Guys,
I'm not able to remove any programs via activesync from my wizard.
I can see the programs listed in activesync but I can't remove any of the installed programs; it's driving me crazy!
Please help!
Cheers,
Arne

That is exactly the problem; how do I remove a program from my PPC?
Because via Activesync doesn't work.....
The program I like to remove is minimo (mozilla for PPC's)
Thanks!
Have the same problem, Windows can not delete programfiles. When i install an update of a program, the setup failed. If i delete files manualy i can install the update. Had the same problem with original rom.

Try....
Start > Settings > System > Remove Programs.
This should do what you are after.
my dear friend thats the problem....by doing any of the above i cannot uninstall any programmes ...it say cant remove programmes but do u delet it from your list of removable progrrames...funny
Same here. Minimo would not uninstall
went to remove prog. it said it did but all it did was remove it from the remove programs list.
Hard reset here we go. Pocket mechanic was the same for me.
It's ok when you exactly know where the program is installed - you should simply delete its files. But how can I upgrade to .NET CF 2.0?
Installer can't remove previous version and I can't delete files manually cause I don't know what files to delete :-(
I've had the same problem trying to remove minimo and the Atomic Cannons Demo. :? So far these are the only items I have tried to uninstall. I just deleted the folders and shortcuts, but I'd rather figure out what's causing the problem!
Running the QTek test ROM (WWE) on a US Tmo MDA.
I also have that. however most of the time it works for me to soft-reset and then remove. for some reason that works (for me)
I would recommend a soft reset just prior to removing software from a WM5 PPC. WM5 only minimises most programs instead of closing them when you click the X so the application stays open therefore files are still in use which prevents a successful removal.
Even if the progam has been closed by Start>Settings>System>Memory>Running Programs or a task manager like in SPB Pocket Plus there is a chance that there are still associated files locked open unless a soft reset is done before uninstall. Windows Applications on the desktop will normally prompt for a restart after uninstall if files were in use however it looks like the majority of Windows Mobile apps (or Windows itself) dont have the same functionality (some Mobile apps do prompt for restart but not very many).
Also, apps with today screen plugins should be disabled, before a soft reset then uninstall the app as WM seems to lock the files open when active on today screen as well.
I havent had the uninstall error once since i have done a soft reset before uninstalling any software, hopefully others will have the same success. I know this wont apply to every situation but so far so good for me.
Cheers

Puckster is right.Run your task manager to see all runing programs and close them before trying to uninstall or simply soft reset prior to uninstall. It works without a flaw.

You can use SKTools or use Total Commander to rename the dlls and exes installed, soft reboot and then remove.
probably a bit late for this advice but I always do a full backup before installing apps like this. To revert, I do a hard reset then restore the full backup (I use SPB Backup)
Thanks guys,
I am using a cooked ROM. L26Diamond V12 (by Leo )
I'm gonna try total commander, are the files located in the windows directory?
If this fails then the backup-hardreset-restore is probably the only option.

[Q] -SOLVED- Manila disappeared

After a small crash this morning, my diamond won't load the TF3D interface anymore . There was a problem with SpoonAlarm (alarm app). Tried to soft reset it several times and removed the battery. As a workaround I've chosen another theme and temporarily disabled TF3D.
It seems that manila.exe disappeared from my Windows directory!
Is this familiar to one of you guys?
I haven't tried a hard reset yet, as this will erase my settings.
Config:
ROM: Elite 3.0 WWE
Radio: 1.00.25.05
Prot: 52.29.25.12H

Hi...
I don't think u need a hard reset....
I don't know what's append to your TF3D or files...
But I'm pretty sure that manila.exe is still there ...
Is 'Elite 3.0 WWE' ROM with TF3D in the ROM?
can u uninstall TF3D or is it IN the ROM files...?
If it's in the ROM files..
try this...
install Total Commander...
use it to do a search for all _manila files
delete them!
do a search for manila.exe also and delete the file...
Don't worry...
Now your original manila files will be there..
and TF3D should work ....
Although TotalCMD wasn't able to delete all the files, it was able to remove some of the _manila files. After enabling TF3D via the "Today" app in "System" it worked instantly.
Thanks, problem solved.

MediaExperiencePanel problem

Hi there
I´m having some problems with the MediaExperiencePanel.
Problem is that I tried to run the R3A Mediapanel cab, (after installing the new R3A Panelmanager, that is working flawless, btw).
The R3A mediapanel, for some reason I don´t know, did not work, it kept lacking to the point of uselessness. So I tried to uninstall it, but with no luck, as it keeps saying that some files can´t be deleted. I manually tried to remove them with Rescoe or win commander, but no luck. When I try to install either the old R2A medapanel.cab or the new R3A mediapanel.cab, it keeps saying that the installation failed, so now have have no media panel at all
The 2 files, that I can´t delete is:
\Programmer\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\MxpProcess.exe
\Programmer\Panels\MediaExperiencePanel\Resources\MxpFont.mxf
Any help will be greatly appreciated
This is beginning to get on my nerves
I suspect that the reason that I can´t delete the two files, is that the process "MxpProcess.exe" is running. But when I try to kill thge process, nothing happens?
Any help will be much appreciated
this one helps me - rename file MxpProcess.exe then soft restart and then delete file.

Install failed and now wont uninstall

Hey Everyone,
I am running build 217531.5.0.20 ROM on 6.5 on an ATT Fuze.
Today I decided to give the push to talk feature a try and noticed the PTT software was not in this cooked rom so, I DL it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446652
I installed into the Storage Card not the device and SR. The cab installed no problem but, I am not getting the program so, I thought I would reinstall it. Now, it tells me that it detects the previous version and wants to uninstall the old one first. It asks me if that is ok and I say yes then, it tells me it can't. Continue anyway? I say yes and it fails.
So then I turn off TF3D and SR. Try again and nothing. THen I try a SR and from the beginning, I try to isntall in the device and tells it asks me if I want to remove the old and I say yes, then it says it can't and asks if I want to conitnues anyway, I say yes and it fails.
Does anyone know how to remove the PTT so I can try again?
There is no PTT registry in the HKLM, I have searched for it and all it finds is the remap keys. I used total comander and can not find any of the files or folders for it to remove it on it's own.
Any help is appreciated in advance...
THANK YOU!
UPDATE*********
Ok, so I found the rstry key in the HKLU/Software/HTC/PTT and I removed it. No change even after a SR.
most straightforward, how bout a hard-reset? since backup with messages and calls are easily done wif PIM backup.
Uh, was the ptt button mapped to something useful prior to trying to install the ptt cab (I'm thinking it had to be). You're problem is that you already had the ptt button mod in rom, I suspect. Look in \windows for long_ptt.lnk and short_ptt.lnk. You may not be able to install ptt, but if you do, definitely do it to main memory.
