Time Lag issue when playing MP3

Brothers, i can see many post talking about the time lag issues when playing mp3, there will be a 1 second time lag every 3-4 mins while playing with pocket music or windows media, is there any registry to control this?
My Rom: 1.34.831.1 WWE
Any Rom without the touch Flo 3D? or make it faster and battery saving?
It seemed 1.37 is better?

Im not sure what you mean by time lag, but I experience split second pausing.. also about every 3-4mins.
I'm using pocketMusic and having ROM 1.37..
Can you describe yr time lag?

I also experience this. I have the 1.35.00.00 NLD ROM which came with my Diamond from the store. I'm using the integrated player in TouchFlo3d and every 3-4 minutes there is a short pause..

I experienced this on stock ROM, but I installed the TLR ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402261) yesterday, and haven't noticed it yet - was playing music almost non stop at work all day.
Not sure if its the ROM, or if I've just gotten used to the lag.

Time lag
when playing mp3 with pocket music, for example 3mins, it will suddenly have some kind of pause, i read the post in this forum and found that its happened for some kind of HTC machines, and they do have the registry hack, but i tried and reset the diamond, it doesn't work...
So it's still make me flustrated.

Me too, it drives me mad. I've tried it with various ROMs including TLR 1.37 and it still does it!
It was mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398730 and it also it dates back to Kaisers but I've searched and searched but never found a fix?

Even worse when using 1.37.707 Rom
I've flash the 1.37.707 WWE rom to see whether the time lag problem may occur and found that its even worse than 1.34.
Anyone tried 1.37 CHT Rom?

not fix yet...

I've experienced this problem with stock ROMs and both versions of TLR. I'm coming from an iPhone background and fact that I can't seamlessly listen to music w/out the split second pauses is very annoying. I really hope HTC are going to fix this (in addition to all the other annoyances and bugs) sometime soon.

System hangs 1 min. when opening picture gallery...

When I scroll to images and video's in the Touch3D interface and open a picture or video sometimes it seems as if the system is frozen. Then after 30 sec to a minute or so, it opens the gallery and the phone performs fine again. I have a friend who also has a Diamond and he has the same problem. A soft reset does not fix the problem. Are there more Diamond users with the same problem? And has anyone found a fix for it? Many thanks.

Try applying the tweaks in the tweak thread above, especially the ones that have to do with TF3D and that should hopefully solve your lag problems...well make it much more quicker and smoother than standard.

I've applied all the performance tweaks allready, doesn't seem to help. Maybe it's my rom version. Strange to see that even though my friend with the same phone has the same problem, i can't seem to find anything on the forum covering this bug.
O yeah, my rom version is: 1.35.404.4 NLD.

I installed the new Dutch ROM 1.37.404.3, and this issue is fixed...

Sound lag when listening to music.

Hi!
When I listen to music on my Diamond the sound often lags. In other words, during music playback, I often get small brakes. Half a second of silence or something like that at random. It usually happens around 1-2 times each track. I get it both when I'm using the default player and when I'm using S2P.
I'm not running any other programs in the background when listening to music. My Diamond has the default Norwegian ROM.
I really hate this lag. Anyone with the same problem? How can I fix this?

Same problem here. But I get lags just every 10 minutes - German HTC Rom

Im pretty sure that EVERYONE using the diamond is suffering from this..
It's just that nobody seem to take this seriously... *sigh*
I got the stock 1.93 HK ROM.. and I got it in all the other ROMs previously.
Can some expert find out if there's an active process in the background that causes this?

I'm also having this really annoying problem.
At first I thought it was because of Coreplayer, but it seems all musicplayers are having this problem. Because I use the Diamond as my musicplayer when I go to work, I'd really like to get this fixed asap.

I'm having the same issue, on TLR 3. Dunno if the bug was there on other roms because I rearely play music on my diamond.

Yep, same problem here, with various ROMs (1.93 as well). It's happening for me in ringtones as well (when playing solo but as well when I get a call). And with WMP and the HTC player.
A solution would really be welcome..

I tried playing 3 songs and I experienced no lag whatsoever until I got too adventurous. I switched on WiFi and open Internet Explorer and go to a website and the Diamond hanged on me.
I believe this is not only due to the ROMs but also due to hardware as well.

i also hate the loading time when opening music for the firs ttime after reboot..
i dont understand why is there a need to "buffer" music and lags the whole phone so badly..
is it loading the album or scaning for album artS?

Never had this prob on the 3300 and Cruise.
It's just on the diamond.

I dial to HTC care, and they said this is the known issue
and said will fix it later
But a later past ... past ... past
At the 23/July I saw the new firmware, and think maybe can fix this problem
However, no help ....
And I dial to HTC care again, they play one music to me on the phone and said no lag = ="
I said the phone will randomly sound lag, but within 5~6 songs must have one lag or above
Then he said, he will notice to HTC and I still need wait wait wait
Diamond said this cell phone is a multimedia cell phone, so If the music have a problem, and they can't fix
I guess we must keep going to post it, and gather all the post to HTC and let's all the world know

I had this on my Polaris and Nike, now I just got a Elf and haven't noticed it at all. Maybe a Qualcomm issue :S

We simply have to admit that HTC is unable to produce error-free phones.
I can assure that this bug is re-occurent on all Diamond devices - regardless which ROM you use.
The only difference is timing. Some get the drop-sound after average 1 inute- others have it only occasionaly.
i first thought it was a conversion error, or soft, but 4 mediaplayers I used result in the same bug.
And it doesn't look like the new build solved it indeed.
Check HTC E-club for a fix - (in 6-9 months or so) - or hope that one of our XDA goeroes can find a fix.
Suggest to make this thread a sticky as i is ineed one of the most famous known bugs of the Diamond. (or integrate it with other related threads)

I have the same problem and it is annoying me like crazy. I noticed the problem gets much worse when using the audio booster - with it I get lags every couple of minutes, when I turn it off - I get them only every few songs or so. It's still not acceptable, tho. Maybe there's a way to tweak the sound buffer for WM in the registry? Increasing the buffer can probably help this...

I'm using SwiftBL 4.5 ROM, and this proplem has been reduced significantly!
Previously, these pauses occur randomly, and may happen twice at a time and for longer duration at a time.
Now with the SwiftBL4.5 ROM, I get it exactly every 5mins, and a very very slight disruption. It's definitely an improvement.
The fact that it happens exactly every 5mins, prolly means theres some processes causing this to happen in the background.... hmmm

I think that the problem is TOUCH FLOW 3D. When the time changes it happens I have seen it happen twice like that but it can also be coincidence. What I saw was. When the time changes from 01.09 to 01.10 it has to change to things. the 0 to the 1 and the 9 to the 0. And I think that is the problem. Then i kept music playing and was looking at the phone constantly then next time it happened was 01.29 to 01.30 this time it had to change the 2 to the 3 and the 9 to the 0. But the main thing is that he did not brake during the 01.19 to 01.20 change. I AM CONFUSED. IS THIS THE PROBLEM OR NOT. Can any of the devs look at this? or can anyone one try plying music with TF3D disabled?

Most of the time my music lags is when cell reception is going nuts.. like for instance if i'm on the train going through a tunnel, the cell reception will cut out and try to regain the reception.. i notice my music lag most when this happens.

Manilla 2D : a few freezes ...

Hello all,
I installed Manilla 2D on my Kaiser two weeks ago. I'm really happy with it, except that I experience a few freezes.
These freezes were happening often at the begining. I disabled the automatic update feature into the weather forecast widget. Then, the freezes quantity decreased a lot !
But they are still there. They appear randomly, whatever I do. They last about 5 seconds, and they appear about once every 10 minutes (but it does not happen when using IGO for hours, for exemple ...).
I'm using the original HTC 6.1 ROM with hard SPL 3.29.
I had no freezes with this ROM before installing Manilla 2D, so I'm sure my problem does not come from my ROM or hard SPL.
Does someone know where does my problem come from ?

Because if I'm the only one, that means there must be something to do to avoid them.

I was getting freezes on one of the roms I tried (I can't remember which one) and I fixed it by changing my radio. It might be worth experimenting a bit with that.

I didn't change my ROM, I just installed Manilla 2D on my already in use ROM. Before installing Manilla, I had no freezes at all. So I don't think my problem comes from the radio. There must be something wrong with Manilla 2D somewhere (a parameter or something like that)...

Mine freezes all the time, but I have Sock ATT 6.1 ROM. Most of the freezes happen when scroll to the mail tab.

Well, I just found that my freezes only happen when I leave the flight mode ... So finally it may be related to the radio ... I will try to change it but I still do not understand why this problem did not exist before installing Manilla 2D !

OK, so here are the first results of my tests :
my original radio version was 1.65.17.56.
I did load the radio version 1.71.09.01.
For now about 15 minutes, my Kaiser did not freeze at all !

EDIT : well, in fact I still have some freezes, but a lot less, and when they appear they only last around 1 second. So it's a lot better, but not perfect ... I still would be glad to know where do these freezes come from ...
EDIT 2 : after now 24 hours of use, no more freezes at all ... So it looks like the radio version upgrade was the solution.

To sum up, there's little 'freezes' lasting 4-5 seconds where the screen doesn't respond to any inputs.
It occurs randomly and without reason.
HTC released an hotfix regarding this problem, that can be found here:

However, this is for the Blackstone. When executed on the X1, there is a message box saying
"Please use the correct device to install this hotfix program"
The fix can be extracted and there's a _setup.xml that seems to tell what the .exe does;
I was wondering if it were possible to port it for the X1 as the Blackstone and the X1 are somewhat similar?
NB:
Hard resets didn't helped neither, freezes are also present.
I'm using this:
ROM Version: 1.02.933.3
ROM Date: 08/29/08
Radio Version: 1.06.25.29
Software Version: R1AA017

I also have these freezes occasionally.

I managed to install the files from the hotfix the other night, (because, well because I like to experiment) I spent 5 times as long removing them.
The display inverted, but not the calibration!

however i do not have this issue. I have an issue of after long idels of not using my x1 at work the screen will apear to be cracked but the images are really cracked. a soft reset fixes this issue. (this is ment for a seperate thread) just giving you info on other display bugs on the x1
also can you upload the cab as the htc site will not allow me to download it.

My issue is actually with the camera... if you leave the Camera application on a long time, like 20-30 minutes idle, it will eventually crash, and it will say Camera.exe has stopped responding (or something like that, asking if you want to send a report to MIcrosoft)

just get freezes when i use the HTC album. other then that, nope.

To sum up, there's an interesting registry value named PORepaint that can take values from 0 to 3.
The key I would change may be:
HKLM\System\GWE\PORepaint
The factory default on my X1 is 0 but for your problem, I would set it's value to 2.
Personal Feedback:
When you press the ON button in order to wake the screen, the screen goes blanks for few milliseconds (blank flash), but it's repainting the entire area.
No major speed issues noticed between 0 and 2 values.

It annoys the most when playing games like Bejeweled 2 and the screen suddenly freeze for a few seconds although the game and time keep running in the background and when it stop freezing I already lose time/points. It also happens with every other game I tried playing, even after hard reset. Any fix available yet?

Exactly what I get. It is most encountered in games where you touch the screen rapidly. Suddenly the whole OS freezes for 5-6 seconds then continues for some time until you get it again. It is very annoying.

The shadowmike's Cab didn't do anything usefull. So the HTC's Hotfix for the HD doesn't apply

Hm.. Yesterday right after I did that video, I flashed my X1 with the newest official ROM (version 1.03.931.8 (dated 12/21/08)) from this site. Then, I installed the shadowmike's cab. After the soft reset, the problem hasn't (yet) surfaced (plus the system seems more responsive). Fingers crossed .
Edit: Nope.. False alarm. It still happens. Though rarely..

Strange.. I can still access and see the video (no cookies works too). Does the video still appear deleted? Or was it just a glitch

it happens to me as well...i think this generic bug in x1.

So how do I reliably test the bug ? It happens to me sometimes, but I did not find the pattern yet.

Watch my video (top of this page) to see how I did it (I've shot myself (with a camera ) couple of times doing it).
If that doesn't work, try to load some app. Like any game that somehow reacts to your touch (even Bejeweled works). Then try touching really fast and repeatedly. It shoud happen.
Here's a sound recording of me tapping a jewl in Bejeweled (i'm really hitting the display, do it more gently). It should give you an idea how fast you need to tap. Right before 0:06 the screen stopped responding, i did 4 taps to verify, and then another, and then it started responding again (3 more taps). Sometimes all it takes is 5 seconds (like it did here), but other times, your hand will start to hurt before it happens. Just rest a little bit and then try it again.
