First, you need to root your device. Download the link from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21584547&postcount=1.
Put the file "root.zip" you just downloaded onto your EXTERNAL SDcard.
Then, power off the device.
When it's off (it'll buzz), press the volume up key (the one closer the power button) and the power key at the same time.
After a few seconds, the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen will come up. When it does, LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON, BUT KEEP HOLDING THE VOLUME UP BUTTON.
Soon you will see some yellow writing on your screen saying the device is copying apks, etc. What is happening is you are booting into the tablet's stock recovery. After a bit, the yellow writing will go away, and then you will arrive at a blue menu.
Using the volume keys, select "install from external storage", then press the power button. You will arrive at a menu of your sd card.
Using the volume keys, select "root.zip" and press the power button.
You will again see some yellow writing and your device will be rooted.
After it's done, reboot the device by selecting reboot and pressing power (it may reboot automatically, I can't remember). You are now rooted!
Now that you are rooted, you need to flash the ported Clockwork Mod Recovery for this tablet onto your device. This is a custom recovery that will replace the stock one you saw before and allow you to flash custom ROMs...You can download the recovery .tar file in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21957277&postcount=1.

You will be shown a GUI with a list of buttons on the lower right side (PIT, Recovery, CSC, PDA, Phone, etc.). You want to click the button that says "PDA" and then, in the file selector, choose the "P6800_Recovery.tar" file.
Next you need to put your phone in "download" mode. To do this, power off the device. When it's off, press the VOLUME DOWN and power keys at the same time. When you see the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen, let go of the power button, but keep holding the volume down button (so, it's like booting into recovery, but with the volume down button, instead).
You will then be shown a caution prompt asking if you really want to enter download mode, hit the volume up key to select yes. Now, plug the tablet into the USB cable that came with your tablet and wait for windows to install the drivers (as noted above, this is why you installed Kies). You will know your device is properly connected when one of the windows in the upper left of the GUI has a yellow bar at the bottom of it and says COM:3 or whatever port you are on.

yes..you can remove it after u install it..but just save it for later purpose my opinion

first question:
Why you can flash this ROM with your stock recovery, i look inside the script steve made and found that
-script mounting and unmounting /data and /system partition
-deleting file system from /data and /system partition
-moving file from zip to /system and /data partition
-making busybox symlinks
-installing kernel
-set some permission
All above process is support with edify script from stock recovery...( until now, i dont know if samsung lock it someday) thats why you can install steve ROM...

This is correct. The tutorial was for all custom ROMs to come, not just my tweaked stock one. The fact that you can flash my ROM is because it is nothing too exotic (it's stock...) and the bootloader and recovery on the tab is not locked down. These things may change, and it is better to have the CWM recovery for that reason AND, especially, as noted in the post above, you can make NANDROID backups which you really should do before you flash a custom ROM...

great tut, but my CHINA P6800 will not accept any other ROM install for some reason. Yes, I have a brain and others confirm it's somehow locked. No f-ing idea how; more research after (endless) travel.

so in a nutshell, we're bootloader unlocked, I can get my brand new HK galaxy tab 7.7 and root/CWM right away (like my OG tab) without having to do any Bootloader unlock method?

I just want to let everyone know that you do not need to change your bb on the thrill with the v20p bb to get cm10 to work all you need to do is flash bernis u-boot and x-loader to get it to work. I will post the link when I get to my laptop I have troubles posting links on here.
I used this. I never upgraded to xballs ics. i was on the promethius rom rooted with cwm installed when i did this. I did not have to restore to stock gb. I am now running the 3.2.0 jellybam rom seems to be more stable than 3.3.0. It has good signal. the really couple of issues is the camera in landscape is upside down and the wifi takes a min to connect.
1. Download Bernie's and wkparks v1.21 files from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35199371 and extract.
2. Put the u-boot and x-loader files from bernie's file in the root of wkparks folder
3. Unplug your phone if it's plugged, turn it off, remove your SIM, SDcard, and battery.
4. Hold volume up on your phone, plug it into your computer, continue to hold volume up until your computer makes a noise (the noise will continue every few seconds).
5. Open device manager, you should see OMAP4430 pop up then go away over an over.
6. Click it, go to update drivers, click the browse for files on your computer option, locate the drivers folder that came with wkparks files and select the usb_drv_windows. It should successfully install. you may have to do this twice. when I first did it the driver would come up as LG cosmos. It needs to be fastboot driver.
7. Open start_fastboot in wkparks file.
8. Press 2 and Enter.
9. When you see "Waiting 5 seconds..." quickly put your battery back into your phone. You should see a whole bunch of code flash before you. then it will ask you to remove usb cable and then replug it in to phone. on the phone you should see the LG in silver.
10. It should ask you after step nine to fastboot device. Press enter. then it will ask you to load u-boot. Press enter. Do not press y or n. then it ask you to flash x-loader press enter. do not press y or n. you should then see a open cmd command.
11. When you get the open cmd command enter as below.
fastboot flash u-boot u-boot.img
press enter
fastboot flash x-loader x-loader.img
press enter
fastboot reboot
press enter

Wow!!! Thank you so much! I was having trouble with random reboots and no connection and whatnot for days! I'm a newbie when it comes to flashing roms and I didn't wanna touch my baseband, but thanks to you I don't have to! Went from stock 2.3.5 to Jellybean after 3 days of troubleshooting! Here's a guide to unlocking the bootloader, flash a recovery image, and install a custom ROM on your Incredible s.
If you're not experienced with this sort of thing I advise you get help or not do it at all. I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your phone, but it is highly rare that anything will go wrong
1. Go to www.htcdev.com and log in/create an account. When logged in, click on 'Unlock Bootloader'
Now simply follow the on screen instructions provided by HTC. Some of the process requires getting some files from the Android SDK and you will needs the HTC drivers which come with HTC Sync, but this will all be explained through the process.
Now as I said, you need some files from the SDK which you can get here:

I recommend putting these somewhere easy like the root of your C: drive in a folder called 'Android' like I will for the tutori. If you're still sure, select yes, and the process will complete.
2) you should see a little message pop up now asking if you'd like to go ahead and unlock the boot loader. Select yes.
3. Once done, your phone's bootloader will be unlocked, this will enable you to flash a recovery image.
4. Go to

6. On your PC, load up a command prompt - open the Start menu, go to Run, and type "cmd".
7. In the command prompt window, type the following, assuming the HTC unlock files are all in C:android.

After a few seconds, ClockWordMod will have been flashed to your phone.
8. Reboot your phone, there should be an option in the fastboot menu (volume up and down to navigate, power to select). It should boot as per normal. Put it into USB disk mode, and download a ROM that you'd like to use. CyanogenMod is what I'm going to use: http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices/htc-incredible-s
Download the ROM and place it in the root of your SD card
9. Power off the phone. Hold volume down and press power to boot back into the bootloader. Use volume down to select "Recovery" and press power. ClockWorkMod recovery will load.
10. Using volume up/down and power to select, go down to Backup/Restore. Select it, then click backup. ClockWorkMod will backup your stock ROM in case there are any needs to switch back.
11. After that (takes about 5 minutes), go back to the main menu. Select wipe data/factory reset and confirm. Go back to the main menu, select Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache
12. Go to the main menu, and select "Install zip from sdcard". Next choose "Select Zip from SD card" and select the ROM you'd like to install. Confirm this action, and ClockWorkMod will install your new ROM. When done, shut down your phone.
13. Ordinarily you'd be done after that, and you could boot into your new ROM. However HBOOT 1.16 does some random stuff and tends to cause problems. I think it interferes with the installation of the boot.img that ordinarily would be flashed with the ROM. Get the ROM that you downloaded earlier (CyanogenMod in this tutorial), and on your computer, unzip the file somewhere. Once done, inside you'll see a file called "boot.img". Put this in the same folder as your other Android tools that you used earlier. Power your phone on, hold volume down, but don't choose "recovery", choose "usb fastboot".
14. Open up your command prompt again (Start > Run > "cmd"), and type (using the "android" folder for this example):

fastboot flash boot boot.img
This will flash the boot.img to your phone.
Power off the phone, reboot it, and that should be it!
