Silencing the Shifts CPU Cooler / Lowering CPU Temp - Shift Development

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned before, My shift is running at 55-60C while idling apparently this is the norm combined with the fans constant metallic rattling isn't nice.

I’ve looked in the hdd upgrade guide and found the fan and its connector but no information is to be found on its manufacturer. The four wires seem to indicate a PWM fan can anyone confirm this ?
Second the CPU seems in the picture above has no thermal paste and the only "heatsink" present is the metal cage which explains the insane temperatures This could be replaced with a RAM heatsink with thermal paste to channel the heat towards the fan case. Another better idea would be finding a laptop CPU Cooler like the one below and placing the grill behind the shifts cpu cooler ill get some internal dimensions tomorrow
Will update soon any thoughts or suggestions post em.

sound of a cooler
Hi! When I turn my Shift,I hear an unpleasant sound of a cooler
Please help!

Thats the fan at full RPM, Ive stopped the rattling on mine by taking off the cooler and heatsink and screwing it back on (It must have come loose) . Swapping the pads for thermal paste knocked 10c off the CPU temp.
Id recommend the removing the cooler if you're getting the same rattling noise. I haven't been able to find out any info on the fan and its connector though would be great if we could find a silent replacement.

Thank`s! I would think this . If i find a solution that will write.

The fan's OEM is here but i havent been able to find a KSB series

I think that you will find that the fan is manufactured by the following company -
Delta Electronics Inc
252 Shang Ying Rd, Kuei San
Taoyuan Hsien
333
Taiwan
as I found a reference to it in their certifucation records. see following URL -
http://directories.csa-internationa...\091949_0_000-3812-01.xml&xsl=xsl/certrec.xsl
can't find anybody that supplies it retail though.
Hope this helps
Mr Frog.

Yeah thats it, All thats needed is to find a replacement which will fit in the pwm socket on the shift preferably blow vacuum cleaner level.

Looks Promising ill try to find a supplier tomorrow
Might have to use clamps instead of a connector

regards Gareth
looking athe the xda connector page on here at the h/f kit bit it says 3 x 47p which i have found these.....
SF84F EMIFIL 3 Term 47pF £0.01
Features
• 1205 size 3 terminal capacitors
• Compact and thin
• High level of noise suppression
• Excellent high frequency characteristics
Applications
• EMI suppression in various electronic equipment
• EMI suppression of AC signal lines and DC power lines
• Severe EMI suppression in high impedance
circuits such as digital
That seems about right
Gareth,
Those 4F EMIFIL 3 Term 47pF £0.01 seem right.
The stuff on the other page are what we call ELCO's over here. There are not suited for this particular job.
I recall the page saying 47pF as well. The value of this capacitor determines the frequency characteristics of the decoupling 'filter' we are making here. I had a couple of 1uF 's lying around here.
Since they are cheap you might consider buying both or even a third and see what that does to the sound.
I had good results so far, but you have to keep in mind that I like to drive fast and my car gets rather noisy then
Let me know what your results are!

Help with broken antenna

I managed to break my antenna and now I don't know if I'm missing pieces of it; There is a clear plastic body with a fixed bronze stud and a plastic cap. Is that It? I don't have the phone activated currently so I don't know if the reception will be affected. Does anybody know where to get a replacement?
I drive a Motorcycle to commute to work everyday, and I got one of those GPS holders so I drive around with my device in it to have the MP3 playing, anyway I didn't put it correctly and suddenly @ about 30 MPH I stopped hearing music; My PDA was 150 yards behind.
Anybody know how to post pic's if I don't have a server?
Pictures...
If you send me the pictures, I'll put them online and stick 'em in your message.
You were damn lucky to have only the antenna damaged...
I sent the pictures to your e-mail, Unfortunately not only the antenna got damaged, the aftermarket leather cover that I bought (Krusell) has the edges exposed so that area got scratched also, there's even a crack on top of the earbud connector, but that's minor.
So anybody know where to buy the antenna and covers replacement ?
Am I missing parts for the antenna assembly?
Thanks for your help.
Great forum.
Miguel

Yes, it looks like there's stuff missing.
Actually, I ended up breaking my antenna by pulling my XDA out of my pocket so many times by the antenna. Eventually, it just popped off.
Inside is a small spring that apparently acts as an antenna. Once that popped out and got lost, I was unable to recieve any signal from my XDA. I called T-Mobile and RMA'd the phone. My new one works just fine, and I've been careful to go easy on the antenna.
I had the same and found that a cut down spring from a pen (the one that goes arround the ink thing does a good job at replaceing the antenna coil.
Haveing said that I retuned my device as was given a replacement as well

Any DSM owners on here?

I didnt find any other threads for this so I made one. Just looking to see if any DSM owners are on here, meaning if you own a Mitsubishi Eclipse 1989-1999, Eagle Talon 1990-1998, or a Plymouth Laser 1990-1994 post here.
1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS, picked it up last year in February for $850, with about 190k on it with a new timing belt, and clutch. Its still pretty much bone stock it only has a short ram intake and 3.5MM MSD ignition spark plug wires.Cosmetic changes are black painted center piece, GS wheels, aftermarket chrome halo projector headlights on the car when I got it, and pilot fog lights also on the car when I got it.
From day one to now.

Poetic Nexus 7 Case Mod

I hate dongles. There, I said it. I. Hate. Dongles.
With the OTG capabilities and the enormous (relatively) storage capability of SD cards these days, it seemed that using a dongle with the N7 was inevitable. So I took the plunge and got one. But what to do about strain relief and <sigh> that damned floppy dongle getting in my way all the time?
I added Velcro strips to the case and to the dongle in order to keep it in place and out of my way when I was using it. Two wide strips on the back of the case, and one on the front provide more than adequate anchoring so that the N7 can sit on my desk in landscape mode AND hold the dongle in place and out of the way without a problem. It also keeps the mini USB socket from sustaining any damage from the dongle flopping around.
Here's the photos of what I did and I'm very satisfied with the end result.

As long as it works for you admittedly otg cables and dongles are not very handy things, I'm sure someone could come up with an all in one solution that matches the base line of the tablet and looks like a short extension of it.
No luck yet but im hopeful
I have send email and a small drawing to a hand full of connector design companies . Asking them about a ribbon like micro usb connector something that would be very slim low profile.. IF i get someone willing to make them . i will start a thread asking for those wanting a low profile usb otg to buy into getting the minimum made. Its like to be about 300 connectors at 25 cents to 1.00 each... There is a unlimited use for such a plug for this and other devices ..
Just thought i would add it as i see the stressful post .. I have a similar thing for my nexus Its ugly tacky and i do not like it .
Nice pics thou
I did something similar to my Poetic case last night., I just used industrial strength velcro, and less of it. Here's a few pics. I'm at work, and in a low light environment, so the pictures aren't great...

Battery Case for OnePlus 8T

This may sound weird but I'm not satisfied with the batter life of this phone.
Is there any battery case available or do you make one yourself?
Unfortunately, The Latter.
Here's mine!
Now finally the claims of "2 day battery life" sees the light of day.

I couldn't get my hands on Epoxy resin or silicon sealant so hot glue FTW, for now.
To not make it look ugly I just stuck a piece of torn jeans on top to make it bearable.
6Ah Li Po battery, 1A Power bank board, Portronics L-shaped USB-C cable, lots of hot glue, a flatback sacrificial case and patience are all you need to make one yourself.
Technical but it seems too ugly
Cool stuff!
hey, you could try to use someone's 3D printer and software to create a much cleaner housing/case for the external battery

ideally for strength I would go with CNC milling aluminium, or better yet, mill a new chassis and add 2x 4Ah cells in series, since the battery inside is 2x 2250mAh in series for 7.2v, but I'm working with what i have for the moment
I have ordered Battery case for my brand new One Plus 8T Araceli 10000 Mah since 22 days but still I have not received my order yet but trust me it look so great and exciting for the order. You guys must check out on AliExpress. SIPOTEK

I like this battery case
it's mind-blowing,,,
I actually just registered on this forum just so I could congratulate you on your work of art! I was looking for a battery case for my OnePlus 8t and found this post... I probably will not get around to duplicating your success... but I also had the same idea. At long last, I'm surrendering my Note 4 from 2015 with its ZeroLemon 10,000 mah battery which would go at least 2 days often 5 between charges. I joked that I could go on a 3-day drinking adventure and when I sober up my phone would still work to tell me where I'm at! Just kidding of course... I hardly drink. Anyway, your kind shall triumph! Ha ha! Keep up the handiwork!
Interesting work
