Diamond user needs help badly - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Greetings guys, Im having problems with my HTC Diamond the problem is that i think the volume down is stuck even tough the volume down key is not pressed I also checked the button itself and there's no problem on the physical button
what happens is that everytime I do a soft reset the phone goes into bootloader mode I have to press the volume up key while doing a soft reset to make it boot normally after it boots to windows mobile the volume down keeps popping up like someone is pressing the volume down key I have to press the power button and press it again to make it stop but when I press the volume up key the volume goes up and then the volume down is on again I have to hold the volume up key and adjusting the volume from the screen just to make the volume up again, has anyone have any idea whats going on with my diamond I also tried hard reset, change the ROM MTTY and still the same problem I already have tried 3 different ROMS ans still the same problem occurs I also checked the volume keys and seems like no problem it is still making the clicking sensation when i press the button so I know that the volume keys are not stuck

Any Takers???

sorry, read your post and really have no clue.
In your place i would definitely contact HTC for repair (restore stock SPL and ROM), or if outta warranty i would try to figure it out by taking it apart. There are some disassembly guids available here and on the net; but i'm not sure if i would have the courage to do so.
Good luck and sorry can't help you out

Greetings, Its cool. I understand If not alot of people will reply to my post because I know this is quite a unique issue im having. I did reverse engineering on my Diamond but I don't see any physical sign that the issue is coming from the physical button. I will try to talk to some cellphone technician here, Thank you for your time looking and reading my post.

How to hard reset (thru hardware buttons)

Hi everyone, I was trying a new software and when I tried to recover from a Sprite backup, the phone now hangs on the boot up screen (the one with the R, G and D version numbers).
¿Could someone please tell me how to force a hard reset on start up?. I'm starting to panic.
Turn off phone, press both softkeys and then press the powerbutton for exactly one second!
Not more! Then release it...
It tells me to press the "send" button. ¿Which one is it?.
For those who want to reset it while the system is running they'll have to do this:
Go to Start >More > Expert > Clear Storage.
Then you have to enter 1234 and reset
For those who want to reset it while the system is running they'll have to do this:
Go to Start >More > Expert > Clear Storage.
Then you have to enter 1234 and reset
Disregard my previous question, I've already found out.
¡¡Thank you very much Dumdidum!!. You saved my day.
To HARD RESET Turn off the phone, keep pressed the two soft keys on the front, then press power for 1-2 seconds and it will ask to press SENd key. Send key = the green key for making calls.
If you press something else the phone will reboot.
I already found out, but thank you anyway.

Yea, but he only gave you part of the story.
Quick advice
Thanks for the info . Just a comment, the trick is to just momentairly press the on/off switch as you hold down both of the soft buttons. You must continue to hold both of those down until you see a message on the screen. Keeping the power button pressed didn't do the trick for me.
I am a new comer for the WM6. My X03HT(S730) can't do the hard reset after I install a Chinese input for professional/classical version. Does it make my S730 fail to do the hard reset? My S730 now is no function with the keyboard after I get in OS. By the way, the tripod-color mode is work.
*OOPS* wrong device
Yo thanx lalvarado,
Your advice did the thing for me, super!

diamond doesn't hard reset, please help

hi all, my first ever post in this forum. first of all many thanks for being here.
I was reading too many threads about the diamond. mainly about hard reset problems and new roms. my problem is that I couldn't perform hard reset. searched over the forum, tried what others did, just no result, what I am getting is only soft reset.
the method is:
use reset button while holding volume down & enter buttons , release the reset and keep holding others until the information window appears on the screen... somebody says power button also needed to be hold. somebody suggest holding the enter button very carrefully as it is very easy to activate direction buttons. somebody says rom is need to be updated as existing rom can be corrupted.
I tried all of above, I did update the rom several times and checked if hard reset is working, no result.
my tricolor screen says :
DIAM100 MGF 64M
SPL-1.24.Hard
MicroP-Diam (LED) v11
PSOC-Diam STAGE_PVT v0x32
I've 1.37.405.1 and radio rom 1.00.25.03 now, I know they are older versions but I tried 1.96. series too but did not throw in another hspl.
is it worth to try flashing with newer hard-spl such as 1.93 and compatible roms. any suggestion is very appreciated. I just wory about it coz read in many threads it is good to perform a hard reset after a new rom.
ps:assuming if it is cannot be changed, any software to perform hard reset? sow somewhere video of it, any help?
thanks for reading
Read this.

thanks for post but link doesn't work. I assume there is just explaination of normal hard reset method which I tried several times already.
Hi
cant open the above link to confirm if the same as what method i use, press and hold volume down and enter and the reset and release all upon tri colour
i must remove the SIM to get a hardreset.
with inseted SIM the procedure not works on my device (why ever? no idea!)
Just to further clarify:
If you have the CDMA version (like I), you must hold down power button + volume down + enter button at same time. Press the reset button with your third hand and continue holding the buttons until a screen prompts you for a reset. Volume up button will confirm the hard reset.
That's what I had to do and I would love to meet the engineer behind that crazy combination... I had to prop the stylus in a 3 ring binder while holding the three buttons so i could jab the back of the phone into the stylus while my other two hands were preoccupied with this stupid combo.
Arg. Hope this helps

this is not the hard reset. I got the tricolor screen by holding volume down + reset button. for hard reset there must be a window asking your approval if you are confirming hard reset, than pressing volume up is performing it.
while holding volume down + enter and resetting is resulting soft reset only. I tried many times as if I am mistakenly pressing other buttons but not... any help?
edit:with sim or without it didn't make any difference. however, I tried the last method whitesoxxx suggest but didn't hold the reset as I hold the others, will give result in a minute. by the way my device is from orange, is it CDMA (sorry if it sound soo stupid
result:nope, didn't make many difference, still soft reset. one more question: this reset confirmation window, how many second later it suppose to appear?
thanks
my last post might point you in right direction...

It is an incredibly stupid combo! I had to search xda-developers to figure it out the first time because i just didn't believe the user manual!
For me, it works easiest with the diamond face down on the edge of a desk and supported against a heavy object (shelving unit) so that the Vol Down & Enter combo can be done one handed. I then have a hand free to press reset, which is easy with the back cover off!
beleive me i have no any complain about how difficult to reach ald hold all those buttons at same time, I am quite use to it
I sent back the diamond today as hard reset problem was really annoying. I tought mine was defected somehow. will buy another, if next one does the same should I send it back again? is it really necessary to do hard reset after updating rom?
thanks
To perform a hard reset
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and
ENTER button, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until you see a message on the screen.4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the
VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other
button to cancel the reset.
4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the
VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other
button to cancel the reset.

tryed holding the buttons and it didnt do anything.
He's advising that you hard reset. That's what I'd do, too, but if it continues to hang, flash a stock rom. You may need to go into bootloader manually if you do it over usb.
Fixed it please delete.
hard rest verizon phones
i think that verizon has ****ed the customers when i comes to hard resetting i think that they disable the option when you are try to do it with the whole volume button power button the reset thing i have gone through two phones because of this but now i found program that was leaked and it does it for me you go into that mode where you get that multiple colored screen and then once you plug you phone into your computer and then you run it and it hard resets the phone
that would be great if you can share how do you it with us, so any body have this problem can be fixed without asking too much.

Hard Reset Problem, really driving me crazy.

Hello everyone.
I am new to the whole custom rom and flashing thing, but after some reading and researching I decided to backup my stock rom and flash a custom one.
So I did successfully, to the point when the flash is done and I should do a so called Hard Reset. I've done the hard reset thing before and it worked, but now when I hold the both "silver" couloured buttons and the powerbutton at once the phone vibrates once and start booting.
I just don't know how to proceed with this since my X1 won't go in to Hard reset mode, I have no idea why or what I should do, so please, anyone just give me a hint and make my day.
Sorry if this is a totally useless thread for everyone else and it's just being annoying, but I really need some help here guys and girls.
Thanks in advance / Anton.
You probably just haven't gone through this procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431218
Hope that solves it
Good luck!
Actually I did, I followed BioVolt's videoguides on every step and when I checked afterwards on the tri color bootloader-screen it said: "KOVS110 SPL-0.72.01iNex" wich indicates that the Hard SPL procedure was successful.
Thanks for the hint tough, problem still not solved...

I had the same problem - what you need to do is NOT hold the power button for long, just for like a second then it should work.
I too faced hardreset problem earlier, then later i found the following procedure holds corrects, atleast for my mobile. What i do is, press both silver buttons at a time and press power button only once and leave it(just press and leave only power button not the silver colored ones)..after few secs it will go to hard reset mode...
Try holding down the volume down button and the power button to go into the bootloader mode. From there, continue with your normal hard reset procedure which is holding down the 2 silver buttons and then press the reset button.
You only need to hold the two soft keys (silver buttons) to get into hard reset mode. if your phone is off, then you only need to tap the power button to turn on the phone, not hold it, but continue to hold the silver keys until you get the grey screen.
Hope that helps

You need to completely shutdown your X1 first before hardreset. I mean COMPLETELY: remove your battery for at least 5s, then attach it and hard rest your device.
Thanks alot guys, actually the problem got solved by now, I treid a method I hadn't heard of before where you hold your two softkeys and under the battery cover give the "stylus hole" a push..
Worked just fine! Thanks alot to everyone bothering to help me, it's thanks to you guys I now have a working X1
Kinds regards / Anton.
the reason why its hard for people to hard reset from when its off is because they're holding the power button as well as the two silver keys!
you just hold the two silver keys and press the power key once, quickly.
keep holding the two silver keys until press R comes up!

For Those With Problems Entering Bootloader

Feel free to add this to the FAQ, I'm only making a thread of this because I know alot of people have found themselves unable to enter the bootloader using the Down Vol + Power Button combo that is normally supposed to work.
For some odd reason, it seems as if the volume button in some cases is swapped in hardware functions as it relates to the use of the phone when no software is present to run it.
Hence, if your down volume button doesn't work, try using the camera button + power button to enter bootloader mode instead.
Even if you've just Task 29'ed your device only to find that you can't enter bootloader mode normally, that method should work.

I'll be darned, it does work! Thanks Poet' !!!
Otherwise, I had bad volume button issues (stopped working, ROM independent), that I solved by shoving the mini-usb power plug into the mini-usb slot really really hard for 20 seconds or so and wiggling it a bit while pressing against on the volume key on the other side.
I know it sounds strange, but it really worked. My keyboard issues also stopped after that. Theories?
WOW! My volume button is broken, and couldn't flash ROMs from microSD (didnt bother me tooo much), but it works again This is a god send! Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, but its physically phucked! Slight crack near the volume button, but only the volume button doesent work, sometimes it does work if pressure is applied to the case near the crack, but rarely Not too bad though, i can live with it, after all, we can change volume with the 6.5.X top bar as its not fidly, or even in 6.5 by disabling HTC notifications (which i hate anyway)
I did try ramming the mini usb power plug into it, different pressure while pushing it, moving it while it was inside etc, no such luck and i am a brute with this phone. I love how it can take a drop/punch/scratch. Built solid
a silly volume button doesent really decrease my fuctionality, or doesent do much to stop me changing volume! lol cant complain.

Dudes with volume key unresponsive problems:
See my post in the general forum about how to solve the volume key problem. At least for me, turns out that very slight *downward* pressure on the USB port solved the problem. Crazy, I know.

Hi guys,
is there any possible i ask (maybe) the same problem?
maybe i had the same problem here. it wont enter to the bootloader. my phone just won't turn on, i already try to use the power button and volume button (not working), try to use power button + Cam button (won't work either). btw when i charge my X1, the illuminations light didn't show up, when i try to charge w/o the battery only red light on the power button, but once i put the battery again the lights turn off. is there any possible that my phone totally dead? thanks guys, appreciate for your help.
