Android convert goodbye Apple! - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have decided to sell my iPhone 3G & 3GS.
I was offered $190 & $290 for the 3G & 3GS respectively - is that good?
I guess I'm wondering if any of you have sold your iPhones or have more experience with selling old phones (I never have).
Should I try eBay? Or is that too complicated & expensive with the fees & shipping etc.?
Should I try Craigslist or Kijiji (they are free) - do you think I'd get more than what I was offered?
I like my N1 a lot and don't want my iPhones sitting in my closet any more

go to ebay and look at completed listings. that will tell you how much they are selling for on ebay...check out Craigslist also...see what people are asking.

your old iphones can run android too, they make a good gift

You can get 300-350 for 3g and 450-550 for 3gs. Don't accept anything less. That's on Craigslist in Chicago. Only do locals deals for cash in a public place.

I agree with gom4381. I sold my lame 2g iPhone in January for $250 in Florida.

Sold my 3gs for $540 on fleabay back in feb.

I got $425 for my jailbroken/unlocked iPhone 16GB 3Gs via Craigslist last weekend.

Well I got more than double what I was expecting so I'm happy.
I didn't ask for as much as some of you got because:
°I had the lower GB models
°The 3G had significant scratches on the screen, I had put a screen protector on after which made the scratches less noticeable but still...
°The guy was willing to take both
Plus I felt guilty asking for too much because isn't the 4G coming out just around the corner? Guess I'm too nice...
But I'm pleased as I didn't accept the first offer. And really it feels like now I paid much less for my N1

Apple has just slashed the iPhone's Price

Their partner, AT&T, has a 30 day return policy so all the smart folks who just spent $599 on a 8 gig iPhone will return it for...a $399 8 gig iPhone or...a Kaiser, which will do a bit more.
C'mon ATT. Let's get on with it!
I do not show this price reduction. I also called them and they are not aware of any such reduction.

Price reduction is real and all over the net ... check out the apple store online for confirmation

Yup! Link: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP.../wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&node=home/iphone/iphone
Maybe AT&T thinks that iCrap should not be at the same level as AT&T Tilt and lowered it's price.
$400 for an iPhone with 8gigs of memory, while the Kaiser costs $900 and you have to go out and spend $50+ on a couple gigs of flash.
Is the iPhone subsidized or is HTC ripping us off???
Sorry, if that's a stupid question, not sure what the AT&T/Apple deal is...

As per rumors, AT&T Tilt will be $499 with a two-year contract. $900 Kaiser is the price you are paying for an unlocked/unbranded phone. I bet if iPhone followed the same route, you'd be paying close to a grand for it as well.
I can't help but wonder if this iPhone price drop will change pricing on 8925 with ATT
$399 for an iPhone or $499 for a 8925 ? The teeming masses will want to go the iPhone route
DLD
What the f*$k does this have to do with the Kaiser?
The Kaiser is better than the iphone in EVERY way EXCEPT screen size.
Interface? Port it to the kaiser.
Youtube? Kaiser can do it.
Sliding unlock? Kaiser can do it.
GPS? You bet.
Revolutionary dial up internet? Kaiser has high speed.
Space? 8gb? *gasp* buy an 8gb sd card.
The iphone is crap. If anything buy that 16g modded iphone apple sells now. its the iphone without the phone! lucky you

I agree completely.
The teeming masses won't. $299 iPhone will cut in to 8925 sales for sure.

Until the iPhone integrates well (and securely) with an exchange server, the corporate masses are going to stay with blackberry or a windows mobile device.
I already know 3 people who currently own an 8125 or an 8525 that are looking at an iPhone.
DLD
1. There is no $299 iPhone. The 4 GB model is axed.
2. This is germane because the non-geeks (the bulk of the market) don't live on fora, they live in the world of The New Yorker and the WSJ and MTV so, a ripple in the iPhone force field can be a boon to HTC sales especially once said iPhone customer figures out that a) the iPhone is a rip, b) they might want to send an MMS, c) downloading podcasts in the wild (w/o a dock) is a cool thing to be able to do, d) 3G is more faster than Edge v3...
So HTC need to push ATT to get this king into orbit now!
hehe anyone dropping a 3g 8525 for a iphone is just slightly insain. Futhermore anyone who is considering a kaiser wont even look twice at a Iphone for the simple fact as once you look at the 2 side by side its kaiser hands down. The price drop will affect more T-mobile kiddies useing the sidekick line and helio and there ocean.
Anyways I highly doubt this will affect the kaisers sales in the slightest.
Just read somewhere in engadget last night. One of the reason (speculation) why Apple slashed the price $200 cheaper, because Apple will introduce a new "European iPhone", which has (most probably) 3G and possibility to unlock (required by european law).
So, if the price is still $600, 3G iPhone will not be able to compete with WM if the price is $700 - $800.
That's why the US iPhone is now $400, and later the 3G iPhone will be, again $600.

[Q] Purchase new Nexus One in UK?

Hi,
Anyone have any idea where I can pick up a new, stock Nexus One in the UK? I lost mine a few months back, and I just can't fall in love with the iPhone4 I replaced it with.
I don't want a Vodafone bastardised one. Needs to be stock, unlocked and unrooted, and I'd like to know if I'm buying AMOLED or LCD ideally.
I know the Nexus S is coming, but I loved the build quality of the Nexus One.
Thanks.
Hey, ive got a IMMACULATE condition nexus one its less then 6 months old bought straight from google america webstore.
I am thinking of getting a iphone4. Would you be interested in a straight trade?
Bought a brand new one on eBay for 320 quid this Thursday. You can get one for 399 "buy it now" or hunt for a better bargain (and wait a little longer).
Thanks for the replies.
Syed, I reckon the iPhone 4 is worth a fair bit more than the N1, so I'll probably flog it on Ebay. Plus i really want a BNIB one.
Cheers.
haha lol woops fair point iphone4 is worth more definately, i meant nexus and cash.
But yeah if your after a totally brand new one then its upto you, all the luck anyway
Hunt in ebay. Close to £260 you'll get BNIB. I paid only 230 back in july.
Bit of a nightmare trying to find what I'm after on Ebay!
I'm after a T-Mobile bands version with AMOLED screen. Most sellers don't bother to say whether it's ATT or T-Mobile, and if the screen is SLCD or AMOLED.
And half don't even bother to say if it's a crappy Vodafone version.
I wish life were simpler! I wish I'd never lost my N1 :-(
Lol bit of a cheeky comment here but if you are interested in even having a look at how new mine looks i could always list some photos up? As i mentions is a defo AMOLED ordered straight from Google so its defo unlocked, etc

T-Mobile Valentine's Day Sale

Anyone else taking advantage of their sale this weekend? All Smartphones are FREE with a 2 yr. contract. The wife and I have been month to month since December, so I think were gonna take advantage and pick up some new phones.
Pretty sure i'm gonna get an HD7, after seeing a lot of vids, threads, playing with it in store it seems like a really solid device and after using Android for 2 yrs it seems like it's gonna be a nice change. Originally wanted a Dell Venue Pro, but the HD7 will be FREE , and the DVP is having a decent amount of issues at the moment.
The wife wants to stick with Android, she'll probably get a my touch 4g..
Anyway..just seeing if anyone else is taking advantage of this sale
I would if I weren't an Even More Plus customer. I did however buy one outright and couldn't be happier. I am eagerly awaiting the first update, but even without it everything is grand.
Yeah we were on even more plus, gonna go back on contract though. I think their unlimited plan with 3000min is $150 right now
I can't go back on contract. My bill after taxes is $131. That is 2 lines, unlimited talk and unlimited data (believe it or not we don't text). Even if I want to add unlimited family text, it takes me up to $150 after taxes. That's unbeatable for unlimited everything on 2 lines.
I just buy phones outright now. I more than make up the savings, especially when you bring in the Craigslist factor.

My Wife and I got the HD7 this weekend and love them. i came from The Vibrant and she came from a blackberry
I convinced my dad to get an hd7 off the tmobile website
free...no rebate and it should be here tuesday!
i love my hd7
yep, took advantage of it...I got the HD7 the wife got a mytouch 4g...I tried to convince her to go for windows phone 7, but she stuck with Android.
Great deal none the less...phones were free and we got the special they're running on 3000 minutes, unlimited everything: $150/month
It was kind of annoying how much the sales people were pushing Android, they really didn't have anything good to say about windows phone 7...multiple times they repeated "yeah all the workers here use Android, we all have mytouch 4g's"
That sucks to hear. You'd think they'd be partial to all platforms.
Yeap, just picked up the HD7 from the T-Mobile site. Can't beat free. Got a Moto Defy last month that I'm enjoying but I guess I'll give it to the wife. That's if I can convince her to take it. She had a T-Mobile Tap for a bit last year and it left a bad taste in her month concerning touch screens. lol She's using a Samsung Gravity II now but I think I can convince her the Defy is better device.

[Q] How much is a Nexus One worth now?

I am wanting to sell my Nexus One and I've been looking around some of the prices on Ebay and Craigslist. I wanted to know what people think their Nexus Ones are worth right now.
I tried selling it to someone on this forum and was told: "sorry i can buy a brand new factory sealed n1 from half a dozen places for less than 250." I wasn't able to find any new N1s for at least $250 so I don't think this statement was an attempt to lowball the price. But, if it were true, then that means that my N1's value is on-par with the iPhone 2 or 3G... which I find to be a little hard to swallow.
Mine is in incredibly excellent condition and nothing is broken. I'd love to hear thoughts and opinions.
I've bought mine from buydig.com 2 weeks ago for about 250. Brand new. But with screen calibration issue - something that apparently all nexus ones have :-(
I just checked that site and I don't see anywhere where they sell cell phones...
what network does it operate on? is it unlocked?
if it's in good condition i'd sell it for 300-400 depending on many things. is it rooted? latest OS. that's just me tho.
$210 used, or $260 new, on Amazon
Brand new from ebay at US$279 + free shipping...
I had three and all were rooted with custom ROMs/updated radios.
Sold one on eBay for $215 (auction, not BuyItNow). Sold one on Craigslist for $210.
Keeping the other one for posterity's sake. Still an awesome device, and definitely was a game-changer in the mobile world.

Cheapest place to buy Exhibit

Where's the cheapest place to buy the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit? The cheapest Exhibits that I could find are at Walmart ($175) or the T-Mobile website ($200 w/ free $50 refill card).
HSN has it for $130 with goodies. Check out slickdeals thread.
http://m.slickdeals.net/f/5635106-S...e-129-95-Free-Shipping-New-HSN-Customers-Only
I bought mine used from craigslist. Came with everything including a silicone case for $80 :good:
But if you're planning to buy new, I wouldn't. You could spend the same amount of money (roughly $150) on a better phone if you're buying one lightly used. Don't feel bad about buying used - most people take really good care of their phones, so as long as you check it out before paying, you could snag a really good deal. I've seen Nexus S's go as cheap as $120 locally, plus a number of other comparable devices in the same price range. Not trying to bash the Exhibit (even though it sucks royally on Gingerbread) but I'm just pointing out that there are better options for the price.

I got mine for free from T Mobile [Joined just a year ago, that's the phone I chose to get when I joined]
But, if you aren't a first joiner, then you will have to pay like 100 dollars or more, roughly about 170, if you have an upcoming upgrade for T Moble, or of any other carrier, It would probably be more.

This got my interest coz for that price on a Nexus phone might just get me to upgrade my beloved Slim-beaned Samsung Exhibit 4G, until I looked at the specs on the Nexus S which is a HSDPA 7.2Mb/s device. Nope. Not for me. I used to have a 7.2Mb/s tmobile comet which when I was lucky could hit a little over 3Mb/s on speedtest. The Exhibit usually gets above 5Mb/s and I've hit 8Mb/s a couple of times on speedtest.
I tether my Nexus 7 tablet to my phone everyday, so the phone's internet speed is a major factor for me... Nexus 4 is my "wish-list" phone
