ROM Signing - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When modifying a custom ROM on a rooted G1, how do I sign the final update.zip so recovery will flash it? (Using Amon-RA's latest)

You're looking for "testsign.jar". Search both here and in the themes forum; I forget where it's all explained best.

I got that by typing
sign update zip
in the search thingey

^Thanks! I did try a few forum searches but it never occurred to me to use update.zip as a keyword.

there was a tv show , here in the uk , oh I don't know years ago...
it was called catchphrase
little animated pics of 'mr chips' acting out a well known saying or phrase would , section by section become visible, and the contestants had to determine the said phrase etc..
Well, the host's ( Roy If remember correctly ) catchphrase was "say what you see"
bit like that with searches, only "type what you want"
Roy Walker !!

This should help too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3175518&postcount=2

just gonna ask, how do you know if it signed the zip, with out flashing the file lol... it just brought up the command prompt and closed it in like .25 seconds...

Code:
> jarsigner -verify -certs -verbose [I]update.zip[/I]
This may require the Java SDK; I don't really remember.
Look for 'sm' before the filenames:
Code:
PS C:\Users\patrick\Android> jarsigner -verify -certs -verbose Maps3.4.0.zip

temasek's UNOFFICIAL BUILD 135.4 - FINAL
NOTE
This is an UNOFFICIAL build of CM7 ( CyanogenMod 7 ) for p990 and by NO means this is my ROM. I am just compiling from CM Source and 100% credits goes to TeamDouche, the device maintainer of p990 Ricardo Cerqueira and all other coders who contributed to CyanogenMod.
This is similar to a nightly from CM but has some e8tra goodies baked in. If you can't handle some things possible being broken, please don't use this and then complain to me for building it.
NEW builds will be uploaded to http://temasek.hopto.org first. The other 2 sites will be uploaded with the builds at a later time. The new download site courtesy of Vadonka
- I'm back doing CM7 unofficial builds for now but pls do NOT expect daily updates. My day job currently is a hell lot busier than ever.
- File renamed as RCx-XX to reflect current status of Release Candidate.
- This unofficial build comes with 218 RIL
With effective #100, all builds are with PDroid frameworks. PDroid is the privacy protection framework (see svyat's PDroid thread). All the credit goes to svyat. Also credit to pastime1971 for his CM7.2 update patch of PDroid.
PDroid source updated from v1.27 to v1.32
PDroid Changelog
1.32: Fixed updating from version 1.27 and below
1.31: Fixed patching incompatibility with some ROMs (like Zeus v5)
1.30:
Fixed the alarm being put to snooze every time a call is received or made
Fixed FC for some applications (like Yandex Maps)
Fixed bootloops for AT&T and SonyEricsson devices (hopefully)
Many small tweaks

a permanent solution for NITZ fix
well, you gotta love all kinds of possible customization in android aka linux.
beside /system/build.prop (which is updated every flash), /data/local.prop can be used to define any custom property.
i moved "ro.telephony.nitz=GMT" to /data/local.prop, which will stay on your phone (almost) permanently.
now you don't have to flash NITZGMT.zip every time you flash cm. just data_local_prop_NITZ_GMT.zip once.
data_local_prop_NITZ_GMT.zip for SU660 0824BB/RIL & SU660 1120BB/RIL users
data_local_prop_NITZ_revert.zip for those who revert back to other BB/RIL
edit: also you can just edit /data/local.prop with any text editor. (just need root)

I believe if you don't use Automatic Time but use app lilke clocksync to sync your time, then you don't require to flash the above NITZ fix.

Probably I shall rest a day or so w/o builds.

Hey temasek,
I just realised the CRT animation is gone with the newer versions.
Is there any way to enable them? It is not as simple as enabling them in a xml right :S

Gone?
Nope, still around.
Settings -> CM Settings -> Display -> Sceen-off animation
But your spareparts -> Windows animations -> at least NORMAL settings (to enable u to see CRT animations)

What is project LARD ?
Project LARD is a implementation of newer, pure JellyBean samsung drivers for the following
- Mali GPU
- EGL drivers
- GLES drivers
They are simply kanged from the Note2 system dump with no other changes. Its not quite Butter, its LARD.
Can be used on official nightlies aswell and probably other cm10 based rom

thank you so much mate...ran out of Thanks, but really appreciate your effort
auto rotate doesn't work with 11/8 bulid
So we have daily updates here, or you can not call it nightlies.
I just installed the 11-08 Version. As already said landscape rotation does not work. Good is that long press recent apps is working in hybrid mode.

push libakm.so from preview 3 to /system/lib/ with correct permissions and you'll have rotation. it's just not there.
Thanks that works...

yes and no, I will be checking http://changelog.bbqdroid.org/#/cm10/undefined for changes made to our device and if changes are made I will start a new build! the time can vary a bit on when I build depending if I fall asleep after work! I work on the evening and early night! CEST (Central European Summer Time).
I can start a cronjob and make this process more or less auto but I really don't want to make builds if there are no changes for our device.

if u can post the change log when u update daily as well, that will be good
Nightlies does not necessarily imply that you will have a new build waiting for you every morning.
Also, OP has been kind enough to provide us with these. He has mentioned explicitly that he will not provide support for it. What's more, he has also listed links to the Official Discussion and Development threads. No reason for you to complain or discuss about screen rotations etc.

New build uploaded and now includes "libakm.so" so screen orientation will work.
For some reason it still say that it is the same build as previous one on build.prop but its false info! It has the latest repo changes up-to-date! It might be because there where no changes at 2012-08-12 just of yet that it didn't bother to change build.prop. anyway have fun!

[Q] Install question (HP-TP): How to determine previous Android / clockworkmod on TP?

Hi,
I tried looking on past posts and the web, but I couldn't find an answer on my own.
I am hoping this is an easy question to some of you.
A while back I loaded a version of clockworkmod which looked like a cellphone interface on my HP Touchpad.
I didn't use it much and at some later date, my webOS prompted me to do an update or upgrade, which I did.
After that, I no longer had the option to boot into Android.
* Can someone please help me to determine how to go about installing one of the newer or newest version of Android on my TP?
I have found some instructions that ask if a previous version was already installed and which version.
I am not sure how to know which version I had, so maybe that is a first step.
Once I know if I have an earlier version or what version that is, I can go to one of the great install instructions and follow that.
I guess I need to know all the answers to install Android 4.x onto my particular HP.
Maybe the dates on some of these directories will be a clue or is there another comand one of you wants me to run to know.
Thanks!
Joe

Still hoping for an answer.
To clarify my question, the install page asks me to decide whether this is a reinstall or a first time install.
I think it would probably be better to do a Full Clean install, but since there are some leftover artifacts of the clockworkmod, I need to know what I can get rid of.
I found this page with instructions at the rootzwiki:
rom-guide-how-to-install-android-42-43-and-new-44-builds-on-the-hp-touchpad-edited-111113
Anyone?

Discussion: DNSCrypt that actually utilize magisk features

As you (may?) know DNSCrypt can protect you from DNS Spoofing attacks and related nasty stuff.
I've searched today to check if there is any magisk module for that and found one by p1n2o in the repository.
Thing is, it requires init.d and as you know, init.d support is rarely found in stock roms and users choosing magisk want just one main thing, untouched /system, meaning hacks for implementing init.d are out of question.
I wonder, is it possible to modify dnscrypt binaries to use magisk postfs which serves the exact same purpose as init.d?
I'm really surprised to see no-one else brought this topic up before. No-one cares for integrity these days?

I'm not a specialist but I guess dnscrypt source code has to be slightly modified to use magisk postfs path and not init.d and then recompiled especially for this module.
Wrong file permissions (execute is missing) can be easily fixed in magisk config.sh template. Not a real issue.

The devs updated it to the latest template (1500). It hasn't reapeared in magisk manager yet, but it is listed in magisk modules repo on github. I downloaded it from there and now dnscript seems to work as expected on my phone.

Hm. Interesting.
So You're telling me you just installed those two magisk modules, doing nothing else (like changing configuration or properties), and it worked?
So..
I've fixed the permissions for binaries for dnscrypt and it'll run out of the box.
I've also exported init.d linker from github and it works too.
By installing both through manager and reboot, it runs. Both are attached.
However it won't actually work.
Check the image.
Any ideas?

I had to choose a dnscypt resolver and I used this small mod to change it.
You need to reboot for the change to take effect and I had to follow the directions in this post because i'm running android 7.1.2

I've changed the default servers to yandex and Cisco as the default were having errors in the log. Attached.
Now it seems it runs no errors. Still I can't pass dnssec tests xD
Wanna try?
No need to chmod (the post you mentioned), I've fixed that.
Also, no need for the mod either, dnscrypt (this one) places iptables rules itself.
@DenyDarko It doesn't seem to be working The log isn't running like before..

It uses uhhh... I think Urandom to seed actual random...
Mumble mumble not true random numbers mumble mumble
From what I read that part is only applicable with things like PGP... However... Since you're using DNSCrypt... You MIGHT care... I don't know

So as some of you might know, Huawei has officially announced that EMUI 10 is going to rollout early/mid/late June, I've built a quick app which lists the latest EMUI 10 uploads of Huawei, I'm going to post them here so we could stalk on what Huawei's doing [ and to archive the urls for myself too ]
So here we go ( The date is the firm's zip package last modify date ) :

People been trying and failing for a while now, though I think no one has tried dload method so far, if you're able to do that you might succeed, though my advise is just wait for official release or at least for when approved firms arrive [ those firms are not approved by Huawei yet ] also consider that most likely after a rom is approved it gonna officially rollout too.

They have uploaded others italy files before they were just 402371-2. Who knows if them are approved? I'm from phone
By the way I think I'm gonna try them with dload, surely doesn't gonna work
EDIT: I read now that they are rollback firms :crying:
I updated my BLA-L29 C432 to EMUI 10,but i had to use the older B158 base, because at least two bases from this OP failed (401881 and 403415), so clearly Huawei is not using unified bases on this device.
I have an unlocked device, so i used the no_check recovery to update, but i did tested Hisuite Proxy tool which of course failed, because the firmwares are unapproved.
Also, i can confirm that EMUI10 locks the bootloader and it cannot be unlocked even if you have the unlock code, so if anyone with unlocked bootloader wants to try, please keep that in mind.
After updating to EMUI 10, i checked if HiSuite (original) finds any firmware (normal update or rollback), but it doesn't.
Modifying the configuration file and attempting a recovery does find an approved 9.1.0.345 firmware, but it's not a rollback firmware, so i won't recommend installing that if you wanna go back to EMUI 9.1.
Probably i will play a bit with this EMUI10, then i will use test point to go back on EMUI 9.1 and test again other combinations. Test point is fun, though! xD

I think it's the default one from Hisuite Proxy Tool. Yes, you can't do anything without an unlocked bootloader.

So how do you feel about the emui 10, is it worth all the hype and the sleepless nights of waiting?

Nope! I can't say much about it, there's a new camera app and some UI related changes, but it still feels like EMUI xD.
But it's also true that i didn't spent much time on it. I do miss some of my Magisk modules and my custom kernel, though!
@Hayeni you can see the changes on youtube the update is out for months on chinese version
FAQ TIME
Where is "written" that a firmware is unapproved when trying to install it? I mean, it can't be just an online request, because it always fails on recovery, and I'm pretty sure that recovery doesn't use internet, so maybe in the firmware there's something to distinguish an approved one from an unapproved
Am I right? @Pretoriano80 what's your clue about that?

When a firmware it's approved, it gets a valid authorisation file when HiSuite makes the request for validation.
Then the authorisation file is pushed to the device, together with the firmware and the recovery will check that file before starting the installation process.
When using Hisuite Proxy Tool to install an unapproved firmware, it fails to get the authorization file, but for some strange reason (it's Huawei we are speaking about xD) Hisuite still goes ahead with an installation attempt, even if the authorization file is missing.

Now everything is clear! There are lots of modding minds, is possible that they still not have managed this authorization file? Maybe because is encrypted with RSA as @IProfessor said

Well cracking that would be hard, to say at least. And probably an open source project will also mean that Huawei can patch it very fast.
P. S : Have you tried to install a BLA-L29 C432 on your BLA-L09 with HiSuite Tool?

HiSuite found an approved firmware for me (b345) when i modified the configuration file and added BLA-L29 to it.
Probably you could try to flash that base, cust and preload with Hisuite proxy tool.
Idk know if it will successfully install or if it will rebrand your device if it will install successfully, but even if it does work, i doubt that it will unlock the second sim too.

Yep I know, and maybe there will be some problems of promiscuity I think. Are you so kind to find that firmware and post the link here please? I'll give a look later and think about that

These are the links for BLA-L29 C432 :

P..S. Those were found by original HiSuite, without using the proxy tool, but if you wanna try them, you will have to use the proxy tool.
And remember, there are no guarantees with this kind of stuff, you either take some risk or stay stock and wait for official OTA updates.

If you crack their singing algorithm they will have to release a patch for all of their past, present and future phones so their old signing method won't work for them, every single individual will have to download and install an update from them so his phone will be working on the new signature, at least I guess
though if you've realized there is no such authentication thingy when people use dload method right? maybe, that's why dload factory resets the data?
