Hi,
I think about getting an HTC Touch Diamond, it will arrive with t-mobile or o2 sim-lock. Is there any way to remove a sim-lock from an HTC Touch Diamond? If yes, please post me some links. I was searching the forums, but there is too much desinformation.
thanks in advance
take care,
m00h
Not even one answer till today? Can't believe that.
Look in the dev part. There's one who can help you out.
-edit- not for free though...
Our T-Mobile MDA devices came without a SIM lock here in the Netherlands.. The Vodafone branded one did however
TMO Germany seems to sell their's without SIMlock, too (mine came unlocked out of the box also...). Dunno about o2, though. there are a bunch of websites who are doing SIM unlocks via IMEI. will cost you something about 25 €s.
Sorry if this has been discussed, I did use the search function but those things are next to useless, or maybe that’s just me.
Anyway,
Bought an HTC Diamond from Carphone warehouse 3 months back, it was on an Orange contract.
The phone is an HTC branded phone, no Orange logos or Orange menus or ANY sort, in fact the only thing Orange about it, is the sim card!
Tried to download the latest ROMS from HTC's site and I can’t have them, they told me to speak to Orange, I did. Orange told me that it's not there problem as I never got the phone from them, and HTC are to sort it out.
So now no one will touch my phone, HTC are insisting that Orange deal with it and vice/versa.
Do I have a legal entitlement to latest firmware/ROM updates?
Any advice on who I can speak to?
I'm currently waiting tfor HTC to call back after telling them there computer is WRONG and I have an HTC device not an Orange one!
I'm frustrated and annoyed, customer service! Really? well i'd like some service and a faster phone would be great!
Cheers.

You seem to be on a war path leading to nowhere.
Why don’t you just take the easy route and download one of the official ROMs from this forum.
If your really against that then just give it to carphonewarehouse to repair, it will come back with the latest ROM on it. Just let them know you have various software issues.
Oh and legally in the UK your contract is with the retailer, in this case carphonewarehouse
I have tried on numorus attempts to download ROMs from here and have yet to find one that I can get to work on my phone.
Also the thought of flashing my phone is not appealing to me as I have ALOT of very sensitive and important infomation on it.
I understand what your saying about using this site rather than chasing them down but really I shouldnt have too, the customer service shold be there, regardless of where I bought the phone.
As for going tot he carphone warehouse, thanks I'll try that on Monday.
Cheers
Even if you use a genuine HTC rom it will have the same effect as as cooked rom from here. They basically format a reload the os on the rom. The internal storage does not get touched.
I would personally back up the data you have.. flash it. That way your not stuck with orange or HTC
you are entitled to the official "Orange" ROM update when it comes out (IF it comes out - orange tend not to release updates)
If you want to update your ROM you can but you WILL loose all your data on the phone (not internal storage) unless you back it up. You will also have to re-install all of you software.
to update to the latest ROM download RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE_1.93.405.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe from http://www.duttythroy.net/download-area.html?task=viewcategory&catid=8&site=2&start=10 (this is the official 1.93 ROM from HTC)
before you flash it you probably need to install hardspl http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211 This is because your phone will be locked to Orange (although as you got it from CPW it might not be)
So in summary:
Backup
Flash Hard SPL
Flash 1.93
restore data
reload programs
Hope this helps
The contract you have with orange is purely for the airtime, the phone is there to allow you to make the calls, generate orange profit!
AFAIK orange have no legal obligation to help you with the phone, when they do its more of a courtesy thing.
Now if you had bought, an orange branded mobile from an orange store you'd be in a lot stronger position, as it is an official orange product with their branding I believe they'd have to help you.
I used to deal with orange and windows mobile from a business point of view, we had better support that the average customer and orange only ever released one firmware upgrade in the time I dealt with them, and that was to address a problem we were experiencing with roaming.
Backup your phones data, (spb backup) and install one of the far superior ROM's from this site (after getting yourself familiar with the upgrade process)
Then look at another sevice provider, one who offers better customer support (in general) better data packages, and cheaper contracts.
NB: None of this post is from a professional legal adviser and should not be used as such, its from my experience of orange, and a bit of trading standards experience....
Please Read Before You Rant
this has 100's of posts on this matter on this forum
flash the phone and all is well.....or just live with what you have
don't hold your breathe for a orange rom update
you can't just download a rom and it will work....
what ever rom you want always read the 1st post and follow it to the letter
wecome to windows mobile 6.1
New Orange ROM is here...

Any fellow canucks with the rogers branded HTC Diamond?
Mine's on order and I can't wait to start modifying and tweaking the ROM... Any pointers on what to do first would be great. I will share my experiences later on so others with rogers diamonds will know what to do...
Thanks,
hey mr_yellow
i'm interested to see how the rogers branded diamond performs.
i have diam100 model from asia with .05 radio, which works quite well on the 850mhz band.
I'm hoping for some miracle for a radio with 3G support. Maybe u can shed some light on that when it's in your hands?
What do you mean exactly by on order? I have not seen it on the website and none of the reps seem to know anything obout it. Anyways, I was tired of waiting I took the plunge and got the HD.
The HTC Diamond is actually in the system now... Official Launch is Dec 3rd (tomorrow). but I got a rep that knew about it and I'm having it shipped to me.
too bad you went with the HD. you're going to miss the 3.5G. 7.2mbit HSDPA connection!
Yea I just called,
They said they do have the HTC Diamond and when I asked about pricing, he said he couldn't tell me much, all I saw there, 3yrs/649$

Well I am a relative noob, but from what I understand from nunerous sources including Rogers tech reps the data connection is no where near the "maximum" speed. I also thought I understood that Rogers only has 3g and not 3.5g or is that the same thing? Anyways, I won't miss out because I don't have any data now. I won't pay the monthly charges for something I hardly ever use. I do use WIFI from time to time since I live in downtosn Toronto and there are quite a few hotspots around.
yep
Just got mine tonight.
Still tweaking. haven't reflashed or unlocked it yet.
So far, so great. Faster than my Tytn was, but still subjective.
Will update you as things go.

Nice man!
How is it? Did they add anything to it or?
Is it written rogers anywhere on it? (just asking haha )
I'm debatting like you may have seen on my other thread if i should buy it factory unlocked or branded from rogers...
How much did you get it for btw?
all good
its good so far, still loading things to get it functional like my old tytn.
Rogers mostly left it alone. Some bloatware, but just links to vision stuff.
I thinks its CID /SIM locked, so I gotta unlock before I flash anything.
no rogers logos on the device, just on the box.
really nice phone so far, gotta learn to live with the 4gb, had a 16gb in my tytn....
I'm Tier4, so my CSR quoted me 299 with a 3yr re-sign...
Rogers Name Display
!!! to all whom have a new rogers diamond !!!
i need your help getting name display to work on my unlocked euro/asia version diamond.
a thread exists already trying to solve this, see here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347882
as you can see there are a lot of wm users using a variety of devices on rogers having this issue.
please upload your rilgsm.dll file in windows folder or any .dll beginning with "ril", here.
now i'm gonna need help getting this working so if you are exprienced with wm plz help. i have had my diamond since May, and have been waiting since for this rom to be avaliable.
if you can dump the whole rom and post it that will be more helpful, as i can post the link in the general dev and hacking, and it will be pounced on by those user also.
i am so tired of seeing "unknown caller" every time someone calls lol
I think it will help the community a lot if we can figure out how to grab a copy of the official Rogers ROM (so that we can reflash back to stock if something goes wrong).
After that, we can focus on things like App/CID/SIM unlocking...
Name display at Rogers/Fido
I agree with Blazeitup123
I also fed up with unknown caller
I pay for the Name Display and I dont have it.
nanastas: Could you upload the rilgsm.dll
Thanks
Anyone unlocked their Rogers HTC Diamond yet. I'm thinking of doing it, sim unlocking and maybe flashing a better ROM.
Anyone tried already please post results.
Thanks.

hey how did you manage to get the phone for such an amazing price without data plan. can you please pm me. thanks.
Just got mine today. Nice change from the Hermes.
The only problem is that they sent me the french version. Not a big deal since there is no keyboard and I will be flashing a new english ROM anyway.
I got mine on the first day it was launched. So far it is really a good little phone (I am coming off using a 2G iPhone)
The tweaks I found here had made the phone even better!
why need CID unlocked, and SIM Unlocked.?

Hey everyone, I am a noob, I admit it, Well to this whole phone PDA thing. I have experience with flashing psp's etc, and now my way around electronics. But anyhow, I just bought a AT&T HTC 8925 Tilt TyTN II Kaiser off of Ebay. It suppose to have Windows Mobile 6.0 on it and unlocked. So I can use my tmobile sim card in it. Well what I was wondering is, can I upgrade it to 6.1 or maybe 6.5 and not hurt the fact that it is unlocked? Don't want to upgrade the firmware or whatever you call it, and it becomes locked on me! Also what is this radio thing I read about thru out the forums? Is it like what it sounds like? Radio = listen to FM /AM radio stations, or you laughing at me now and should update me on what it is, thanks

First thing you need to do is read the Kaiser wiki, all the answers to your questions are there without the need to start a new thread. Lecture over
Once unlocked always unlocked no matter if you upgrade the rom. The radio " they " talk about, is the firmware that operates the sound , camera and receiver in the phone. Different " radios " work better with different roms. The Kaiser has no radio per se,
Welcome to XDA, you will enjoy it . A great place to learn just remember to follow the posting rules
Quick story:
I bought it off dell.com like 2 years ago. I saw there was an update for it, so I went on HTC's website and put in my S/N. It said it didn't recognize it. I tried returning it to dell, but it was after the 15 day return period. So, I got screwed...and out of frustration I just cut my losses, forgot to put it on ebay, and threw it in the closet.
What should I do? I'm thinking about just installing a custom rom on it and throwing it to a friend but there are too many....any recommendations on what my next step should be?
Oh yea, to note, this is the GSM version of the HTC Touch Diamond. I've seen roms for the CDMA version...but not the GSM
I have a same issue but I always use custom rom therefore I don't care about it.
Is it a branded diamond?
The HTC site doesn't allow you to update branded Diamonds. For example, it doesn't recognize the S/N for my O2 branded Diamond.
Just put in a custom rom, they're much better than the official ones albeit more prone to bugs. Try different roms to see which you like best. Don't forget the flash the HARD SPL first.

normal ROMs are for GSM, if it says CDMA, then its for the CDMA.
Hi guys
I head the same problem during a support.
It is surely due to the fact that the mobile is "branded".
