Cannot charge with wall outlet - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently my X1 cannot be charged with USB cable through wall outlet & even car charger , but able to charge with USB cable through PC.
Anyone do encounter the same problem?

Well that's a strange one - how long was it connected to the wall?
Without getting into the discussion about volts and amps provided, and amps drawn by the phone, any method should charge.
In terms of speed, I would think the wall would charge fastest (see above), and the USB slowest.
Did the phone show on the top bar, the charging icon when attached to the wall? Or after a period of time there was no increment in the % charge showing??
If the battery was down to 0%, you probably wouldn't see an immediate increase in the % charge. The % charge is orientative, especially at both ends of the scale.

I do agree with you. Charging with wall outlet is faster. Therefore, normally I'm charging my X1 with wall outlet, unless in office, will use PC USB.
Top bar never show charging icon, but once I charge it with PC USB, the charging icon show up immediately.
It seems like no power for the USB when connected to the wall outlet. I've tested with battery removed, plugged in USB cable connected to wall outlet, there is no charging illumination light. I cannot power on it.
I tried to recall, it happened after I used a USB charger for my MP3 player. The next day, when I tried to charge with car charger. To my surprise, the USB connection notification showed up (I do remember, while charging with wall outlet or car charger, it will never prompt me for USB connection).

I don't think, it is the ROM issue. Try a few ROM still having the same problem.
From now, I got to live with PC USB :|

X1 Charging problem
I have same problem. I can not charge via both USB-PC and Wall. In order to charge the phone, I have to switch it off and then charge it.
This happened after I used CHEAP car charger from dealexteme.com
Now everytime I want to charge my phone, I have to switch it off.

I'm using the original SE charger!? I would not think the problem with the charger, but my X1 was screwed by the incompatible MP3 USB charger

Yep same with me, not sure why mine started doing that though, I never got used a cheap charger. Maybe its the rom... I am trying a new one now.

it's not caused by the ROM, I'm very sure. I've installed different ROM. The problem still exist.

I am having a similar problem. When the phone completely discharges , i am unable to charge it with any power adapter or even car charger. I have to initially charge the phone using a PC , then after the power is around 15% , then the phone gets charged with a normal adapter.. any suggestions??

same problem. It happends when the battery is completely discharged.
what I do is use a charger w/ low amp rating (.1) and plug it in for at least 10-20min. Give it some time, it will start charging after a while (indicated by the blinking lights). After that, you can turn it on and charge it normally

I had a similar problem twice. Both times I solved it by replacing the charger.

the same happen to me and i have another issue
my xperia doesnt work as usb mass storage!!!
the solution was buying another charger but..the usb mass storage issue still not working as a flash drive!!

Does Battery Life depend on charging method?

I seem to get a longer battery life (first step down from 100%) if I charge my MDA C4 using the supplied charger as opposed to a charge from a PC using the USB lead.
If I charge using the charger, and just use 2G, I get approx 14 hours before the first drop in the batterymeter. From the PC it happens well before 11 hours.
Is this possible or am I just imagining things?

To get full capacity phone needs 5v 1000mA (= 1A) input, which is the charger outputs. If the PC USB output cannot pump that amount it might last shorter....
a PC's standard USB port only outputs 500mA (0.5A)
i think the supplied charger may be 2A (cant check atm), i know the official HTC Car Charger is 2A.
Cheers,

My original HTC charger (Model: TC P300) outputs 5v 1A
Interesting. I'll check the HTC charger when I get home.
However, Would this not mean that it would just take longer to charge the battery?
(Analagous to having to fill a bucket of water from a 1/2" bore pipe as opposed to a 1" bore pipe).

My original HTC charger is at 5V 2A.
What I did notice is that charging form USB takes much longer than charging off the wall.

It will do, should not effect the overall charge (as long as it is left long enough!)

Correct, actually water analogy is quite often used here
yes i thought that...
phone charge lasted longer with the mains charger than the usb on pc
and usb pc takes ages to charge full
So I guess we'll all be using our wall chargers now? As the charge is faster and some believe better!
Make no sense to me as to why the charge of the PCs USB cable is not as good as from the wall....
However the slow charge time bit of it makes sense
Car Charger
I have huge problem with my car charger. I use Noname USB car charger, that worked perfectly with my Trinity. Now, when i connect my Diamond it sometimes connects and disconnects the device to USB twice in two seconds and so if the battery is low message about battery fklashes in an out. SOmetimes it does not happen and the battery is charging normally. When i start IGO8 while battery is full and Diamond being charged, it sometimes LOOSES power and after couple of hours it gets out of power even when charged. Sometimes it doesnt happen and the device is charging properly, but very very slowly. When i turn device off, it charges normally. I tried two different chargers and get the same results. But none was HTC original.
It's irrelevent how the phone was charged. If the battery is full, then its full ,and it will last the same period of time irrespective of how it was charged.
Charging rates will vary depending on input current, but once the touch sensor light stays on, then the battery is full.

[Q] Can nook color plug adapter all time ?

Laptop have smart battery manager to change a/c (when plug in power) and battery when haven't power, so haven't been charged and discharged => not low level . But have nook color smart battery manager ?
Nook color can use 8 hours , if i use more, I will charge it twice a day , I want plug it in power when I am at home
If you use the supplied cable and charger, it will allow fast charging and then automatically stop charging when it is full so you won't damage the battery.
If you use a different charger or cable, it will charge much slower.
Mine won't charge with another cable and plug besides the one it came with. Phone can't charge with NC plug and cable. Is it supposed to to be able to charge with a lower power adapter like the one for my phone?

Apparently you have to shut the Nook down for it to charge with a regular USB cable. That's because a regular cable won't supply enough power to charge the device while it is running. The fact that it will charge at all under these circumstances is an unadvertised feature.

The supplied charger is 1.9 amp. A regular charger is 1 amp. A phone car charger is. 5 amp. That's why if you use the NC charger it's faster.

I want this information in barnesandnoble.com , not fast or slow
the book that comes with the nook states that when the light turns green that it is fully charged and now supplying power to the nook and not the battery (so your battery does not discharge and you can use your nook still), i'm not sure how much more proof you want than this.
As for other chargers, if you get the micro USB Type B (I believe is what it's called), it will charge fast still and SHOULD have auto shut off (since that's built into the nook).

problems with charging

Hi everyone,
I've got a problem. When i charge my phone by USB on my laptop. The battery keeps to be drained. The notification icon says it is charging but it's like if it wasn't. When i try to charge my phone by AC adapter, It quickly charge without problems.
When i charge the battery, Wifi and Bluetooth are not activated.
Does anyone has noticed that ?
Thanks by advance

Being my 1st smartphone (came from a BB) I have noticed it is slow to charge on USB but dont have anything to compare to. Will go up by about 10% in 40Mins for me.
I know that USB has less power running through it so wont charge up anywhere near a mains charge so bare that in mind.
Have you tried other USB ports or another computer? Might be just not enough juice coming through to charge it properly.

hello,
I had the exact same problem when I had juice defender installed. Who said "irony" ?

USB Not Charging after 2.3 update

Hello there,
Its a but weird but hey this is something very normal for the 2x I think. When I plug in the phone to the pc, this will identify the phone and all that, but it will not charge. I have tried different USB slot and other PCs but nothing happens. On Power the phone will charge as normal. I have also down a calibration of the battery..
Anyone?
I just had the same thing happen to me. I'm glad I read about your wall charger suggestion . Then I read about another person who pulled their battery out and long pressed the power button to clear any risidual charge, I did that and when I turned back on it had gone from 1% to 5%. This was after useing 'battery calibrator' which deletes that file. I also have battery monitor widget and wonder if it conflicts, I think I entered a random number when it asked me the wall chargers ampage. Who knows it charges from computer again. My mother had a problem similar on her nokia, she let the charge get to low and they had to 'shock' the battery into life.
- actually if you have the mode where the screen stays on then the phone might just consume all the power.
-nope, seems wall charger is super fast and computer is slow, maybe usb just doesnt have as many amps
check your usb cable, cheap china cable have problem with charging
I got another cable, GOLD!, and did more testing, its a slow charge on computer and charge goes down when playing counter-strike. Charge goes up on wall socket when playing CS. The charger says it puts out 1A and im sure that more than what my laptop USB puts out, maybe I'll try it with my desktop.. debug mode did nothing to change the effects.

[Q] Mains Charging issue

Hi all,
Have a strange problem.
Galaaxy S i9000 XXJVT - phone will occasionally charge on mains but rarely. Usually when battery completely depleted, but not always. Checked wires and also changed charger but all is ok with chargers.
Phone charges OK with USB though. Any known bugs on this? Sorry if it has been posted before but couldnt find any problem like this one.

Really weird problem coz the phone uses the same two pins in a USB socket to charge.. Also, it can't discriminate between a wall charger and a USB cable in terms of charging..
How many chargers have you tried it on? have you tried to use your charger in anyone else's phone?

Yes to all! I checked that the prob wasnt with my charger. There is some instability in charging also. As soon as I manage to charge it 100% on wall plug (occasionally) it stops charging. So overnight, it takes a couple of hours to charge then wont start again.
Recommend reinstall??
