Android 1.6 SQSH - Touch CDMA Android Development

Hello, i've been trying to get android on my HTC Titan and i've been able to get myn's Warm Donut Build working great on it, except i can never receive an SMS message when I am on the home screen. I have to stay in the Messaging app so i can receive any text messages.
So my question was if there was any way to fix that so I can receive messages no matter where i am.
Also, i like many of the other themes that myn has, but i was wondering if there was any way get them in a SQSH build. Or, if there was a Donut build with all the basic core things like Phone, and SMS
Thanks!

you should have asked this in myn's thread rather than making a new one. Ive never heard of the messaging problem you mentioned.

Problem with 1.6 ROMs

Hi, as of lately for some reason, I had 4.2.3.1 on my phone the other day and out of no where whenever I would receive text, I would get two notifications one from my SMS app (Handcent) and the other is from the default SMS app.
Now I decided to run dwangs v1.11, and I'm still getting the same issue.
-I'm using a theme, as of now its djengizz 2.0
-I have the handcent SMS app(and yes I did disable the notifications in the default SMS)
-And of course I'm running the 1.6 ROM (Dwangs v1.11)
Is anybody having this same problem? If so, how do you fix it? Some please respond
P.S. I don't have this problem on any Hero ROMs.
im having this problem myself and ive only seen one other post besides my own inquiry into the problem and this thread. no answers as of yet, hopefully it will be fixed in the next cyan build. until then i just try to ignore it >_<
maybe turn off the notification for the anrdoid sms?
people really need to read :\

I think my phone is bugged, any help?

Yes this is the development thread, and all I really have is a problem, but I think it's something only solvable by you devs.
My phones sms has been completely Effing up lately.
I will get the notification up in the bar, and I can pull that down and read into the message, but if I open Handcent or the default app the text won't show up and will not be there.
So reasonably I stopped using Handcent, and Message widget and all sorts or things like that, wiped my phone, cleared the partition, flashed a new rom. Different firmwares [1.6 and the new open eclair]
But nothing really seems to help or work, apparenlty mms has been failing a lot which I know is more so on Tmobile's end then it is my phone but idk whats up, tonight I get this new Android notification
"com.android.mms a large number of sms messages are being send. select "ok" to continue of "cancel" to stop sending"
whenever I hit send, I haven't yet rebooted to see if it persists but it's a pain.
Is there any device log or collection I can submit so someone can look into it, possibly a bug? Virus? Somethin' stupid like that?
Thanks.
p.s. and my inbox isn't full or anything ridiculous like 1000+ messages, I've got about less than 50 currently, and when I said stopped using Handcent and MessageWidget, I mean uninstalled.
This happened to me on rare occasions while I was using Handcent. But it doesn't happen when I use the default messaging app. So I assumed it was due to handcent. Not quite sure why you're getting the other problems though... =/
This happened to me as well when I changed to a 2.1 rom. I chose to go back to Dwangs 1.6 rom until the 2.1 roms have been completely stable.
Hey try using ChompSMS. I think its better than Handcent SMS

That doesn't sound good at all.
Have you checked with t-mobile to see if you are sending a stupid amount of text messages? It could be someone is sending spam messages via your phone or something. It could explain why you are unable to receive messages.
I think you are from the government, trying to find out whom on here knows how to subvert there android espionage. I for one will state to you officer, that I know nothing about this, and am stupid to the whole concept of bugs.
PS Do not try to trace my post, as both me and my computer are wearing tinfoil hats (with the shiny side out).
In all reality, one trick I learned as a teenager to check if your phone may be bugged, is to find an old business that still uses a switchboard phone system (this was hard in the early 90's, and may be impossible now) and phone them. If your phone was bugged, then they would see two lines coming in as one and become quite confused.
Whoa guys, by "bugged" I meant viruses not I'm being spied on haha.
It's occured on the 2.1 build Open Eclair
and a Cyan 1.6 build.
With and without using alternative applications for messaging.
I got sick and tired of it so I decided to go back to my most solid rom I've ever used.
A Soul Life 1.5 build, and I haven't had any troubles yet.
When I preformed the nandroid backup however it still tried to act like my sd card was partitioned and the market was buggy for a few but the cache is cleared up and it's all good now.

MMS On Vogue...

Hello,
While playing around with the APN settings on my vogue for the MMS, I have not been able to make any progress in successfully sending or receiving mms messages. I am running Myn's Warm Donut, and with its default settings.. nothing... I have tried to add that http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms?X-VZW-MDN=<my10digitphonenumber> and what ever the other "Sprint + MMS thread has told for Verizon. Does any one have any advice for this. Any help is appreciated...
I have Verizon as my carrier if you didn't notice by the way...
Thank You..
Sending works for Verizon but not receive. Settings are as follows
Go to Settings -> Wireless Controls -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> Android
Modify the following settings:
MMSC: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms?X-VZW-MDN=<your ten-digit phone number>
MMS proxy: leave empty
MMS port: 80
If you have already done this, I cannot help you further
make sure you're not including the <>!
No success on sprint yet?
I truly haven't googled it, but has anyone found a way to get an image from a Verizon Android phone? I just wonder if the secrets to MMS are in each provider's flavor of Android. I'm just reaching here I know. I really need MMS capability but I LUV ANDROID!

Same here. Being able to have android this functional on our vogues is a feat in itself. I really would love to have MMS but as long as android is as functional as it is now I'm happy.
hey drewden123 I see you have lockbot pro with myns warm donutand the eclair lock. how did you get the eclair lock cause I thought lockbot was only to theme your current lock. like differentwallpaper

Nope. Both lockbot free and pro have iphone, hero, eclair (old circular lock style), and flan (misnomer, really 2.1 which is also eclair) style lockscreens. All of them are pretty good emulations. However, it does cause notification bar lockups (can't pull down the bar) occasionally.

Are you able to download themes made by other users? When I used lockbot pro it would always say I needed a newer version to download but it would always let me upload my own lock themes.

I've been just having ppl MMS my gmail account. I'm sure MMS will be figured out soon as mostly all of the essential core features on donut have been pretty much figured out. I'm surprised more ppl don't pic message actually.

I saw them also but were you able to download any? I even tried to download one that I had uploaded with the same version of lockbot pro and it would not let me lol. It kept saying I needed a newer version.

ROM question....

I have tried a few ROMs here for my Hero and am not finding anything for what I need. Maybe I haven't looked enough but I have looked.
I have tried the Blue Froyo and Darch's 2.8 and neither let me play any of the music I have on my sdcard in a file called Music. On the stock ROM music player they show up just fine.
I also am having an issue with both not letting me use my voice mail properly, I have found the VVM zip and this only solves part of the issue for me. I still don't get proper notification of new messages. Instead I am getting two or more messages from 9016 for each new voice mail.
Any one point me towards a ROM that helps with both of these? Non-sense preferred but not a must. Sorry for being lazy but there are so many ROMs here and trying them all just to test these two things out would be very time consuming and asking these questions in all threads would be very redundant.
Try CM6.

If you mean the nightly, I have and maybe I'm too picky because it isn't themed like the blue froyo is. It also has these two issues I'm asking about so that won't help.
Anyone else have a suggestion for me?
You may need to reformat your SD card. There's really no reason it wouldn't play files from a "Music" folder unless it's having trouble reading the SD card somehow. Try reformatting the SD card (after backing up everything on it) and then reload all the files on it and try again.
As for the voicemail thing, on any AOSP-based ROM (DD, CM) those notifications from 9016 won't go away....it's kinda how android tells the Sprint VVM that a voicemail has been received, but to my knowledge no one has figured out how to disable those texts from coming in. Using Handcent SMS (an app from the market), you can supposedly blacklist the 9016 number but I'm not sure if that's a complete fix because I've never tried it myself. Most or even all Sense-based ROMs don't get that text.

Thanx I'll try that when I get home as I'm at work right now. Strange that all sense roms I've tried see my music fine but not these two which of course are my favorites. Came from a moment so sense is weird to me.
The voicemail thing I guess I'll learn to live with as I'm reserving an epic tomorrow @ RS.

Edit: ever have one of those moments where you say to yourself "why didn't I think of that" ? Well I should have but I feel so stupid I can't even think enough to do that right now...formating the sdcard did the trick....thanx again
Bump...so one of the 9016 messages I got for vvm looks like a command to turn on a notification. Just curious if this has been looked into. Maybe we could get this to work by tweaking the command or maybe the command isn't being ran because the receiving app needs tweaking?

I have seen that one, I am kinda partial to the blue froyo theme but I noticed that the nightly isn't themed. I will try that one out for theming the nightly, thanks. I've played with theming on another phone but haven't quite figured it out yet on the Hero or I'd just make one myself.

Possible to use android messaging app on Hero?

Can we delete the included htc messaging app and push the stock android apk?
yes yesyesyesyesyes
that sounds fantastic! good news.
do you know where I can get it?
thank you thank you
edit: I'm referencing sms messages.
trying searching "android keyboard"...

id like a vanilla 2.1 for this thing. waiting on an official port of 2.2 hopefully from a similar device with sense. or an official(as close as possible)to vanilla 2.2
often times when I attach a picture, I get an fc. is there a fix for this, the fc's?
