[REQ] Hero Splash Screen - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

does anyone have a copy of the initial splash screen by HTC (The first one when u switch your device on) if you do could you upload it for me please

It's on the forum, please search.

Search ins't pulling up anything for the original... even though I know it's here somewhere... just need to remember what thread it was in. If I find it I'll post the link as I need a copy too

Original Bootscreen
Well i just pulled the files for you...
In the .zip u will find the relevant files (originals), you can push them to the media\bootscreen
Hope you find it useful

Good Morning.
that's not the splash screen, it's just the boot screen.. There's a big difference .
Splash Screen = first Bootscreen
Boot Screen = second Bootscreen
the splash screen has the format *.rgb555 or something like that...

back 2 topic, does anyone have got the original htc hero splashscreen? . thanks.

Default splash attached in png & zipped rgb565 formats. Do note however the latter won't be bitwise identical to the default splash, as I couldn't rip it directly (that needs a custom kernel mod). Appearance wise it is very close; iirc, it's an edit of one of the frames from the default boot animation.

Looks legit, cauli.
I have to say, the Hero splash logo has to the best stock one of them all. I am still satisfied with it to this day. No carrier or manufacturer (or ROM chef!) branding. Just a cool name, in a cool font.
Boom.

Howdy guys,
Im interested in also getting these screens but kinda lost howto. I searched for the media/bootscreen but it seems not to exist on my device. Tried it with adb.
What's the exact way to complete this?
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers,
Ivar

You're possibly mixing up how to modify the initial static boot image & the following boot animation.
For the latter you need to replace some files in the rom, location & structure depending on the android version. Try this google.
For the former, you need to have an unlocked spl on your device. This will enable you to flash the splash screen. To create your own image you'll need it in rgb565 format. There are a few tools to do this; I use rgb565converter.

Is this the one with the little green robot coming from the Hero logo or just the static Hero writing?
EDIT: If anyone's wondering here is the one with the robot forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=699259

Boot Image

how do i change it? there was Another thread about it
which said i have to replace welcomehead96.png 320x320 should be replaced with the Image you want to set as the new boot loader image
I did that welcomehead96.png etc
before changing it i Viewed it and i found it to be the typical Green coloured WM5 image which we all have
i m ok with that
and i dont want to change that
Image i want to change is the one, when i Soft Reset the Device
4 lines/bars red green yellow blue etc. appear
which stay for a while before the green wm5 image appears
I want to change those 4 Lines/bars image
what do we call that image?[it is also called as boot load image?]
Can it be changed?
you need to download .cab file with those screens, they floats around
Such a cab, after installation, save logo into extended ROM (in WM5 you still have ext ROM even if not visible)
Prior to installation you must unlock ext ROM
I don't know if it's easy to replace image in CAB with your own and would be glad to know. I would also like to know how to backup existing splash images.
hmmm
that s still not an answer
though i appreciate your concern

O2 and other providers can change it, theoritically so could we. but so far none of us know how to do it.
boot image
I asked this question some time ago 2 and the answer i got was also that it wasn't possible.
This is because the real boot image just isn't loading when you instal WM5 but when you use WM2k3 the boot image is installed with the ms_.nbf file. So maybe if you find a way to modify it you can change the boot image for WM2k3 and if you after find a way to load it with WM5 it should be (theoratically) changed.
I'm not a programmer so i still can't work with all the stuff to find it out myself. Maybe this can help a programmer to find a way to change it that would be very nice.
It would not work
WM5 has a difrend way for handling boot images, i am sure there is a way to change it , because i have seen it in many wm5 devices. But noone outside operators and microsoft does not know how to do it ...
I hope that we will find out some day

[REQUEST] Splash screen tool

Could anyone be so kind as to release a tool to flash.overwrite the default splashscreen (in flash) and the splashscreen (in ROM)
There's two screens following eachother, first one can be a animated one I believe.
It would be great to have such a tool, get the most beautiful
boot up movies done....
Anyone else who would like such a tool ?
Up....
Maybe is the same procedure for the Kaiser... Who knows
up please...
Advanced Config provides a menu for changing the splash screen. However I never tried it, but I think it is supposed to work just fine.
mhhhh.... maybe the start-up animation, not the very first boot screen which need to be flashed with the CusomRUU

AT&T Splash

Anybody have a WM6.5 ROM that retains the AT&T Splash? or, is there a way to reload the AT&T Splash/Startup sequence after flashing to a WM6.5 ROM?
Thanks!
Moved as not ROM Development and you will be able to search for splash screens in Kaiser section to find the AT&T Splash etc.

Did a search.. I found custom flash screens but not the stock AT&T splash. Looked through the splash screen list post but no joy.
thanks!
Just got the splash out of stock ROM converted from .nb to .nbh flashed to check worked it's attached also the animated.gif
Thanks bro! I'll give it a shot!
That's cool bruv
The animated.gif is original if you notice a bit of black between transition let me know as i have one edited just cut first last frame off.
Just tried the flash at&t splash you posted. The at&t logo comes up with the version numbers at the bottom right but the animation doesn't come up. Instead the custom animation that originally came with the ROM starts. Do I need to copy the gif file you posted to my tilt?
thanks!
With advanced config you can change it.
Load Advanced Config go down to HTC Animation then you will see the name, mine on ROM using is animated.gif so you would rename the animation from the .zip to animated.gif, copy to Windows Directory with Total Commander restart phone.
Thanks!! That did it. Now I see where to change the startup sound too. Thanks for the lesson!
Glad u sorted and happy to help
advanced config is well tweaky worth also looking under right softkey more functions as button mapping and comm manager setup there.
Have fun

why flashing a new rom didn't change the first boot screen?

I'm using a chinese mod rom from Hiapk.com before on my G1. (can be accessed from here, please use google translate or any translation software to get the chinese into english or your own language).
I've using it for months and later I want to try some of the nice roms found on xda. I've tried several. and flashed them under RA-recovery-1.62. Every time I reboot, the first screen is still the old one from the chinese rom. Althought it seems didn't affect the rom to work well, but still seems wired. I just want to know why a flash can't change that screen? I suppose each rom has it's own boot screen and the splash (animation) screen afterwards. Or in some roms there is no first screen?
no roms that i've ever seen contain a boot screen. only the animation that comes up second. if you want to change the boot screen, theres a nice tutorial in the themes/wallpapers forum on how to do it.

I see. thanks.
but it's still strange. when I first bought the phone, the boot screen it's different. It became like the corrent one only after I flashed the hiapk rom. Then it never changed.
now I feel maybe that rom changed it? or maybe it's the old recovery I've used changed it for me?

[Q] locating boot screen tutorials

Does anyone know where I can find instructions for modifying the 2nd boot screen?
I have no problem modifying the power on boot screen, but the one after magldr is the one i want to modify as well.
also - does anyone know where I can find the new cyanogenmod load screens? the little green banner ones? I've been searching and I can not find that little screen anywhere. I want to use that image as my first and second boot screens.
thanks everyone.
Regarding the matter of changing the splash screen, here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254686
