Headphone double press action (Rogers Sense UI) - myTouch 3G, Magic Accessories

I recently installed the Rogers update for the 1.5 Sense UI, and I am very happy with the new UI (its faster and prettier). The only problem that I am having is that the button on my headphones used to skip to the next song when double pressed, but now it redials the last number I called.
How do I change the action of the double press?

According to the HTC Sense manual, you have to press and hold the button to go tothe next song.

Changing the default music player to a third party player like Meridian will make use of double press.

Yeah, there's a lot of 3rd party apps that support this, but the HTC music player is nifty with it's lockscreen integration and widgets, so i'd rather they implement the gesture. I already allerted HTC, but i doubt it will change anything. There's droidshuffle, but that's for 2.1, and i already checked it with some modded roms for the magic, and it doesn't work for the htc music player app :/

It's because Sense UI assumes you have a 3.5mm equipped handset.
The HTC Magic is the only Sense UI phone without one.

Music Player While Locked issue

hello i have a problem i usually use my phone to play music ... now when my phone locks i have to unlock it with my pattern and ect to skip songs its aggravating ... does anyone know a fix for this ?? thanks
Yeah there kind of is. You can remap some buttons to act as pause/play and next track. I made it so I can press the Search button to go to the next track and the Call button to play/pause.
You can learn how to do it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695936
Read the whole thing. Somewhere in the middle towards the end it goes over the commands for music control. Make sure you pay attention to the last sentence:
The added attribute "WAKE" allows it to complete the action without waking the phone.

Sorry, doubt there is a way to access anything before the lock pattern; that's why the lock pattern is there.

oo even when there was no pattern....the pop up music player still isnt there
What rom are you running? If it is sense based and you're using the htc luck screen, there will be music controls on the lock screen. If it's sense based and you're using vanilla or rotary lock screen, you're out of luck. If you're on darch droid (and probably froyo, but haven't tried), you can hold volume up or down to skip songs when screen is off, but no way to pause/play

thanks for the help ... im using darch .. and im using launcher pro ... it has the regular lock on it ... .. ur trying to tell me i need to have it on the sense home screen? thanks
just hold the volume buttons to skip, and use the hard key remap to change a button to play/pause. You can set a double tap on the track ball to skip forward in the music app.

,.... i just tryed to double click the ball but it didnt work .. with pattern enabled and disabled !!! ... i also have the double click feature checked in the settings of the music player.... im thinking about going to fresh ... and c if this is fixed..
edit i dont have darch i have damage control ...
well i switched to fresh and it works ... only problem now the widget sucks ... its that basic htc one eww
i think the reason it didnt work was because i was using the vanilla music player instead of the old regular music player .... solved !! In order to have the Music player while Phone is locked u Must use the older original music player to listen to music ....

Headset / Lockscreen Audio Controls

So after putting this issue on the back burner for a while I'm bringing it back up.
For a long time I had both the headset controls and lockscreen controls for audio working fine on both the stock rom and CM 5-6. Using both the iPhone headset and the Skullcandy Full Metal Jackets with mic/single button control. All was working great with the hero music player, pandora, grooveshark and last.fm.
At some point (around release #142) of updating the CM 6 nightlies both controls stopped working.
Fast forward to now, I have been running ASOP rom running 2.3 and just the other day did another complete wipe and installed CM 7. Still with a complete wipe of the phone and re-installation of these roms I don't have any control of the audio apps either by the headset or the lockscreen controls.
I've tried apps like headset button controller and other sorts of audio players but none work.
Now another note, I just tried debug mode in 'headset button controller' and it's recognizing all my button presses. long click, double and tripple clicks.
So, there's something with the commands not getting to the player apps.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated, it's a major pain in the ass when working out or riding the bike to have to stop/unlock/go to app... just to switch a song.
Have you tried long-pressing the volume up or down buttons while the screen is off?

yeah, I have that option set in the CM settings but that just raises and lowers my volume.
To add some info to the issue, I've been trying some alternate music players to no avail. So I'm figuring the problem has something to do with the os not passing the input commands to the audio apps...

Well after another cclean install I stopped the Google auto restoration of apps and started adding my apps back manually and found the problem to be with stitched radio. I'm going to send a message to the dev so he can fix the problem.

[Q] Remapping volume keys

Hello, i have a question about one modification... i would like to have volume controls rempaped to following:
Volume up (short press): Volume up
Volume down (short press): Volume down
Volume up (long press): Next song in playlist (HTC Sense player)
Volume down (long press): Previous song in playlist (HTC Sense player)
I imagine there are some applications out there that can handle the short-press and long-press mapping, but the mapping to HTC Sense player might be really really tricky. Pressing up key (on joystick) jumps to next song, pressing down to previous song, but it works only when media player tab is selected... any other tab uses joystick for other purposes. any suggestions for realization are welcome
I would also appreciate mapping shallow press and release of camera button to play/pause, while shallow press followed by deep press would result in launch of camera (as was intended by sony) but that's not too important as i can simply mute the radio player.
The thing is i use this phone as a MP3 player for my car radio, it is far more intuitive to use hardware buttons instead of touchscreen, not to mention safety... I'm used to this keymapping from good old K750i, unfortunately for xperia, other OS, other habbit.

[Q] Poweramp skip track on HTC ONE Dual

I just installed Poweramp and was surprised that on holding up/down volume buttons the track wasn't skipped.
Went through settings but didn't found any options for that, like on print screen from that thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543927.
Does that mean that Poweramp not supporting up/down buttons to skip track any more or the reason in my custom rom?
Is there any way to enable that feature on HTC ONE dual ?
I am on Maximus HD rom http://llabtoofer.com/2013/07/23/htc-one-dual-sim-maximushd/
I just find out the app for that reason https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.silentlexx.volbtntrackctrl&hl=en

[Q] How to change the music lockscreen button function?

I have my s5 mini for just a month and when I started using it, I was really pleased with the lock screen when playing music. There was a play/pause button and forward and back button. With the forward and back button I could swap between songs. But about 2 weeks ago the function changed and the forward and back buttons are now used to change the volume. This is really disappointing because I can simply change the volume with the hardware volume buttons on my phone, and if I want to go to the next or previous song, instead of just simply doing so from the lock screen I have to unlock my phone and do it there. Is there a way to tweak the settings of music lock screen? I have gone through all the settings and I don't seem to find anything. Please help!
I don't know how to return them back, just to say that I have the last firmware and the buttons are still present and work, so it will probably be related to some setting you made.
Did you make any changes to the music player or something like that?
(btw did you know that by double clicking the play/pause button on headphones you can skip the song also)

Well, I use Rocket Player. It's definitely the best music player I know. And yeah, I know about headphones (with Rocket player I can even go to previous song by clicking two times and go forward by clicking three times) but still I would love to have this function on the lock screen too. I have changed the settings of Rocket Player to fit my personal preferences. But I have never changed the lock screen buttons settings. All I have found there in the settings of Rocket Player is the look of Lockscreen and I have tried all of them, nothing changes the function.
