Annoying browser issue, please help... - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i go to a website that i can go to on my MyTouch and my wife's G1 but when i go to it on my nexus, i get:
"uPortal error:
sorry, but uPortal encountered an error that is preventing it from rendering. The error must be corrected by system administrators. Try again later"
I can go to www.gateway.stmarytx.edu but when i try to sign in i get the error.
the worst part is that when i first got the nexus the website worked, then it stopped and now i get the error message. Ive cleared the browser cache. I havent deleted browser data because i dont want to lose my saved bookmarks. but i will if thats what it takes.
Anyone know what that error means? thanks for any help

could be a problem on their end, not yours.

Try downloading Dolphin Browser, then change the user client to something else and see if that works. Otherwise, Google it.

I can finally access my school's student website with new opera browser!!! So i have a follow up question...
First of all, I used to access the school's student website with my g1 and then with my mytouch without problem. But i get uportal error on the nexus stock browser, and on dolphin, and on some other popular browser that people suggested.
So is there any way to determine how to get the stock browser to avoid the uportal error knowing that opera can access it, ive got a thing against having two apps that do the same thing but ill keep opera if its the only way...thanks for any help

I've got the same problem with my HTC Evo and www.njit.edu
Annoying!

[Q] Reinstalling the market update

So I had a few apps get the infinite Installing Android Market bug thanks to a wireless router dying at a bad time. The only thing that worked short of doing a factory reset was to uninstall the market update.
So my question is how do I get the Market update to reinstall?
Thanks
(Not rooted, stock ROM)
Uninstall application, then reinstall. Just a hunch.

Were it only so simple. The 2.2 market enchancements were a silent upgrade, so there's no market link. And beyond that, the Market no long appears up on the manage Applications list in the system settings.
I've been having the same issues as well, very frustrating! I've been searching here and good ol' google on how to get that update back...to no avail yet.
Did you ever get any success?
Pulled this. See if it works for you.
Thanks
Trying to side load it now, but I can't seem to get droid explorer to work. sigh.....
It connects to the phone fine, but then when I go to install the package, it gives me a new window that wants to install something. I don't really remember that window coming up in the past, but to be honest it's been quite awhile since I've used droidexplorer... So I click isntall, and the program immediately crashes.
So, I put the file on my web server, and downloaded it from there. (Got some annoying lovely messages about the phone being out of space until I cleared the browser download list....) It downloaded fine, but when I go to install it, I get "Parse Error There is a problem parsing the package."
On an odd hunch, I started poking around the file structure in DroidExplorer, and was able to pull my own MarketUpdater.apk out and save it to the computer. So I threw that on the webserver, and was able to download it fine, AND re-install it. No idea if that will actually DO anything, but hey, figured it was worth a shot.
So now that I've waited 15 minutes after reinstalling the marketupdater.apk, (big surprise) nothing's changed.
EDIT:
Went to grab a sandwich for lunch, and decided to pop into the ATT store since it was right next to where I was eating. Asked one of the reps that I have a pretty good relationship with about the issue, and he said a customer came in not too long ago with the same issue, and the only resolution was a system wipe. Hopefully we can get around it...Of course, if not, and I do have to do a wipe, I'll just upgrade to 2.2....

did it to me also the first time, until I applied the fix. Check my post below yours in the Q&A thread.
Yeah i looked at your post I dont have any problems downloading from the new online market but I was seeing some inconsistencies in what the online market though I had installed and what was really installed, like it had some apps I had installed from my G1 days which have never been installed on my nexus one. I will try this though when I get home and see if it changes anything I cant imagine it would as my problem is with the browser and certificate keys. anythings worth a try now.
Solved online market issues
I have found out a fix for chrome did not look into fixes for IE and FF although I believe you can make the same changes in those browsers as well. I had to disable SSL al together and use TLS and walla no more certificate errors. If any one is still experiencing these problems try this?

HC: Can't register with Google?

I'm seeing people getting the Market and installing gmail, apps, etc. However, when I try to launch the Market and sign into Google, all I get is that it cannot communicate with Google's servers.
What's the deal here? What am I doing wrong?
It literally sits there trying to authenticate with google for about 5 minutes and then just fails. I can open the browser and go to websites, so it's not the wifi connection. Any ideas?
I am not sure why it is not working for you, but a few things to try that might help:
*browse to Google and sign into Gmail first, then go to the Market
*browse to the new android market where all your previous downloads are and try to push and App through from there (set up your NC as a device if you haven't already or do so from your PC)
Basically.....try to go anywhere where you can log into your google account and then maybe when you can get to the Market.
have you actually installed the Market, pushed it via adb, or what?

I am getting the same issue. Did you resolve this yet?
I was in the middle of posting how I had the same issue, but then it got fixed....I went into the GMail app, tried to sign in, typed in the wrong PW, it said I put in the wrong PW, tryed to sign in again, and it actually signed in. Market works now too.
Maybe it was just a fluke, but try putting in the wrong login info first. :\
I have the same problem as well have installed gmail and market with adb but cant sign into either of them google tells me it cant establish a reliable data connection running HC version 4
try signing in with youtube like we always had to?
I'm in the same boat. I'm not sure if this thread is even live anymore, but maybe. So , any word on what to do here?

I have a same problem and no solution. Ive found other issues with the stock browser, like the site www.sprintusers.com/forum doesnt display correctly, all little image icons dont work. At the moment, what I have to do for both problems is use another browser like Dolphin or Opera.
I'm pretty sure there's been a lot of complaints about the browser... Its OK for most things but there is better out there...
Yes, but the problem doesnt happen on a Gtab running Froyo. Only when upgraded to Overcome GB.

[Q] Browser not working on 3G, but FB/Market/Other work

I recently installed MIUI v 1.9.30, and despite my previous experiences with MIUI I really like this one, despite one thing.
I've found that while on 3G (Bell Mobility Canada), I can download from the Market and browse Facebook, but I cannot use the browser (Charming Browser). When attempting to load Google, for example, the loading bar will progress about 10% and then stop there.....
Funny thing is, when using Dolphin Browser the same thing occurs, and it gives a webpage cannot be displayed error. I've tried looking in both browser settings but I can't figure it out, because they work fine on WIFI.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Clear cookies and other browsing history and then retry bud

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it didn't help =/
I went as fat as trying a factory reset and the problem still occurred. I posted asking for help on the miui website but haven't gotten any response yet.
