Personally I highly reccomend the mirror screen protectors! They're extremely cheap on ebay too, I've gotten a couple packs of them because friends of mine have seen them and wanted them too. You can get a pack of 3 w/ 3 microfiber cloths included for less than a dollar shipped

What are those like? I saw them on eBay but I wasn't quite sure of the point? do they stop glare somehow?
any images?

None of the screen protectors that I tried work well. They all make the screen feel odd. My solution was to buy a tmobile mytouch fitted folio case. It covers the screen when not in use, as well as protecting the whole phone. Then, once awhile I use alcohol swaps to clean the screen.

I use a Zagg invisible shield. It works great and although initial cost is high, there is a lifetime warranty so anytime your screen protector gets scratched, you can send it back in and get a new one for just s&h.
Go to zagg.com or search for invisible shield in Google

How's FREE???

Since I'm a Magic owner, thought I'd share. Dun feel like posting this in every single forum for the phones that they have.
I also submitted the news to the XDA Portal in hopes of attempting to let everyone else know aswell.
[edited] they include 2 full guards per order, incase you mess up putting it on. If you don't you've got a backup. Pretty cool of them. Plus they offer lifetime replacements.

Precut touchscreen protectors?

I like the precut screen protector that comes with the Touch in the box but you only get one . After a while that one gets a bit beat up so I want to replace it but I could never cut one as well as that one was. Id love to buy a place where I could buy them, even in a pack of 10 (girlfriend has the touch too) to replace them from time to time.
Anyone know where to get them precut to fit?
Screen Protectors
Telus in Canada sells them but they are a bit pricey. They appear to be $9.99 ea. Check it out here:
http://telusmobility.ca/ns/pcs/acc_htc_p3050.shtml
So hopefully someone knows where to get them at a better price! This is the kind of price you had to pay for a screen protector for my Sony Clie when I first got it but they eventually came down dramatically.
Pete
Those dont appear to be the shape of the entire plastic screen, just the lit part.
I emailed HTC and they gave me a number to call the parts center in the US to ask about getting them.
Here are a couple of places I found that look to be custom cut. One is a bit pricey though...

I'm going with the crystal touch anti-glare from Boxwave. I'll let you know how it does once it gets to me.
No kidding
http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=147580 is expensive... almost 35$...
At least you get 5 of them. But still...

hey wait before you order! just so you guys know, they elf and vogue's screen sizes are supposedly slightly different.
i ordered the "HTC Touch" screen protectors from boxwave about 2 months ago, thinking, hey, mine is a touch, and its by HTC. well, they didnt fit. boxwave was great about it, and are letting my exchange, but just MAKE SURE you get the Sprint Touch screen protectors.
like i said, they would probably be good about it, but it would just save ya some hassle.
cheers.

really kills the clarity of the screen though doesnt it? very similar to if it were...maybe a little bit wet? everything is unclear/smudged...i dont really know how to explain it (obviously) lol
i went with MartinFields... i couldn't be happier.
I've used Boxwave screens before and they are excellent quality. I had one on my Treo650 forever and it held up wonderfully. I just put the one on for the Sprint Touch and the only negative thing I can say is that it's reduced the sensativity a bit. I'm going to try this reg edit for sensitivity found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360564
What about the invisibleshield, looks like they have screen and full-body. Anybody use these before? Are they worth the price?
Im going for invisible sheild cant give a reveiw yet but when the time comes that I get it I will let you all know. (dont wait for me however s I don't really work... therefire getting paid and being able to afford any purchase are both rarities...

Recommend a cheapo screen protector on ebay (1-3$)

I am looking for a cheapo 2-3 pack protectors from ebay, that will maintain the gloss of the HD2, be bubble free and easy to apply, and fit the HD2.
If anyone got something reasonable recently, can you please shoot me a link to the product page or seller ?
It's important that it will be a 2-5 pack or something because I always mess up the first few ones trying to apply that thing
This may not be the answer you're looking for, but most of the cheapo screen protectors are useless. They are much harder to lay down bubble free and they don't last very long from my experience with them. I suggest you spend around $10. and get a Vikuiti screen protector for your HD2. It lays down very easily and bubble free if you are careful and do the job in a dust free environment like the bathroom after running the shower for a few minutes.
You will likely end up spending less money in the long run and having less frustration. You will also enjoy a better look and feel on your lovely 4.3 inch screen.

I am sorry, should have researched b/f posting: but some liked it and one guy said it was, "Frickin' Fantastic". it is the only one i have found that looks almost identical to the "Vikuiti", except for the 2 small knotches in the upper left hand corner. and it is easily available in the States. Would love 2 know what u think, good thing is htc will make right if it is bad - with no problem. wonder if it is a 3m. Product

Well, the protector is here and I just applied it to my US HD2
It fits PERFECTLY, has 2 small holes for the sensors, and goes around the hark keys.
There was almost ZERO difference in color and visibility between the naked HD2 and the HTC Original protector, so very good job on that.
Hand movement is great and smooth..
No complaints at all.
Got a couple for 6 dollars.

Just ordered to Denmark, sounds like a great deal. I had an InvisibleShield for my Magic, which I wasn't that pleased with. It fell off rather quick and got black-ish instead of see-through. Lets see how this stuff works on a Legend.
can someone tell me why I would need such a thing? The legend is housed in aluminum already, and I highly doubt it could be scratched. I could understand if someone is using this just for the screen protector, but still, there are ones that cost less on ebay...

Everything scratches, and if you plan on selling your phone after you have upgraded in the future, it will still look brand new if you had a product like this on it.
Scratched it already, happens easier then you'd think!
Ordered one. Heared from people that you have to use a lot of water to install them properly, and that they have a very rubbery feel. But hey they are nearly free...
Sent from my HTC Legend using Tapatalk
I got mine yesterday.
Yes, these really feel rubbery as the plastic is fairly thick.
The really anoying thing is that the side pieces go all the way from the top to the plastic piece on the bottom therefore you can't open it, or, you can cut it like I did
Overall it's a good product for the price (muhahah).
Not worth the postage fee to be honest
Very thick - bends when trying to remove them from the paper they come on, and a nightmare to install - What more do you expect for free? lol
Got mine yesterday and I must say that I'm very happy with them. Installation is like on every protector with liquid...I must say that they are definitely better than the zagg ones witch were I nightmare for me to install on my girlfriends iPhone. All you need is PATIENCE and lot (and I mean a lot) of water! I've put water in a bowl with 2 drops of dish washing liquid, then make your fingers wet and take the protector slowly off it's paper (it's easier with wet fingers), and then put the whole protector in the water, let it drip off(not completely), apply and patiently wait 6 ours or use a hair dryer to get it done quicker (but you will still have to wait after). With the part's that include bending you should do the flat part and wait until it starts to stick, and then bend the other parts.

[Q] Best Case for HD2

Can anyone tell me what the best case would be for my HD2, besides an otterbox?
I have the US version of the phone which is longer than the European..
And I have searched everywhere, and I am pretty sure that I read that they stopped making otterboxes for these because everywhere is sold out (I can't even find any on Ebay or Amazon!).
I had my phone for a week and it fell out of my pocket onto my driveway and the screen cracked like a spider web.. So now I have to spend about $150 to get the screen replaced, and I am not willing to do so unless I can get a secure case for it..
Any suggestions?

This should probably be in the 'HD2 Accessories' section, you'll get more info there I guess. I personally use the leather HTC pouch which came free with my phone, and it works extremely well! I've had the phone for a year and not a single scratch on it even though it's constantly in contact with my keys and stuff.
Piel Frama (http://www.pielframa.com/htc-touch-hd-2-imagnum-tan-cases.htm)
I think it's the best!
Sorry, I didn't realize that there was a forum for HD2 accessories...
But those leather cases are more like pouches, right? As in, you still have to pull the phone out to use it, and its more of just a carrying case?
I am looking for something like an OtterBox, with maximum protection and is always on the phone

Oh right, yeah they are but I personally don't find it much trouble. I think there may be one which is more like the otterbox one as well (by HTC) so try it, the leather gives a nice high quality feeling
The Otterbox Defender is a good case, as long as you don't need to get the phone in and out of the case.
It is two pieces, a silicone rubber case, then a hard plastic shell. If you need to change the battery or reboot the phone by pulling the battery, there is a good chance the plastic shell will split or break.
I've been through two of those cases. The first one Otterbox customer service (very nice FWIW) sent me a new one under warranty. After the second one cracked I just didn't bother. Even cracked it protects the phone pretty well.
There just aren't that many cases for the HD2 since every other day HTC comes out with a new phone.

I've come across them on ebay every once in awhile but your right, they can be very hard to find even on other websites as well. And then most of the times when you do find them its for the international model which i believe wont fit the US version. I've had some luck with other ebay countries that ship to the US but thats really hit and miss.
A new 64gb sandisk microsdxc will set you back around $95-$135 and a new otterbox would cost around $40-$50 and thats if you can even find it which would be difficult to say the less. I read some reviews of people who didn't like theirs but most seem quite happy with it. Considering that they are hard to find his offer isn't really to high priced especially considering he offered to add money towards the trade. About two months ago I seen a used one go for like $40 on ebay if i remember correctly but then again one sold for only $13 w/ free shipping a couple weeks ago. You can see that here. Worth way more then $13 though, who ever got a steal on that.
Considering our phone has Cornings Gorilla Glass I think there is really no need to go all out. Get a nice full body screen protector such as clear-coat found here and put it in a fairly nice...but not break your bank account nice case. Something around $10 should do. Clear-coat normally has sales/coupons going on so if you do go that route try to look one up. I've had mine in a cheap $5 case since i bought it just after they came out and have even dropped it a few times, luckily my phone still looks like its in mint condition.
Yeah, I didn't mean that I'd only trade it for a 64gb microSD... if anyone wants to make any offer, I'd consider it. I already have a Noreve leather case that I use for my HD2, and I've rarely used the otterbox case, so I figure there's no reason for me to hang on to it.

Wet application vs dry application. Lifetime warranty (and they're good for it). If you've never used a wet application screen protector it would be hard to understand. Of all the advantages, the most important is that you can position it perfectly because it slides until it dries. Also, they don't scratch (drag a key across the 3 for $5 screen protector; you'll get a scratch on the plastic; not so on a wet-apply protector). And if you get dust or a hair under the protector during the application you can get it out; if you don't you won't be able to see it anyways (no bubbles). Oh, last thing: they don't peel at the corners or turn yellow. It's pretty much night and day. Take my word, I though the same way you did until I got one on a sale. Never going back...
BTW- I've never used XO protectors, but I'm tempted to jump since it appears they're the only ones with the nexus7 already. Had nothing but good experiences with clearprotector (and you can always get 50% off with coupon "iwantultra") but they don't have the nexus yet and I want it waiting for me when my tablet arrives....

An accessory by definition is not necessary.

Yes, by definition. But people who don't use accessories like cases and screen protectors usually end up damaging their devices, so, in my opinion, that makes them necessary. Things like USB-OTG and styli are just there for the people who want to use them. Either way, I feel that this can be a helpful thread for everyone, especially if it gets stickied.
Fair enough ( Though my phone has survived without either and only has a minor dent in the back )
What about tablet stands, bluetooth keyboards and UK links?

I've used good wet and dry protectors. Wet is basically like you say, but they never feel right to me. I just don't care for the "rubbery" feel. A good dry acrylic protector feels identical to the screen itself, and only has one drawback aside from a bit more work; they do scratch a little. Even that really isn't a big deal (to me) as the scratches are very light and "disappear" when the backlight is on.
Good dry acrylics (like Clarivue for example) don't yellow or peel. Also, while you do need to take a good amount of time and care to make sure no dust or hairs end up under the protector while you're applying it (you can always lift it back up to remove dust or hairs if they do get trapped), once it's done you'll never have to mess with it again.
Did anyone here who already has a Nexus 7 try the PU Leather Folio Stand Case? I'm planning on purchasing it. Does the screen automatically shut off when the flap is completely covering it?

I can pretty much guarantee it will not. The Nexus 7 doesn't have magnetic sensors, so the only method of screen on/off would be a proximity sensor, which I also don't believe it has.
I also question whether it's truly made for the Nexus 7 or not. There's a bunch of Kindle Fire or similar 7" tablet cases floating around that have been re-branded as "Nexus 7" cases. My recommendation is to wait until you can find a Nexus 7 case on an official manufacturer's website and purchase it there.
I just ordered the styluses that were in the OP. Said they will be here between August 1st and August 17th.

Hey OP -
I found a US seller who is selling the same generic PU flip case as in your OP for the same price and free shipping.
It is less than $10, so I took a flyer on it.:silly:

Awesome! I was holding out on purchasing it myself because of the wait, but now I'll certainly be buying it. I'll replace my link with your link.
I just bought the case from the above link. I'm still looking for cheap screen protectors (hopefully that come in packs). I don't know if I should purchase it from Hong Kong because that is going to take a while. What do you guys think? I'm hoping to purchase it tonight.
*Does the Nexus 7 come with an already applied "screen protector" film?
