exec and XDA2s before that)
i payed £30 to upgrade to a vario 3 after being with them for 18 months on flex 35.
the choice i had was £30 for the phone and £35 a month line rental for 18 months
or
£80 for the phone and £30 a month line rental for 18 months
the 12 month deals in my eyes arnt even looking at
It cost me £79 on the launch of the Vario III as an upgrade for my then ~2 year old Vario. I continued with Flext20 and £7.50 W&W.
Again it is an 18 month tie in but as I was on W&W before the Oct07 cut off I still get HSDPA. Tethering, media streaming, Push Email and Live Messenger all work on the basic W&W.
i got the phone for free on an 18 month flex35 with w+w after an upgrade. no reduction on my line rental (is still at £37.5), but free phone. isnt too bad. this was in january of this year.
free sounds good how did you manage it... how long was the contract
I got the same in november, free upgrade wnw+flext35 plus 3months free contract, u have to really barter and they have to be desperate to sell lol.
you have to know (and be able to quote) other tariff offers from the likes of o2 and orange (if they're better) it doesnt hurt to put a bit of pressure on them either, perhaps mention you're thinking of leaving. they want your continued custom so dropping a little it off isnt really that big of a deal to them.
ive heard as well that its best to try and call in the mornings, as there tends to be more slack for offers at the beginning of the day.

Wow!

How lucky am I today? I'm going to pick up a brand new HTC Diamond (T-Mobile Compact 4) for free.
Back in january I was told my upgrade for the Diamond would be £175.
I currently have the MDA Compact 3 (HTC P3300) which I still kinda favour over the diamond or any new phone mainly because of the roller ball and wheel which I've gotten used to. My P3300 has a rebooting problem during calls so I rang HTC support today and they said it could be serviced if it's still under the 2 year warranty. I found out my warranty expires on the 15th so that's lucky! So I needed a phone to use while it'll be at HTC in milton keynes and was just gonna go and buy some cheapo phone from argos. I rang T-Mobile and enquired on the current price of the Compact 4 (HTC Diamond) thinking it would still be about £175. They tell me it's discontinued and they're awaiting the diamond 2 (MDA compact 5). That would cost me about £80 but the compact 4 would be free but none in stock. So I rang a couple of T-Mobile shops and one shop has 1 in stock! So I'm going to pick it up now and it's free. \o/ Then I'll send my Compact 3 to HTC, and that will be free service too.
So, drinks are on the house. Order anything you like
Good stuff mate.
Just remember that you are entering into a new contract, most likely 18 months. Do try and negotiate a discount on your line rental, mobile companies are desperate for custom with the credit crunch!
Also, get them to chuck in web n walk for free if you can.
Actually, my nephew works for T-Mobile and I've had an employee call half price discount for years. So I pay £15 a month for web 'n walk and flex 25 package which is 5 hours free talk time (or £60 allowance). I never make enough calls to go over my 5 hours, or very very rarely. I told you I was lucky, lol.
Yep, I've always had an 18 month contract. I rang HTC again and they said if there are scratches or dents on the old phone they may not honour the warranty and mine has small dents in each corner. Actually, T mobile told me my warranty is 24 months, till 15th june, but HTC just told me that the manufacturers warranty is 27 months, giving me till 14th august. Anyway, I think a new battery from amazon.co.uk may solve my P3300 problems.
Ahhhhh yes. The old, and the new.

Is AT&T still replacing Kaiser for Kaiser?

I've had the pleasure of owning my Kaiser for 9 months now. I had to do a warranty exchange 4 months ago when my texts were doubled constantly. My phone bill was through the roof. I went in to the local store and they called ATT and set up an exchange. Another Kaiser came to my door a week later.
All has been well, until now. My SD card is losing files randomly. I have the stock AT&T Tilt ROM from this last exchange. I "LOVE" my Kaiser, but I'm jealous of the new guys on the block.
My local AT&T store didn't have a cluse of what I would receive with my first exchange and I've just witnessed him shrug his shoulders again when I just approached him with this new problem. I am still under my one year coverage. Does anyone know if the Kaiser is still a one-for-one exchange from AT&T? If not, what's the likely replacement?

You'll either get a fuze or a tilt 2 if your lucky. AT&T doesn't sell the kaiser anymore. And it may not be your phone that's the cause of the loss of files. It might be the card.
I had a contract that was up recently and I was wondering the same thing. So I went to my local corporate AT&T store and the fella there told me the few returns he saw were replaced with Tilts. He said "they" have a stockpile of Tilts to go through. So me, in an effort to save a buck, just upgraded my Tilt and got a $99 iPhone instead of claiming insurance and paying $125, or $150...whichever, the iPhone was cheaper and I kept my Tilt, which is a standalone GPS on my dash lol.
I knwo what you mean.
Mine just bit the dust and they said I would not get a kaiser line.
I decided to upgrade, but all the new smart phones they claim "require" a data plan that is $30 a month and would still be even if I got my old model.

Get an X1a or wait a while for X2?

Hey, Sorry to spam with a general question.
My current phone is on it's death bed (SE P900). I want to upgrade to an X1a (via rogers in canada) but i'm a little worried if I should or wait it out for an X2. I'm over all very keen on getting either an X1 or X2 (due to an actual keyboard and a stylus based touch screen, I just can't use an iphone touch screen at all, plus the OS pisses me off). I'm also looking to maybe do some xperia panel programming on the side (mostly making some small simple games with some simple use of 3d).
I think I could wait it out for an X2 but i'm worried it's going to be a long 6-8 months+ before it's available in canada. Not to mention I expect the price to be a little too high for a while. Yet if I get an X1a now, my wife is not going to let me upgrade again for another 2-3 years. =)
So should I wait or just go a head and get an X1 now?
if you want to wait i suggest you hold out for a snapdragon powered device that you prefer. If you dont want to wait just get the X1. The X1 and X2 share the same hardware apart from certain differences, so your not really losing anything hugely important
Not sure what price your getting from rogers, but i got my x1a just awile ago for $1 signing a 3 year contract so i pretty much had nothing to lose upgrading. I usually do a hardware upgrade every 1-2 years and sign a new contract with a better plan each time. I highly suggest talking with customer relations as only they can give you better deals than whats advertised.
How much is Rogers letting you upgrade the phone for? I think I'm getting ripped off through customer relations...
PsychoAssassin: When did you sign the 3 year contract? I did mine last week and it was absolutely nowhere near $1...
PsychoAssasin,
What is your current plan? I'm kind of happy with my plan that I got 6 years ago.

Back durring christmas, if you signed a 3 year contract they were giving away a X1 for only $1.
personally I would get x10 or the newer android models
as wm7 is likely to be closed land for other wm devices
and wm6.X is a dead platform
I renewed my contract and chose the $50/month plan with a couple of freebies on top. They're charging me $149 + $35 administration for the X1 with a $50 "hardware upgrade" mail-in rebate. The site says the phone is only $99 for a 3yr term, so what's the deal? Does the hardware upgrade rebate take off the $50 I was supposed to be saving to begin with? Something doesn't sound right, but the lady I spoke to told me that was the price that was showing up for her. I'm defnitely going to call back to see if there's anything I can do, since I like this phone. I'm still under the 15 days grace period.
PSmonkey64: How much are they charging you for the X1? I definitely want to get a better price for mine.
hardware upgrade prices can and will most often differ from new contract prices. But recently Rogers has changed their hardware upgrade policy to now say that all clients are eligible for new customer pricing after 2 years. So Rydock if it has been 2 years you are eligible to get the X1a for $99 + $35 admin fee. On top of that you can use the $50 mail in rebate to effectively bring the cost down to $49.99 + $35 admin fee. This policy doesnt apply to corporate customers, which is why I had to pay about $300 (without signing up for data) for it about 2 months after it came out on the rogers network
regarding the grace period, remember its 15 days or 30 mins of talktime whichever comes first.
PSmonkey64,
if you are dead set on getting a sony ericsson Xperia, Rogers will be getting the X10 in Q2. If you were to wait for an xperia let that be the model of choice
Yeah, I've been with Rogers for over 3 years, and they were asking for $149. I'll give them a call tomorrow to sort this out.
I haven't put my sim in the X1 yet because I've just been playing around with it to see if I liked it. I've decided to keep it, so I'm just trying to figure a way to get all my contacts from my razr to my X1. Also, I want to use the new sim since my old card is all beat up and scratched. How do I go about doing this, or do I have to call Rogers?
To the OP, sorry for the thread hijack. I'd say the X1 would be totally worth it because of the low price and supposed slightly stronger units. Also, there is tons of support here.

yea the rogers xperia has a slightly new build which helps prevent cracks, but i did manage to develop one right beside the power bottom, but i would blame myself from the numerous times i dropped it.
your best bet for contact transfer would be to use the moto software to sync contacts with outlook and then sync your x1 with outlook.
for the sim card, call rogers, they will/will not deal with it as im not sure on their policy towards that.

Hmm, why so negative?
I just feel that as it is looking right now
android is a safer bet then wm
wm7 seem to be more a evolution of zuneHD then old wm
and don't think the classic app store from ms will improve too much with more focus being put on wm7

Well, I kind of disagree on that...
I mean we can only guess but I don't imagine
WM beeing really not open in some way and competitive.
My feeling is that MS will drastically cut the price of WM 6.X to manufacturers, so that there will continue to be a big base. I think we'll continue to see no-frills but nice hardware phones like the LG Expo start to come in at the $400 price range and below. The WP 7 phones will get all the press and be the headline phones for the carriers and cost $600-$800 unsubsidized. I think MS will just gradually improve the finger friendliness and look of WM 6.X with a few more releases. As processors and hardware improve, it should become a fast and lightweight OS. Not a bad outlook, in my opinion.
Well just to note an update.
I end up coughing up the extra $$$ (and convincing the wife) and buying an X2. The reason being I saw one on ebay being sold by a person only 10 mins away that was barely used.
So far i'm loving it. I do have a question for anybody who might know, How do I get the X2 to auto connect to my home's wifi when i'm home? Messing/configuring the phone i've had to restart it a few times and every time it starts with wifi turned off.
Now to figure out how the hell to setup the xperia sdk (the emu isn't properly running, also it seems I can't debug opengl ES with it?).
take a Toshiba TG01. it's much cheaper.
Both X1 and X2 use legacy CPU... I think you may consider other alternatives...
Too... late.
If only people would read newer post.
=/

so how much of an idiot am i, ..am i?

Ok, so need your thoughts...
i currently have a contract with vodefone, that will continue till may next year 2012. costs me £35 a month with that i get
my htc desire - Free
900 Mins
unlimited texts
1GB internet
thats all great and WAS very happy with it.....
vodafone rang me today and said as im such a loyal customer etc etc etc..
they offered me and ADDITIONAL line
a FREE htc desire HD
900 mins
unlimited texts
1gb internet
obviously with my current contract i dont really need the additional mins texts or net. but a free htc desire... i thought wow, but said no, untill guy have me a free bluetooth headset. now i no nobody uses the headsets unless your a taxi driver, but i kinda thought.. 30 extra a month, sure why not.
so i said yes, and the plan is to get the htc desire hd, sell my standard desire. put the extra sim on the shelf (never use) and just carry on
now i had a chance to think about it, kinda sinking in that i been stupid, and tomorrow morning im going to call vodafone and cancel it.
is £65 a month worth it for htc desire hd 900 mins, unlimited texts and 1gb internet......
prehaps not.........is it?
(yes im expecting lots of "your a dumb ass" comments, but reason for my post, is to first see what you all think, but also to let people know my experiance incase vodafone (or other mobile provider) comes a calling)
Couldn't you easily buy a Desire HD for the extra £30 per month?
Well, a little too obsessed with HTC phones, maybe but HTC stock holders needs money too.
If the phone is unlocked and you can afford two contracts, then see it as a present to yourself and before the end of 2011 new fancy HTC phones have appeared that will need your spare SIM and contract.
Is the data amount/month in the UK average 1GB?
Paying about the same as you for a contract with Halebop in Sweden, got 10GB/month but no free SMS
and an unlocked SE J20i Hazel. Using the Halebop plan in the X10 Mini and the Hazel "temporary out of commission". Having a third phone, an Ericsson T28 with Pre paid.
Got a phone obssesion too.
Why not.just.multiply the 35 by.the number of months of contract, then compare that to an unlocked Desire?
If it comes out close to that, Id take it since you're getting extra minutes and data as well. (You could use all data on one and then use other right)
