Help with Bluetooth and Fresh 1.1 - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason when my phone connects to a headset that supports both audio and phone the audio will not auto connect. I have to open the bluetooth options and hold down on the device i want to connect to then check the audio box.

sounds similar to the problem I'm having... I connect my phone via bluetooth to my car (Ford Sync) and I need to turn bluetooth off then on at least once (if not twice) for the car to recognize the phone.
I am getting so fustrated with this phone... Its been replaced twice (like replacing hardware is going to fix a software bug).
i really want to stay with an Android phone... maybe the Samsung Moment? it appears as if 2.x is now available (unofficially?) since Samsung released the Kernel source like they were supposed to.
TL

It worked before fresh 1.1 so maybe it was just a change in something.

I'm using the stock software and I have the problem so it is not freshrom

man we need an update HTC!!!!!!!

q1 almost over so we're that much closer to getting our official 2.1 update.

I've also got a bluetooth problem - would really appreciate any help you can offer.
I have a Tomtom and headphoned in my Bike Crash Helmet. I want to connect so I can hear music and phone calls through the phone in my helmet and also hear the TomTom.
The Tomtom connects to the Helmet, the phone connects to the Tomtom and I can get calls through the speakers via the Tomtom but music won't play (apart from an annoying second or two after dropping a call).
If I can get the phone to advertise headset features I could connect the Tomtom to the phone and the phone to the speakers (think that would work), otherwise I believe the Tomtom is not advertising media audio, only phone audio and don't expect I can change that.
Any thoughts...?
PS - Have tried the market headset app - unfortunately it doesn't fix the problem...

Tilt Bluetooth audio works on AVIC D3 but not BT phone

having trouble getting my Pioneer AVIC D3 to connect with the bluetooth on my Tilt; the bluetooth audio works just fine, but i cannot make or recieve calls on the Navi system and its pissing me off. i already made sure the device is visible and bluetooth sharing is turned on (idk if i need it on but trying this anyways)
anyone else have a similar problem or a suggestion?
ugh, i want an AVIC so bad. but my truck is only 1.5 din. wold require a custom install
My silly thoughts:
1. Your Tilt doesn't need to be discoverable, you AVIC does.
2. If the AVIC doesn't show under settings-connections-bluetooth, then you haven't created a proper partnership.
3. If it does show there, then you should tap & hold that entry and see if you get "Set Headset" or "Set Handsfree". If you don't then the device isn't reporting a BT profile for phone use to the Tilt.
If you go through all of that and it doesn't work, I'd check with Pioneer for software/firmware upgrades for the AVIC. It may be an issue that they've fixed with updated code.
bump, tried the above with no luck. my sony S710a works fine and this is REALLY pissing me off; i spent almost $500 on the phone and another 1,000 on the damn navi system, if this doesnt work out soon im selling the Tilt and going back to the Sony
It is more of a problem with the pioneer unit rather then the phone. I have the tilt (flashed to htc) and have a problem of auto pairing. Everytime I get in the car I have to turn bluetooth off/on to get the deck (9800bt) to see the phone. This is something pioneer knows about a realesd a patch for the avic z2 (is that right) to fix the problem.
check this place out for more info (sorry don't have a direct link)

thanks im a member at avic411 as well as here and have had no success thus far; looks like SIM swapping with my Sony S710a is the best i can do. too bad because skipping songs or going thru my playlists via bluetooth is freakin sweet.
yah, i have the avic-d3 and the att/tilt, im so almost about to take the phone back. Even my crappy iphone paired withno issue. Please post if you figure it out.
Sad to see there has been no progress. I just got my new Kaiser, and I can only use it for bluetooth music and not as hands free with Avic D3. What a piss offf!!!!!!!!!!
I believe its a conflict with WM. I have the Pioneer 6800DVD and bt adapter and the same issue with my Treo 750 and Tilt.
I was able to get it to work on my treo using a bt program called jetware. I haven't tried it on my tilt yet. but it might work
I can confirm that the Jetware patch works great with my Tilt! You MUST uncheck bluetooth stereo (on your tilt) and only use the handsfree feature.

A2DP Bluetooth Audio interrupts

Hi Guys,
i have this problem for a long time and didn't find anything about it in web or in xda forums.
I have a HTC Dream + HBH-IS 800 Sony Ericsson Headset.
When i listen to music via A2DP the connection is not very stable...
the connection interrupts very often for about 2 or 3 seconds, then works for about 3 seconds.
This only happens when i am outside, not in buildings. I this the reason is because of interferences. The connection gets better when i move the G1 into a specific orientation (upper side up) and don't turn my head to the right
On my old Windows mobile phone i played around with bitpool (=ratio between quality and connection stability by constant bitrate) settings... is there a possibility to get the connection more stable, when playing around with this setting?!
How can this setting be changed on android?
Further information:
-ROM Cyanogen 4.2.5 but same problem on stock ROM
-HTC Dream has been replaced one by a new device -> same problem
-Headset was never exchanged, but worked perfectly on my old Touch Pro with WM 6.1
Thanks for your help
There is a known issue on the Bluetooth stack and is suppose to be fixed in the Elclair 2.0 fix, the temporary work around is to first pair and connect then disconnect and reconnect it again i'm having to do that several times a day when i use my RocketFish bluetooth stereo headset. Hope that helps
thanks for this workaround, will try it tomorrow and will post if it works for me too
hmm, didnt really work for me... no change after pairing disconnecting and connecting again.
i wonder why this only happens outside, not in buildings... another frequencys which interferences maybe?!
Be sure to disable wifi.
Not trying to hi-jack your thread. If you want me to open another i will. However this is a BT question as well.
my G1 is set to connect to my stereo in my car. Pioneer BT head unit. I find that i have to manually tell it to connect every time i get in the car. When i had a blackberry before it would just connect every time on its own without me doing anything once i made the initial connection.
Any ideas?
thanks.

Worked on Dell Streak A1.6
I have Dell BH200 headset as well, and I have the same exact problem its like the audio stutters but when I first connect it its more stutter than music so you can barely even understand the music until after 30secs when it starts to normal out.
ATM im runnning Stock 1.6 for G1, im going to try Cyanogenmod 6.0 tomorrow and see if anything changes.
but everyday I go back and forth with my laptop and phone since my headphones run for atleast 3-4 days.
wow, finally someone having the same problem.
and even the same description of the connection issues.
I recently bought a orange SanFran and, as the device is fairly cheap, a nokia bh-504 along with it.
The connection isnt stable even when I put it in my breast pocket.
As soon as I move my head to the right, the streaming stops. Completely.
I can easily stop the music when holding my hand in front of the right earpiece.
so i will try the disconnect / connect again "workaround", but I don't think that will help.
I paired the same headset with my gf's netbook and I could walk through the whole apartment and the signal was stable even through up to 4 walls.
so no one here knows how to tweak BT settings in android?

Bluetooth nexus one connecting to Renault carkit

I recently got my new Renault Scenic car and discovered a rather strange situation.
The phone pairs with the carkit and connects the first time without issues and works like a charm.
But however when I start the car and thus also the carkit the phone connects also but no audio is heared trough the carkit when calling or getting called. The phone says it transfers the connection to the carkit but nothing is heared.
It only works when I have bluetooth off, starts the car and then turning bluetooth on the phone on. Wait till it connects and make a call. With this procedure the connection is good till I step out the car.
Its a work around but hmmm not the one i would love to.
I have a nexus one rooted with the latest MCR (21) and an intersect kernel. Though I tried different kernels also but no go.
Hopefully one of you guys have an idea
Ok I searched a bit and found out the Bluetooth is done with the opensource code Bluez. So I wonder which version of Bluez is in the froyo roms and how it can be updated if possible to a new version.
Anyone knows ?
I feel your pain, I have a Renault Grand Scenic III (purchased last December) and the hands-free is unreliable, but music streaming (A2DP) is even worse as most often than not it will fail to connect.
I have to say that the hands-free works fine most of the times (for the phone part, not for music), but some days it will refuse to work no matter what. Since it isn't working much better with my wife's Nokia (BTW, which I had to do a firmware update or else it went into a permanent reboot loop when connected to the car-kit), I assume the problem lies on the car, not on the phone. I have yet to see if my Hero, which has been recently updated to Android 2.1, behaves any better. A firmware update on the Bluetooth car-kit seems a better approach, but I'm unaware if one exists since after some digging it seems my car doesn't use the OEM Parrot kit that other earlier models carried.

Hi,
I've just come across your post. Did the situation improve ?
I'd just point out that for me it comes from the Android system : I own a Renault Mégane 3 and was able to fully use the bluetooth system with my HTC HD2 (Windows Mobile 6.5). Now, I've just installed Android 2.2 on it and I encounter a similar behavior... and the car can't connect to the phone directory either...
Looks like I'll boot back on Windows Mobile when driving...
Regards,
Stéphane
My Hero with the official 2.1 ROM is now 100% reliable. The Nexus One with Froyo isn't, A2DP is still hit & miss.
Well... I'm getting the same but not with Renault ones.
I have LiquidAUX on my car and to have both phone and a2dp synced, I have to restart phone BT and LiquidAUX every time I go into car. And most of the times I can only have 1 connection each time, or phone is on and a2dp is off or a2dp is on and phone is off. It's really annoying since I had an HTC Hero with Android 2.2 and it used to work with no problems...
Hello, I've the same issue with my new Renault and Nexus LG. The phone pairs with the carkit and connects the first time without issues and works like fine. Once someone calls, the connection is terrible or lost! I checked the phone compatibility list at Reanoult and the NEXUS LG is on that list. So it should work. Updated R-link2, same issue. I went to the Renault garage and they told me that this is a bug in the Renault software, they can't do anything about it. Can't believe this, there should be a solution or fix.

[Q] Car hands free - problems

Hi guys,
I am having problems with car BlueTooth hands free and Samsung Galaxy S:
With Eclair 2.1 it was working flawlesly, connected automaticlay after paired, I could make phonecals, receive phonecals, no quality issue, phonebook worked fine etc... The only problem was that once I did not swithced the BT on my SGS before starting to drive, for some security reasons the car was not searching for phones while driving, so I had to turn the BT in car off and on again and then it connected well. But overal problem free...
With latest 2.2 Froyo (i9000xfjp7) and also previous Froyo distributions (i tried JPA if I remember correctly), the phone can be paired, it connects to the car but after one phonecall it looses connection and works no more. The strange thing is, the BT icon on the phone shows brackets (like when connected) and also the car shows the phone is still connected. But phonecalls cannot be made via car HF and also cannot be received through it. Only by manualy accepting or dialing on the phone. And naturally the sound goes only via the phone, no HF.
The strange thing is, when I turn off the car and leave it, the phone says it is still connected to it, which is impossible.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

That is weird... When I switch back to Eclair, it works OK, back to Froyo, no HF after one phonecall...
I dont know how to work with ROMs, I managed to find out how to flash firmwares, I even handled many problems with Odin and its moods, incomplete flashes, etc... But I dont know how to use these custom ROMs...
Anyway, i would appreciate if someone told me how to resolve it without custom ROMs, as I plan to use offical Froyo when it becomes available, but with this issue, it is useless for me, as I travel a lot...
No one else?
I'm having a related problem.
I'm getting music stream cut outs (1 sec max) when streaming bluetooth to caraudio WHILE wifi on.
If i disable wifi, bluetoothaudio works fine. I know they share range bt/wifi, but this is unacceptable. They should negotiate. Everytime wifi scans, i get cutouts. Unusable. Only workaround is disabling wifi (and thats annoying because i have to be constantly activating/disabling it everytime i enter somewhere with wifi etc.
Using Docrom xxjpo v8 with voodoo.
Anyone has some software fix that makes wifi behave better when bluetooth musictream on?

[Q] Car bluetooth volume very low

I have an older car (2004 BMW 330ci) with built-in factory bluetooth. All of my previous smartphones would connect to it with varying degrees of success. Because of this variation, I believe the car's bluetooth system to be "less than universal" as far as compatibility is concerned. The problem is, my new HTC One is all but useless with it! The volume during calls is barely above a whisper, and callers report that they can barely hear me. Also, while it hasn't disconnected any calls, outside of a call the phone alternatively displays " bluetooth connected" and " bluetooth disconnected", cycling about every 10 seconds.
From previous experience, I know there's a significant software component to compatibility with this system. For example my stock Nexus S 4G would connect and work well but would occasionally drop the connection. But then the paranoid android rom on the same phone would not only never drop a connection, it would transmit sms text messages and my contacts directory to the car as well. No other phone or rom has done that.
So.. some questions...
1.) Anyone else having this problem? If so, what kind of vehicle?
2.) Any other BMW drivers not having this problem with the HTC One? If so, year and model?
3.) This is probably an ignorant "noobish" one, but... is it possible to extract the bluetooth software from the nexus paranoid android rom and bring it over to the HTC One?
4.) Know of any HTC One roms that make changes to the bluetooth software?
5.) Any other advice you can give that may help?
I've tried Volume+ to no avail. Version 1.9 states it isn't fully compatible with the One's android version, and version 2.0 alpha doesn't yet have bluetooth functionality.
Thanks for your help! If I discover a solution, I'll post an update.

Hi,
I have a 2006 bmw z4 (e85) and I'm having exactly the same problem with sound level via bluetooth.
My previous phones (htc sensation xe and htc touch pro 2) worked flawlessly with the car
I would also love to find a solution to it, because there's no bluetooth firmware upgrade available at BMW's..
Same issue, but it only arose with the 4.3 update. Before that Bluetooth had other issues even recognizing my stereo, now it connects flawlessly but cycles the "Connected" and "Disconnected" message every couple seconds. 2006 avalon, but with custom stereo and system.
I think that one's bluetooth stack uses some different compression method than sensation. I dont know whether its some kind of codec or encryption method, because system sounds are loud and clear and a person's voice is quiet and with some interference.
Hope that someone will find a solution to this problem - probably downgrading bluetooth stack would solve the problem

I have a similar problem with my Acer Liquid E2 duo phone connecting to Dension 500S BT kit installed in my Audi. It works all fine when I place a call from the phone. But if I dial from my media interface, i get a very low call volume and adjustment using the car volume control doesn't work any more.
A little thread revival
After upgraiding my htc one to android 4.4 kitkat the problem is partially solved, meaning the bluetooth volume is slightly higher, but only slightly - still cannot get a clear loud sound I used to have while using htc sensation with stock ICS.
Any luck with you, guys?

Try Viper4Android, you must be rooted tho.

any fixes to this problem yet ??
Try using "HTC car" app
I had the same problem for six months and just found a solution that works for me.
I just found out that the HTC One Bluetooth audio connection (A2DP) plays with a very different volume depending on whether the "HTC car" app is active or not.
For six months I have been playing music daily in my car using HTC One (media app: Qobuz) as source and Bluetooth as connection. The source volume was very low, so that I had to keep the audio car audio system near maximum level. Eventually, this abnormal use of my car audio system destroyed it: I had to replace the receiver, and may have to replace the speakers too.
Only this morning, after six months, I found out that when launching the media app from within the "HTC car" app, the output volume is much louder, and I can set the receiver's volume at a normal level.
I guess HTC does this to prevent ear damage when the One is connected to a Bluetooth headset. Great, but they should mention it in the HTC One user instructions, or at least on their website! It destroyed my car audio system!!
HTC One (M7)
Android 4.4.2
HTC Sense 6.0
Stock ROM
Rooted
In my case car mode doesnt solve the problem - its a bluetooth compatibility issue I suppose
