Phone number Programming - Touch CDMA Android Development

Quick Q!
Is it possible to program phone numbers in Android yet?
TY

Anyone?

What exactly do you mean...?

Is it possible to hard program a phone number into Android if I change my phone number.
I understood that you can't get into the phone programming menu in Android.
(I am NOT talking about contacts).

Are you asking if it's possible to provision your phone while in Android?

Ok. No, I don't think so. dzo has posted some commands that can be sent to the radio but there's no clean interface for manipulating your msid or nam settings or whatever. You can still dial *228 and get your roaming info.

Contact Specific Ringtones

Is there any way how to assign specific ringtones to some of mine contacts? Even my old Motorola had this feature very useful specificaly for the people who need to be accesible by some of their contacts all the time, but can call back most of the callers later.

You can assign ringtones to contacts stored in the phone. You cannot assign them to contacts on the SIM.

How will you do that? I have no such option in menu in Contacts?
after the contact is saved, you will see the option to set a ringtone for them under their mobile phone number when editing the contact form.

Go into contacts, highlight the name, click on Menu > Edit. If the contact is stored on the phone and not on the sim, you should see "Ring tone:" under "Mobile Tel:"
Got it it.
Sorry it was stupid question, but I overlooked it always when I was checking settings. Sometimes we just need somebody to open our eyes.

It's no big thing. We all miss stuff sometimes.
Look at vipRingtone
I think this is what you are looking for located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328560
You could try Ringo, it allows you to use mp3s and assign to individuals and your outlook group categories. You can do the same with SMS notifications.
to be honest, i'm really surprised no user flamed you for this question. it is really too basic, you can find the answer in the user manual that came with your phone. but as someone said, everybody overlooks things sometimes. cheers!

I took joy in the fact that I haven't seen anyone ask this before. That made it worth answering without any snarkiness.
I must say I'm a little disappointed. When I say the subject of this post, and that jarek91 was the last poster, I was expecting to read some juicy trash.
But I must agree with jarek91 that I actually haven't seen this question floating around in quite a while.
OK guys, so I found that my original question was not so stupid after all. Of course I overlooked edit setting in contacts, but as I now controled all contacts transfered from the old phone, it seems like they all have already assigned the proper specific ringtone. However, whatever I do (and I tried all settings on phone for changing ringtone from none, through generic to specific) all incoming calls still have only one ringtone.
What now?
I am using 1.83.631.4 (radio 1.27.15.32) Rogers Rom (only ROM with public caller ID)
From what I remember that is the exact reason I looked around for something. As I said earlier try Ringo!

I tried, and it realy works. Thank you.
What I want is a "unknown caller" specific ringtone. AFAIK this cannot be done without additional software. Can someone please prove me wrong on this. Essentially I need a discrete call tone for no caller ID.

Replace the xml file in \Program\Panels\GooglePanel with this attached file or edit your own and replace all iexplorer.exe with operaL.exe

Opera was not meant to be available on the Xperia from the beginning - just in the last time of developement they decided to include it. But that is no excuse - the should have been able to make the panels use Opera even in that shorter time
This works great, big thanks!
Is it possible to do the same in messaging?
Everytime i open a link on my exchange account, failexplorer opens instead of opera.
Would be very very nice if you could change this to
Thnx, easy as pie, works like a charm!

Btw, is there a way to change "default browser" in the phone? Explorer keeps on popping upp all over the place when I click on link in messages and such...

Did you try it?
And Kevin Mitnick participate to the software conception
Wow this really does work! Tried it on my att Fuze and after a bit of configuration it unblocks it all. It asks for you voice mail number though, i don't know why though. It also changes all of your call forwarding numbers to theirs rather than your default voice mail number. People calling you still go to your voice mail like normal though, maybe that is why they need your voice mail number in the beginning.
can someone help me out? i cant seem to get this to work, i get the blocked calls and all but i cant access my voicemail what number do i need to set as my voicemail number that i call to get my messages?
im on tmobile USA in california
edit*** i got it to work
Im in the UK so cant try this, but just a thought.. you should combine this service with this thread to make it all automatic!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=451309
great tool, soon my phone can do anything
i used to use this all the time before...
its always been here, the only new concept here is its available to everyone!!
once anyone calls an 800 number with a private number it automaticly gets unblocked (its the law) and then trap calls just forwards the call back to u!
u can do it on ur own all u need is an 800 number with a cheap plan!
under phone settings u need to set condintional forwarding for busy to ur 800 number, then forward ur 800 number back to u!
the only downside is u have to let the phone ring through if u want it to go to voicemail.
(u can mute it)
is there anyway to use this feature and also integrate it with YouMail? i really love YouMail and all the features they give for free!

Yes I have youmail as well, so I played with the setting......
all you have to do is......on the trapcall setting when it tell you to put the phone number that you see on your phone "That is you carrier voicemail" instead of putting that phone number in, you put the youmail phone number (17142043114)...........That is all you have to do.

You do it the Trapcall settings
Where you put the forwarding number that is where you put the youmail number
1. Sign in to your Trapcall account (on computer)
2. now go to the settings tab and under that select My Phone
3. under Phone Overview click carrier edit
4. select your carrier and the click update
5. When it say "We Need More Information!" there will be a box asking for a forwarding number, put in the youmail number
"17142043114" click I'm Done
6. Under Program Phone you will see where you have to dail the number on you phone (*004*18669676590*11# and hit SEND) after that click
I did this.
That should of work............ Enjoy unblocking people

as I stated above, USUALY operators allow users to change those settings.

Thirteen "not obvious" questions about using X1i

Good afternoon!
I've tried to ask these question on other forums, but almost nobody gave me an answer. There were some about different software to use, but it didn't really help. So I would be very pleased if you, dear X1 gurus, answer these question. Please, if you know the answer - write it here for me and other people. Thank you very much in advance!
The priority is: I. How to solve the problem using native software or registry? II. If and only if the first is not possible, how to solve it using different software?
1. Where in file system the vocabulary of words which were inputted before is situated? It's a vocabulary with these tooltips-words while typing. Can I get it somewhere form my phone and backup or even edit?
2. How can I check my X1 uptime?
A: As yet I know only one way: use AEButton Plus. You can correct or supplement this opinion(and please do it) if you know more on that.
3. Someone called me from number +ХХХ, I want to call him back, BUT to add a zero between + and the first digit(+0XXX). How can I do it? I can't copy this number and there is no options like "change then dial". The one and only solution for it - is to choose "send SMS" and copy the number from the "From" field! But is it useful and normal for a device which costs about 500 euro?
A: As yet I know only one way: use Inesoft PhoneEx. You can correct or supplement this opinion(and please do it) if you know more on that.
4. Imagine: you have a contact Ivan in your contacts, which has 2 phone numbers: mobile and work. Two sms arrive to your phone: one is from his home number, another is from work. Sms inbox displays both of it as "Ivan". How do I know which sms is sent from what number?
A: As yet I know only one way: use Inesoft PhoneEx. You can correct or supplement this opinion(and please do it) if you know more on that.
5. How can I copy a number which was dialed earlier or number from contacts? I see only one way(but it's weird): chose "edit contact" and copy from the field. Is there another way?
A: As yet I know only one way: use Inesoft PhoneEx. You can correct or supplement this opinion(and please do it) if you know more on that.
6. While a phone conversation how can I easily save a number which my friend is saying to me? I tried to dial it while a call is active, it's ok, but once the call is dropped, my number disappears! Yes, I can create a note using a special touch-key, but it's not useful, because I should use my keypad and then should copy that number, but I need to dial it! How can it be solved?
7. Have anybody experienced a problem while taking a photo of many different objects? I had. It happened when I took a photo of a forest - there were a lot of trees alongside each other and after pressing shot button, "Saving..." was displayed on my screen for about 15 minutes! After it said that it failed to take a photo. What it can be?
8. Where can I find all my earlier connected WiFi points and passwords? I want to save it before upgrading my firmware. Can I backup it?
9. Can I turn of a feature of turning my screen light on when I plugging my X1 to PC? I don't want this light to be turning on when I do it! Is it possible?
10. While surfing internet via GPRS/EDGE or getting my email from server, my GSM part of device seems to be "unconsciousness": when somebody calls me, I'm "out of zone". How can I fix it? I want my GSM part to be number 1 by priority!
11. I can see anything when the sun is shining. I know everybody with X1 can't. But can I "ask" my backlight to help me? For example, set it to turn maximum power when on the light, or something? I'm asking because, as I've understood, my auto-backlight works vice versa: when it's bright - it turns off, when it's dark - it turns its max power. I want max power when it's very bright too!
A: People say that screen protector with anti-glare really helps.
12. When an SMS is coming, I get a popup notification at the bottom of the screen. I can either press "Reply" or "Options". If I press reply, the chat mode opens and I can reply, seeing all our conversation. BUT if I go to my address book and choose "New SMS" on a contact, different form will be opened, just like for e-mail composing. And here is a question: how can I make this "e-mail composing" style sms appearing after I press "Reply" when new sms arrived? I know how to turn the chat mode off, but I don't need it to be turned off completely, because it's useful while reading sms from one person. I just want reply to a person using simple form. Is it possible somehow? I think that if it's can be made by hands(New sms from contacts), then it could be implemented programmatically... maybe some values in registry?
A: As yet I know only one way: use Inesoft PhoneEx. You can correct or supplement this opinion(and please do it) if you know more on that.
13. At the screens you can see screenshots from my X1 with R2A0010 and 1.14 radio: 1 hour after powering on and 2 days after powering on. Why there is such a difference in memory consumption in some system processes? Is it an ordinary thing?
A: People say that it's normal. You can correct or supplement this opinion(and please do it) if you know more on that.
Thank you very much in advance again!
Great questions, especially #6. I can't answer any of them exept #5, so I'll have to watch this thread along with you!
#5, go to call log in the phone dialer and there is a menu option to save to contacts. If you want to save it to a pre-existing contact....you will have to add a question #14 to your list
PhoneX can do these two.

Thanks for your answer. Yes, it can, just as Inesoft Phone. I've installed both of it. And then removed both in the same day. IMHO, they add some good design, but hardly can pretend on a lot more useful then original dialer. (Just for future messages, to have this thread clean, I say to myself and others(for the off-chance): I would not want to discuss any soft here, so please, let it be only tries to answer to these questions... thank you in advance)

7 - Never heard of it. Upgrade your device to R3A and try again.
8 - I believe there is a text file in the Windows folder. I am not 100% sure though.
9 - Yes. There is a reg tweak, but I can't find it. Someone else should have it.
10 - Never had that problem. Are you using a custom ROM?
11 - I can see the screen very good in the sun, because I use a screen protector with anti-glare. Buy one and be amazed.
13 - It is normal.

I've been using the PhoneEx trial for a few days and it doesn't do #5 and #6. If any workaround involves tons of keypresses and program changing (during the call) to accomplish, then it fails. I think the OP is looking for a quick way of accomplishing these things during a call. Going to the notes application during a call only partly works. In order to actually use that number you may have jotted down in notes, you have to find the file and call the number from the notes file...not very elegant. There should be a means of jotting down numbers while in the dialer (without sending out tones causing your voicemail to go crazy) so that you may call or save them during or afterwards.
Also, I may be wrong but, how do you add additional numbers to a contact without copying and then going into edit contact then pasting? For example, how do you add a home number to a contact that already has a work number without manually going into edit contact and adding it. There should be a "merge with existing contact" feature within the dialer menus.
Not bashing PhoneEx, because it is pretty good otherwise. But, I am a stickler for convenience features. I hate tons of button pressing and navigation to accomplish simple things.

Just for fun My work computer can be running for month or so... Sometimes it's interesting for how much your X1 is powered on. For example, if I see any bugs on it, I question myself: "How long does this thing work? Maybe it's time for an SR?". If I found that it's only a day - I would be very curious. And if it's already a week - I do an SR without any additional thoughts That's my answer
