ActiveSync guest mode

Hey guys, I ran across this link and thought i'd share. basically its a way to kill the automatic partnership in activesync. Helps a lot if your constantly reloading roms and just use AS to transfer files. Or use the reg settings in the zip. Enjoy!

That's definitely something very useful that you found.

be careful, papamopps says there are problems with it ... so lets wait for his reply before I suggest using it... since I have never used it myself.

Newest version seems better than the others, pretty speedy too. Believe me i've been through them all and i finally added it to the list of "must install" on next flash list =)

Application similar to AroundMe

Does anyone know of an application similar to the new AroundMe app for the iPhone. If you haven't seen it, http://www.tweakersoft.com/mobile/aroundme.html . Please let me know if anyone can think of anything.
Try GoogleMaps. Completely different interface but you can pinpoint your location and find businesses around you just as AroundMe seems to do.
Yea, I have google maps. But google maps doesn't already have existing categories, and AroundMe sorts people's favorites. Also, around me uses your existing location on GPS as the marker to search, which I really like.
Windows Live searches around your current gps location.
What's Windows Live?

If someone could upload that .cab, I would be grateful. The links on the website they provide no longer works.
Google maps can use your gps location to find where you are. I use it when walking around london. That place is like a maze!

Click on Windows Mobile 6 (assuming your using WM6) to dowmload the Live Search App. It a great application I use it all the time.
I definitely second trying Windows Live Search. I find that it works better than Google Maps Mobile the bulk of the time. Definitely a fan.

I held off on posting in this thread again until I got my Fuze. But I can safely say, both my Tilt & Fuze did not load the page in Opera but did in IE. On both phones, after it detects my phone and I click the download link, I'm given a 404 File Not Found error.

Sheesh.

Impossible ?

hey guys i did was wondering if this would be possible. Is there any way to answer intercom or page someone over windows mobile device? I need program like that so bad and i cant find nothing close. Thanks for your time.
Can you elaborate a little .... "answer intercom or page someone"????
What are you trying to do?
I guess you want it to work as a walkie-talkie?

at&t's version of this is the Push to Talk. Costs extra.
Other than that I suppose you could try and setup Skype on your phone, but that's not really walky-talk type stuff. But it avoids voice charges.
may not be what you're after but i was playing with parlingo yesterday specifically the voice chat and when i sent a "voice note" to my buddy it played the message without him doing anything. now we already had a chat session opened (didn't try without it being started)
It's possible

If you've got a bluetooth-enabled intercom, it's possible. You could do it with a wire as well.
As for paging someone, you could text them.
If you want a walkie-talkie style device, there's a program out there (I forget it's name, but found it using Google) that lets you do this using the WiFi connection on your phone. Works okay even with full-duplex voice communications.
If you give us some more information on what you want to achieve, I'm sure we'll be able to help more.

4Talk is the one that I was referring to earlier. Thanks for pointing me back at it!
It'll work over infrastructure or ad-hoc wifi networks, so with a bit of configuration you can get it to work just like a walkie-talkie.

I use Pocket Controller Pro, you can also try Mobile Controller Professional, these two are pretty similar, Mobile Controller has the added benefit of allowing you to use the phone camera as a webcam.

Yes, you found it. That is the one. Thanks to Jeroen.
MS have a free ActiveSync remote control powertoy also. I've used that with some success.
I'm currently using mymobiler but find its refresh rate on pc is quite slow!! are there any other freeware apps similar to this??
Although I do enjoy the wireless control and transfer of files using mymobiler!!
Try "remote display control" it is a powertoy from microsoft.

thanks, but i can't find it in the market..
tried searching for "bluetooth", "bluetooth fileshare" and also "fileshare" and find nothing
http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.alex.BluetoothFileshare
scan the barcode with barcode scanner. App found with search tag "bluex" sans quotes.
Great!! Finally an APP for bluetooth file transfer!!
Anyone got an idea if it may become available for NON-rooted HTC magic phones??
I don't really fancy rooting becuase it will void my warranty
Thanks
I just got my HTC Magic. I cant BELIEVE that it doesnt support obex!!! Very very dissapointed
BTW i cant find the bluetooth file app on the market.. i even tried scanning the 2D barcode. But when entering the url in browser it still says "not found" in mark..
I need this app badly. A phone without bluetooth file receive/send ability is useless!!

Could it have something to do with your network operator? Where in the world are you? It may be worth turning on ' allow unknown sources' to see if that helps.
Version 1.0.3 can SEND files without root acces recieving still needs root.
Tested on my non-rooted magic and it works we're getting there!
Fantastic!! Can't wait until we don't have to root!!
We are getting closer!! , Jut not fast enough!! lool
Anyone else think it would be better if it was free
Bluetooth is so painfully slow. I haven't received my Magic yet, so I didn't try this, it's a theory.
If you usually send files back and forth from one or two computers you could just setup a FTP server. It's really easy with the FileZilla server. You could then use Wi-fi to send files. Maybe there is a good ftp client for Android, I'm not sure.
Of course if you need to send between phones all the time you're out of luck for the time being.

Root
Hello.
I´m new in Android and in this forum.
I´ve bought "Bluex" (BlueTooth Fileshare) and I can receive photos but I cant send any file.
Where can I find a tutorial about how to be root in my HTC Magic to perform send an image through bluetooth?
I think that there should be a topic about that but I don´t find it.
thx.
