[Q] Auto connect A2DP - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there an app for android to automatically connect A2DP when the handsfree connects?
I used to use an app called autoA2DP on win mobile.
At first pairing it connects both a2dp and handsfree, after that only handsfree connects automatically, any help would be appreciated as it's already driving me nuts....
Thanks!

Go to bluetooth settings, long press on the device in question, then options. Make sure Phone and Media are both checked.

Yep, they are... I can manually connect a2dp from both the car stereo and the phone, it just doesn't happen automatically like the handsfree does, had the same prob with windows mobile, but an xda dev user here developed autoA2DP to watch for a handsfree connection, then activate A2DP.

I don't know why yours is different, but mine auto connects for both every time I turn my Bluetooth headset on.

It does vary between headsets a bit. My Jabra Halo's connect automatically when I power on the phone or the headset. On the other hand my JBL Reference 610's had to be connected manually every time.
Still it seems odd though that is connects in handsfree and not A2DP, I always thought it was all or nothing. When a device connects it gives all available profiles and the phone decides what to accept. I don't know, sorry.

I have the same problem.. it does not auto connect with my car's bluetooth. The only way it auto connects is when I have the discoverable mode on (which has a limit of 116 secs or so). So an app that lets you be discoverable all the time would be great!

Same problem but reverse. My phone connects automatically to my phones music everytime i switch it on, however the more important headset/phone functions do not. I must manually disconnect and reconnect the stereo from within the phones bluetooth settings for both to work. Have looked through hundreds of threads found loads of people eith the same problem, yet no solutions. Would love an app to just disconnect and reconnect the bluetooth the moment it detects a paired device in range.... as yet found nothing...

Well... I'm getting the same.
I have LiquidAUX on my car and to have both phone and a2dp synced, I have to restart phone BT and LiquidAUX every time I go into car. And most of the times I can only have 1 connection each time, or phone is on and a2dp is off or a2dp is on and phone is off. It's really annoying since I had an HTC Hero with Android 2.2 and it used to work with no problems...

Hi guys,
Before one month I buy HTC Desire android and I have problem streaming audio through Bluetooth. I have connected the phone with my car and they are paired. Every time when I go in the car my phone is connected to the car Bluetooth automatic, but I'm not able to run A2DP.
I'm with latest Runney rom, before that I tested with MIUI XJ, but no success with both.
Can some one tell me if there is rom without these 2 issues - bluetooth auto connection and a2dp.
Thanks

Wireless sterto via bluetooth to car stero

Quite a while ago I bought a Sony BT3600U car stero as it was bluetooth enabled so I could stream music from my Kaiser direct to the car speakers.
All was working well until I moved the car stereo to my new car.
Now although it's all paired up fine when I turn on the car stero it just links to the handsfree bluetooth but doesn't automatically go to wireless stereo.
Instead to get the wireless stereo to work I have to go into bluetooth settings click on xplode (which is the car stereo) and then choose set as wireless stereo.
I know from before that I managed to get it to automatically switch to wireless stereo when in range of the partnered car stereo but I can't for the life of me remember how I did it.
Does anyone have any clues?
Sounds to me like it's an issue with the stereo, not the Kaiser.
Perhaps try disabling the handsfree service (for that pair) on the Kaiser? I can't remember exactly if you disable certain services.

I have an XCarLink and I have the same behaviour which is a bit annoying. I did a bit of searching a while ago but never got anywhere. If there is an (easy) answer to this I would be interested.
Andy
No it's def not the stereo , i've got it working sort of using A2DP toggle but it's not automatic.
Installed A2DP toggle and linked it to the audio manager on the kaiser.
So I just click the play button on my home screen and it kicks in the wireless stereo and launches the audio manager at the same time and it all works.
It's just annoying as I know that before I moved the stereo from my Honda civic to my hyundai Coupe all I had to do was just start audio manager and the wireless stereo kicked in automatically.
I've seen this too; I have a Sony BT5000 (basically the same as the OP), and I've seen it with both Wizard & Kaiser devices.
A bit more testing - expected behaviour?
I went out in the car earlier and had to do the 'set as wireless stereo' trick to get the BT streaming working with the XCarLink. When I switched off the engine and the head unit powered off the headset icon disappeared from the phone (which is normal) indicating there was no connection. I then left the car but left the bluetooth enabled on the phone instead of switching it off as I normally do. When I returned and drove off the partnership was re-established and the headset icon re-appeared and I was able to stream music etc without doing the 'set as wireless stereo' trick.
I tested this a couple of times and the behaviour was the same - i.e. leave BT enabled on the phone but switch on/off the XCarLink (car kit) and the partnership re-establishes each time with Wireless Stereo working. Switch BT off and then back on on the phone and you have to manually select Wireless Stereo.
Is this the expected behaviour or is there a trick to getting this working seamlessly?
Andy
That didnt' work for me. I even did a hard reset on my phone to see if there was something I had installed causing it not to relink.
If I had any hair, i'd be pulling it out by now
It's so frustrating knowing that I had worked it out once before but when it comes to the crunch you can't remember for the life of you how you did it.
Well i've been searching for an answer and found this here

There is a very simple fix to enable the Pioneer to recognise and connect to your phone. You see the Pioneer is searching for a phone or a Smartphone, the Trinity identifies itself as a PPC and so the Pioneer ignores it.
The Class of Device or CoD must be changed so that the Trinity identifies itself as either a phone or Smartphone.
If you change the Dword Data value in.... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SY S\COD"
to 5374476 (decimal) and set bluetooth to discoverable in your Trin, you should find that it connects automatically.
It took me 8 months to find this out.
PS. I don't have the problem with not hearing the callers.

But it didn't work for me - on the plus side though I did find a really cool mortscript from the same guy which when I plug the kaiser into my car cradle/charger it recognises the car stereo (but doesn't set to "wireless stereo" and automatically loads up my media player
My search continues
EDIT: Ok found that once the initial partnership for wireless stereo is done, if I turn off the radio and turn it back on again, the partnership is lost as usual until I press channel 6 (pause) on my head unit and then it comes back on.

Bluetooth: Phone/CarStereo won't connect by Handsfree and A2DP profiles automatically

Ok...wondering if you guys can help...
Phone: XDA Ignito
Car stereo: Sony MEX-BT4700U
(http://www.sony.co.uk/product/ica-bluetooth-car-stereo/mex-bt4700u)
The first time I first linked the two, both the phone and stereo automatically recognised that they could both use 'Handsfree' and 'A2DP' profiles, signified by two sperate symbols on stereo, and the two different BT profile symbols on the Ignito. Both worked perfectly, music streaming and handsfree.
However, the next time I returned to the car...only the 'Handsfree' profile connected automatically.
In the bluetooth settings on the Ignito it knows it can connect both ways, if I uncheck handsfree profile, and leave A2DP checked, it connected prefectly fine by A2DP. (and vice versa).
So my question is...why the hell won't it connect using BOTH profiles automatically, like it did at first connection? Am I going to have to mess around in the bluetooth profile settings every time I want to switch from handsfree to A2DP?!?!?
Thanks guys,
Dave
Noone?
Now it seems to only connect via 'handfree' profile, even when i've unchecked handsfree profile in the bluetooth device settings and ticked the 'stereo' profile.

Bluetooth and how it works with android

Hey guys got some questions concerning BT.
I have noticed that bluetooth doesnt always reconnect when it should. Or am i missing something here.
I have my phone paired with my stereo receiver in my car.
- I get in my car and turn on bluetooth. After about a minute my phone pairs with my car and everything is good. I can do calls, stream mp3's via BT and use Pandora as well. Now i stop at the gas station to get gas or whatever. I shut the car of there for breaking the bluetooth connection. Bluetooth is still enabled on my android. However when i start the car back up the phone will not connect to the bluetooth in the car unless i turn bluetooth off then on again.
I'm assuming this is do to some time out count in the BT stack? is there a way to edit something in order to make this auto connect? Any one with greater knowledge on the subject school me a little bit here?
Thanks!

Bluetooth Auto Connect

Hi,
I bought a Bluetooth Car Stereo. I've paired it and it pairs fine. When I connect it, it works great and IF I leave BT permanently on, it automatically connects when I sit in the car. If I disable bluetooth to conserve battery, upon re-enabling it, it DOES NOT automatically connect. Instead, I have to go Settings, Wireless, Bluetooth and press Connect manually.
Is there no way of making my phone automatically scan or check or whatever? I'm pretty sure my old Nokia could connect automatically, in fact I'll test now!
Thanks,
Joe

Car stereo hijacks bluetooth media connection

I have a Pioneer car stereo with built in Parrot bluetooth and media connection. I had this issue with my previous phone so it must be either an Android issue or problem with my car stereo bluetooth. Every time I connect bluetooth to the car stereo the phone enables media connectivity and I have to manually go in and turn it off again. Sometimes I have to turn it on and off again as it says it's connected even though it isn't (tick box is ticked but if I untick it it connects and I have to untick it again and OK it to verify). Also if I disconnect it then cycle through the sources on the car stereo as soon as I get to bluetooth it enables it again.
I don't want it on because I want to hear media audio through the phone speakers and phone calls through the car stereo.
Android 4.1.2 at present.

I think the answer lies in the question here,, Parrot Bluetooth Media Connection.
The stereo isn't 'smart' enough to determine that what is connecting to it is a Phone/MP3 and as such you wont be able to split the audio to have the phone play music and the Stereo take calls, it'll end up being one over the other.
One way around this would be to test with a completely different Bluetooth Headset to see if this allows music to be played on the Device and Calls to come through on the Headset,, failing that its going to have to be a potential dev jobby to split how the device sends its audio and to what specific device,,, if that lies with HTC and Android/Us or Pioneer/Parrot themselves,, might be worth asking whats the official standpoint on this with the Manufacturer and see if they are getting this same issue from multiple folks

I have the same problem with my HTC One across four different ROMs, two GE and two Sense.
It's NOT an issue with my car stereo (uConnect system) as it works flawlessly on my Nexus 7 and VZW Galaxy Nexus. I prefer to have media (music, Ingress etc...) play over the phone. Only thing I want to play over the uConnect is the actual phone. No matter how many times I unselect media in the bluetooth settings it selects it again.
I see this is an old thread, anyone have any ideas?
Nope. It does not always do it though. I found that if I leave bluetooth on it seems to be OK just as long as I don't switch through from aux to radio to CD and back to USB again on the Pioneer. If I use the automatic bluetooth app to save battery it connects but then connects with the media option enabled. Bummer.

I've just installed Bluetooth Auto Connect have to go run some errands in a little while, I'll let you know if it helps out managing profiles or not.
If it works let me know what settings you used as I don't understand all the options lol.
bluetooth problem
Hi developers: Thanks Team Venom for a great ROM. I have only one problem. Rom 2.7 no problem with Bluetooth in the car. 3.1 Installation of clean and dirty disables bluetooth. Ten seconds connected and then disconnected. Again, connects and disconnects. So it all over again. It is in version 3.6 ... any change BT software? You can install the software separately BT? Or any other advice? Thank you very much
edit: I deleted the original settings in the car. Again the connection and still the same problem.
