I'M READY TO FLASH!

Windows Mobile 6.5 help

SOrry if this is a stupid question but I was just hoping that someone can point me in the right direction and I would have looked through the forum but I just feel like with so many ROMs that I would have just got lost and confused.
So lately my Xperia has been bugging me frustrating me a whole lot so I was planning on flashing my first ROM and maybe I'll find something that gives me less trouble. So far it seems like Touch-It is the way to go because it is pretty legit. However I don't care much for touchflo so I am actually more interested in maybe trying a windows 6.5 rom and using SPB mobile shell 3.0.
So which ROM would be the absolute best for me. Panels are alright but I can do without them because I really don't change between them often, its too slow and I would rather Use ONE interface that I like a lot. I want speed because I am impatient. Don't want excessive bugs or issues. What is the best ROM to download in your opinion right now for Windows 6.5?
Or if you think you have another ROM suggestion go ahead and shoot. Oh, and please don't bash on me. I just want to have my xperia work well, I don't mean to annoy anybody

Getting New Xperia Today, need advice.

hi guys, im getting a brand new X1 today, and i need some sugestions i have been looking the forums and i have some questions:
i used and iphone for 2 years(i have xperience unlocking and jailbreaking the iphone), then an e71 and a blackberry 8310. this is my first winmo device and im clueless ( i saw a hardslp video).
- manila and tf3d is the same thing?
- what is exactly a hardslp? i understand that before flashing it i need to do that first.
- in order to have TF3D i need to do a full flash? or is just an addon?
- i have seen the winmo 6.5 roms should i upgrade?
- i need pptp suport,RDP client, navite Voip and internet tethering, all this solutions are included?
thx for any help in advance.
Don't get the X1... the X2 and the HTC Touch Pro2 is out.... what are you smoking?
i live in mexico, and i cannot get those phones!
You can get the Touch Pro 2 in Mercado Libre.. I'm from Mexico, and if you can live without D-Pad... Touch Pro 2 is the one for you. (that's the one I will replace my X1 with.. but I love the D-Pad Functionality)
Get the X1, it's a great phone.
And has hardware controls, TP 2 doesn't and it sucks.
As for your questions, what I know:
To have WM 6.5 you need to use custom ROM.
Mind it's unofficial so you know - there can be some bugs and things
nobody knows about...
TF3d is probably an add on.
Me personally - I tried it and for me it's more of a gimmick,
not really functional.
I prefer SE panels.....
But it's personal.
TP2 sucks. TF3D is ugly as hell. WinMo 6.5 is buggy and unofficial.
Get the X1. Install the official R3A ROM, if you are not happy, you can always try a custom ROM. After you are happy with that, you can start hunting for apps.
Don't forget - iPhail is a feature phone at best, but the X1 is a pocket computer.
For the first three question you should read the info in the ROM section of the forum. You have to do some reading and understand it all, before trying to flash. Second hand knowlwdge is as bas as no knowledge.
You can get EVERYTHING you might need with apps, if it is not supported from the box.
lol why do you guys say the TP2 suck?

basically due to hima memory constrain, there is nothing much to add, so most of hima rom are clean. only some of the rom are customized with themes and skin
aeroflyluby if you have the time, can u cook us a clean 6.1 with default M$ theme & skin? a must to request, .NET 3.5 too
Okay I will try tommorow, now im so tired.
thank you aeroflyluby
many many thanks for your offer and time aeroflyluby
a big cheers to you

I would suggest Ather's Dark Edition as basic, as it it is commonly known as one of the most stable clean rom ever. As far as I know, the only issues I remember to be improved, could be changing screen rotation and serialusbfn .dlls and adding speakerphone for better usage.
Adding netcf3.5 is not as easy as it sounds because it is really huge compared with 2.0!! It is nearly impossible to remove enough apps to get the space in memory to build it in!
Hi, newquaymarc. Nice signature - That's quite the same as i meant in mine.
eee, speaker phone is not holding green button?
Sorry my himalaya friends, but today i'm gonna kill myself, I will cook 21054 tommorow, okay? I will, I promise!
Peace and Love to You my friends!

Well, I never found a way to use the phone handsfree, as in WM2k3SE times, so I added it to my rom as a fingertip gesture. As I remember, this function leeks in WM5 & 6.X.
ello all, im still alive but buzy as hell, i know i promised a ROM but im really sorry i have been veryy buzy with work
hopefully, this week im kinda free so i can look into my kitchen again
@aeroflyluby : nice work you'r doing for the Hima Lovers, as for the Speaker it was removed from WM2003, so is the STK
cheers muckelmaus
i have no use for hands free.
im using wm 6.1.1c16csand radio 1.17 at the moment.
i just dont need encryption/backup pim/tray launch/new menu for wm5office mobile/games/ftouchflo/ptab/speaker phone/wktask/wm5storage
ive never used any of these and just need more memory free
i have google maps on all the time and msn and keep getting out of memory errors
cheers
I guess, I understand, what you want. But you have a little problem with understanding what happens, when you delete proggis from a running rom. You can delete as much as you want, you'll never get more usable memory in ram. The only thing you get is, more sectors free in rom, to build in new features. These apps you mentioned are all verry small, between 10 and 250kB, (exept office) you hardly get enough room for netcf 3.5, which is about 4MB! I am sorry.
oh poooh
i will have to strugle on
but many thanks for the info
cheers
like i asked before in another thread..
is it possible to build a WM 6 ROM with TRANSPARENT upper and lower bars on today screen...and honey comb start menu...?
thanx in advanced
It's not, that's 6.5 features only. but 6.5 could be lightweight too!

[Q] The Best ROM(s) on Touch Pro 2

Hi,
I am a newbie when it comes to smartphones and the rest. And this is exactly why I'd like to know what is/are the best ROM(s) on Touch Pro 2.
I'm currently using Windows Mobile 6.5.
The criteria should be:
- Visual effects
- Responsiveness (speed)
- Ease of use
- Minimal usage of the RAM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562773
this coming also from a newbie, which is using this ROM for a couple of months now. good luck!
There is no "best" ROM. It depends on your individual needs and preferences. Many people here generally frown upon questions like this, because its an insult to the hard work that the chefs do to create the custom ROMs, to recommend one over the other.
At the risk of contradicting myself a bit, I know the choice can be overwhelming for n00bs. So I will just briefly mention my personal experience. I used Energy for a long time, tried Deep Shining, and simplicity is my current favorite. But that doesn't mean that other ROMs are not great also. Valkyrie and Jackos also get lots of good response on these forums.
Thank you very much! I'll read through right away!!!
Oops! I didn't know I was trespassing. However, thank you for understanding me. I'll further my research using the names of ROMs you've given me. Thank you once again!
The fastest ROM I've ever tried was OndraSter's TouchFlo 3D ROM. Its probably the fastest ROM for the TP2.

Try the JackOS ROM, i'm a fan! It's stable as a rock and he added OCT, so your phone is overclocked to 710Mhz by default.
He is a perfectionist as he wants to minimize memory leaks (read: low mem usage).
I can really recommend his roms
Grtz,
FeareX
I too am new to Windows Mobile and found my ATT Tilt 2 a bit slow.
I've HardSPLed my phone, loaded all the different ROMS from NRG and after running them for quite some time, and screwing with them found that there are things left out that only the stock ROM provides....as in:
GPS
keyboard functions even after loading the keyboard fix it will not retrack.
Widgets that go missing after you have set them up....
Little things.....
I went back to the upgraded ROM form HTC.
I would suggest the same....
There's crudscraper which will free up some space and a couple of cabs that will give you 16 quick links and contacts but.......
I would suggest loading the basic HTC rom and purchasing SPB Shell.
Quite frankly, IT WORKS.
Later....
Go find the ROMs Wildchild builds. They are like stock ROMs but MUCH MUCH more stable and fast. Lean and mean. Link in my sig.
My 2 cents. Tried many over extended period of time from:
- simplest eras2r (but one of the most solid-like-a-rock with a good battery and performance) to
- Energy's huge variety of choices
- Wild Child's
- Simplicity's (was not very simple for me, had a couple of stability issues)
- etc. etc. etc.
Has never had a chance to actually try Jackos's. Just now tried Jackos's full s2 ROM. Flying, tons of storage and program memory, right programs, right layout for me. If this baby is stable, not sure will ever look for something else.
My personal opinion go with latest Jackos ROM, OndraSter did also meke some good ones, but no sense ...
I guess there really isnt too much to say anymore but just to try them all... The only thing i do suggest is making sure you do the "task 29" ( forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649191) between flashes just so u know ur getting the most purity from all ur roms. Different roms offer different things and as u go through there post the objectives of the roms. Another thing i suggest you try is, getting a rom like Jackos S2, disabling sence from the options and trying the android prj. But at the end of the day u find the rom that fits u!
What ROM cooked with Maxsense would you suggest to a newbie like me?
