Can you get HTC Magic's "fade out" effect? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have seen that when you rotate an HTC Magic there is a fade out effect between the portrait and landscape modes, in which the screen goes black and then returns again.
That seems to make the transition smoother, do you guys know if there is a way to get the same effect in our Nexus?

TouchFLO 3D wallpaper is zoomed-in alittle bit

Hey,
Has anyone noticed that the wallpaper on the Home screen
is a little too stretched?
It's like it's zoomed-in, and it shows only about 80%
of the full picture.
Is there anyway this can be fixed?
Thanks.
I think you need to get out more my friend if this is the kind of thing you notice about your device!
Yeah, I've also noticed this and I think it's a bit annoying. It would be great if anyone have a fix for this!
MY GOD! you're right!
Thank you! you helped me so much!
what have I been doing all these years?!?
Actually, I made a mistake, it's not zoomed-in,
it just has a much lower quality, maybe HTC wanted to boost the tf3d performance.
Anybody else noticed it?
Well , I have the same thing. I have a picture which is quite large (but also decreasing the size didn't work) where only the top of the picture is shown and the picture is zoomed in. The bottom of it is falling of the screen. Maybe there are specific requirements for the wallpapers (size) someone knows of?
Thanks in advance,
Olaf
it's not because the image is shrinked.
the screen resolution is 480x640 so the wallpapers are
the tf3d screen is smaler, due to the bottom and top bar.
in wm6.5 you niticed that the wallpaper fits the hole screen, because the bars are transparent. i also asked the cookers, if it's possible to rewrite it to use it also on wm6.1 but the answer was: no it's not possible, because the homescreen/with menue are different.
your wallpaper must be smaler than 480x640, i don't know the exact resolution, but then it schould be look nice
Wel I have resized it to 338x639, but it still zooms in and so the whole picture is still not displayed. Fortunately, it's a painting of Maria Magdalena by Pietro Perugio, the face is displayed fine. But I would like to see the whole picture. If you have a Diamond HTC, I can upload the attachement so you can try?
i think you only have to adjust the height, not the width, it scales it i assume.. havent tried it though (never noticed it because i use the standard screen )
Wel both horizontal and vertical is smaller now than the 480x640, so that shouldn't be the problem.

I noticed the effect is only accurate on the main screen. ie when it's multiple screens, the further away from the main screen I get, the more offset the effect is from where you touch it.
If I go from multiple screens to one screen it doesn't show unless I manually switch to the first screen and then change it the option.
Sorry if that sounds confusing lol, but that's what I did. I know there's an option in screen settings for choosing your main screen.
nexus lwp is not programmed for our displays. it is displaying the touches based on our Touch Screen on a HDPI screen display so thats why on the VERY LEFT screen all of your touches are perfectly drawn. but because our hardware display is smaller the hdpi display your seeing is offset to the right.
hope that somewhat explains it for you.
its the equivalent of comparing a 22 inch rim roll one rotation and a 10 inch rim roll 1 rotation. the 22 inch rim will roll further than the 10 inch.
We unfortunately have the 10 "
Just a thought but the new t-mobile motorola charm is blur with 2.1 and has live wallpaper support including the nexus lwp, considering its the same resolution as the slide and all lower res screens couldn't we pull it from that?
EDIT:
After that post I decided to search for an existing dump of the charm to take a look, I was unable to locate one so I will dump the system from one of the units I have tomorrow then see if anyone is interested in working on the lwp or porting the blur 1.5 with android 2.1 to other devices such as the slide.

Screen Rotation Sensitivity

Is there any way to adjust the threshold for when to rotate to landscape?
It is quite annoying to have it switch to landscape on some small rotations...
i would LOVE to know this, too. my damn phone is way too sensitive. it constantly switches when i don't want it to
I would love to limit screen rotation to certain programs.
Makes sense in the browser but nowhere else.
Or show an icon for a couple of seconds after a rotate that will disable rotation in the current program until you close it.
Suggestions on screen auto-rotate
Sensitivity should be adjustable, at its least sensitive setting, the phone would require a full 1g of acceleration PURELY in the direction of the new screen bottom.
Where "PURE" means the acceleration vector lies in the plane of the screen, and the phone is held perfectly orthogonal with g.
It would also be nice to have gesture for manual screen rotate that works in any app without otherwise disrupting the app.

Motion Blur

The motion blur from my HD7 while scrolling text is very noticeable. Is it the way it should be with a TFT LCD screen. My brother has a Samsung Omnia 7 and there is no motion blur while scrolling text.

My best guess is it's the SAMOLED screen on the Omnia 7. I have the Surround and HD7 here and both have the "motion blur".
Change the HD7 to light theme and see if it goes away.
Yes it's how it's supposed to work with LCD screen especially the big ones. I remember I bought a Samsung LCD for my PC several years back and when I was playing FIFA the players got blurry when the camera was moved instantly.
To be honest for me it's not a deal-breaker and I am not even bothered by it.In fact it kinda gives a cool futuristic factor which next-gen games seem to have these days but that's just me.
Guys, we are talking about 2010 LCD tech where most TFT screens can cope with motions. Scroll text can't really compare with playing games and watching sport events.
Have not tried playing action games on my HD7, but scroll "black" text seems better, but scroll colour/white text, the motion blur is a bit unbearable, makes me a little dizzy.
i 've tried LG optimus7, HTC Mozart and Trophy - all have this motion blur (set with HIGH brightness on black screen). I think HD7 is just more obvious due to size of screen compared to the rest (3.7-3.8")

Who is feeling nice and has 30 sec to spare? Apply Spectrum or Waveform LWP for me.

Either Spectrum or Waveform, the effect is the same.
When I leave these wallpapers in the background, with no music playing, and slide from window to window, there is a glitchy artifact type effect within the wave that spins, but ONLY as you are holding your finger on the screen and mid slide. If you let go it turns to normal blue or orange solid color.
It kind of looks like when your graphics card is failing and artifacting on a pc. There is a wiremesh with flashy grids etc on the screen.
Just wanted to know if this is normal or if my phone has a problem.
