Headset/adaptor with audio buttons? - HD2 Accessories

I've been wondering and cursing HTC over the years about their crappy headsets, but with the HD2 the situation is just terrible. How can you make a great looking headset with so cool audio buttons and put the cheapest possible earplugs in the world? Many manufacturers simply make the headset as an adapter, such that you can plug in any headphones to it.
So here's my question. Is there anything out there that combines the advantages of these two:

there isn't yet. however you can cut the earplugs of the original adapter and solder a female 3.5mm jack. it's really easy.

I followed this wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Leo/LEOHTCInEarHeadphones
Works great. Here is a picture

this is my headset now, followed the wiki, attached my broekn wired JBL Reference 410, and walla. here it is. feel so good in my ears. (sad that i cannot attach the volume controller because im running out of the wires. lol).

I want to do the same with my headset the only worry is that its a 250$ Denon headset so realy dont want to mess it up.

I have done the headphone mod to my HTC stock device, but I have also tried the .cab file floating around that means you can use iphone designed headphones on HD2.
I was having a beer with a mate who has an iphone the other night and tried out his stock headphones and found they skipped tracks and played/paused tracks on my sense player, although the volume buttons didn't seem to work. Also, weirdly the screen locked every time I skipped tracks. Hope this helps anyone having this problem as it seems very common.

I really wished that HTC came with headset like the Nokia N95 8gb (see image below)
The remote part is the best bit as you can add any normal headphone to and still be able to use the remote, plus it has all the controls you need really, eg Volume, play pause, stop. Th

I just found this on the HTC website as an accessory for the HD2, however it isn't clear if it has a radio antenna built in, and it doesn't seem to have any controls for music playback such as pause, forward/back.

Hi all, Just upgraded to a HD2 from my Zest, I too am interested in this, could you post a link to the cab file if possible.
I've read about that the iphone headset will just work with the HD2 but only play.pause works, I mainly want to be able to skip tracks, so any help would be appreciated.
Does any one know how these remotes work, Is it just a sound played through the input of the phone or is it something more complicated, maybe we could write an application for this.

Ok so this is the set up I now have,
I have an iPhone in-line remote connected to my HD2 and I'm using the app from this thread to add functionality for skipping tracks.
The remote I have is from a seller on amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001C0LBEG/ref=oss_product
Hope this helps some people out there.

Any with Volume control also ?

[REVIEW]Motorola S10-HD Stereo Bluetooth Headset

Howdy folks, your friendly neighborhood mod ashasaur here with a review of my new Motorola S10-HD stereo Bluetooth headset. As the name suggests, this is a Bluetooth headset that no only supports stereo sound, but REQUIRES a device that has stereo Bluetooth(A2DP) support, and that my friends...is what the HD2 has. Anywho, the review!
DEVICE-The device itself is really nice, great build quality. It comes with 4 sets of rubber ear dome-thingies so if you have giant ass ears like me you can switch the domes to ones that fit more snuggly. Included in the box are the domes, instructions and a Micro USB charger. The device has several physical buttons-Volume Up/Down, Play/Pause, Track Skip, Track Back, Power and End/Send. It is available in either jet black or silver.
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS-As I said above, you have to have a device that has stereo Bluetooth capabilities, also known as A2DP, which the HD2(and many newer HTC devices) has. The S10-HD works with both Windows Mobile and Android from my personal testing. I am using the newest Energy ROM, and Froyostone Sense v3.2, and stereo sound and calling works great under both operating systems.
FEATURES-One of the best features of the S10-HD is that it's volume controls are independent of WinMo's or Android's. Meaning, you can have your device's volume at any setting, and the volume on the headset is independent of this setting, which means that you don't have to fiddle with the volume slider on the phone in order to get a reasonable level, you can use the buttons on the headset...and your normal ringtone/system volume remains unaffected on your device. Now, one downside is that system audio is NOT pushed to the headset, IE new text or e-mail notifications still play on the speaker of your device, which is kind of a downer. Another downside is that in order for phone call audio to be pushed to the headset, you MUST answer a phone call using the Call End/Send button the the headset itself. Using the screen or buttons on the phone to answer the call will default them to the mic/speaker of the phone instead. The last downside is that the buttons on the headset, other then Call End/Send and the volume keys don't actually do anything under WinMo. I am currently looking into this and will update if I find out how to make them work, as they do work under Android.
SOUND QUALITY-The S10-HD features, in my opinion, better than average sound quality. The range of the headset is pretty damn good in my opinion. I always keep my HD2 in a holster on my left side, and the sound, even when walking/jogging is consistent with no fuzziness or fade ins/outs. However, the microphone is rather far away from your mouth, on your right ear no less, so you do have to speak up for people to hear you on a call. The sound quality itself is rather good for wireless headphones, and almost comparable to the stock HTC wired headphones, or any other wired set for that matter.
BATTERY LIFE-The battery life of the S10-HD is actually pretty decent for a stereo headset. On standby you will easily get 5-6 days, and connected you will get 7ish hours of music listening and 8ish hours of talk. It takes around 3 hours to fully charge the battery from dead.
PRICE-The Motorola S10-HD is available from stores in the US such as Best-Buy and Target for around 80USD, sometimes a little lower(I got mine for 50 bucks on sale).
PROS/CONS
PROS:
Lightweight
Good sound quality
Good battery life
Decent price
CONS:
Hardware buttons don't do anything
Calls aren't always pushed to headset
System audio doesn't play through headset
FINAL SCORE-8/10
Overall, it's a great little stereo headset, and you really can't go wrong for the price. Highly recommended!

S9s are way Better
Just Got the S10 after my S9 broke and here is what I think:
The S9-HD is way better than the S10-HD, Motorola really screwed up on this one in my opinion. The sound quality on the 10 compared to the 9 is terrible, bass is nearly non existent. The S9 was a little wider and shorter compared to the S10 which is more narrow and longer which means that the 9 fit comfortably and formed to the back of my neck so I could wear and big coat with a thick collar and still have nothing hanging off the back of my neck hitting my coast every time i turn my neck, and the damn ear buds fall off whenever I take em off my head.....I really wish I would have bought some replacement s9s instead of the new s10s they were way better.
so here is my two cents for anyone who cares........GET THE S9-HDs!!
---------- Post added at 08:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 PM ----------
If your device has A2DP Bluetooth functionality then they will work, but get the S9's.
nice device works fine
In my opinion, I think the best Bluetooth headset is The Nokia bh-503
if you want a cheap pair you can pick them up on eBay for about 20-30 dollars
I Had mine for a year an some change and i have no complaints, I recommend them too all my friends, I use them at the gym 4 times a week, and i charge them on arrange once every two weeks, they hold a charge for a long time, Crisp clean sound
I tried the the Motorola S-9 HD and i had alot of problems with them playing music and just staying connected to my Phone HD2,
heres the link to Nokia bh- 503 on eBay, on sale for 19 dollars think i might pick up a spare pair =)

Sound related issues on Jellybean

Hi guys, I'm on the official LM5 Jellybean firmware, and have a couple of issues to share.
1. When I'm listening to music (speaker or earphones), during quiet portion of the song (ie. intro, outro) the sound doesn't come out when the volume is at level 1, like it'd be dead silent. As soon as the song progresses to louder portions, the sound comes back. This bothers me because I use noise canceling earphones and I don't need the volume to go higher than 1 or 2.
2. Also, another issue is when I unplug my earphones while the music is playing, the phone doesn't automatically pause the music (like it did on ICS), and it would continuing playing thru the loud speaker.
If anyone can confirm the same issues (especially on LM5) that'd be great!
You sure it's not your headphones dropping the sound? Tried others?

I'm almost certain that it's not my earphone's fault. I've tried two pairs, and even when music is playing through the loudspeaker at volume 1, when I put my ear up against it, I can hear silence when the song is quiet.
I don't think it's the mp3 file's fault either because I've tried playing youtube Vevo songs too.
Was the other pair a regular headphone, or noise cancelling as well? Just sounds like some sort of noise cancelling effect. But you never know.
Never noticed it on mine.

I've tried the my Sony noise cancelling headphones, the stock Samsung ear bud earphones, and regular iPod earphones. And as I mentioned, it doesn't even play out of the loud speaker, so I'm sure it's not a hardware issue, more like something to do with the codecs. The relatively quiet sounds just doesn't come out at all when it's at volume 1 or 2.
For me, if I listen to this song's beginning (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb9CuupX5-Q), at volume 1, it's really choppy because of the quieter portion. At volume 3+, it plays fine.
If you have time, can you try it on yours (LM5?). See if you can hear a difference between volume 1 and volume ~5.
What are you using to play? I don't have volume steps as in 1 or 3. Or are you just using this as one notch from mute etc.

Yep -- this is a bug that is still not fixed. It affects wired and speaker audio -- but supposedly not Bluetooth. A lot of people just don't notice it, because of the music they listen to, but try listening to Classical and it will drive you nuts.
We need to complain to Samsung...
Well looks like I'm not alone on this issue. The thing is this problem didn't exist before I upgraded to jellybean, I wonder what they did to ye firmware that made this happen.
Hopefully Samsung will fix this.

It did exist before jellybean -- on both TouchWiz and CM ROMS. Perhaps it has been made worse with JB, but trust me it has always been there.

It never happened to me when I was on ICS, and now it's here with JB, so I'm kind of disappointed.

headset has been working fine.
had to purchase because i could not get any other brand/type to work with the mic controls
(wanted to be able to control calls, music, volume, etc)
yesterday, came home, was on a call (using headset), everything fine. (i use that darn thing 24/7, i absolutely hate
having to hold a phone to the side of my face)
put phone down for about an hour, i came back, was going to listen to some music, i noticed that the headset icon wasnt
showing up at top of screen....
removed headset....plugged back in...nothing
plugged back in, turned on some music, phone is not recognizing the headset.
decided to try to clean headjack, powered down phone, restarted, did everything short of reinstalling my rom.
at that point, i grabbed my old pair of urBeats, plugged them in and guess what, phone recognized them and they played music,
sounds, movies, just fine.
grabbed my stock HTC one headset (ones that came with the phone) and those worked just fine as well.
so i figured, ok, must be the headset.
i then plugged in the headset into my wifes iphone and also a random ipod and what do you knw, headset works
i decided to call HTC support, talked to a tech for about 30 mins, ran some troubleshooting,
he could not believe what was going on.
i ended up ordering a new replacement headset, i cannot live without the mic and music controls,
so i am really really hoping this new headset works (should have in a few days)
otherwise, i have no idea what the heck is going on....???
i've searched and saw that some people are having problems with the headset jack going out or trouble with headsets
but my problem is literally only with this particular headset,
maybe i shorted it out or something, but i am really hoping that is the case,
i will update in a few days when i receive my new headset.
BOTTOM LINE IS FOR SOME REASON, MY PHONE IS NOT RECOGNIZING THIS PARTICULAR
HTC HEADSET ANY LONGER, EVEN THOUGH THE HEADSET SEEMS TO BE PHYSICALLY FINE AND
WORKS ON OTHER PHONES

do you have a case? sometimes on the case where the opening for the jack is at, the case doesnt leave enough room for the jack. so when you plug in it wont seat properly alot of headphones have this issue sometimes so that maybe something for you to look at.
i do have a case (i've had it all along) and yeah, it's got plenty of clearance for the jack,
it's just weird, it's like one minute my headset worked just fine, and the next, it's not triggering or "activating" on my phone.
i can plug in ANY other headset into my phone, and it works just fine. the headset logo pops up and all is well....
it's just this darn headset, but the funny thing is, again, that the HTC headset works on other devices!
it's like a bad dream, haha....
and all i want to do is control my calls and music with the control talk!
aj
Ok, UPDATE: i ordered a new set of these earbuds and i am good to go, so had to do with the headset itself....somehow they broke or shorted or something...so weird.
Funny thing is the old ones work on any other device except for my ONE

[Q] Can I disable one of the dual membrane mics on the HTC One (M7)?

I recently dropped my HTC One and the microphone is now knackered, people telling me they could only hear distortion on the other end (same if I used the voice recorder/recorded video).
The HTC One uses a dual membrane mic. After doing a self-diagnosis I found that 'Mic 1' was faulty, but that 'Mic 2' still works fine (which explains why people said they could vaguely hear my voice).
I have two questions:
1 - If I root my phone, is there any way of disabling Mic 1? If yes...
2 - Would Mic 2, when used alone, be adequately good/loud enough to use to make calls?
Many thanks,
Dan.

Second, i think you mean the mic on the backside, if you talk about Mic2?
Third, if you answer the Question, i´ll take a look at it. But i can tell you, that the Mic in the Back is a rear Mic for Recording Video-Sound or Noise Canceling.

Thank you for you reply. You're absolutely correct, I hadn't a clue what dual membrane means! I only discovered it had such a thing after doing the diagnostic test and finding it tested two mics, the second of which worked just fine. I therefore thought that maybe I could isolate the working mic in order to avoid a costly repair. I came across the term dual membrane after a quick Google, and rather than sift through useless information that did little to answer my question, I decided to call on the help of those more knowledgeable than myself (such as you!).
Having done the test again, you are correct; the dual membrane was a red herring and mic 2 was indeed the mic on the back (I didn't even realise there was a mic on the back!).
So my question is in fact: is it possible to use the rear microphone for voice calls? Although I imagine I would have to use loud-speaker to make it even remotely practical. I might just pick up a replacement for 15 quid (including replacement USB port, which I could do with anyhow) and have a go at fixing it myself. How hard can it be..?
I think it should be possible, i will look if its ROM- or Kernelside, to disable the front mic.
I would suggest to repair it or send it in, because i had the same issue, too.
But in my case im lucky with my contract and got a new one after a day.

Question Buds+ with S21Ultra - issue or feature?

Hi all,
From iPhone to S21 Ultra, and now having the issue with connecting Buds+, or maybe it's how they should work.
So, on iPhone when I open the lid of Airpods, they will connect but sound will not be transferred to headphones, it will happen when I place at least one of the pods in-ear and after taking it out, the sound will again be on phone, not pods.
With Buds+, the sound will be on buds the moment I open the lid, and only after I close it, it will be on phone again.
So, is this expected behavior (different than on the Apple ecosystem) or there is a way to make Buds+ behave like Airpods on iPhone? What I want in short:
1) Transfer sound to earpiece not when the lid is open but after earpiece is placed in the ear
2) Transfer sound back to the phone when the earpiece is taken off an ear.
Thanks

I don't have the Buds + currently. I'm using the Buds live. But the behaviour should be same, in line with Samsung design.
1. Music should only start playing once they are in the ear. However, it will start playing if you press play on the music app, even if the buds are not in your ears. If you have your music player set up to force trigger music play when connected to BT, it will play regardless of whether its in your ear or not.
2. Unlike airpods, Buds do not stop playing when you pull out one of them from your ears. You have to pull them both out for them to auto-stop playing.

Hey, thanks a lot for a quick answer.
Yeah, the behaviour should be the same for all buds, plus/live/pro.
I am not so concerned about music, the issue is that everything is transferred to earpieces, including phone ringing and message alerts. Yeah, I know, no one will open the lid if they don't want to use buds, but the problem is also battery drain since they are basically working while in case.
Usually, I am using only one bud since I am on phonecalls a lot or listening to some lectures, and yes, the sound will stop after I take out one earpiece while the other is in case, but still, sound (notifications, ringing) will still be in buds, not on the phone, which for me is frustrating (Airpods make me lazy, I assume )

I have both the Buds and Buds+
Once the case lid is closed they Buds are off and charging.
If you're having issues do a network reset and clear the system cache. Closely go over your settings; there are many and spread out all over the place including in notifications.
Using power management* will screw them up and other services, avoid using all power management!
The Buds should work seamlessly with a Samsung.
Unlike airpods they never fall out... goofy Apple.
For music listening I recommend using Poweramp if you have a music database. Use it's excellent graphic equalizer to dial the Buds+ in.

Yes, there are some really nice things Apple does with the user experience. There's a reason they sell a bucketload of devices at obscene profit margins. I tried the Airpods Pro. They were quite good TBH, would've bought them if I could stand iOS...
