This started out as just a clean and tidy black status bar mod for my own personal use with Dwang's ROM v1.17.1. I wasn't happy with all the black themes out there so I made my own, then decided to get rid of all the gross default orange as well. I ended up putting a bit of effort into it so I thought I'd share it here.
It contains a new boot screen and transparent Eclair launcher tabs by me, as well as various edits of existing images from around the place. I've run everything possible through optipng to keep your phone speedy fast.
I used parts of DBeCe's negrodwang, AndroidFiend's Black Bar, Pay's Black Elegance, cybapaddy's Black Paddy, Ace42's Espresso, xxmonsterx's xxandroidx, bbuchacher's Super D Black and djengizz theme templates so many thanks to all those people for their work. Big appreciation also to Stericson for his MetaMorph app, Ohsaka for his colorChange.jar app, Danation for his thm/xml converter and xenio2000 for making sense of ninepatch (.9.png) files.

This is a Morph, not an update.zip. You need Stericson's Metamorph app as linked above. He's updated the paid version since I released this theme, so now the theme works with the free version.

Any chance you would be making other colors?
I decided I didn't like the standard looking launcher tab so I edited AndroidFiend's gChromeRed launcher to be green to go with this theme you made.
I have uploaded it for you to try. Just apply it with MetaMorph on top of the BlackAndGreen.

This is also my first time editing any morphs.

I probably won't do other colors unless there's a massive demand for it. It's easy enough to do anyway, just time consuming. If anyone wants to have a go at it then by all means feel free to use the base I've made.
Cool work on your Launcher mod. I'll add it to the OP
I was going to try and edit it to make it a different color but the .png files are not in rgb, which makes it a long long process to change it from the green. I'm just using GIMP to edit it. Do you know of a quick way to change it?

Figured out it's actually pretty easy. So I'm in the process of changing a bunch.
If anyone's still interested in using this with the newer MetaMorph, I've converted the THM file to XML and chucked a pastebin link in the first post.

v1.1 - Added "Ultra" compression switch. Added a few more commands.
v1.2 -Now includes batch file that signs the theme also. So if you need to add anything else to the theme, like an xml file, add it to themenew.zip BEFORE you run the batch file. I also included a batch file that change the Ticker, Date and Clock font colors to white, then signs it. Of course, you can make it change it to any color, you just need to edit the batch.

Then follow these steps...
Download and extract "themeporter.zip" to C:\themeporter(IMPORTANT that it's extracted there).
1) Copy old theme to c:\themeporter and rename it to "themeold.zip".
2) Copy new theme template to c:\themeporter and rename it to "themenew.zip".
3) Run Port.bat
note: If you want to see for yourself that this works, don't copy and paste "themenew.zip" into the themeporter directory. This batch will automatically create one if there isn't one there. You will then be able to see exactly which files are being ported over.
BIG NOTE: This only ports over.png's. You will still have to manually copy over and xml's, jar's or whatever over to "themenew.zip".

Yea, this will only be used just for png's.
Is this geared toward theme creators or users? If creators you could modify it so that if they store only modified files in a tiered folder structure it could just dump them into the new template.
If end users then you will be limited on your current track since you have to unpack/repack with entire files instead of it being selective.

Did you have the bat running in C:\themeporter\? Worked for me with Cyan's 3.9.4
Btw ultra Spikey, I have noooo idea why this thread is not insanely bigger cuz this thing is freakin awesome and helps a ish ton for me. Thats why it went unnoticed by me until now. Thanks man! : D
well i did a test that i was thinking about last night. Is it possible to port a theme over to a new CM before the new rom finishes flashing and booting up? the answer............ YES!!! i started the download for the rom and theme template at the same time and with this and colorChange.jar by Oshaka i was able to port my theme before my phone had fully booted up the rom. Also it only took 2 minutes to download the rom so that didn't affect timing too much. Great job ultra spikey, this is amazing

Yup had it in the right place and everything .. it zipped everything up into "themenew.zip" but just hit that error when trying to flash it
EDIT: just tried it again ... didnt get the error!! lol ... i had to resign the update.zip (duh) ... rebooting now
Just FYI, for some reason (on my Linux box), when rezipping the files, it does not keep the same letter case.
Phone.apk becomes

This caused some problems...but all I had to do was go in an manually rename. Other than that - awesome work!
EDIT: Actually, just realized that the battery progress icon does not work at all. When I manually change the files - it is fine. But when I run your tool - it is not. My guess is the case-sensitive thing.

Good catch eriss. I just noticed that as well and came in here to post that I am seeing the same issue.
hmm I didnt realize it was case sensitive. It's not on any of my themes at least. I will fix and to match later today.

If you are looking for increased ease you might think about rolling into/incorporating the color changer jar. : )

Yeah..i didn't try to flash it. I used Metamorph, but it didn't work for me. Anyone have better luck? I just downloaded the zip to the root of my sdcard, then opened metamorph, picked the zip from the AndExplorer list from pick theme', but it gave me an error message.

oh, and by the way, for those of you who couldn't find the wallpaper he was talking about when they went to that site, just type in 'bamboo zen' when you go to the wallpaper link in the OP and you'll see it. It should be the first one. There's also an inverse one of it which looks pretty snazzy as well.
kool good to see some more darkstar offshoots, hope my next theme inspires such themeing projects.

Don't know why it doesn't work for everyone...
I'm using Metamoph 1.8.1. I just put the zip in /SDCARD/AndroidThemes/ (as Stericson said in his OP).

I'm not exactly sure what i am trying to do in the .thm. I've just take the metamorph zip from Bahnburner's Darkstar Advanced Launcher and modify some pictures.
The metamorph install Advanced Launcher (with Launcher.cpy subtheme i think)and then themed it (with AdvancedLauncher.apk i think).
As it works for me i hope it can works for every one.
After the first time i use this metamorph, Avanced Launcher was successfully installed and i just have to apply AdvancedLauncher.apk subtheme, not Launcher.cpy.
I've just done a test :
update to cyan 4.2.9.1 -> return to standard cyan launcher
apply kawaz_white metamorph -> advanced launcher is installed and themed...
@cacheinjection : yes, i agree. I've try a semi-transparent image, but have some bugs with it. Perhaps in next version if i found a solution.

Ive updated to last metamorph (1.8.1) and still having the error message ("id file could not be read or is missing ..").
I've tried with both black and white version, downloaded the files twice nothing work.
And that's a shame, this launcher look real damn good.
Im running Dwang 1.5, with metamorphed theme mainly borrowing to dark star.

Sounds good, unless I hear an overwhelming response for the regular screen, I will have this up soon. For now, I will be uploading a black-bar version of the lockscreen that will work with this theme (Flash the lockscreen then the theme).
Here is a black-bar version of the lockscreen, but has not been tested. If anyone wants to give it a shot (everything should work fine, at worst case the colors will not be quite right) and report back I would appreciate it.

After downloading Version 2.1.1, I opened Metamorph, and did the pick theme, and found the file and metamorph was in the process of unzipping when it said that the theme control file could not be read may be missing. I tired downloading 2.1.1 again and replaced the file but that didn't seem to work..Maybe I am making a noob mistake, as I'm not that familiar with Metamorph.

It has to do with certain download managers changing my file name. I will upload a fixed version.
New version is uploaded, theme control issues are fixed, and will not be a problem again.

Alright, well this is my first "theme". Well not really a theme, i just put it together from different files on the forums. I take no credit for any of the images and stuff in this theme
Anyways, i think the Blue Magic theme is just plain ugly, so i decided to fix that once and for all.

Metamorph should work for any rom.

edit: Flashed it over CSDIv4 w MLIGN fix and it works beautifully.
One thing I noticed so far that could use a change is the icon highlights in the app drawer. The text is white when your looking at them but if you highlight one...the text turns black and you can't read the name of the app anymore. Same exact problem with Fast Test... I love the icon highlights...but I don't understand why it has to change the text to black on highlight.

Can we get an update that doesn"t have the advanced launcher? Can we get a themed regular 5 screen launcher please? Advance launcher is slower and too unstable. Love the theme BTW.

As for the advanced launcher, it was the only alternative to Blue Magic and default in SuperCSDIv4. I plan to release a metamorph of this version very soon so you can flash it to which ever donut rom u like.

Thanks, just got it to work. I had to wipe the Dalvik cache also, then reapply the theme. Thanks to the maker of this also, looks SO much better! Thank God!

Time now for another theme from yours truly. I decided to go with a red style this time, and maybe I will make different colors of this theme, if the desire for it comes up. I also decided to make this a metamorph so that everyone is happy and everyone is happy at the end of the day. Also makes it easier on me so I don't have to make a gazillion different versions. Lol. I know it's a lot of files to morph, but trust me, it will be worth it once it's all done...if you're into red themes, that is...lol

HOW TO METAMORPH THESE FILES:
Go into the Android Market, and search for Metamorph, and then download and install. Once it's done installing, open Metamorph, and it will ask to do some checks and when the Superuser Permissions come up, click Allow, making sure that 'Remember' is checked on...once that is done, just press on 'Unzip/Extract new theme' and navigate to where you downloaded the file. Click on the zip file, and then it should unzip it for you automatically. Click 'Close' on the pop up, and then click on 'Apply All!' which should appear on the bottom right button, then just wait for it to do its thing. If a warning comes up about the framework edit, just hit continue. Once you press the home button, as is usual of metamorph edits, there will be a brief pause and black screen while the page reloads, and it should be done. Hope I explained it well for you. Let me know if you have any problems.
IF YOU ARE USING A CM BASED ROM To change the color of the clock/date/network/notifications, you can do so in Spare Parts. For other roms, you'll probably have black text..lol
REQUIREMENT: Download and flash this first IN RECOVERY!!! This is ADW's launcher v0.8.6(his latest), which i find to work perfectly with this theme, but you can use any version you desire, and it will still work: http://www.jbthemes.com/dr_cloverdale/ADWLauncher8.6_Replacement_MDPI.zip
FURTHER TIPS: Wallpaper in screenshots is included in theme under 'Wallpaper > Wallpaper Gallery '. And also..to get back to your regular rom and gapps after using this theme, just go into recovery and flash gapps, then flash your rom...or if you are using a ROM with gapps already installed, just flash the rom over this to nullify the changes

as usual great work man....i'm gettin ready to try it out now...you think you could put a black n yellow 1 together? i've been searchin for a good black n yellow theme to match the oil slick better keyboard and can't find a good one anywhere..if you say no its cool cause this one is sick too, thanks homie!!!!
