Fast ROM + 4 Calender Items? - Touch HD Windows Mobile ROM Development

Hi there,
I've lost overview of the many, many ROMs to try. Maybe someone can help me ...
There are only two features that are important for me:
1) speed and smoothness
2) I want to see 3 (better 4) calender items on the home tab
ad 2) is there another way than using cookie monsters home tab (this needs sense 2.5 and that means the ROM is too slow. I think WM 6.1 and Manila 2.1 would be best.)
Thanks in Advance,
ausgang

Well, try searching a bit harder next time
Topix 3.5 WM6.1 Manila 2.1 Sense weather should be a good choice for you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460640
The non-weather one has a rather old Manila, wouldn't actually recommend that.

if you want a Manila 2.1 rom with 6.5.x build (start menu and close button at the bottom) I recommend BlackstoneHenge

@semicuda: I am not 100% sure, but I think I already tried this. As I can remeber theres no way to get 3-4 calender items in the Home Tab...

From 6.1 to 6.5 help

Hello guy,
Which nice guy wants to help me to install on my XPERIA WM6.1 to 6.5 but very detailed.
Care roman ma ajuta sa trec de la 6.1 la 6.5.
Thx
ummmm
reading the stickies or the million other threads with the same title might help
A standard answer to this question from my side is here.
Not much related to the main question but:
I am still sticking with 6.1 because i like the HTC Manilla start menu replacement over Windows default programs menu, and with all 6.5 ROM's there is always the Win6.5 HoneyComb start menu.
is there any way to re-enable HTC manilla programs on WinMo6.5?
I am not really sure if I understand your question correctly...
Manila is the user i/f of HTC, not a part of WinMo.
For some older Manila versions, there exist cab files to install HTC apps on WinMo.
However, speed will be much faster if you flash a ROM with WinMo and Manila inside.
There are quite a few nice 6.5 ROMs with either Manila 2.1 or 2.5 - while you
might prefer 2.1 because this one usually has the program tab separate.
On the other hand, WinMo 6.1 ROMs still feel faster, imho, and the latest ones
do come with the latest Manila 2.1, too.
What i meant is the start menu (upper left windows icon) of the Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5, in the 6.1 Manilla can replace it with it's applications launcher, which is usually just a tab of manilla, while on WinMo 6.5 i found no roms that can replace it, WinMo6.5 will still have it's start menu programs launcher...
Well, ok then.
WinMo 6.5 does not have any start menu which is comparable to 6.1 - it is replaced by the honeycomb screen.
If you do not like Manila, but search a program launcher like the tab in Manila, you might try other apps for WinMo, such as PointUI.

It's the contrary, i like only Manilla and don't want windows's honeycomb, i want a way to let manilla replace the honeycomb as it did in winmo 6.1.

Well, that´s what all ROMs with Manila do.
Whatever you install, as long as it comes with Manila, no need to use WinMo
(at least in most cases).

Not all, the roms that have WinMo 6.1 and Manilla it can be done, the manilla will replace the standard start menu with it's programs tab, removing the tab from the tabs bar. While on roms with 6.5 (at least those up to 1 month ago) didn't do it, the start button opened the WinMo6.5 honey comb even with Manilla installed and working, the programs launcher is just a tab on Manilla....

Whatever you mean, mate.
Maybe it is just a misunderstanding here. Just keep searching what you need, and either you will find a ROM, or a registry tweak.
I think what he wants is for the WM6.5 start button to launch the Manila programs tab, and not the 6.5 honeycomb start menu.
McByte: older 6.1 TF3D ROMs (or some of the newer ones, depending on the chef) launch the default 6.1 Start Menu (like Windows 98/XP) when you click on the start button.
You can ask the chefs if the can integrate the Programs tab to the WM6.5 start button, but I don't think it's possible. That feature comes from the Manila it was ripped from (e.g. Rhodium/Topaz vs. TP2/Leo). HTC provided that feature since the default 6.1 start menu was not finger friendly. 6.5 start menu is, so they didn't bother putting that in.

Stable ROM with Win 6.5.1 and Manila 2.5

So....
I have a TP2 ( RHO100 ) and I have the stock WWE rom from HTC with WM6.5 installed but now the the HD2 is out I've seen videos of it with the new Manila 2.5.
And I have fallen in love with the wdiget home screen and new fully screen weather animations. I am also very interested in the ability to have threaded SMS.
I have tried doing some searches for ROMs that contain the new manila 2.5 but I am not sure which one would be best. A lot of them seem to make their own preferential upgrades, or they removed parts to make them faster, but I am a little wary they may cut out things that I want.
Can anyone recommend a ROM that is as close to the stock as possible, whilst just upgrading to WM6.5.1 and Manila 2.5, with all the original stuff. I'd like to customise my taskbar etc myself rather than have it chosen for me...
What can you guys recommend?
That's a good question. I don't know if a total stock ROM exist with 6.5.1/3 and Manila 2.5.
Give it a try

Can I also back this question, that is exactly what I am looking for.
Hi,
My experience...
I have tried many roms (energy, athineos, josh's, fusion...) and first, I think, you have to decide if you want:
- windows mobile 6.1(very old), 6.5, 6.5.1 or 6.5.3. There are separates into 2 categories (6.1 and 6.5 / 6.5.1 and 6.5.3). The most difference I have noticed is that the button "Start" is on the top left corner or at the bottom of the screen.
- manila 2.1 or 2.5. The version 2.5 is most recent but there are many bugs for the landscape mode. It doesn't work for many tabs. But it is the best of both version. The version 2.1 is working fine.
After, for all roms I have tried, every times I have some bugs. Often there are very very minor problems (example: bugs with the lock screen, freeze, slow performance...) and to solve them I just have to soft reset the phone. I think it depend of your provider, rom radio, utilization of your phone: bluetooth with headset, software you use...
You must also choose the design you prefer.
Testing is the best way to find your best rom.
Very big thinks to all chief who work hardto create these roms.
I hope it can help you and you can read my bad english;-).
Bye.

Vinsyl, thanks very much yes, elab is right, you make some good points.
However, may I digress...
I have already done a lot of investigating into the differences between the builds....
- I mentioned that I want to see 6.5.1 because it's more stable and more importantly has threaded SMS, which is what I'm after more than anything.
- It's only 6.5.3 from what I can tell which has moved the start menu to those silly blobs at the bottom.
- After research I also came to the conclusion that it Manila 2.5 was heavily buggy in pre-release, especially in landscape mode..... however, having now seen a full release on the HD2 and I'm guessing working in full landscape mode with all it's own apps, I was guessing that one of the CHEF's will have had a chance to rip Manila 2.5 out of the HD2 and whack it in a TP2 rom.
So Remember, I'm not looking for a STOCK rom, that comes from HTC. I'm looking for a Stock ROM base, cooked up to WM 6.5.1 with a seasoning of Manila 2.5 and no further additives. Is there a chef willing to try something so CRAZY?!

6.5 does threaded SMS. (it's the first thing I turn off though, I hate it) You will need a tweak program to enable / disable, sometimes the cook will provide something built in. (sometimes in Start -> Settings -> System menu there is a "Threaded SMS" icon, otherwise use Rhodium Tweak Tool or HD Tweak one of those will do it)
And 6.5.1 has the "silly blobs at the bottom" same as 6.5.3
If you want start menu at the top you want 6.5 (or 6.1 I suppose). Also if you are looking for STABLE you want 6.5.
6.5.1 / 6.5.3 are from leaked Microsoft BETA code and therefore aren't really designed to be stable, of course you may find they are stable for you, I used to run a 23064 (one of last 23xxx builds with start menu at top) EnergyROM and it was awesome. Also with the build numbers, a general rule is 21xxx is 6.5, 23xxx is 6.5.1 and 28xxx is 6.5.3. But there is a better post you may want to search for regarding this, goes into more detail if you are interested.
Good luck in your quest

Hay community...
I flashed this "Energy" Rom yesterday. Before that I was using the latest TAEL rom... this tael rom is windows mobile 6.5.5 and on this version I got this twitter tab but the speed of my system wasn't really good (I also tried some "tweaks" no improvement... also the landscape mode was missing when I slided out the softkeyboard. So I considered to flash this Energy rom.. quite nice.. looks really cool but now.. the twitter tab is missing... the homescreen is a bit different (the program shortcuts seem to be moved to another tab )
and this rom also consumes lots of ram >_< (in addition there are some problems with the landscape mode like strange stripes in the menu bars or title bars)
is there any documentation or information source how I can customize this manila thing completely without cookin a new rom?
and question two.. can anyone tell me a rom series that is well known to be fast and stable (but also with some eyecandy
thanks 4 reading... and excuse me 4 my bad english :/ I'm from germany x]

There are some roms that have the ability to remove tabs for you to use it is in the settings tab. On the rom that i am using it is a TAEL rom where you can click on setting tab, then go to personalize & then click on home screen tabs. check there to see if it is in there or may have to add the tab by modifing the reg.
Im not sure if there is a way too simply add a Twitter tab, I believe most of the times its already cooked in these Roms...
Anyhow depending on what Energy Rom you flashed, there should be a Twitter tab on the Energy Leo Rom, tho its not (in my opinion) as stable as the Energy Phoenix 2 Rom...

Have you tried adding Twitter as a program for Windows Mobile??? I mean if thats the case I think this link can help you out....
//forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480119&highlight=twitter
Here is a more popular Twitter client app that's free.....
freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-motweets.html
yeah I'm currently usin' motweets.. but in this settings tab I already looked for this twitter tab..
hmm I'm currently using the phoenix2 rom...
but I wonder why you can add your twitter account, google mail account and youtube account (theire natively integrated in the settings tabs menu Ö_ö)... I'm a bit confused...
hmm but I think everything you can change while cookin a rom should be able to change on the running system (except for kernal and other critical processes). in fact this manila or sense or what ever this Kick-ass HTC homescreen is called is just a running programm and it should have some config files.. but I am not able to find them cause I'm hatin the laggy windows folder.. microsoft sux ballz >_< why couldn't they distribute those files in some more folders >_<
The Phoenix 2 rom uses manila 2.1, not manila 2.5. Use Energy "Leo" rom for manila 2.5, which has a twitter tab.
yo.. but leo sux ballz
as howudoinn7 said.. its slow and buggy...
has anyone recognized some display errors in landscape mode ,too?
in energy2 rom as some stripes in title bars
and in that tael rom the chef totally forgot the landscape mode hm? the homescreen becomes black if I slide out my softkeyboard only the startmenu bar rests on the right side and the status bar on the left side .__.
in my opinion "leo" works better there's bugs but when isn't there? it runs smother for me so you should give it a try before saying it sucks
I've tried both and Leo's sense 2.5 seems just as quick as 2.1 from phoenix2 roms, especially since he started using the rhodium version of sense 2.5.2012. I prefer the version without maxmanilla. .. it seems less buggy. I'm using cookies home tab mod instead. works great.
blopblopblop
i already tried leo..
maybe these things seem like they do cause I'm not a great friend of tweakin
i wish android would be available... i like unixoid OSes more than microsofts OSes x]
sad about microsofts sick wannabe world ruler stategies x] does anyone know a stable android port to a htc raphael phone? (i would also be pleased with a kiss oriented WM version the raphael )

When choosing a ROM and whatever goodies that will have, we should also put things in perspective to Check Manila 2.5 Version since there are Sense 2.5's ported FROM Leo (1Gb) and from Rhodium (512 MB). The ease of use will definitely matter considering that point alone. That in itself already spells a lot of difference. Plus the fact that Sense 2.5 are intended for WVGA devices. All the rest you find for VGA are ported.
Bugs will either be there or can be resolved thru tweaks.
Hope that helps.
Hey what about the sense 2.1 themes??
Hi there, well i've been reading your comments and suddenly i thought i have my raphael with Energy ROM installed but what about if i want to install a new theme?? the DiamondTF3D doesn't work and the sense 2.1 i little bit different to install a theme on it manually, so any idea??? Thnx

which 6.5.x/Sense 2.1 ROMS are still being supported? Anyone still using them?

I'm wondering who is still developing ROMs with the latest versions of Windows (6.5.3, 6.5.5, etc) but Sense 2.1. I'm trying to resist the fancy 2.5 beause it seems to be a lot less legible for someone with poor vision. Serge had been promising a new release but has not mentioned it in months. NRGZ28 makes one but shows no images of it. I'm not sure who else is still working in these.
Anyone out there still favoring these? If so, what are you using?
Thanks
The NRG ROM is pretty good, you should try it out. I would like to see more Chefs build 2.1 ROMs too though.
I think the only WM6.5 Sense 2.1 ROM being currently supported and updated is Energy ROM. I am using it and its awesome.
I think Sense 2.5 has more problems than benefits as compared to Sense 2.1, and more chefs should support Sense 2.1...
Anyways cheers to NRG, I am a big fan and supporter
Im also using NRGZ28 titanium with manila 2.1 current version (June19 with start button on top). I looked for a while for a 2.1 built but couldnt really find any with good info on the rom. I wish he would post more pictures of the rom and describe what programs are installed you know more info for every one to read rather than jumping the ship to find out what the rom has
Sergio just said he will update the 2.1 ROMs soon
Any of the NRG users using the 6.5.x ROMs with the menus on the bottom?
I am, and it is freaking fantastic. Its beautiful, and I get really good battery life with it, not to mention a ton of memory. I would highly recomend it to someone looking for sense 2.1 6.5.x ROM.
Hollywould, what ROM are you using exactly?
I am using Energy ROM 23569 Sense 2.1 June 19 build. Is that what you wanted to know?
Yeah. It is. When I go to his thread, there's only the 2.5 builds to download from... Where can I get that specific rom? [sorry, I'm new to this lol]
If you go under Titanium ROM Build at the bottom of the first post, it'll be there. To save you time, here's the link.

Does anyone know of a solid 6.5.3 Titanium only ROM that also has the ATT keyboard.dll baked in and also doesn't have much in the way of icon/status bar customization? I'm looking for just a solid, fast, tons of free memory 6.5.3 Rhodium build that is ready to go for ATT.
Any mod available that displays multiple calendar items on your today screen with Sense 2.1?
In that case I would be interested to

NRG's has it. if you go to "Windows Start Key" -> Tools -> "Carrier Provisioning" will give give you 2 ATT & 2 T-Mobile setup options, turning one on will set up the keyboard properly.

That sets most of the normal keys but doesn't map all the function keys or OK button. It's a pain to use the keyboard mapper to fix this. I prefer to have one that is built especially for the ATT hardware out of the box to avoid this.

it has served me exceedingly well over the whole time. it is discontinued and is outdated in terms of its build number (a great pity) but for all intents and purposes is a great stock feel ROM with heaps of RAM, stability and speed. I tried looking around for a more recent ROM to replace this but could not find one that appeared to retain the stock HTC feel. Hope this helps

WM 6.5 Kitchen with manila 2.5(Recemondation)

Is there a Kitchen available that is wm6.5 with manila 2.5. I tried to port it but I keep getting errors in the rom,(all I get is the todayscreen with no other tabs and no soft buttons)( or manila 2.5 doesn't load at all) I dont know how to fix this so I am asking if anyone has a kitchen or knows where I can get one with wm 6.5 not 6.5.x with manila 2.5
I am confused by your request - if am not misunderstanding you, then just download OsKitchenZero by airextreme, import the stock 2.07 Rhodium Rom, and you have your kitchen with manile 2.5 and normal 6.5. Thats how I started but have imported a 6.5.x build and rebased to that. Very happy.

Dosen't the Rhodium 2.07 have manila 2.1, I am trying to get the manila from hd2
Nope, it came with Manila build 2012. (Which is 2.5 as far as I know)
I have found that all the later ones from the HD2 that have the extended tabs use up a lot of memory when run with Cookie Home Tab. (if that is what you are after then that is a later build of 2.5 and I do not think it exists natively on the Rhodium - obviously it can and has been cooked in Rhodium ROMS, but was not meant for it.)
I have found that running Manila 2012, with Cookie Home Tab 1.6.1 and disabling tabs I do not use (music, internet, stocks,Photos - I mean I just run Opera or S2P from the quicklinks - dont need a tab) gives a faster and more reliable system. I have found the memory management on 23569 when combined with manila to be excellent. My phone idles at around 30-35% free and regains memory when you close apps.
I have also inserted the HTC messaging 1.8 (from build 2015) in the mix as well, works fine).
WOW I feel like the guy who just wlaked out of the stall with a string of tolit paper stuck to the bottem of his shoe:S

sorry - not my intention. justt trying to share what little experience i have.
i could never get all the roms with all the nice eye candy to work consistently enough and be stable over say 3 to 4 days for me to be happy.i would still recomend air extremes kitchen, then follow his link for the latest leo packages, and upgrade to the manila you want that way.

crazyC, There are some excellent ROMS out there but they just aren't quite my flavor so I've decided it's time to cook my own. I just ran into this post (i know a little late) but i was hoping you'd answer the following since you have exactly what i wanted to build.
1. The most stable stock Rom i found for my phone is the ASIA 6.5, is this the same one you started your Kitchen from?
2. When you added the 1.8 HTC messaging client did you have to upgrade some of the other Sense packages too or just the client.
Thanks...
