Orange UK Branded Jade Flashing Guide - Touch 3G ROM Development

As Promised:
1) Download the latest Hard-SPL package (currently v5.20) from here and extract to an empty folder.
2) You must have your phone synced with your PC.
XP users need Activesync from here: here
Vista/Windows 7 users need Windows Mobile Device Centre from here: here
3) NEW: internet access is required as the program checks online for updates and license.
4) Run Jade-Hard-SPL.EXE on your PC. Make sure it's launched from a local drive, not a network drive.
If you using Vista/Windows 7, launching as Administrator is strongly recommended, on XP administrator login is required.
Important: if your AV (norton/symantec mainly) warns about a virus, ignore it, it just doesn't like the packer I used to pack the program. Disabling your AV is strongly recommended.
5) If possible, always use Automatic flash mode (for instructions on how to use the Manual mode, see troubleshooting advice here). You may get a message stating this is not for your device, click yes and allow the screen to go blank.
6) It will ask you to wait while it prepares for the flashing, press OK. Follow the steps in the program and then in the RUU.
8) Device should go to a tricolour screen now that says 1.40.1000 (not .0000!!!), this is the SSPL version, which is temporary. When your phone goes to the bootloader screen for the first time, quickly unplug the USB cable, then reconnect it. Wait around 30 seconds and click Next on your PC.
9) SPLwill now flash, device automatically reboots, job done.
10)Tto confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and the screen will show 2.32.OliNex, which is the Hard-SPL version. If it is 1.64.xxx instead, then please make sure you actually download last version (v5.20) and flash using that. 2.32.OliNex is the correct Hard-SPL version.
These instructions SHOULD work first time every time.
Instructions copied from OliNex, tidied up by me. USB disconnect/reconnect trick discovered by zannyuk and found here.
I recommend lsc's WM6.5 ROM (here) for WM 6.5 only and Ironeagle's Jade Overloaded (here) for all the trimmings.
PM me with any errors or corrections. And feel free to comment

Has anyone used this yet? Can you let me know?

i've used it and it works pefectly no more rubbish orange roms.

Jade Flashing Guide
Hi,
When trying to following these instructions, I cannot get past instr 6) as at that point I get the error:
"hard- spl is for non-commercial purpose only,we have detected that you appear to alreadyhvae unlocked a device, if you wish to unlock commercially"
The phone does not go into the bootloader mode (tricolor screen), the program terminates at this point, please advise how to overcome this and successfully apply the Hard SPL v5.2
Thanks

Look under the Hard SPL stickie to resolve this one.

Please can you point HSPL Stickie as I tried to find this information and was unable to. Your help is greatly appreicated.

go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=483465.
You should be able to find the answer.

P3600i Flashing Tutorial

OK first of all I've put this together hastily so forgive me for slight errors, but most of this should be fine.
To flash your P3600i, there are 3 things that should concern you: HardSPL, the Radio, and the ROM.
HardSPL: something that allows you to run unsigned code on your phone (e.g. ROMs), and also provides protection in case it screws up. This is the first thing you do. (This is probably a **** explanation, but functional at least?)
Radio: I guess more like a mini feature set, I know there was something similar when I had a Motorola phone which was called a flex. In this case it's not a whole new operating system, but perhaps easily thought of as small tweaks made to improve the system without necessitating a whole ROM flash. Why have a radio when a ROM could take care of everything? Well the advantage of a radio is that you can flash these without resetting everything. Everything (contacts, etc.) remain intact.
ROM: What you're really after, WM6.1 and the lovely cooked ROMs that should soon be available for flashing. This will wipe everything on your phone, so back your stuff up (contacts, settings, owner info, messages, etc.).
Flashing procedure:
IF YOU HAVE VISTA: You need to update your drivers. Go here for instructions. You can then proceed with the procedure as per normal.
The basic procedure is this. Flash HardSPL first, then update your Radio, then finally, your ROM.
Note: The HardSPL you use is a modified one especially for the P3600i. Get it here.
Note2: Here is a mirror for the latest Radio for the P3600i. From following the guides, you will know when to use it. Get it here. (N.B. Radio link updated to v1.56.70.11 - 2 Aug 2008)
Go to the trinityguides.info guide (link here) and go through the procedure - and yes, I know the link points to page 2 of the guide.
NOTE WHEN FLASHING HARDSPL, IT WON'T WORK THE FIRST TIME - YOU WILL GET AN ERROR (CODE 260) LOLOL. THIS IS EXPECTED.
This is what happens.
You go to flash HardSPL like the guide says. LOOK AT THE SCREEN ON YOUR PHONE, YOU MIGHT HAVE SECURITY PERMISSIONS AND NEED TO MANUALLY ALLOW THE PROGRAMS TO RUN.
It looks like it's about to flash and then errors. BUT your phone is on the 3-colour bootloader screen! How odd. Well KEEP YOUR PHONE ON THE BOOTLOADER SCREEN, and unplug it from your computer. Exit the HardSPL program, RUN IT AGAIN, and FLASH THE PHONE AGAIN WITH HARDSPL (obviously connect your phone and stuff back to your PC).
The point here is this: the first time it will fail, but at least manage to get the bootloader up. With this bootloader up, exit the flashing program, restart it, and then you should be able to run the flashing program and have it complete.
DOUBLE CHECK YOUR PHONE HAS THE OLIPRO HARDSPL INSTALLED after completion, by soft-resetting (hold the power and camera buttons at the same time AND use the stylus to press the putton at the bottom of the phone. You might not get it the first time, but with practice you'll get the hang of it).
Once you can see 3.20 Olipro (yes, 3.20) on the bootloader screen, you know you have HardSPL on fine, and can proceed to the trinityguides.info instructions on flashing your radio and ROM. ROMs can be found in the P3600i ROM Collection thread, here.
Hopefully this should answer a lot of questions people have
Hihi,
Because I am using Vista PC, can I use PC to flash the hardspl and use SD card to flash OS and radio??

Simple answer is no. You should be able to flash Hard SPL from Vista if you follow the Trinitty guides to change the USB drivers to the XP ones.....PLEASE read the TRINITY GUIDES as stated above.
about the vista problem ... take a look: http://trinityguides.info/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=20&Itemid=66
should i download the hard spl from here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398742
and what radio should i put? be specific...
Thanks
whatever radio you feel like, jesus, the level of stupidity just gets worse.
of course, if you're totally ****ing incapable of independent thought, we can spoonfeed you some arbitrary radio version.
Thanks for your attitude! I just want to do somethink that work... And my question is not for the fun! I saw in the guide that in the link (to trinityguide) and in the first page its didnt writen that is compatible with p3600i. So i ask before i make damage to my device.
I am working in computer companies for 5 years but its my first time flashing ppc so i want to be sure what to do before that I will make any damage.
And belive me that anyone that will gets some help in the first flash will help in the future to the forum.

OK...you do not have to flash ANY radio if you don't want to.
The Tinity Guide was written well before this device was cracked so it is not up to day with regard to the P3600i.
If you follow the instructions at the top of the page you should be fine.
Chose whatever radio you want to use....then pick one of the ROM's that are known to work and away you go.
I just flashed the MARY 3.7 SL and before I started loading up my customisations my Program memory was 34 meg. Even now after laoding everything I have 22.62 Meg Program memory and 178.88 Sorage memory (and everything is loaded on the device too).
So far all is good on this one.
PS Don't take Olipro's comments to heart....if you read his tag...he abuses everyone....lol

Use the Hard SPL from the link...that is THE only one that works.
Radio 1.46.30 was the standard Radio and I now have 1.50.08.11
Check out the radios etc here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1951469&postcount=3
and choose the one that suits.

great to hear. the rom seems to be fairly stable, and its nice and quick. which for me personally is what i want in a phone
one thing i should mention to people as well running vista to do this is that for every part of flashing the phone, vista may attempt and succeed in "installing device drivers" which in turn means you need to point it to the vista-compatible drivers for it to work (as per the guide) every time to progress to the next part, otherwise a 260 keeps occuring.
Thank you for your wonderful and useful guide!
Thank you!
200% hype abt flashing! Finally!
Hey folks I need a little help
I've downloaded:
- Mary 3.7 Lite, Mary 3.7.1 and PDAVIET 37
- Olipro 130, Olipro 120 and Des Crash Proof
I've tried hard to mix all possibilities like Olipro 130 and Mary 3.7, Olipro 130 and Mary 3.7.1 and etc
After several tries i was kinda desperate since none worked then after testing Mary 3.7.1 and Des Crash Proof, TADA! Worked!
Well, the point here is understanding why I couldnt make the other ROMs work.
Could you please help me understading why?
Also I have another question, when a ROM was bad installed, in these cases above the 0% stats were freeze in the PDA while I had a bad connection problem showing in computer ( error 246 i think ) so the PDA was stuck in the bootloader mode =( And I just could enter my old WM6 by upgrading the radio. Is there another way to do it? I was pretty disappointed upgrading the Radio so many times. LOL

If you have a P3600i then according to the info you have above....you downloaded the WRONG Hard SPL.
Go back to the very first post on this thread and read it carefully. There is a link there to the correct Hard SPL from Olipro...and it isn't 130, 120 or Des Crash Proof.
genipao, it was rather surprise you had picked the wrong hard spl and doing some mix and match and it still work?
All experts,
please render help to me for my CHT9110 (P3600i - IPL-Trin100, SPL-3.03.0000, CPU-Samsung 500Mhz, NAND-256MB) that I flashed successfully with hardSPL 3.10 Oplira. this is working and wonderful SPL with the JumpSPL included. Good job done by Oplira!
However when I tried to upgrade P3600i from WM6.0 to WM6.1, I missed the step to tag 401 from 400 when I re-build New_NBH.file for my phone. At a result, I encounterd WM6.1 ROM flashing incomplete at 80% and forced to reset due to hang-up...
Now, my P3600i still can boot up to flash-screen logo, loading radio image (1.56.70.11) and then protocal services (32.89.7020.20H), then it will hand-up forever on flash screen logo.... (until i did the hard reset, then it will re-boot! terrible now!!)
i suspected it was unable to locate the WM6.1 and loading up accordingly....
I tried out many option, to downgrade SPL 1.1, SPL1.2, SPL 2.1 and used SPLxploit to clear the stack in bootloader... all is falied and my bootloader still shown SPL-3.03.0000 and don't allow to re-flash any ROM under bootloader mode now!!
Experts! please assist me,
How can I roll-back the default OS on phone if any? or there is alternative way to recover OS to flash in for recovery? I think firstly we need to crack SPL-3.03.000 in bootloader mode...
Many thanks!
Hi klemtest,
can you guide me on flashing CHT9110?
I couldnt seems to get it flash even after following the instruction.
Appreciate your help
i just followed Ajajaj Quoted, please allow me to share...
Step 1 - Anyway First of all, load the Hard SPL to your phone from : Set
<Klemtest>
Step 1.1 - go and download Hard-SPL-p3600i-V1.1.zip (810.6 KB, 438 views)
Step 1.2 - extract SPL-p3600i-V1.1.zip file onto your local drive
Step 1.3 - connect P3600i via USB, ensure you are under ACTIVESYNC mode in WindowXP (if you use Windows Vista, the you need Vista driver for detecting HTC phone at USB)
Step 1.4 - execute the ROMupdateutility from SPL-p3600i-v1.1 folder, ensure there is RUU_signed.nbh file available, otherwise the utility will prompt u for read file error.
Step 1.5 - once it executed, follows the instruction given from ROMupdateutility screen, until you see the progress bar show up, meanwhile u will notice that p3600i phone will prompt you for ROM upgrading message, click "Yes" to accept and proceed. Sequence pop-up message will be asked again in p3600i for using JumpSPL.exe to unlock CID,
Again click "Yes" to accept and proceed. ROMUpdateutility will complete 100% and your p3600i display will be turned to SPL-3.10 Oplira in bootloader mode now (if the ROMupdateUtility indicated there is update error, just ignore it and exit utility screen)
don't switch off your p3600i, let it continue showing SPL-3.10 Oplira in bootloader display.
Dude! you're now ready for step2 to flashing your favor WM6.0 / WM6.1 once you manage the "nbh" file which I didn't done it properly!!
So, I assumed you have downloaded the working ROM and extract them in local folder as stated in Step-2
Step 2 - So, what I did was to download RUU_TRINITY_WM6.1_WWE_ASIA_3.12.YK.Lite extract into its own folder (Mary seems to work as well)
Due to p3600i is manufactured with 256 NAND, memory address for storing "OS.nb" slightly difference compared to p3600 (CHT9100) with 128 MB RAM.
Hence, ajajaj advice to use ROMBaker.exe to exract "XX_OS.nb" your favor OS ROM (usually named as RUU_signed.nbh) that you downloaded and re-build it using NBHGEN.exe.
All this stuff is available here Custom RUU tools
In this case, 2 screens captured below showing u how to distingish it
(for wrong re-build of OS.nb at 400)
C:> NBHGEN.exe new_nbh.txt
TRIN100
SuperCID
Klemtest
XDADevelopers
100,00_IPL.nb
600,02_MainSplash.nb
601,03_SubSplash.nb
900,04_ExtROM.nb
300,05_GSM.nb
400,06_OS.nb
(for correct re-build of OS.nb at 401)
C:> NBHGEN.exe correct_nbh.txt
TRIN100
SuperCID
Klemtest
XDADevelopers
100,00_IPL.nb
600,02_MainSplash.nb
601,03_SubSplash.nb
900,04_ExtROM.nb
300,05_GSM.nb
401,06_OS.nb
you can follow the step below until step9 if you're not familar of using custom RUU tools:
Step 3 - then download the custom ruu updated from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295113 - also get the rombaker for trinity as found further down in the post.
Step 4 - unzip the custom_ruu stuff, put in the downloaded trinity rombaker to replace extracted rombaker,
Step 4a - Copy ruu_signed.nbh file that is found in folder created in Step 2 to the rombaker/workshop folder created in step 4
Step 5 - then use nbhextract (created in step 4) to extract the ruu_signed.nbh file that is now in the workshop folder
Step 6 - watch the output. (for file names)
Step 7 - Run the rombaker program and load the extracted files into their places (as referred to in step 6), then click generate NBH
It will ask you to save a file. call it new_nbh (or whatever you want) -
Step 8 - open this file (created in step 7) in notepad, and change the number 400 (about 5 lines down) to 401 save and exit
Step 9 - then open a dos/cmd/command.com window (whatever you want to call it), cd to the rombaker/workshop folder and then run the following:
nbhgen new_nbh.txt
NOTE: new_nbh.txt should be the same as the filename created in step 7
copy the generated RUU_signed.nbh file back to the RUU_TRINITY_WM6.1_WWE_ASIA_3.12.YK.Lite folder.
Your p3600i rom is now ready for flashing
<Klemtest>
Step-10 - after you have managed to get re-build RUU_Signed.nbh file by yourself. you can proceed last stage for completion.
As I mentioned, you continue keep your bootloader screen at SPL-3.10 Oplira just now. launch again RUUupdateutility.exe
Note: At this point, your personal data from the phone will be destroy, please make sure you back-up all data before regret and ensure ActiveSync is disable during execution the flashing.
Screen1 - On the Welcome Screen, click Next to begin the ROM update installation.
Screen2 - On the next screen, follow the listed instructions in the dialog box first. When you are done, click Next to proceed.
Note: Ignore the instructions listed due to you are flashing via bootloader mode, and ActiveSync is disable.
Screen3 - The following message will then be displayed, indicating that the utility is verifying and acquiring information about the device as preparation for the update process. Wait for this verification process to finish.
Screen4 - Below the device information, information about the new ROM update will then be displayed. If you are certain that you want to install the phone with the new ROM update, click Next to proceed.
Screen5 - confirmation message then appears and shows the length of time it will take to copy the necessary files (including radio image) to the device. Click Next to begin the update.
Screen6 - A progress bar will run through the screen during the update process.
Note: In the middle of the update process, the progress bar may stop running. This is normal as the RUU is adjusting itself to complete the update process automatically. (probably will take up 10 minutes)
6. When you see the screen shown CONGRATULATION message! means update is complete. Click Finish to exit the utility. Otherwise, you will have trouble now to troubleshoot per below steps!
GOOD LUCK and happy computing!

Jade / Touch 3G Hard-SPL Unlocker

well, Hard-SPL is released now! sorry for delay, this was ready last week, but I did not have a chance to get to my PC much.
NOTE: This is NOT a SIM unlocker - it also doesn't unlock Security for other radios. if you need that, GO HERE
Donations are always appreciated to the big link in our signature ("elite project"). You can also donate via the link offered in the new Hard-SPL program. Thank you!!
EDIT: ATTENTION - I removed the V3 version, everyone who flashes new version (2.32.OliNex) on 1.40 stock ROM, should simply upgrade to a new 2.xx ROM afterwards.
also, new version of HSPL package (V5.2) is here which has some of the issues fixed.
Preparations:
first an important note, if you want to flash more than one Jade, contact cmonex for additional licenses via http://support.htc-unlocks.com. (the first license is transparently granted and free, so normal users do not need to worry.)
0) this package is for Jade (Touch 3G) devices. for JADE100 so far (SSPL loader checks this and gives a warning), apparently JADE110 is also ok, but if your ModelID is different, contact us for testing!! we will happily help. contact by posting in this thread or by PM'ing cmonex. do not PM OliNex user, that is not monitored frequently. until then, JADE110 etc is also accepted if you click "yes" to continue but it's your own risk to take.
1) if you have vista, WMDC update is recommended: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx
Instructions:
read this if unsure how to install Hard-SPL...
1) download latest Hard-SPL package (currently v5.20) from attachment, extract to an empty folder.
2) you must Have Phone Synced with PC in Windows Mobile!!!
3) NEW: internet access is required as the program checks online for updates and license.
4) run Jade-Hard-SPL EXE on PC, make sure it's launched from a local drive (not through network drive, etc.). if you are on vista, launching as Administrator is strongly recommended, on XP administrator login is required. important: if your AV (norton/symantec mainly) warns about a virus, ignore it, it just doesn't like the packer I used to pack the program.
5) if possible, always use Automatic flash mode (for uses of Manual mode, see troubleshooting section)
6) it will ask you to wait while it prepares for the flashing, press OK. follow steps in the program and then in the RUU.
7) some notes: it should go through without any error messages, if one does pop up, then please follow the instructions included in the error text. if no specific instruction is shown, then ask for help in the thread, but this should not ever occur (as this means a really fatal error occurred).
more notes: when RUU says it will hard reset, do not worry, it is not going to do that. also when it says the flash will take 10 minutes, ignore that, it will only take a minute or so.
8) device should go to a tricolour screen now that says 1.40.1000 (not .0000!!!), this is the SSPL version, which is temporary.
9) SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
10) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 2.32.OliNex, which is the Hard-SPL version.
if it is 1.64.xxx instead then please make sure you actually download last version (v520) and flash using that. 2.32.OliNex is the correct Hard-SPL version.
NOTE: you will not see the SPL version during normal boot, that is the OS version, not SPL!
to enter SPL to check version, fully power the device off by long press of power key, then power on while holding the "volume down" key on the left side of the device. keep holding the volume down key until you see tricolour screen which is the bootloader mode, then release it.
NOTE 2: this is unsigned Hard-SPL. no limitations on flashing ROMs or radio packages. also, this has overwrite protection against HTC RUU's overwriting HSPL with a stock one, so if someone needs to revert to stock SPL for warranty reasons, a stock SPL downgrade package will soon be posted in this post as well. use this relocker *only* if you need to return the phone for warranty, and only use it as last step - after reflashing stock OS and radio. see steps at the end of this post about how to reflash stock SPL.
NOTE 3: do not use this RUU for anything other than SPL flashing (i.e. hardspl or stock spl restore)!!! nothing other than SPL's made by Olinex team (using OliNex custom cert, which is not public) will flash to make SSPL more secure. if you want to flash some other rom, then use shipped RUU or customRUU if you need to flash cooked ROM.
Troubleshooting:
- read the instructions above.
- read the instructions above.
- read the instructions above.
Manual flash mode for USB issues: you should usually go for Automatic flash mode; you must only attempt the Manual mode option if Automatic flash mode or SSPL-Manual.exe already put device in SSPL tricolour screen and you got USB issues. any other errors triggered while running in Autoflash mode will have to be fixed as instructed in the error message.
ModelID checking:
- if SSPL loader says it's for a different device, please contact cmonex in PM for testing SPL on that too. check modelid by entering SPL tricolour screen manually and note what it says (JADE100, or something else).
nothing happens on the device, does not enter tricolour screen mode:
- anyone having problems with the device entering SSPL automatically, please make sure you watch the device screen if it asks about running files. also try unchecking advanced usb functionality in settings.
- if it crashes instead of entering SSPL, you need to use Automatic mode.
general usb connection error problems if you get connection error in RUU after the device goes to 1.40.1000 screen:
- try manual SSPL: copy SSPL-Manual-Jade exe to the device and run it, then when it went to 1.40.1000 tricolour screen and shows "USB" at the bottom in this screen, use Manual option in the Hard-SPL program on the PC.
- make sure device was still synced via USB to the PC at the point of it entering SSPL (the 1.40.1000 screen)!
- try a different USB port
- try different USB cable
- do not touch USB cable during the process especially if it is already a bit dodgy
- also do not use USB hub
- you can also try rebooting your PC
- and you can try using another PC.
- also you can try unticking advanced network functionality in start menu / settings / connections / usbtopc applet.
- another reason for USB connection error: if your PC takes too long to load the drivers (if your device is in bootloader for the first time and perhaps if you are on vista), then if RUU times out, but device still says "USB" on the tricolour screen, just leave it there and re-run the RUU when driver installation finishes.
- finally, you can try disabling antivirus or firewall programs on the PC.
other issues:
- if Enterbootloader.exe fails to run (says missing component or similar), try a hard reset of the device.
- if device reboots instead of going to SSPL screen (1.40.1000), contact us by PM'ing cmonex. do not PM OliNex user, that is not monitored frequently.
How to reflash Stock/Shipped SPL - STEP BY STEP - FOR WARRANTY REASONS ONLY!:
0. please make sure you already flashed stock ROM and radio, because stock SPL flash is *always* the last step before sending the device in.
+1. WARNING!!! do not flash 1.40 STOCK SPL on a 2.xx ROM!!!!
1. take the SPL relocker attachment, and run the EXE - this will flash 2.32.0000 stock SPL. simple as that!
(or if you want to manually pick an SPL version, then take a stock spl attachment (1.40 or 2.32), extract file and put it in customruu folder or any other ruu package and make sure you overwrite any existing RUU_Signed.NBH and delete any other *.NBH files in this folder)
3. flash
4. verify if it flashed by checking version in tricolour screen, it should say 1.40.0000 or 2.32.0000. if 1.40, then stock ROM must be 1.40.xx too, if 2.32, then must be 2.32.xx.

Hi all,
The need of Server connection does not give me any confident.
Is there anyone having heard about such necessity during Hard Spl operation?
I think, it should be explained for the satisfaction of Jade owners.
Many thanx Olinex team... But unfortunately it seems that there is a problem with Jade-Hard-SPL_V1.exe
When I try to run it, it shows nothing...
For no_more_sm
If you are running windows vista, right click on the archive and then "run as administrator", the archive run properly but doesn´t work

Anyway, I don't like the fact that we have to connect to the internet to do it, and I will not do it (given also that nobody reported having succeeded!)

Hard-SPL Unlocker for Rhodium (AT&T Tilt 2) Released and Updated! New FAQ added!

*****Hard-SPL Release Time!!!!*****
NOTE: This is *NOT* a SIM UNLOCKER, nor does it security unlock for
other radios. If you need that, GO HERE
This Hard-SPL unlocker will allow you to install a custom Rom cooked by the many fine chef's here on XDA.
*IF YOU ARE ON SPRINT, VERIZON, TELUS, OR ANOTHER CDMA CARRIER, DO NOT
USE THIS TOOL. THIS TOOL IS FOR GSM ONLY. FOR CDMA GO HERE.
People with a CDMA device trying to run this GSM tool will get a sync
error, because the package is not compatible.*
Please read the FAQ page if you do not understand what a Hard-SPL is

*Important:* Each user gets 1 license. You may get 2-3 on request if
needed and if you have replaced your device after a warranty issue. The licenses are valid forever, and all this works as
transparently as possible, so it won't be a problem. Businesses who need
to unlock more devices than that, can purchase it.

*Preparations*
* This tool is for Rhodium (Touch Pro 2).
* If you have Vista or Windows 7, WMDC update to at least version
6.1 -> http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx
***First: Beware that your Anti-Virus protection ***may Cause a issue with the downloading process and installation of this Hard-SPL***
If it does , disable it, then proceed with the download and installation of the Hard-SPL, Again This Hard-SPL download is not a Virus...
Next insure you have at least 50% battery left and also disable your screen saver...DO NOT RUN any other programs while this operation is Running.
*Instructions*
* Download Hard-SPL tool from the attached file below
* Extract it to an empty folder.
* Connect the device to the PC with a USB cable.*** Do not Disconnect !!!
* Sync the device with WMDC or ActiveSync.
* Make sure the cellular radio is on with a data connection, because
Internet access is required as the program checks online for
updates and the license.
* Run Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3.exe on the PC. It must be launched
from a local drive, not a network location. XP requires
Administrator privileges. Vista/Windows 7 should automatically
prompt you to allow it to run in Administrator mode. Allow it to
do so. If it doesn't, right click and select "Run as
Administrator.
" If you get an anti-virus warning, please ignore
it. It contains no harmful code. This false positive is due to a
packer being used to compress it.
* Follow steps as prompted in the Hard-SPL program.
If this is the first run of Hard-SPL on a device after hard reset, you should
select Automatic flash mode (the first button in Welcome screen).
* It will ask you to wait while it prepares for the flashing; press OK.
* Now it should go through without any error messages, if one does
pop up, then please follow the instructions included in the error
text. If no specific instruction is shown, then ask for help in
the thread, but this should not ever occur as this means a fatal
error occurred.
* At this point the device did hopefully went to a black screen
reporting version as 1.10.C-SSPL only using "info 7" in mtty, this
is the SSPL version, which is temporary. The RUU will then
instantly launch.
* SPL will now flash. The device will automatically reboot. Job done.
* To confirm you have installed properly, go into bootloader mode
(Reset the device while holding the volume down button), and
verify the screen shows 0.85.OliNex, which is the Hard-SPL version.
*Side-notes:*
* You should generally go for Automatic flash mode. The Manual flash
option is only to be used as noted below. You must only attempt
the Manual mode option if Automatic flash mode or SSPL-Manual.exe
already put device in black screen. Any other errors triggered
while running in Autoflash mode will need to be fixed as
instructed in the error message.
* If you get an error message for the Hard-SPL program that says it
cannot connect to the device, then use the cab file that the
Hard-SPL program asks you to install on device.
* Once you install the cab on the device, rerun the Hard-SPL
program. DO NOT freak out as your device appears to completely
power off. Leave the USB cable plugged into device and computer
and follow onscreen prompts.
* When the RUU says it will hard reset, don't worry. It isn't going
to do that. Also, when it says the flash will take 10 minutes,
ignore that. It will only take a minute or so.
* This is unsigned Hard-SPL. No limitations on flashing ROMs (except
of course some Radios). Also, this has overwrite protection
against HTC RUU's overwriting Hard-SPL with a stock one. This
means that if someone needs to revert to stock SPL for warranty
reasons, a stock SPL downgrade package is required and is posted
as an attachment below. Use this relocker **ONLY** if you need to
return the phone for warranty, and **ONLY** use it as the last
step after reflashing stock OS and radio. See steps at the end of
this post about how to reflash stock SPL.
* Anyone having USB problems with the device after it entered SSPL
mode, please copy SSPL-Manual-Rhodium.exe from
SSPL-Manual-Rhodiumxxx.zip attachment in this post, copy it to the
device and run it. then once the screen has gone black, run the
Hard-SPL package on the PC and you must select Manual flash
option. **important*:* make sure that the USB cable is plugged in
and device is synced to Windows Mobile even if doing manual method.
* Do not use this RUU for anything other than SPL flashing (i.e.
hardspl or stock spl restore). Nothing other than SPL's made by
Olinex team, using OliNex custom cert, which is not public, will
flash to make SSPL more secure. If you want to flash some other
ROM, then use the shipped RUU or Rhodium customRUU.
* For developers asking: Hard-SPL is not based on MFG SPL, as it can
only be used for development and hacking, contact cmonex in PM if
you need that one.
* Supported OS versions: both 32-bit and 64-bit XP, Vista, Windows 7
and later. Windows 2000 and lower were not tested. Also, the
program may be unstable or not work on Virtual systems, so it's
recommended to try outside Virtual OS software. Also,to verify the
version: if Hard-SPL package says V200R in first Welcome dialog
title and version 2.00 in About box, it is the latest version, not
some crappy beta/old version.
*Troubleshooting* and *Step by Step on reflashing stock SPL* are in next
post below! Please take the time to read them, they could help keep you from banging your head on the keyboard and saying "Why is this not working!!!"

*_Troubleshooting FAQ_*
If you are having problems, make certain that you've read the information in the first post.
My antivirus software reports this is a virus. What gives?
This program contains no harmful code. It was compiled using a packer, so it may be incorrectly reported as a virus by some software. Simply disable the anti-virus software and try again.
I get the FATAL ERROR that "HardSPL is for NON Commercial purposes...." What do I do?
To fix this, please contact us at the http://support.htc-unlocks.com link (our support ticket system) and use the *Rhodium Hard-SPL* category! Alternatively, you can send a donation, this is optional if for personal use.
Why doesn't this work even when I've already donated?
If you donated in Manual mode, you didn't enter an IMEI or it was mistyped. If you donate in Automatic mode, that will always work as long as the error message was about the commercial usage. To fix this, please contact us at the http://support.htc-unlocks.com ticket system link and use *Rhodium HardSPL - Paying* category!
I get sync issues/a sync error text while running the program.
Check to make sure the phone is NOT in flight mode. Next, try installing http://hpcmonex.net/roms/enablerapinew.cab on the phone. If still same error, disable your firewall temporarily (e.g. ZoneAlarm or Sygate can interfere sometimes). Check the phone screen for any error messages, that can cause a sync error too (such as incompatible model message).
The enablerapinew.cab file cannot be installed on the phone.
Do not extract the CAB file on the PC, copy it to the phone without unzipping it.
I followed the instructions, but nothing happened. It didn't enter the black screen mode.
First make sure the box is unchecked at Start > Settings > Connections > USBtoPC > Enable faster data synchronization. Make sure you've used Automatic flash mode before to put the device in SSPL. If you hard reset your device, you have to repeat Automatic flash mode at least once. Please make sure you watch the device screen during the Hard SPL process to see if it asks about running files. It probably won't, but just in case, check. For example it can warn about model incompatibility.
The program gives me a connection error during the process.
DO NOT UNPLUG THE USB CABLE. If you get connection error in RUU after the device goes to the black SSPL screen, make sure device was still synced via USB to the PC at the point of it entering SSPL (the black screen). It may take some time for the program to see the device again. If it doesn't, you need to wait for it to time out or wait about five minutes, whichever is first. Then, leave the USB cable plugged in and press the reset button with your stylus and start over.
The program gives me ERROR 260 CONNECTION message. What do I do?
DO NOT TRY TO FLASH THROUGH A USB HUB. Disable your anti-virus software for the duration of the flash. If that doesn't help, reboot the PC. Then try a different USB port on the PC. If that doesn't work, try a different USB cable, if you have one (original HTC cable is the best). Make sure you don't move the cable around while it is flashing. If this does not help, download SSPL-Manual-Rhodium.exe from the first post, copy it to your device, and run it. Once the screen goes black, run Hard SPL package on the PC and select Manual Flash.
The device shuts off.
It didn't actually shut off, this is the "black screen" mode, it is ready to flash Hard-SPL at this point, do not worry about the sync getting lost, just continue with the next step on the PC.
The program says it's for a different model or mine isn't supported.
If a message on the phone screen says it's for a different model or device, please check modelID by entering SPL tricolour screen manually, and note what it says for RHODxxx, where xxx is a three-digit number.
T-Mobile, AT&T phones, RHOD100, RHOD200, RHOD210, RHOD300, or variants of these are supported by this package. RHOD400, RHOD500, and variants are CDMA versions and are *not* supported by this package.
My device says that Enterbootloader.exe failed to run due to missing component or corrupt signature.
You'll need to do a hard reset to fix this issue. Turn off the device, and hold talk/send, and end buttons while pressing the reset button once. Release the buttons when the device asks you to confirm the hard reset and press volume up to confirm. Note that a hard reset will factory reset your device and return it to its original shipped condition. You should back up your programs and data before doing this as it will all be gone after the hard reset.
My PC gives me a RAPI.dll error message.
This happens on Windows 7 with versions of Windows Mobile Device Center. To fix it, download and install the latest version of Windows Mobile Device Center.
I get an error message that says the server is down.
First of all, do not use a proxy as the program doesn't support it. Turn off all firewalls including windows built-in firewall, and check if your AV software includes firewalls. Most companies have firewalls on their networks; try this when you get home. Don't tether to the phone being unlocked. Wait 24-48 hours and try again. If it still doesn't work, contact us at http://support.htc-unlocks.com.
I get a corrupt data error message.
Download the Hard SPL package again from the first post of this thread, to be sure you have the latest version intact. Sometimes the download may cut off part ways. Try with a different Internet connection if that doesn't work. If you still have trouble, contact us at http://support.htc-unlocks.com.
The program just crashes and doesn't give me an error message.
Check to see if you have DEP (data execution prevention) enabled in windows. If you do, disable it. Turn off your anti-virus software for the duration of the flash. Sometimes Windows 7 x64 gives problems, try it from a different PC. Virtual PC software is not supported.
When trying to run the program, Windows says it cannot access the path or file.
Disable all antivirus software. Make sure you extract the EXE from the ZIP file before running it. Don't try to run it from a network folder.
The device reboots instead of going into the SSPL screen (black screen).
While this is unlikely to ever happen, if it does, contact cmonex.
My problem still isn't fixed, or I can't find my problem here
Post in the thread. There are several users who monitor this thread and can help you with your problem. To make it easier for the users to help you, please provide as much information as you possibly can. This can include things like your PC operating system, antivirus software, or anything else that might help us figure out your problem. You should also quote any error message texts you are getting.
How to reflash Stock/Shipped SPL - STEP BY STEP - FOR WARRANTY REASONS ONLY!
1. Flash the Stock ROM. If the stock radio isn't included, flash that as well. This must be completed first.
2. Download the Relocker attachment, extract the zip and run the EXE on your PC.
3. If you wish to replace RUU_Signed.NBH that got extracted, feel free to do so, but not necessary. This Hard-SPL will only allow overwrite with a SPL signed by our custom cert. The included one is the 0.79.0000 stock SPL. You also have the option for 0.84.0000 and 0.87.0000.
4. Flash the SPL.
5. Verify if it flashed by checking version in tricolour screen, it should say 0.79.0000 (or 0.84.0000 or 0.87.0000), *not 0.85.OliNex*.
Today is my first day back on HTC devices for a little while,
I sold my Blackstone after missing the keyboard too much (went to a BB - I know flame away)
Anyway, I have been doing a massive amount of reading and am greatly appreciative of all the efforts of the teams who work hard to help us make these devices 'that much better'!!!!
Thanks

[Resources] Flashing your First GSM Rhodium Rom (For Noobs)

PLEASE READ THE *FAQ* BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS!!
IF YOU HAVE A CDMA DEVICE THEN GO *HERE* FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO HARDSPL
IF YOU NEED TO HARD RESET OR ENTER BOOTLOADER YOU CAN FIND INSTRUCTIONS *HERE*
Before starting, backup anything you might want to keep after the new Rom has been flashed as all contacts, emails, texts, notes, Internet BookMarks WILL be lost!!
PimBackup is good and free (copy any mms attachments to your storage card or computer seperately)
*ONCE YOU HAVE FLASHED A HARDSPL ITS PERMANENT. YOU DONT NEED TO DO IT AGAIN WHEN FLASHING NEW ROMS OR RADIOS*
*DO NOT start another process while the flashing process is taking place*
*DO NOT click off of the status bar... Let it stay in the foreground*
*DO NOT let the Screensaver activate*
Any of these can lead to a bad flash and possibly brick your phone
*FLASH HARDSPL BEFORE FLASHING ANY CUSTOM ROMS*
1. YOUR DEVICE MUST HAVE AT LEAST 50% BATTERY POWER FIRST BEFORE ATTEMPTING EACH STAGE
2. FLASH HARDSPL
The Original HardSPL Thread is *HERE*
IMPORTANT: Each user gets 1 license, or perhaps 2-3 on request if needed (valid forever and works as transparently as possible, so it won't be a problem at all)
you can send a request for 1-2 more devices for private user (free) at http://support.htc-unlocks.com (ONLY at this link, not in PM).
NOTE1: This package is for Rhodium (Touch Pro 2, not the original Touch Pro) devices. CDMA-GSM worldphone version is not accepted (RHOD400, RHOD500 modelids), that will have its own HardSPL later. This HardSPL supports WM6.5
NOTE2: If you have Vista or Windows 7, update WMDC to v6.1 *HERE* first
Flashing via ActiveSync with USB Lead (thanks to OliNex)
1. Download HardSPL package from *HERE* and extract to an empty folder
2. Synch Phone with PC in Windows Mobile!!! It has to be connected to activesync or WMDC via USB cable and it must not be in Flight/Airplane mode (i.e. radio should be on)
3. NEW: Internet access is required as the program checks online for updates and license
4. Run Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3.exe on PC, make sure it's launched from a local drive (not through network drive, etc.). XP requires Admin logon and Vista/Windows 7 will automatically prompt to allow it to run in Admin mode, allow it. If you get an AntiVirus warning please ignore it, it contains no harmful code (just used a packer to compress it).
5. Follow steps as prompted in the HardSPL program. If this is the first run of HardSPL on a device after Hard Reset, you must select Automatic Flash Mode (first button in Welcome Screen)
NOTE: You should usually go for Automatic Flash Mode. The Manual Flash option is only to be used as noted below and you must only attempt the Manual Mode option if Automatic Flash Mode or SSPL-Manual.exe already put device in black screen. Any other errors triggered while running in Autoflash Mode will have to be fixed as instructed in the error message.
6. It will ask you to wait while it prepares for the flashing, press OK
7. Now it should go through without any error messages, if one does pop up then follow the instructions included in the error text. If no specific instruction is shown then ask for help in the thread, but this should not ever occur (as this means a really fatal error occurred)
8. At this point the phone hopefully went to a black screen (reporting version as 1.01.C-SSPL only using "info 7" in mtty), this is the SSPL version, which is temporary. Then RUU will instantly launch
9. NOTE: When RUU says it will Hard Reset do not worry, it is not going to do that. Also when it says the flash will take 10 minutes ignore that, it will only take a minute or so
10. SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done
*Go into BootLoader Mode (do a Soft Reset while holding the "volume down" key on the left side of the device. Keep holding the "volume down" key until you see tricolour screen which is the bootloader mode, then release it) and verify the screen shows 0.85.OliNex, which is the HardSPL version*
NOTE1: This is unsigned HardSPL. No limitations on flashing ROMs (except of course some Radio roms). Also this has overwrite protection against HTC RUU's overwriting HSPL with a stock one. See steps in the Original thread about how to reflash stock SPL.
NOTE2: Anyone having USB problems with the device after it enters SSPL mode, download SSPL-Manual-Rhodium.exe, copy it to the phone and run it. Once the screen has gone black, run the HardSPL package on the PC and select Manual Flash option.
*IMPORTANT* Make sure that the USB cable is plugged in and device is synched to Windows Mobile even if doing manual method.
NOTE3: Do not use this RUU for anything other than SPL flashing (i.e. hardspl or stock spl restore)!!! Nothing other than SPL's made by Olinex team (using OliNex custom cert, which is not public) will flash to make SSPL more secure. If you want to flash another rom then use shipped RUU or Rhodium customRUU if you want to flash cooked ROM.
3. DOWNLOAD AND FLASH YOUR PREFERED ROM
NOTE: Check the Roms Thread for any specific Flashing instructions. If there arent any then you can use the following guide.
Flashing Via ActiveSync
1. Download your prefered Rom from the Rhodium Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your computer
2. REMOVE SIM and microSD CARDS!!
3. Turn phone back on and wait until it syncs with your PC
4. Run the CustomRUU.exe from the Roms Folder (if one isnt included then download it *HERE*)
5. Follow onscreen instructions to set up your New Rom
6. Once phone has gone through the customisation procedure then replace Sim and microSD Cards
7. Turn phone back on and set up as required
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the Rhodium Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to RHODIMG.nbh
4. Copy the RHODIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
4. FLASH PREFERED RADIO (OPTIONAL)
For more information about compatible Radios go *HERE*
Flashing Via ActiveSync
1. Sync your phone with the PC
2. Run CustomRUU.exe from the Radio's Folder and follow the instructions (if one isnt included then download it *HERE*)

FAQ for Flashing your First Rhodium Rom
FAQ
1. What Operating systems are supported for Flashing HardSPL?
Supported OS versions: 32bit and 64bit XP, Vista, Windows 7RC and later. win2000 was untested, and pre-RC win7 (lower than build 7100) is explicitly not supported. Also the program may be unstable or not work on Virtual systems, so it's recommended to try outside Virtual OS software. Also version verify: if HardSPL package says V120R in first Welcome dialog title (and version 1.20 in About box) it is the latest version, not some crappy beta/old version.
---------------------------
2. Why is it recommended to remove the Sim Card and microSD Card before Flashing?
microSD Card removal is recommended just in case any self booting programs or UC setup files are on there that might interupt or conflict with the setup procedure after flashing.
Sim Card removal is recommended because as soon as your phone reboots after flashing your phone will be live and if you get a call or text message during the initial setup it might interfere and ruin the setup.
If you flashed with both the cards in it should be fine as long as none of the above situations happened. Just be aware for future flashes
---------------------------
3. What are the different types of Unlock? (answer by DaveShaw)
The three stages of unlock are:
SIM: Allows you to use SIM's from another carrier. Can be done using codes or unlocker programs on xda-devs.
Security: Allows you to flash radios from another device (radios intended for your device only need Hard SPL) - It does other stuff, but this is all the casual user will use it for
CID: CID unlocking is an old concept, nowadays you flash Hard SPL instead. Hard SPL lets you flash any ROM, Splash or Radio (depending on sec unlock) to your device. The stock SPL's only let you flash signed ROM images that match the CID & Model of your device. N.B. the CID is the carrier ID (e.g. HTC__001, or VODAP100).
Also, SuperCID is setting your CID to a value that allows you to flash other signed (shipped) ROMs, even if the CIDs are different after removing Hard SPL. - SuperCID is performed by the Olipro unlocker.
---------------------------
4. What is the difference between ROM and RADIO?
The Rom is the operating system and included patches, tweaks and programs. The Radio is a seperate part of the firmware on the phone that handles all communation related matters such as signal, gps, bluetooth, camera, wifi and sound. Newer Radios to include improvements or fixes in older version, or even just to compliment an existing Rom or network so a newer Radio isnt neccessarily better. Radios also need to be matched to the correct Rom so you cant just put any Radio and Rom together.
---------------------------
5. How do Stock ROMS differ from Cooked ROMS?
Stock Roms usually have extra 'bloatware' added which take up extra space on the phone. Custom Roms are stripped down to provide more space and most are tweaked to provide a faster more stable Operating System. Every chef is different so you have to look around the forums to see which Rom is best for your needs.

Too true....I remember how scared I was when doing my first flash on my Wizard though. Somethin like this at the time would have put my mind at ease (would have probably scared me to death even more at the same time! ).
It's funny how, with experience, that fear fades away and you just flash as if you've been doing it all your life. Some people will learn the hard way...others will read, read, read like I did many years ago! (as they most definitely should)
Nice post mskip.
When flashing a new ROM via Active Sync, is it really necessary to remove the SIM-card and SD-card? I didn't and the flashing did go well. No problems at all!
Just extra precaution against wiping your cards out or God forbid getting incomming phone signal during flash and having that interfere!

Unfortunately flashing HardSPL on a Rhodium is a very in depth process and no shortcuts can be taken for the safety of the phone. The purpose of this guide is to give someone the whole process from flashing HardSPL to changing the Rom or Radio and save them having to keep 4 or 5 screens open with all the different information.
I remember when I first flashed my OLD Hermes many many years ago (god that makes me sound old haha) I was trying to pull all the information I needed together and ended up with over 15 pages all with different information and different methods on how to do the same thing and it took months off my flashing life.
I only made this up last night and the HardSPL information is taken directly from the creators thread. I will go through the HardSPL section and try to "dumb" it down so its easier to understand but if people want to customise their device then they HAVE to be prepared to follow all the steps to the letter and not complain that its too hard or too in depth.
This is the third one stop flashing guide I have written and the other ones have helped thousands of people flash their phones, the fancy fonts and colours are just their to help point things out
Any improvemants or additions are welcome (although my 10000 character limit has already been reached so if I add something then something else has to be taken off)
no problem to flash an official rom later?
you talk about : "CDMA-GSM worldphone version is not accepted (RHOD400, RHOD500 modelids)"
i'm the owner of the european htc touch pro 2, is it supported or not? thx

Once you have HardPSL on your phone then you are free to flash Official or custom Roms as you desire.
Im sure the Touch Pro 2 is supported but if you are unsure in any way then ask in the developers thread.
Ok I've got a question. In the starting post is sais that the HARD-SPL is permanent. Is it really permanent, or can you change the HARD-SPL later on when updates are brought out?
I guess it is permanent in a way that it won't be removed after you reflash you device. But it can be altered right? (Because there are updates brought out for HARD-SPL also

It means it cannot be replaced by a stock SPL. There is a flag in the Hard SPL to prevent it from being overwritten. You must use SSPL to change the SPL version - PS the relocker in the Hard SPL thread will revert you to Stock SPL if need be.

Mark, you forgot SD card Flashing - RHODIMG.ngh
Would you be able to add it when you get chance?

Sorry Master
When I was writing the guide I didnt see anything about microSD Card flashing so I thought it best to leave it out. Plus I knew that you would pick up anything I left out
I will add it to the Rom and Radio flashing steps but I totally maxed out my post already. Any chance you can bung me another 5000 characters I promise I will pay you back next week Failing that I will have to do some drastic rewording or spread the guide over the first 2 posts

[Q] This is depressing, stuck on SPL [email protected]! Trying to flash to a HSPL ROM

Hey guys,
New to this whole world of flashing devices and have been browsing for days trying to learn and understand all the different terms associated, so please forgive me if i say something that doesn't make any sense
Trying to upgrade my HTC Touch HD (Blackstone), Rom version: 1.14 WWE (put my phone into bootloader and the SPL is 1.14), was trying to update my phone which is when i came across cooking roms and updating them via flashing, have read Digital Outcast's Dummies guide: flashing 1.56+ roms [v 2.0] - [HSPL][USPL], decided i wanted to follow the HSPL which is when i came across
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671277
and wanted to install the 'blackSTONEhenge HyPer MaxSense' Rom, said i needed RADIO ROM version 1.14 or above, my stock standard HTC has RADIO Version 1.09, which meant i had to try and flash my devices radio rom.
What im not sure is this HSPL, i dont fully understand if im supposed to try and get/put HSPL on my phone before i do any flashing/ im not sure if HSPL is the 'thing' that allows flashing to become capable...
If someone could help me out as i have been browsing the forums for a few days and its driving me nuts as usually i would have worked it out by now!
Cheers,
Scott

dont get confused
1.just download "HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.zip" from "Attached files".
and unzip in a empty folder.
2.connect your phoneto pc via active sync.
3.run HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe, click yes/next/ok(sorry dont remember what was it, you phone will restart in bootloader (three color screen and hspl will be done automatically.
thats it.
now flash any radio or rom of ur choice.
nice explanation, just let me add some newbie information:
basically, what you are facing, is flashing three things:
1. you flash hspl, which means that your device will be unlocked for roms of all carriers and all countries, and you will be permanently ready to switch roms any time you want, as it remains in your phone, whatever you do (hard reset, flashing a stock rom, whatever).
2. the radio rom, the radio is the bridge between the windows mobile operating system and the hardware. this is responsible for the fact, that for example switching on wi-fi is done with the same button on any device, independent from which wi-fi card is actually installed. it controls wi-fi, gsm, 3.5G communications, bluetooth, camera and sound input and output. the latest radio for the blackstone is 1.17 (.25.09 i believe). it offers the best quality in all beforementioned services, but drains slightly more power than previous versions, due to higher performance.
as there is actually yet another stepping stone between the OS and the radio, rilphone.dll, it is advised to use a new radio with the cooked roms offered here. most chefs integrate a new rilphone.dll in their roms and they work best with the corresponding radio rom.
3. in the end, you will flash the actual OS rom that changes your operating system, possibly the language, the manila version and everything else. just like formatting your windows xp pc and installing windows 7, your apps, settings and personal information (in this case contacts, appointments, sms...) will be gone.
for it to work, you must flash hspl first, or your device will be unable to accept actual roms, and then proceed with the radio, and before flashing the actual OS rom (in your case blackstonehenge), you should perform a task 29, either you can flash it (see task 29 thread), or use mtty or use advanced ruu, which has an extra option to do it.
this was just a basic introduction to make it easier for you, to understand, what you are actually doing, when attempting to flash, the rest and all the steps to take are in the tutorials, i just find it easier to do, when you actually know, why you do certain steps, helps you remember for the next time.

Chef_Tony
Ok thanks guys for the responses, and especially chef_tony's, cheers.
P.s. Sorry for the complicated response below, its hell to read
I have tried to follow:
Dummies guide: flashing 1.56+ roms [v 2.0] - [HSPL][USPL]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
And it hasn't worked, when I follow the HSPL steps I get to step (HSPL2c) and it just sits on 0% and give an Error [262] code (this is the section where we try to flash Blackstone_156OliNex to the device.
The tutorial says: run HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe, which then tells us to establish an activesync connection, which i think means we have to get the bootloader mode to USB, in order to get the bootloader to USB Mode I have to connect my phone to the pc before running the HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe and leaving it connected to the pc to A) establish the activesync connection(Windows device centre doesn't register the phone as connected whilst in bootloader) then B) get the bootloader mode the USB.
So what i have done:
So the phone is connected to the pc, activesync registers the phone(leaving the phone connected i then),
place it into bootloader (shows USB Mode)
Then run HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe (i run it as an administrator)
the program tells me to establish an activesync connection (Windows device centre doesn't register the phone while its in bootloader, which dummies guide tells us to do), i dont know how to establish an activesync connection whilst the phone is in bootloader, so anyway i hit next, next and just click update the rom, and it just sits at 0% and give an Error [262]
Im not sure if the reason for this error is because i haven't put HSPL on the device, im still not 100% sure about the whole HSPL, i think all i have to do for this is run the HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe ?? then is the HSPL issue sorted?
Thanks again guys,
Scott
Dis-regard this post
easy thing. i had the same issue when attempting to install hspl for the first time. as described in the tutorial post you mentioned, i went to the part troubleshooting:
Troubleshooting - manual SSPL
- Boot up your phone.
- Copy SSPL-Manual-TouchHD.exe to your phone. In a file browser on your phone browse to where you copied SSPL-Manual-TouchHD.exe and run it.
- Your phone will reboot into its bootloader and should show SPL v 1.07.OliNex.
- When it shows USB at the bottom then run HSPLWrapper_blackstone_156OilNex.exe from your computer again.
- Go to step HSPL3 if successful.
with this extra step it worked for me, because installing sspl directly on your phone, it prevents 262 connection errors and unlocks the device temporarily which makes it easier to install hspl.
Thanks again chef,
ok i connected my phone, then copied the SSPL-Manual-TouchHD.exe to my device, run it and it loads into bootloader, shows spl 1.07OilNex, doesn't show USB no matter how long i wait, i unplug it and don't get serial mode either
Tried re connecting it and still no USB or serial mode comes up :\
I had tried following the troubleshooting tutorial before i posted on here for help
Should i try running the HSPLWrapper_blackstone_156OilNex.exe without USB mode showing?
and really appreciate all the help,
Scott
Following with interest
Tony and Scot enjoying the posts and hoping to pick up a few pearls of wisdom before upgrading. I have played around with my Touch HD and had it dual booting with android from SD card. For some reason I can no longer use my camera in wm 6.1.
I can not find camera.exe cab and was considering upgrading to wm 6.5 to see if that solves the problem.
Billy, im just stabbing at the dark here, but im guessing if you do flash your device to wm 6.5, during the installation of the upgrade, you're .exe for the camera will be re installed and should work again. Gdluck
Upgrading to wm 6.5
Probably right Scotty, I just want to make sure I don't brick the phone for the sake of getting my camera to work again. Have you managed to complete the upgrade?
Haven't yet, just waiting for some words of wisdom from tony
I also had Error [262] when tried to apply HSPL last week.
But, I applied USPL path to install HSPL!
So I entered USPL and started HSPL install.
Then process finished without any problems.
And it's working excellent... now on the 3rd ROM since appliing HSPL...
good idea, the most important thing is to get a stable connection for the bootloader, and if uspl makes it easier to install hspl, i would definitely give it a try. as posted before, depending on your soft branding, first installing hspl can be a hassle, however, once it's done, you never have to deal with it again (which is also, why many long term blackstone users including myself hardly remember, how to go about changing the spl).
also, since you mentioned that in sspl, you didn't see serial or usb in bootloader mode, make sure that your connection is actually stable. in bootloader mode, windows needs another driver for the device from what is used to sync the device (when it is switched on). especially, when using windows vista or windows 7, you should have a look at the thread "[tut] dummies guide: updating htc sync drivers".
especially on windows 7 x64 it can be quite a lot of work to get it running, because these drivers are not digitally signed, so you'd have to sign them yourself, which requires permanent test mode and comes with a watermark on your desktop, which, in turns, can be removed again. in that case, i would advise you to try a windows xp pc first to get your device up and running and you can deal with this later.
so, in short form:
1. in case you use windows vista or 7 and haven't dealt with the driver yet, have a look at the link to the tutorial or use a windows xp pc with activesync installed.
2. if you are positive that drivers cannot be the issue, or you successfully updated them, step forward and try the "uspl to install hspl" method, bodisson suggested.
CRACKED IT! dont have time to type how but ill post what happened once i wake up, thanks for all the help guys, you guys are legends!
Many thanks to Chef_Tony for his help in this matter. You've a lot of mod like qualities mate
Scottygrot, I'm glad you got it sorted in the end.
I'm closing this thread now. In future please post all flashing issues in Dummies Guide thread
Ta
Rick
