Windows update - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Cant make windows update in my device. Why ? How to resolve ?

what kind of ROM are you going to update?
if it is not official you must do HARD SPL first than you can update to any ROM.
if you have lastest official ROM and need to update to official it would not happened because you steel have last version

Re: ROM UPDATE

Re: ROM UPDATE
Hi all my questions may sound dumb but I am a newbie and want to learn!
I have read the wiki but couldn’t find what I was after.
I am thinking about updating my ROM software from 1.40.00 WWE to the latest one offered on the 02 website which is a v1.40.242.
I am running windows mobile 2003 2nd edition version 4.21.1088. Does anybody if I update my ROM will I have to re-install the Windows mobile 2003? As I bought this phone 2nd hand off ebay I don’t have any recovery cds for the windows mobile software. What does the Software update and does it install a operating system when it updates or does it keep the one I am running?
As it is if I update my xda 2s with the latest rom from the o2 website would it mean that after the update my xda would run on the same windows mobile 2003 software or would one be installed with the ROM update?
Also has anyone updated with the latest o2 rom update and has it made their xda 2s more stable? I am not sure whether I should update as I don’t want any more trouble than I already have with my xda! Any help will be appreciated by a newbie in distress!
Thanks
Rio
hi there,
usually the latest rom provided by your vendor, mean there could be big fixes, performance enhancement over the current one, read changelog to be sure of though.
if you decide to go ahead and update it
1. NO YOU DONT NEED RECOVERY CD
2. you will need to reload your own installed application after update.
3. rom update = total current os wipe out and reload a new one, all done by update process itself. so dont worry about that
most ppl in this forum has already given up on the current and stable official rom (windows mobile 2003 SE).
few the guys here like Logout, Tuma and othere are working on a stable release of windows mobile 2005. and we are greatful for their hard work
imatrix
No one has recovery CDs for these phones. While a minor upgrade from your operator is common, having a major upgrade to e.g. WM5 is very rare.
Updating the phone is like a ROM flash on your computers BIOS. So long as you are connected to mains and don't pull the plug, errors are very rare. Especially with the official ROMs.
Finally, all ROM updates improve stability. They wouldn't spend time and money on them just without a big benefit. Testing and releasing a ROM is quite a big deal for the telcos.
EDIT: oops, posted the same time as imatrix. Twice the answers for the same price!
Thanks guys for your help, hoepfully i will be updating my ROM from the o2 website will try the official update since i am new to all this!!! depending how i get on with the uopdate then I may try others!
Once again thanks and im glad there is help outhere as i dont know what id do without this forum!!!
Thanks

Hey RIO
i did the exact same upgrade with my O2 UK version with 1.40 about a week ago.. once i got that done... i went ahead and upgraded to 2005... which is so much better then the 2003.... so i would suggest upgrading to the IVAN LATEST 2005 ROM WITH RAMDISK... if you don't care much about how the software looks and works.. then just upgrade it with the latest SHIPPED (o2) Rom.. it improoves lot of bugs.. but one problem i had with latest o2 rom is that the Hearing vollume of the phone goes down a little.. not too much...

HTC TD2 Rom Upgrade

just saw this on their website..
http://www.htc.com/sea/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=249&act=sd&cat=2
has anybody tried the rom? will try this out tonight..
my bad, i guess its the old one..thought they already launch the 6.5
Still, it seems to be an upgrade for mine... Did the upgrade went well?
Oh well... Even if this appears to be an upgrade; I can't download it...
this one has the same rom version with my td2 so no need to upgrade..
still waiting for the 6.5 upgrade

Are you prepared for a long wait?
If past performance from HTC is anything to go by we are in for a long wait.
Still there is no device (?) introduced that has generic Win 6.5 as the shipped ROM.
Rapidshare Link
Can somebody upload the rom in rapidshare??

Is your phone unlocked ? Is it a cooked 6.5 or an official ? If it is an official upgrade you can't go back without unlocking your phone and flashing 6.1 as a cooked rom.
This is a cracked version, from this forum.
Its also flashed.
I want to go back because i want norwegian keyboard!

The just look around or look in the wiki for a norwegian rom and flash it as you would any other rom.

There has never been released an official 6.5 rom for The Kaiser, So that is impossible. The kaiser he has is unlocked. So you can just download a rom and install it(Should read the post for fully compatibility).

Thanks for the redundant information, isn't that what I said in the post directly above ? Getting our post count up are we ?
P.S. This isn't the only site I try to help people with their HTC phones on, nor is the Kaiser the only platform I try to advise on. While you are correct in that 6.5 has never been released for the Kaiser, 6.5 has been released on many more european roms and devices than in the US

Hi, welcome to the forums. You only need to find the correct 6.0 stock rom and run the exe. There is a stock rom repository here http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Kaiser/
Before you go back to an old stock rom, have you considered to hard reset your device first (this will wipe all your programs, contacts etc, but you will have your actual 6.1 clean and fast rom) or checking out what programs are causing your phone to be slowly.
I hope that helps,

omnia today

hello i got my omnia today its my first wp7 phone had sgsII before i lost it
how do i install mango on this device? is there any easy guide? Odin on sgs was very easy!
in about 2 weeks, mango will be out officially, so just wait some more time and you will be able to upgrade it via zune.
i have an omnia 7 too and i would suggest you wait. no point installing the RTM build now then in two weeks installing the device specific build. you will lose games/apps etc and would have to reinstall again
so its also possible to update a brandet (T Mobile phone) to Mango ??? with Zune??
updating via Zune is the correct way, end users aren't meant to phone flashing
but all apps are very laggy even the facebook app by microsoft i lagging like ****!!
Everyone should wait for the official mango release via zune (which should also include a radio/firmware/bootloader update) . But we don't exactly know when it is going to be released. We can say that I8700XXKH2 is the final version of Mango for our omnia 7 so you can wait or flash that ROM

use I8700DTMKH2 it's perfect for you
If you have TMO DE ROM on it right now, you can update even without reflashing. You can deploy the .pks that comes with the ROM (and reflash just bootloader back to WP_PRODUCT later). It updates everything from 7720 MS - it includes all OEM specific driver updates (radio, SPL, drivers).

**** i dont understand a ****?!?!
is it that complicated to install a rom? On the guide it says choose rom files and install?
What?
If you have NOW TMO DE ROM, you can just UPDATE the drivers without reflashing and losing everything! That's what I was trying to say.

the forum on that swedish page is almost dead? no ones writes there?!
I have never Tried Mango RTM so i can't tell you if there is swedish or not. But remember that everytime you want to "go back" you Will have to flash kc1 Rom or others with nodo, which means loosing every kind of datas in your phone..such as games or apps.
I personally didn't flash a ROM, simply because you don't need to. I followed this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16594850&postcount=1
I ran into several hiccups myself, if you have an issue post here and I'll share my workarounds.
